Great pub with wonderful views from the beer garden

Nice food and good selection of drinks. Nice big garden with lovely views. It also has a nice little play area for the kids.

Nice surroundings and a good atmosphere. Friendly service. Food was good; excellent choice for vegans but a little restrictive for vegetarians who aren't so strict. Overall very good

I had an amazing dinner at this pub. I ordered the chicken with asparagus and it was very good, better than a lot of the fancy food I've eaten in London. There's something to be said for simple food made with local ingredients. My dessert was lovely too. Definitely highly recommend if you're passing through, particularly on a Saturday night when I suspect the main chef is working :)

It's just won Best Pub in East Sussex. Part of the growing Whiting and Hammond group of excellent gastro pubs it has a great location with stunning views. Great food and a lovely team led by Amy.

The food was OK but it was like sitting in a McDonald's in fact the only person missing was Ronnie himself. Unbearable, children everywhere my ears are still ringing.

Recently re-opened/refurbished after an accidental fire. Looked lovely in the August Bank Holiday sunshine at lunchtime, a little brighter inside now as all the wood at the bar is now a touch lighter than that previously used.

The beer garden was particularly nice with a good crowd gathering as the sun shone across the valley in the distance. There's also a nice kiddies play frame tucked away behind a hedge for the younger guests. The car park is fairly large.

Typical beer and food from a Whiting and Hammond group pub - a good selection and reasonably priced compared to some other pubs in the area. This pub is always worth a visit.

Very impressive looking pub on arrival. But had run out of pinot grigio. Our orders got forgotten several times, Drinks took ages to come out as did the starters which my wife's was not cooked properly which we was not charged for, but still disappointing

The service in these difficult times of social distancing was exemplary. We were provided with a fine quality takeout roast dinner in place of a cancelled reservation for Mother s Day. The meal was excellent. Many thanks Mark Cross Inn, I wish you well until we can eat in your establishment again.

Awesome pub! Great food, lots of it and very tasty, and beer/wine excellent too. Check the wine cage in the centre of the pub. Looks tiny from outside, but mysteriously like the Tardis when you enter. Little play area for kids at the back, where the stunning views of the countryside are! Go there.

Does not cater for children even though requested high chairs on booking they do not have any. Food is average but very over priced, Not the most welcoming family restaurant .

It was dreadful a year or so ago, and I had expected to see some improvements after that time; sadly, apart from a couple of pleasant staff members, nothing has changed.
Limited menu, vastly over-priced for the small portions served.

Sparrows flying through the dining area, and elsewhere, narrowly missing diners and those nearer the bar!
Not serving Harvey's is a nonsense, but not critical...

I have just had a Roast dinner with my family at the Mark Cross Inn, a pub we have used frequently over the past few years. I can only describe the food as inedible, the service non existent and the manager as one of the rudest people I More

One of my favorite lunch pubs. Great views, good food and friendly stuff. A good menu, recently updated,which is varied and nice.

Quick drink on my way to somewhere else. Really impressed. Going back to try the food asap. Watch this space.

The service was uncoordinated, had 5 different staff serve us. Drinks took ages to come to the table, the food arrived before the drinks did.

Lovely spacious garden and a place for kids too. Excellent food and good real ales. Quite smart and a good venue for parties. A big carpark and set in a pleasant village and adjoining countryside.

Great old pub restaurant with a wide choice of excellent food and plenty of parking. The pie of the day was fantastic.

Beautiful pub, great service and lovely food. Could we ask for just a few more parasols please? No shade so headed off after a drink but we would have stayed for lunch. But overall it was great.

Very slow service. Food cold and sent back. Log fire went out. Given wrong Bill. A complete disaster for the Mark Cross Inn and our party of 4. Will NOT GO BACK.

Back in the UK for Christmas, met friends here. Very good beer and bar staff. Excellent young man waitering. Food good. Live music was very good.

On the vegetarian menu it said vegan options available please ask, when I asked if vegan cheese I was almost laughed at, lovely deco and views. Also nice staff.

Average at best! only 7 of us and they managed to get a few of our orders wrong and pudding didn't go well as 5 of us finished before the other two even got there's and we even had to cancel one when we we're ready to pay as it was so late.

Won't be going back again.

It might be better if they had more staff.

My husband and I met here 15 years ago so go back every year for our meeting anniversary! And lots of other occasions over the years- happy and sad times. Good menu something for everyone, good beer too! Lovely surroundings whether you are inside or out on the patio. Always very friendly, helpful staff. Would recommend for all sorts of occasions and family parties.

We visited for first time on 21/05/18 at lunchtime. Excellent service and food. Lovely outdoor and indoor space.

Excellent food, service and ambiance. Great range of food and drink on the menu. The 3 year old with us greatly enjoyed the play area outside. Only slight negative was that it was busy and difficult to find a parking place.

Very pleasant 'gastro pub' which, albeit a bit pricey, does allow dogs and has a nice ambience.

Decent enough food but SO overpriced. 5 people, 1 ploughmans, 1 cheese plate and 2 sandwiches and we still managed to spend over 100 UKP.

Lovely little place to come for a celebration. We had a family birthday party here with a lot of guests, they handled it very well, all the meals came out at the right times and their customer service was great. The food was a bit expensive, but other than that everything was really good.

Beautiful on the inside and set up very nicely on the outside, a varied menu with plenty of options and the staff are happy to make a recommendation of you're not sure what to have. Service was excellent and outdoor seating a real treat as it was so hot I couldn't bear to be inside. They have lots of lovely plants and decoration and also heaters if needed, the food is really good and there was plenty of parking so there was no stress trying to park.

Nice country pub with wide selection on menu. Great views from the garden on a summers day.
