Top of the line for entertainment fully loaded
This is CHICAGO of course!
So big. Hosting all of chicagos biggest conventions.
huge convention venue with lots of options for food during lunch.
Make sure you figure out transportation ahead of time. Uber cannot service the McCormick Center and the cab line can be quite long if you leave when everyone else is leaving.
If you're from out of town and not familiar with the McCormick Place campus, trying to find you way back to where you parked your car without the help of any clear directional signage is a walk through the seven levels of Dante's inferno
The largest, cleanest, conference center out there. This is a great place to visit.
Always have a good time attending events at McCormick. The place is HUGE, and an asset to Chicago.
Parking is too expensive but then again everywhere in Chicago is so...
Went to a few events here. Would be nice to have a centralized location for ride sharing pickups.
It's a good convention center I suppose. I go every year to the auto show and it works very well for it each time
Really spread out , here for meeting , too much walking , poor food choices at gouged pricing
An extremely large, accessible, convention space set on Chicago's Near South side, extending onto the lakefront. Home to some of the nation's largest gatherings - including the Chicago Auto Show.
C2E2 was a blast. I try to go as much as possible. Every event I've gone to here has been amazing.
#CAS18 was the bomb! Great field trip for our auto shop!!
Huge convention center but there are some "hidden" Starbucks and cafes around where you can find something to eat or drink and sit for a few minutes.
Really nice convention center with friendly staff. It would really help to have better signage to return to the parking areas though. Especially to Lot C.
Nice conference center but getting into it was a nightmare
This is a beautiful building and wonderful art throughout. One tip, know what wing your event is in so you park closest to that entrance or you will be walking a long way!
This place is massive. Make sure you have comfortable shoes on otherwise you will have a very unpleasant visit. There will be quite a bit of walking.
The attendees and workers were all very pleasant. The food service establishments could use a helping hand maybe some additions.
All in all, I had a great experience at McCormick's South Building.
Nice convention center but a bit confusing on where to get dropped off at if you're in a cab
Premier expo and convention center. This place is massive, and it has something for everyone. Parking is fairly easy (though expensive), and general navigation through the hall is easy. Facilities are kept up nicely, and staff is plenty helpful.
It's huge! I went to the exhibition across the big corridor to see the exhibition, and I walked about 14,000 steps a day (^^;). Good for your health... But at least I wanted that walkway to be like a moving walkway.
Went there for the auto show. Was what i expected. Big, relatively clean. Parking was a bit confusing as the police were directing us in the wrong direction away from the parking entrance. ( i dont know why)
Well maintained and efficiently run convention center.
many event rooms with a good security presence throughout the spaces.
For a place this big they certainly didn't spend a single dollar on signage telling you where to go, where to park, where to drop off and pick up people....nothing!
Going to the McCormick Place is always a treat. I come here yearly to attend the Chicago Auto Show and am always impressed by the size and offerings the center has. I love the set up and it's a very unique building to be in. There are indoor fountains and cool areas to go into. The food that is offered there is extremely overpriced, but that's one of the only bad things here.
Went for a trade show. Very big and also very organized.
One of the best Convention Centers in the U.S.!! Second to only Vegas in terms of square footage. Directly down town so your close to everything the city has to offer. Bathrooms have always been clean and the info desks are helpful if you need help locating taxis or different halls. There are two (soon to be 3) nice hotels attached via skywalk. Most parking is indoors as well.
One of the best convention centers I have ever visited
2019 auto show was great. McCormick place holds great events
We attended a conference on oncology under the title IMMUNOTHERAPY
While this is an amazing facility, it can be overwhelming due to its massive size. There were three separate events being held this past Sunday. Unfortunately, the one I came to attend had no signs near entrances ---or anywhere to direct visitors. Directions from venue or event staff at different points, led to a 20-minute backtracking walk, just to find the expo! Perhaps this inconvenience was more of an oversight of organizers during planning, than McCormick Place management.
A gigantic congress center.
There is connection to the bus and metra.
Everything is clean and tidy.
Direct access to the hotel.
However, the gastronomy could be expanded further, this quickly reaches its limits.
the mcCormick center is a colossal conference center, comparable in size to the Milano Pero fair, the organization is flawless and even events for tens of thousands of people (such as the ASCO congress, thirty thousand members) spin as smooth as oil
I have never in my life been to a more confusing place. Every staff member we ran into couldn't give us directions. Every person we ran into was lost. Enjoyed the expo though!
Long wait to get unloaded, nor very pleased with the experience
What more needs to be said about the best convention center in the US?
This is my second year coming to Chicago auto show and I must say it a beautiful building.
This place is a horrible place. The parking is horrendous. I have been there 3 times in the past year. There was a accident and a fist fight in the parking lot. No organization and still had to pay $23.00. one time I was on my way to the McCormick place and couldn't even get into the parking lot because it was over crowded and the people who were directing traffic were still trying to get people into the garage. The traffic was backed up on to the 55. Horrible!
Awesome place
Awesome place
Went to auto show, great organization, great PR, great security,
Came for the Chicago Auto Show, the whole event was really interesting, thoroughly enjoyed seeing everything there, only complaints were that it was very crowded and all the places for food and drink were far overpriced.
Car show for a first time experience was the best might go next year
Pretty cool place. Website should specify which building events are in though.
Very good place had an hell of an good time there as it was best of yet this year love channel 7 news there as well windy city live see you next year 2021 good job this year 4 the auto show
McCormick Place Rooftop Garden: A Green Oasis in the Heart of Chicago
McCormick Place is a name that resonates with anyone who has ever attended a convention or trade show in Chicago. As the largest and most flexible use convention center in North America, McCormick Place has hosted countless events over the years, from political conventions to auto shows to medical conferences. But what many people don't know is that McCormick Place is also home to one of the city's best-kept secrets: a stunning rooftop garden that offers visitors a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
The McCormick Place Rooftop Garden was created as part of an ambitious sustainability initiative launched by the convention center in 2007. The goal was to transform McCormick Place into a model for sustainable urban development, and one of the key components of this effort was the creation of an expansive green roof on top of one of its buildings.
Today, the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden covers more than 2.5 acres and features over 20,000 plants representing more than 100 species native to Illinois. The garden is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own unique character and purpose.
One section features raised beds filled with vegetables and herbs that are used by chefs at McCormick Place's restaurants. Another area showcases native prairie grasses and wildflowers, providing habitat for birds and insects while also helping to manage stormwater runoff.
Visitors can stroll along winding paths through lush gardens filled with colorful blooms or relax on benches overlooking Lake Michigan while taking in stunning views of downtown Chicago's skyline. Interpretive signs throughout the garden provide information about sustainable landscaping practices as well as details about specific plant species.
But perhaps what makes the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden truly special is its role as a living laboratory for sustainable design practices. The garden serves as a testing ground for new technologies such as green roofs, rain gardens, permeable pavement systems, and other innovative approaches to managing stormwater runoff.
In addition to providing an oasis for visitors seeking respite from city life, this green roof also helps reduce energy consumption within McCormick place by insulating against heat loss during winter months while reducing cooling costs during summer months through evapotranspiration processes which cools down surrounding air temperatures naturally without using any energy-intensive equipment like air conditioners or fans.
The rooftop garden has received numerous awards since it opened in 2008 including recognition from Green Roofs For Healthy Cities (GRHC) which named it "Green Roof Project Of The Year" award winner at their annual conference held in Boston back then; it has been featured on national television programs such as PBS' "Growing A Greener World" series; it even made headlines when former President Barack Obama visited during his time at office!
In conclusion,
The McCormick place rooftop garden stands out not only because it provides visitors with breathtaking views but also because it serves as an example for how cities can incorporate sustainable design practices into their infrastructure projects without sacrificing aesthetics or functionality.
It’s no wonder why this hidden gem continues attracting tourists worldwide who want nothing but peace amidst nature’s beauty!
