Manta Dive & Bungalows Review

Excellent fun dives with experienced dive guides who spotted a lot more than I would have on my own! Service was very personalized, however we visited at a time of very few visitors (because of Covid travel restrictions). I understand it could be very different with a packed boat. Nonetheless, everyone tried their hardest to make our experience easy and memorable. Well done, Manta Dive!

The dives here are amazing but the staff are better! Met amazing people. Also a great spot to hang out/eat/drink something between dives

What I found its best feature was the staff. Polite, courteous, but more importantly they were engaging. Happy to share info about their daily lives, family & culture.

Just a super nice hotel, right in the action but still an oasis of peace. Breakfast very delicious especially the cereal, you have to try. Super clean and big rooms, would come back anytime.

Cool and easy but very professional diving school. I have learned to love diving through this school. Special thanks to my instructors Hai and Tracey at this point, keep up the good work !!

The food in the Manta Dive is also extremely delicious and recommended. I can not judge the rooms because I slept somewhere else.

If you want good food and want to get to know the indescribable water world, go to Manta Dive! For insecure there is also a one-day discovery course who is highly recommended.

Did Open water Ssi in 3 Days. Manta Dive was very professionell, it was really awesome, have seen a lot, can't discribe . Greatful thanks to Jojo, she was an awesome Dive Guide.

The chicken burger was the best had on island. The beef burger was not as good.

Prices here seemed cheaper than restaurants further up from peir

Just went to the bar and had my first ever mi goreng burrito...it was fantastic. If I'm back to the Gilis one day I'll come back for my second one :-)

Good place, have breakfast with large portions, 35-55k per dish. Large wooden chairs, right on the waterfront, many street vendors constantly offer to buy something. There is a free toilet.

Good hotel with a very good location in the area of more environment of the island but at the same time maintains privacy and tranquility.

Only went there for dinner. Have waited at least 15 minutes for them to take our order. They didn't have some groceries then. Our drinks came after another 30 minutes. If you asked the waiter something, he first came without a pen and pad and had to go back several times to get him. Our meal finally came after 45 minutes, which was at least halfway okay, although my cheeseburger could hardly be called that, as there was only a tiny amount of grated cheese in the burger. We then noticed that about 5 minutes later they had neither chicken, beef or rice. So an Asian cuisine without the basis for Asian food. Then we wanted to pay, and the bill was brought to us and then tried to make the waitress aware that we had already given the money. She looked at us and then just kept chilling. At the end we were given the wrong change.
I definitely cannot recommend it

We didn t stay at the accommodation but joined the Fun Dive only. The equipments are new and the instructors also made sure those are clean and ready before introducing to us. We had Kris, Julian , and Karen , as Instructors. They are professional in all areas and always always always make sure you are feeling comfortable and also if any questions in mind. As a first time diver , the way they illustrate the instructions and skills are easy to understand. My friend and I had a great time throughout. Definitely recommend to people consider going !

Very cool diving school! Many instructors who speak a lot of languages and explain everything in detail. We first planned to only do a fun dive but ended up doing our open water and advanced dive training thanks to Tom and Kevin!

Review for RESORT Only:
Very beautiful bungalow in Asian style with western finish. Great beds, big outdoor bathroom (loved it despite my initial worries about higiene, mosquitos etc). Extremely cozy bungalows. Perfect location, great breakfast and friendly staff.
However!
This resort has the slowest internet connection encountered on any trip so far (if it connects at all) The staff was very friendly and got in contact with the provider, but this would not help, and according to previous reviews this seems to be a known problem. Other hotels and restaurants provide good internet services and I think that for the price of this hotel such a basic feature should not fail...
As we were not on Gili to be online 24/7 this was not a problem, but should you need good internet access for any reason do not chose this place.
Also, the first night the pillows had slight bloodstains on them, however this was taken care of the next day without our need to intervene.

So, all in all a totally recommendable place, perfect location, great staff and breakfast, only loses one star to a very simple feature, the internet...

Only ate at the bar. Took a while to get the food, but the place was pretty crowded which might explain it. Nacho plate was great.

One of the most complete hotel restaurant on the island, with a siege diving school. Don't expect the quality of the rooms or the European food but all in all in line with the rest of the trawangan locals. The restaurant bar like many is on the beach and has a nice view of the sea and Gili Meno. The waiters are what they are you should open a chapter of their own so do not leave the one on their menu otherwise you send them into confusion

Could not have been a better experience. I came to stay for a couple of days on the suggestion of a friend. I had heard about the insane amount of turtles that were around the area so that was the main draw for me. I really did not expect that they were going to be the least exciting part of my trip.
I arrived to the shop and was immediately greeted and made to feel welcome by several members of the staff. They put me on the board to dive the next day and convinced me to book my advanced course (it didn't take much persuading, I was already sold by the atmosphere of the place). From there, I fell absolutely in love with the place. My two days turned to 5 days and when I couldn't stand to leave, I finally decided to stay on more permanently and complete my Dive Master training at the shop.
I've seen sharks (white and black tip), octopus, cuttlefish, lionfish, banded sea snakes, alllll different kinds of eels (ribbon eel, so stinking cool), an enormous school of giant trevaillies, a MANTA (basically a religious experience underwater), lots of jenkins and blue spotted ray, and I fostered a love for the countless amounts of teeny tiny nudibranch. Also, if you have the chance to do your advanced or already have your advanced, definitely go night diving. The bioluminescent plankton are out in force!
I'm at the end of my time here now and this rave review has been long overdue. My experience with Manta Trawangan has been nothing but positive. The staff at the shop cares so deeply for the safety and wellbeing of their customers. The people in the office are tireless to make sure that the guests stays are carefree. The local staff always greet you with a smile and a joke and, might I say, the most AMAZING food! I would say I probably put on 10 lbs?.. It was well worth it though. If you're in doubt of where to go on Trawangan, I swear on my shiny new Dive Master certification card that you won't regret it!

Out of the world... My first dive it was, and whenever I come to Gili T again I will go to Manta without even thinking about anyone else. My mentor Jared and dive master were fabulous, guided our group from orientation till the end of our dive very patiently! JoJo explained us about the norms and risks very well at the time of registration. The equipments and other gears functioned well, no last minute hiccups. They also have a cool Cafe and lounge area just near the training pool which offers good food and drinks option at decent prices. Thank you for being fabulous guys !

Rooms are extremely nice and situated in a great part of the island. Would highly recommend.

The best diving center I had a chance to dive with during my stay in Indonesia. All the people are the friendliest and always happy to help. They were answering all my questions for 15 minutes even though I wasn't booking anything on my first visit. Also, they are not trying to "optimize" the dives, which means there is always a number of dive guides on each dive, which means there are usually 2-3 people in the group, or even less. I was lucky to have a solo dive twice, for a normal price. Thanks to Ozy, who was a really good (and fun) guide during both of them.

We loved our stay at Manta, so much that we got an extra night.
The staff are so friendly and helpful and happy to assist with anything.

The room is big with a huge comfy bed, very beautiful shower room and Aircon, fridge etc....
The pool is lovely and there is another diving pool too. We also dived with Robbie and had a great dive!
Would definitely recommend and also come back again.

Amazing diving center! Very high quality education, over 15 great instructors and 3 boats (which means even though it's a big center there is always space for you!). Several dives a day on different dive site that offers great diversity. You can learn to scuba from 0 (or just a try :) ) all the way to doing a professional education such as Divemaster or Instructor, also offering Tech dive.
As for the hotel, also very high quality, good spacious rooms with open bathroom, warm showers and even complementary products
The hotel has a wonderful breakfast and a pool to chill if needed !

Gili Trawangan is one of the three dyke dyke that is located in the North Lombok Regency. The three dyke are Gili Meno, Gili Ayer, and Gili Trawangan. These three dyke are well-known as tourist sites which are visited by many local and foreign tourists. This place is surrounded by white sand beaches. Many foreign tourists and local tourists feel at home and want to stay for a long time on this small island due to the beautiful natural panorama of the beach.

Excellent location, great accommodation, nice people, good food, good price. You may consider staying further away from the centre, but allthings considered this is the heart of Gili T. If you dive or want to learn this is where you want to be, whether alone or couple or group. You are close to everything. If you want a huge pool and party in pool this isn't the place, try ombak sunset. But remember you need to take horse at Rp 100,000 each way or hire a bike, sounds good but if you enjoy cycling you probably won't here, it is very hot, very crowded and bikes are not great. If you don't dive it might not be as great, to fair I dive wife doesnt, but she enjoyed the pool.

All in all a nice experience. For absolute beginners, however, not recommended. You drive with about 25 people on a boat to Dive Point. Once there, you will be pushed off the boat in groups of four at the same time. Partly before some had their regulator in their mouths. Personally, I did not find that beneficial. However, the dive masters are very nice and I never felt insecure. In general, however, rather mass processing and little personal.

Probably the best diving we've ever done. Special thanks to Mul for being a brilliant, chilled out DM who was great at pointing out all sorts of marine life. Thanks to him we saw baby reef sharks!

I've done the open water certification with them and couldn't be better. Simo was a really nice dive master and all equipments/infra was really good.

Me and my girlfriend both stayed and dived at Manta dive for a few days and it was great. Room was clean and well decorated. It had a cool bathroom that is outside but mainly.covered though left you showering under the stars. It has great facilities for diving with easy going instructors and some great dive sites. All in all a top experience

This place is amazing, come here!
Here's why:
-staff is resort quality, they will do anything to make your stay better.
-dive instructors speak tons of languages, "we speak your language" is what is on the sign.
-dive sites are good and perfect for beginners. Gentle current diving and tons of sea life!

Oh! And the rooms are reasonably priced, bungalows are brand new, and the place is centrally located... About 30 meters south from the "ferry terminal".

If you are experienced, make sure to request a local guide. Enthusiastic guys, good English, will find you almost any type of creature under the water.

One dive: 3 sharks (small ones... ~1 meter), 5 turtles, 1 cuttlefish, 4 nudibranches, and tons more! Make sure to tip the local guys, they will love you forever!

Oh, food is good, booze is reasonable, and 1 final time, the hotel and dive staff are superb!

Made a beautiful dive under excellent supervision where we saw many fish and several turtles. The atmosphere was very layed back and the instructor relaxed.

We spent one week my wife and I at Manta Dive Gili Trawangan to get the SSI Open Water and with no hesitations we really recommend this place to you!

Everything here is as it should be...rooms are awesome ( ours was n.14 ) looks new and definitely clean with all facilities you need, long swimming pool to relax between 2 dives ;) a pool bar, a restaurant to give you all the energy you will need for very affordable prices, the dive shop, the pool for technical trainings.
All scuba diving equipments are in very good conditions, instructors are very professionals and very friendly ( our instructor was the super famous Jared...thanks for your patience Jared )
