JSA is that rare thing - an actually decent umbrella company! I've had experience with several of the other 'big names' and JSA's fantastic customer service is secind to none. Suspect any negative reviews are down to jealous competitors or simpletons who just don't understand basic tax principles.

JSA have provided fantastic, responsive service for me over the last 5 years. I highly recommend them.

Having worked with a number of umbrella companies over the years, Vicky Traynor and the team JSA stand out from the crowd due to the professional and efficient service that they provide to agencies and contractors.

The service slows down a bit on Saturdays, but on the whole I have been happy with everything.

I've been using JSA for the best part of three years and I can only say they approach their work with nothing less than the utmost professionalism, attentiveness and a genuine need to assist contractors, whether they require a limited, umbrella company or simply have questions. They're efficient, friendly and I would definitely recommend them.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Korina from JSA- she is really efficient and professional, she answers all queries no matter now silly they seem. She honestly is an asset to the team.

My experience with JSA has been absolutely horrendous!! I have never experienced such incompetence in my life. If you are considering hiring them please don't, spare your poor employees or yourself the suffering I had to go through.

I was forced to work with JSA by the recruitment company that hired me to do supply work for a school and I constantly had issues with them. I didn't receive my first payment until I followed up with them, they then told me it was because my bank details were changed on their online platform and it was my responsibility to let them know (which is not stated anywhere). Funny thing though is that I did email them before payment was due to let them know my bank details have changed. Which they then obviously had no response to, except that they could send me 100 pounds to hold me over until I get my payment. Uhm, how about you just pay me my money?!

There were also multiple occasions where I would ask a question, get an answer from a consultant, to then later just be told that the consultant was wrong. I did bring this all to my company and JSA's attention, which obviously got JSA springing into action all of a sudden. However, then COVID and furlough happened. JSA already can't do the bare minimum, and now they actually need to do something. Which they didn't! JSA didn't get everything in order in time so that we could get paid 80% of our salaries, but instead we could only get 80% of the minimum wage. They did not seem to care that people had families or bills to pay, it was just another 'Oops, we messed up.' In the end they sorted it out, but for them to put people through unnecessary stress during an already stressful time is basically the JSA way.

If you are considering joining as an umbrella customer, I would advise to find a different company. Every time I need assistance, I get issues, lots of incompetence and things that in a normal company could get sorted out in minutes are being dragged out to days!

I always receive a stellar service from Dawn and her team. Even in this new "normal", I always get a quick response from Dawn. Dawn and her team are very professional and very accommodating. I work on projects with very tight deadlines and as a result I find myself submitting my VAT returns at the last minute but I have been very impressed by Dawn's team turnaround of reviewing and submitting the return on time. I have received sound advice from JSA on my IR35 situation for which I am very grateful. Whenever I need clarification on any accounting or tax issues, I can rely on getting the best advice from Dawn and her team. I am very satisfied with the service that I receive from Dawn and JSA. I am happy to recommend their service any time.

I've worked with JSA and in particular, Natalie and Caroline for over 2 years now. They have always provided an excellent customer service and are always approachable, regardless of what time of day I call them. I would highly recommend their services.

Dawn Shepherd has been my personal accountant for a number of years now. Dawn has shown greater flexibility in my case as I am always submitting my records or making last minute requests and in all cases these have been dealt professionally and efficiently. Dawn and her team have provided me with what I call " a service with a difference" - they have demonstrated expertise in their field. It is a great pleasure to work with Dawn and her team.

As an umbrella, they are not able to do the bridge between me and my clients. They said to you, they set up a weekly payment, but if your client choose to paid you 30 days after your work, you will not receive the money until 40 days sometimes.
They forgot to send invoice to my client.
I got some errors on my timesheet.

And I feel really bad, because they charge you on your payslip, but at the end, I don't see where this money go, as they are not able to do their job.

Don't go with them as an umbrella.

I started my own Limited Company to provide professional service in my field of specialism back in late 2017, using JSA's services for support. I have always found them helpful, timely and efficient. When I have had specific queries they have been dealt with clearly and correctly. So overall I am very satisfied, especially with the personal attention that I have had from my main contact, Dawn.

In the short time I have used JSA Ltd they have always been very efficient in the delivery of any service I required.
Once timesheets were sent in they were processed quickly and payment sent without delay.

If your thinking about using this company specifically as an umbrella, it s not worth the hassle. During this pandemic they stated I wouldn t be eligible for furlough (including a manager), had to explain to them how the government guidelines worked regarding this and only then did they pay what I was owed. They lacked in professionalism and were incompetent. I will be moving to another umbrella company that is reputable. Appalling service.

All-in-one package. I've used JSA Services since starting my Ltd Company 13 years ago, and after a shaky first few months (some of which may have been my inexperience or expectations) and since the launch of a new portal with a much improved dashboard and ease of use it has been a doddle to keep on top of things. I have kept a spreadsheet alongside the online stuff 'just in case' and have not needed to use it or correct anything. I use them for my insurance package (as part of the monthly cost) which is cost-effective, and they are my HMRC agent (saving me time doing all that too). When I've needed additional advice they have come up trumps every time with speedy replies. If my dedicated account manager is unavailable someone will pick it up. I would definitely recommend them, especially if you are just starting out or 'don't do accounting'.

I've used JSA since 2011 and I've never had any problems. They've also helped me claim tax relief on R&D activities we have been working on. Overall a great service.

Highly recommended. I've worked with JSA for several years both as my umbrella company and they've help me set up and manage my limited company. In both capacities they have been outstanding. Fast, responsive, efficient, kind, helpful... If you ever have a question, anyone who answers the phone can check your record and answer confidently - no passing around to different departments or anything like that. They are a joy to work with.

The worst accountant company ever. Never recommend it.

When these guys were my pay agency, they were the perfect compliment to the horrible teaching agency (Engage) that I was with. Very disorganized, inconvenient hours, every payment process was super slow, sometimes response time was several hours during office hours; complicated process that always resulted in me missing deadlines and having to pay service fees to get paid. So glad I wasn't with them for very long. Engage forced its employees to use this agency.

Extremely poor services. Highly automated with accountants in charge changing frequently, therefore ending in a confusion. They also avoid to give any substantial answers over your queries, obviously trying to avoid "taking responsibility" while at the same time they act on your behalf. Disappointed

No query too trivial, they have gone above and beyond for me.

Over the last year JSA has guided me in setting up my business and they have been excellent in answering all of my questions. Everyone I have dealt with has been a pleasure to do business with.

Absolutely everything perfect first time, no mistakes, no ambiguities.

They have made many errors in the few months I've been with them. They've sent me other companies VAT returns and have got mine wrong a few times. Every time I receive an email from them I have not faith in it being correct. Still awaiting their reasons for giving me a miscalculated tax bill for the quarter.

Excellent service, my accountant knows what she is talking about and makes stuff I thought was complicated easy for me to understand.

I have used JSA before as an umbrella company and they have been amazing. However, a whole different experience with the accounting team. I am paying over 180 a month, but have been left to do things myself, or chasing up the accountant team- payroll set up and VAT registration. My personal account has not spoken to me once, which is disappointing. Professional handover has taken so far 9 days still not complete.Although i have been told that they are submitting my PAYE, now after 7 days been told they have not.

The only reason i have not given 1 star, Sejal has been amazing but she is not my accountant.

For our visa application we required accountant letter and Chris Kriticos was able to provide it on a very short notice. He promptly made the suggested changes and posted the letter. I highly recommend Chris from JSA Group.

I have had nothing but trouble since JSA took over NL and I have decided to ditch them. Expensive, unreliable and have over-charged on occasions - your accountant should be protecting you!
There are definitely better options out there...

Please please please do not use this company as a umbrella company, they never paid correctly and then stated they have over paid me and want to take me to court, even though I never refused to pay but wanted proof of their claim. 3 months later I have never received a P45 or P60, or any documents I requested. But they still want the money. Worst experience of my life.

I have been with JSA for 18 months and they have progressively got worse. Staff are helpful but processing pay terrible. Started to pay me after 3.30pm when banking day finishes so any bill due out that day goes unpaid and I get bank charges. I cant be bothered to argue with them anymore so I am leaving and I will not be recommending them.

JSA have prepared my tax return (SATR) for over 20 years now and they are very strongly recommended for their professionalism, efficiency, expertise and value for money. My SATR for this year was prepared in record time by Senior Accountant Lyndsay Parsons and with the expertise and professionalism which I have come to associate with JSA. If you are looking for certainty of delivery and good value in accounting services then you need look no further.

Absolutely do not use this umbrella company under any circumstances. Consistently get my pay slip wrong, pay me late, hard to get in contact with. Wish I'd done more research instead of just going with who my recruitment agency recommended. 100% would not use this company.

They also rarely reply to you. You ll be chasing them for the most basic enquiry or question, because they won t bother to give you a response that isn t automated.
