Masters Kitchen and Cocktail Review

My favorite brunch place! Always good food and service.

The food was good! Drinks were tasteful but a tad bit lightly poured and a lil on the pricey side! A few of the drinks I couldn't even taste the alcohol. Service was good but they were kinda spread thin so when we got a drink we had to order 2 at a time! And I know it's a cocktail place but they should have a better beer list! They only have about 10 different beers but almost double of each kind of wine. They only had craft beers so dont go in hoping for the basics like Guinness, Budweiser, Corona, or Heineken. Not that I don't enjoy craft beers! Just thought I would make a few suggestions!

This place has a beautiful interior. Lots of living plant arrangements and great lighting. Perfect spot for a date night. The menu is a little unusual and adventurous but I always seem to end up with something tasty. Attentive staff and a clean, classy design makes for a great dinner spot for a special night out.

Our favorite dinner spot in Oceanside. Food is perfect every time, and my wife's lemon drop's consistently the best! Don't know how this showed up as a 2-star before, so sorry we didn't see & correct it sooner!

We come from Fallbrook for this place! If our local pub made their place look like this they would make a ton of money and have a LOT of happy locals! Nice job Masters!

Food was bland, over priced. place is overrated. The best part of my meal was the beer.

Nice atmosphere, good food, service was friendly but too inexperienced and slow for the prices.

Enjoyed Christmas dinner with our son who lives in OC and my brother, sister-in-law , niece and nephew who joined the festivities from Minnesota. Food, drinks and company were memorable!

I wish I lived in Oceanside so I could eat here more frequently, this is some of the best food I've ever eaten and the atmosphere is so lovely. Amazing service and the live music was phenomenal the night my fiance and I ate here, I wish I could've gotten the artist's name!

Honestly, kind of underwhelming. Our server was very nice and attentive but the food was just average for what you pay and isn t as good as the menu descriptions suggest. Some of our egg benedict s were over cooked, the chilaquiles had a very weird asian spice that didn t really belong (of which my friend threw up later on). I got the breakfast burrito and it was pretty good but nothing special; apparently the bottomless mimosas were pretty good according to my friends. Food should be the pinnacle of a restaurant, not bottomless mimosas.

UPDATE: Multiple friends got upset stomachs or got sick during the rest of the day. Had to drop a star.

We've been twice now and both times were great. First visit was right when they opened on a Sunday, they were short staff but everone stepped up.
Food is great as well as the drinks.
I like the ambience of the place, reminds me of some the great place in Seattle that we miss.

We really like Masters Kitchen. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is nice and sometimes they have live music. And the cocktails are tasty. I am a vegetarian and I have always found something I like on the menu. And my husband loves seafood and we can always agree on Masters.

Doesn't matter how good the food is if it never arrives. Service was plain awful.

I order a GOURMET grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup and it came with 2 thin slices of cheese and the most bland tomato soup I've ever had. I took 2 bites and was so disappointed I moved it to the end of the table and the server just passed by looking at it without ever asking if we liked it. Never going there again for the price

Food so good! You either buy more, bring it home, and come back another day!

I'm surprised this place has survived in Oceanside. I've been her many times and had terrible service. The food is meh for the high price. I would only recommend going here for drinks.

We had a good time at this busy venue. The service was great considering how many folks were there and that our server was also handling a large party. Unfortunately, that party's tables were set up so close to our booth that we could barely get in and out. It wasn't necessary to put them that close to us and they seemed a little disconcerted about sitting on top of us. That is why I didn't give them five stars.

The food was great. We had comfort food and split every dish. The server was great about bringing extra dishes to accommodate sharing. We had a wonderful grilled cheese sandwich with delicious thick tomato basil soup for our appetizer. Them we split an excellent casserole of mac'n'cheese with short ribs meat and glazed onions. We ended with a wonderful chocolate dessert.

THE best place I have seen in Oceanside, the staff did everything to make sure we were happy and the food was amazing!

Lively ambience, they had a live singer playing the ukelele.

The booths are a bit too high for eating but the seats are cushioned which I always appreciate.

We got the cheese steak egg rolls and the sauce definitely has a kick to it. The cheese is melted in with the steak which makes it super juicy. I personally loved it.
The short rib mac n cheese didn't quite hit the mark for me. May have needed a bit more spices imo.

Overall good place and I'd likely come back! Love local restaurants.

Fantastic food, great drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere. Great place for brunch on a Sunday.

Eh, not impressed. Have eaten here twice. Once during happy hour. Is it pretty? Yes. Is it downtown close to the beach? Yes. But it is very pricey. A top wine cost us $15 a glass during happy hour and my friend the wine expert said it wasn't even note worthy. I'd say save your money and try LTH right down the street. The drinks during happy hour were small in size and you are not saving yourself anything. The other food we ordered was "ok". Nothing to write home about. I am giving 2 stars because our waiter was funny when he finally brought out the small cheese plate 20 minutes after we ordered it. Seriously? It was just a small sampling of cheese a squirt of sauces and apple slices so thin it makes you wonder why I bothered. No, I would not recommend to a friend.

All day happy hour on mondays. Consistently good food at a fair price. Nice family owned place.

This place is the best. Immaculate kitchen, beautiful bar and dining area... Not to mention the service staff is top notch, they really seem to bend over backward to make a great time for ya. The mezcal selection is great, and the food is nothing short of phenomenal, check it out for your own good.

The service at this location is great. My server Amanda was very keen to help us with refilling water, and checking up on us. They also have a good atmosphere to relax and unwind. My gripe is with their food. The quality is there but the taste was not for me. I got their cubano sandwich and their chicken and waffles. The chicken was bland and the cubano tasted like a BBQ sandwich. I did not try their cocktails which they seem to more proud of. Food was on average $15-16 and portion size is good for people with average appetites.

Most of the menu is small servings and I was not impressed by any of the three things I ate. Good selection of drinks.

I had the pleasure tonight of getting a sneak peek at masters kitchen and Spirits in Oceanside. I brought someone I respect along so I had a good sounding board. We both walked away very impressed, afterword I was talking to a very highly regarded North County Chef about tonight. I came away with two quotes from that conversation that sum it up. Mine was This is good for Oceanside his Oceanside is something to be proud of .

What we had...
Kale ~ Ghost pepper salami, crispy chickpeas, roasted fennel, spiced sultanas.

Note ~ Do not be put off by the ghost peppers, their presence was very mild. great Salad.

Roasted Bone Marrow ~ Melted shallot, herb salad, Sicilian sea salt bread.

Note ~ Just had a version of this dish at Sea & Smoke in Del Mar this one edged it out.

Pan roasted Rib Eye ~ Pickled summer squash, smashed Creamer potatoes, balsamic.

Note ~ Only fault of the night..ordered rare and delivered medium. Staff handled everything perfectly. I still demolished the dish..no way I m sending a still delicious steak.

A great meal and a great addition to North County.

We stopped for dessert and it was good , the selection of food looks amazing. Will definitely be trying it sometime !

The cocktails were good, the food is a bit pricey. The bartender was not wearing a mask.
