There was loud noises throughout the night. Upon arriving I was pushed by some drunk gentleman who was clearly under the influence. Loads of smokers and untrustworthy folks outside the front smoking more than just cigarettes. WiFi didn't work and my room had pee in the toilet before I entered. Needless to say, I did not stay long before high-tailing it out on the road again.
I am from out of town and have been staying at the malborough for a few years now for the price and prime location. A lot of nice little changes have been made to make this hotel more comfortable and safer. Wifi is now charged per day per room which is nice as i think there would be less people hanging around for free wifi. Names were taken of guests in rooms. (Less of whoever wandering through) Kelly at the front desk was amazing great customer service big friendly smile she was a real pleasure to deal with! She upgraded us to a king suite no charge which was spacious, comfortable beds and clean. Thanks Kelly! Overall a much better and more comfortable stay than a time or 2 in the past.
If I could give this hotel a lower star rating then 1, I defiantly would. For starters there was homeless people everywhere blocking the entrance and asking for money, parking was 30$ over night just to make sure your car doesn t get broken into. In the lobby there were homeless people trying to ask to sleep on the couches and chairs, this was all in the first hour of being there. Second when we got to our room is was very disgusting and unclean bathtub was full of gross water and door locks were smashed off, we tried to cancel in the first 2 hours of being there because it felt so unsafe, like a zoo . The pool water was yellow and very dirty. They ended up charging us for a full night stay and we couldn t get our money back so we left anyway to a best western hotel
My room was outdated and had duct tape on the windows. The tv was so small we could not see it from our beds. The door handle was broken and guests were loud. The elevators were "possessed" you pressed a floor number and u went to multiple floors before getting to your destination. On a plus side the staff were great!
My experience was terrible I would never go back there again
Well the location is great, the rooms are old and the people hanging out are often try to sell you "stuff". The staff are really nice
Despite the run down decor and rusty water, this place was once something great. I personally love staying in crumbling old castles like this. The free breakfast was surprisingly good.
Absolutely disgusting 0/10will never go back 2 different rooms i was put in had cockroaches first 2 mins i was there was asked if I wanted to buy pills outside the front doors worst hotel I have ever stayed at on the plus side the front desk agents were very friendly and I do give it does have nice architecture and history to it but come on thats not the point.
Dated but nice property, don't expect brand new or modern
Large spacious venue with good service. Lots of shady characters hang out in the lobby however.
Rooms where cold. And someone calling our room at 3am
Pretty fancy old place but have never stayed. Unsure of what goes on out front.
I was extremely dissatisfied with our room. It smelled musty, there was a hair in the tub, chair was broken, pool was shut down. There were people all over that were obviously high, cigarette butts in hallway, elevators didn't work properly. I would not go back here EVER!
Don't ever book an event here. You will dissapointed on there service, no system at all. I will not recommend this place at all...
Beautiful old building with friendly staff. Because it is an older building the rooms and some floors get REALLY cold, which is fixed with a small space heater. WiFi can be flaky. There is a pool, waterslide and hot tub, however during our stay the hot tub had no water in it. Great places to eat nearby and close to transit.
My experience was not good.. we booked SkyView Ballroom. The room attached to it was so stinky. Smell of old place. Cleaning was kind a ok.. not a fan of this location
Hotel itself is alright, access to the event from the parking garage was easy.
to be completely honest this is a Winnipeg landmark but the entire place has slid into a hell hole over the past 20 years it is roach-infested and makes its money off of weekly residence.
Little too old hotel cracked windows bathroom cleaner but bathtub drains so slow
r the sticky carpet the closed pool and the shady lamp shade
Just had breakfast there. Great breakfast special price. Beautiful setting. Service ok.
I booked a room and wanted to cancel because when I walked into the hotel I saw how gross it was. No one had masks on and everyone was yelling at each other. Anyway, I wanted to be reimbursed and after 5 calls they never called me back and in the end they made me pay on my credit card when I didn't even go there. Very disappointing ... I do not recommend going to this hotel.
Not such a decent looking place. Some costs are not specific.
Location is Ellice and Smith stopped in for a few drinks self serve at the bar. Its not at all a fancy place its casual with alot of Natives.
I remembered her well in the Marlbourough Hotel She was famous, her heart was a legend She told me again she preferred handsome men But for me she would make an exception And clenching her fist for the ones like us Who are oppressed by the figures of beauty She fixed herself, she said, "Well never mind, We are ugly but we have Giant Tiger across the street. Room was also good.
the carpet in the room was dirty, bed was lumpy, the bathroom smelled and no mini fridge. i wont be staying there again..
We had our union party at the Marlborough. Good food and really great service. Grace helped us plan the event and she not only made it easy and enjoyable she is very quick to respond to email which made everything run that much smoother in the planning up to the event. When the event was going on she was there making sure we were happy and things were done on time. I would most definitely book an event again with Grace and the hotel based on our experience. Thanks so much and it was a beautiful room we were in (Marlborough hall 8th floor)
The pool area could be so much better . Bang for your buck though
Place was a nightmare! Drunk people asking for money out front, drunk people fighting inside. AVOID!!!
Decent place to have a drink. Crowd is quite diverse.
Very dated. Needs a major rehab. Rejected the first room. The second was better but the AC didn't work. Mattress was beat. The best thing I can say is there were no bed bugs. The staff was nice.
Great breakfast! Bacon eggs hash browns sausages. One beautiful and old winnipeg landmark. Historical landmark over 100 years old
The room was clean and the in room hot tub was wonderful.
ONE STAR BECAUSE I CANNOT POST MY REVIEW WITHOUT GIVING ONE STAR ATLEAST.... worst place ever about an year ago i visited from Regina,sk for couple of days , when i saw my room , it smelled like pee, and nasty . i asked at the front desk , they said they cannot do anything about it and neither can refund money. i ended up leaving my money and getting another hotel
Easily accessible location, the rooms we used were a bit shabby and the drinking glasses were not truly clean.
Worst place to stay appearance sufficient , pool was freezing no water in hot tub advertised hot tube . then had a 7 story window hit the ground about 5 feet in front of me .shower was garbage no pressure and your choice of freezing or scolding hot
The Marlborough hotel was very nice and the staff was really helpful and quick with service.
We were in town for the Metallica concert, so this was the only option close to the show. The food is delicious, and friendly staff. But our room was pretty dirty, we waited 2 hours just to check into it as they said it was being cleaned. All our towels were completely stained, not a single one was clean. The bathtub/shower looked and felt like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Our toilet seat was filthy, with old stains on it from previous guests; so I had to clean it and sanitize it. Our sheets were all stained, so was our blanket. The only thing that was actually clean in our room was our own possessions. It's convenient if you want to explore the area before dark, we watched many arrests and were harrassed outside by many people, I couldn't even walk outside by myself without being grabbed or harrassed. It was omly okay for our vacation since we were hardly ever there, but we definitely will not be returning.
One of the worst hotel I stayed in. 1. The heating was off. It was bloody freezing in the room, 13 degree C. This is absolutely unacceptable. I have kidney problems and it is not recommended for me to stay long in cold places. I asked the receptionist to turn the heat on, but she said it is not possible. 2. The sheets had stains and long hair on it. It was obvious that the room keeping is poor.
Convient location. Close to lots at a decent price.
Friendly staff and clean rooms. Doors locking the individual hallways, which is good as we were met with many homeless people right outside he hotel who tend to come inside. This is a general problem in Winnipeg though and not the hotels fault. Secured parking right across the street.
If there was a -5 that would be my rating! Mold all over in bathroom and shower hair on the bed homeless people everywhere very gross place. Not somewhere you want to spend your hard earned money. Take my advice don t come here!
We were on the 9th floor and it was a really good space, just a little bipolar when it came to temperature
I attended the Marlborough hotel for my brothers wedding reception. It was located on the 8th floor ballroom. The view was absolutely beautiful, the staff was very helpful in making the night perfect for him, getting everything we required
Love the staff...all so welcoming...great work night!!!
This is the worst hotel I have been in my whole life and the stuff are very rude. We booked and paid for double bedroom and when we arrived there they told us they don t have the double bedroom any more they have only single bedroom available.
It is a beautiful historic buildings built in 1914. Wonderfully high ceilings, stained glass windows in the restaurant and other areas. The service is first rate. The location is a tad dodgy, but appears safe.
Had a blast at the Art Space Future Shock gala! The Marlborough Hotel Ballroom in a lovely venue.
Sky room is beautiful as always. One of the best views of Winnipeg.
Very historic. Not allot of extras but excellent service. There is a hot tub & waterside\pool
Went for a wedding the rooms and the food were great the service was awesome I found the bathrooms left a little bit to be desired they had a awful smell
Small room with small beds . Nice and quiet, not enough lighting
Due to Covid 19, the provincial government puts visitors for 14 day quarantine. Had to cancel my NON REFUNDABLE booking with The Marlborough Hotel. I was expecting no, zero refund. But got this fast reply "The Marlborough Hotel sent you a new message: Sorry to hear this! I hope we can see you at another date. :) I have gone and requested your cancellation on your behalf. I hope you have a fantastic day!" Customer service at BEST. Thank you guys, Mak Teb from Hamilton, Ontario
If I can rate lower than 1 start I would love to do it. There was no parking, so I have to park across for $30, the parking lot was very unsafe. The elevator was like a roller coaster, for some reason it always stop at level 4, which made my trip up and down from level 5 twice the fun. Greeting us are 3 roaches, one more hiding inside the coffee maker. The shower was boiling hot, couldn t take the shower, at this time I decided to cancel the room within 2 hours but they charged me for a full night. Will come back and update the free breakfast.
Great location, but lots of homeless people around the hotel main door. Service are not good. They don't have parking.
The worst hotel ever. Tons of furniture.no microwave, fridge or water in the building....
Full of bed bugs, over priced food that they double dip on sales with. Water downed liqour. Meth runs through that entire place. The swimming pool is always closed. The place is disgusting and falling apart. Which is a sad thing because I've always enjoyed that hotel growing up.
Elevator was messed right up. Had to jump in as door slams shut right after opening. Front desk lady was very confused and rooms aren't the greatest. You get what you pay for.
Historic hotel with pool. Price is budget and breakfast included. Rooms are spacious but beds are too soft. Bathroom is outdated and need renovation.
Great experience, i greatly recommend giving it a visit
The absolute worst stay of my life in a hotel.... First we were cleverly told we were upgraded to a "Superior Suite", which only makes sense if the room I requested to be in, was being used. This "Superior" suite, was far from its name, there was hair all over the bathroom and in the towels, the sinks and tubs were dirty, the garbage hadn't been removed, the AC didn't work, and the floors were beyond saturated with a sticky substance. We complained and were upgraded to another "Business" suite, to which we found more hair and the lights were burnt out. Another complaint was made and we ended up leaving and changing hotels. This was all within 15min of being in the hotel......Also, the security guards were extremely disrespectful, stared and made sexual comments, always making sure they were standing behind the ladies to check them out; gross. My friends and family will never stay at this hotel. Unfortunately this review doesn't allow a zero star rating, I'm giving it a 1 because it's the lowest possible.
Had a wonderful catered lunch food was very good dessert was fabulous
The place is old and neglected. All the down and outs seem to gather in the lobby. The room or suite we stayed at was a refurbished one and was still questionable. The hot water was yellow and the heating was not capable of heating ice let alone a room. I would not stay at this place again.
BED BUGS on the bed! Tried to get a refund and was denied. Lots of random people coming in & out of the hotel. Reading the reviews for this hotel and they seem to be false because I cannot see anyone's stay being a "good one", or "comfy beds". Disgusting hotel! Save your self the time and book else where! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!
BED BUGS. Stayed two nights recently and developed characteristic bed bug bites on my hands and arms. I did not see bugs nor address the management but there probably isn't much they would do. Our room had no hot water - it was lukewarm at best. Sketchy people outside the hotel. Overall it was good value for the location and also given that there was a large concert that night. Wouldn't stay again.
Beautiful old building with a restaurant and bar in the premises. There's a pool on the second floor and a parkade across the street.
The hotel is in a horrible area. There were drunk people everywhere. The bathroom was in horrible shape! We walked in and walked out. DO NOT STAY HERE
The beds were comfortable, breakfast was good, and the pool was great. The interior design was beautiful
Never going to stay here again. Woke up with bed bug bites,
kinda ghetto for a bill a day place, indians getting rowdy in the halls n ish. makes it hard to get my john on. But i'd do it again *john squad*
There is a charm in early 20th century architecture which is difficult to find in western Canada. The Marlborough has all this charm but fall unfortunately short of the associated experience. There were a few curious things about our stay which included a deposit to use the TV and a remote which didn't work with that TV, loud and unruly guests late into the morning, and at least one comment regarding hourly rates for the rooms. The staff do come across as being proud of the jobs and our breakfast was pleasant. The complementary meal did not include any drinks other than tea or coffee which is OK for adults but does not work for families with children. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable but the air conditioning did not seem to keep up with the size of the room we were in.
