Been to over 8 VAMCs in the country and this VA is definitely the worst. Their director must have no clue of how to run their facilities. 99% of the employees are special and they are very unaccommodating for immediate needs. F$&k this place, oh and check out their negligent death track record.

If you have to call on the weekend, you will not talk to anyone who can help you. The person who answers the phone will shunt you to a line that is not manned after hours and you will sit on hold until you finally hang up. Just go in to the emergency room and save yourself some time.

Very very poor service from the optical shop. Provided no assistance with glasses I can not use. Three times I went to the optical shop, took the #1 card and waited over 45 minutes each time. I was told I needed to make another ($50) appt with optical Dr.

Completely total lists when it comes to benefits. " We tried to contact you" yet zero missed calls . If possible use another VA avoid Marion at all costs
Not to mention knee issues since 2007 they ignore
. Also don't ever admit to the Marion system that you drink alcohol or they'll write you off

Been several times, always in to see doctor within 15 minutes of my scheduled time. I see and hear others complain of wait times, have you heard that other patients are ahead of you and may have questions that take longer than their alloted 15 minute window.

Be patient and you will see the doc you are there for. I have had excellent swrvice from the eye doctor, dental, ER, and Pain Management. Also nice that if you need they will aend you to outside help if you live a long ways away. I personally have almost a 2 hour drive to get to Marion and they are prompt with getting you into the local clinic or outside care as needed.

My grandpa Wasn t feeling good and had to stay there for a few days, after he stayed there, there was no one at the front desk to watch anyone go out the doors.Me and my parents went to check on my grandpa and no one saw him sneak out get something to eat and then come back to the hospital and still no one was there and he threw up. The staff should take better care of their patients and someone or a security guard should watch the main doors. Thanks to this happening, he can t go back to the VA. We are never come inch back here because they are horrible and also the floor is so sticky you can t get around. Now my grandpa is in the Marion hospital in a coma. I hope this place gets shut down soon or eat repaired.

The VAMC in Marion, IL is amazing. I spent a couple of years at Naval Medical Venter San Diego during a medical retirement board. I thought NMC San Diego was efficient and awesome. Given the lack of funding to the VA in general and all the bad press at the time I wasn t looking forward to transitioning to the VA medical system. Boy was I wrong! If they can t see yo in a reasonable amount of time they are happy to send you out to a provider near your home vis a vis the veterans choice act. I have had numerous procedures at VAMC Marion and every time I was treated wonderfully. The entire staff is amazing and thoughtful and helpful. I can t say enough good things about this VAMC. The campus is nice and compact. And the executive staff understands that they win when patients are healed and sent back out into the world as opposed to civilian medicine which seems to be incentivized to have you back often and heal you in their own sweet time. This VAMC is easy to find no matter what direction you approach from.

If your a Vet near Marion, IL, then you should definitely should be getting your health Care here.

My review is solely based on the care I have received at the Medical Center. I have been twice to the radiology department and both times I had an excellent experience. I was greeted and treated pleasantly by the receptionist. My wait time was very minimal & the procedure took very little time as well. I was treated with respect and kindness by the technicians and staff. My thanks to the department for an outstanding service you provide.

I thought this place was a privatized prison and just decided to look on maps to see what it was surprised it's a hospital. Definitely looks Masonic the way the buildings laid out and the big pyramid on top . There's a bunch of trailers or portable Buildings in the back. I'm wondering what's going on back there.. .? It's crazy how they can have a big fancy building like this and the Vets can't get decent medical care

Terrible. So my Doctor, Dr. Dawal, refused to give me anything for pain for almost a year. She finally got me into pain management clinic a year later and she told me if I needed pain medications for service-connected disabilities I would have to look elsewhere. Which is fine, I don't like pills and I only have injury pain a few times a week. Wanna know how to avoid dealing with the VA...dont enlist.

I am an OIF Veteran who has been receiving healthcare from the Marion IL VA Medical Center since 2006. I have had an awesome experience at the Marion IL VAMC: friendly helpful staff, clean hospital, no problem getting appointments and other services. Don t believe all of the nonsense you hear in the news about the VA, many times it is inaccurate or greatly exaggerated. I would strongly encourage my fellow Veterans to sign up and get the great healthcare they earned.

They lied saying my dads cancer was gone while it was spreading through his body.. Way to take care of your veterans!! Luckily there are decent people who work there and respect the patients and try to give them the best care.. They saved your hospital...

I travel all the way here over 90 miles for care because the STL VA is so bad! Here the people who work here for the most part seem to care. Most smile and are warm and friendly. Fortunately I don't need care that much...yet, but I am getting older. Overall a good place for vets to get help.

In comparison to the VAMC I went to in El Paso, this one is great. In one year I managed to finally get a knee surgery I've needed for 5 years, new glasses, two rounds of physical therapy, a referral to an outside GI doc in which I had various procedures and a diagnosis within 3 months, and I finally was able to see a therapist for awhile. In 5 years at the El Paso VA I asked but was never able to see one. Here, it's overall just better care. The staff here is wonderful, the doctors actually seem to care and you receive personal recommendations for VA services available that will tend to your needs.
Appointments can take awhile. This is with any VA. If you know you need one, call as soon as you know. If they have nothing within 30 days be sure to ask about the choice program. If it's for a cold or flu or you just need a note for the day, call your clinic or just do a walk in. There is also a sort of 24 hr ER on site. Absolutely wonderful for when you don't want to go to a really big, and loud ER. However, If your injury or illness is very serious I'd recommend going somewhere else. I've only been here for a sprain and a really high fever.
I never thought a VA like this existed. I am honestly pleased.

I take screenshots of my phone every time I call because I've never been on hold anything less than 20 minutes. I literally just put it on speakerphone and listen to the hold music and go about my day until someone decides to pick up. On several occasions I've waited on the line and then driven to the office, 25 minutes away, only to still be on hold when I walk up to reception. Clearly a lack of care; I've left voicemails (because no one answers) with the Patient Care Advocate to file a complaint, only to never receive a call back. Almost laughable except we're talking about the health of our Veterans.

Live in vincennes and have a possible ruptured disk in my back. Couldn't make the drive with my back. Dr. Muffti the chief of medicine actually told me that they have options to get me there but since I don't have an oxygen tank or a wheelchair than I have no options and I don't qualify for the health choice program. I only have the 2 stars because they only took 2 days to get back with me on how to switch to Terre haute (which I have to do myself). It is a joke. Wishing our veterans the best of luck.
