Fell short of expectations. Friendly service, but slow. This place is a novelty restaurant for kids. Food was less than mediocre (bland). An impressive amount of work went into building this place, but atmosphere alone doesn't make a good restaurant. Overpriced, and background alien music is annoying, dated, and too repetitive. This place is on life support.

mars 2112 is an awesome restuarant. Its based on alien and space. The whole place is designed to be mars. Its great for kids and fun adults as well. They have this ufo ride that brings you to the basement of the place. The food is fun too, they have alien based food with alien like names.

Bait-and-Switch: They charge $2 per person, but don't tell you until you drag your family there--not even when you call in advance for registrations! The Crazy Mad Scientist host was unintelligible, confusing, pompous, and virtually unhelpful.

Pleasant Surprise: The "ride" in a virtual spaceship to the dining area a was unexpected but pseudo-fun, especially for the kids

Great for the Kids: The characters proactively circle the dining area, and danced, hung out, hugged, and took pictures with the children at our table--and multiple times. The kids loved it. The game room was fun, and not as expensive as Dave and Busters or ESPN Zone, but multiple games were broken--poor maintenance in the game room.

Horrible Food: How does a restaurant mess up ice cream?! And basic hamburgers? Ugh. chewy, dry pasta, tasteless ice cream, rubber burgers. But the waitress was nice.

Empty Bar: The bar area looks like it has potential, but it was completely empty. Assuming they don't have to cook beer, and therefore can't screw it up--but I bet the mixed drinks would suck.

I can't believe this restaurant closed 100 years ahead of time. I thought for sure it would have lasted until the year 2112. It was an awesome restaurant. I enjoyed the whole alien spaceship experience. I went there a few times and each and every time I went there I enjoyed myself. The food was decent, nothing to brag about. The restaurant was so weird that you just wanted to try to go there again. There were people in alien costumes greeting people when they enter. I can tell you that I brought my children to this restaurant and they loved it, it was the utmost "cool" factor for them. It was quite expensive. So for those of you who never go to experience it, you've missed something unique and weird. Those of us who did, well we will be disturbed for the rest of our lives. LOL.

My first experience dining here I was 12, it was only 6 months old at the time and had a national craze behind it. I fell in love with the place, after 5 minutes of me and my cousins being absolutely terrified before getting to our seat! for a kid from the south it only added to the coolness of NYC, it was a real life movie and I was in it. I later visited at 23 with my 14 year old Star Wars/space-fiction crazed niece and little cousins(ages 10-15) and they loved it as well. I called my mother and thanked her for sitting like a champ through such an overpriced, over themed, cheesy restaurant experience. She said "well, while you and your cousins and brother were standing in line for an hour, me and your uncle and aunt were smoking a bunch of pot in the car in the parking garage so it was a pretty interesting experience for us as well, we loved it just like y'all did"

The place is above average due to atmosphere, entertainment value. It's known as an "Eatertainment" restaurant - the emphasis is on the cool SciFi theme, and fun for kids. The food is very average to mediocre. Many adults react to the price of the food, but it's worth it because the entertainment baked into the cost.

The service was Ok although it took long. My waiter kept disappearing. The food was awful they fed me raw Tuna and broccoli, it took fifteen minutes for the waiter to come around and by the time he came around they decided to try again the people at my table were ready to leave. I will never go the again. The food is not cheap the atmosphere is ok. But really made for kids not adults. ok

Yes, yes, yes! I recently enjoyed my second visit (the first being nearly 7 years ago) and nothing at all has changed - this is wonderful. The service is A++!! Once I had brunch, the other time tea service only. The tea is great, the food good too, but it's the service that wins the day! There are attendants waiting on hand to pull your table out if you wish to get up. They are so knowledgeable about the menu and all guests are treated as royalty. A fabulous oasis conveniently located next door to Carnegie Hall.

Bad place with awful food and service and with their outdated and damaged 'games'. Been there a few times in the past and every time I was disapointed. Heard that it closed down and I'm glad that it finally happened.

I normally don't write reviews, but felt compelled because of how memorably horrible this place is, in so many ways. First, we had to wait in line for close to 40 minutes to board a ride to gain access to the restaurant. Admittance to the restaurant costs $2 per person. The ride is a virtual ship built that has clearly not been maintained and is dated looking. You exit through the other side into a subterannean cavern that is supposed to be Mars, but looks more like the bowels of hell, with red rock and flaming baskets hanging from the ceiling. On the right side of the restaurant is a large, out dated projection screen playing some sort of nonsensical, grainy, Martian video. The menu selection was marginal and overpriced with hamburgers costing over 15 dollars. My wife asked about the hamburger and cod fish sandwich and was flatly told by the waiter that the cod sandwich is awful and is returned 70% of the time. The hamburger was dry. My brother ordered nachos which were slathered with cheese wiz. They were inedible and were sent back; the waiter did not appear surprised by this. My chicken marsala was served with a mashed potato still firmly in the shape of the ice cream scoop that dug it out of whatever vat it came from. The chicken marsala also had that negligent school cafeteria feel to it...bland and of questionable origin. My daugther could not even eat her buttered pasta. According to her the butter tasted funny...who knows what they did wrong with that...it was too dark to see what you were eating. Oh, and they had a looping soundtrack of no more than 6-8 songs of horrible fusion spiro gyra futuristic jazz/new age garbage. Vastly overpriced, terrible food quality, oppressive and annoying atmosphere makes this place quite possible the worst eating experience of my life. I've been to places with worse service, but not with so many other horribly bad elements to it. Oh, the bathrooms are filthy, which makes one wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. One other odd, offputting fact: the women's bathroom had a candy vending machine in it! I don't know if the same can be said for the men's room...didn't notice one, but there could be one in there too.
