Expensive and small portions. While the food was good, though can do better by going across the street to Braii Republic
Expensive and small portions. While the food was good, though can do better by going across the street to Braii Republic
The food was satisfying
It tastes good and the amount is good
However, it is uncomfortable because the table is narrow and the chairs are too hard.
The staff was really friendly and the food was really good too.
Amazing rib. the photos below should explain more than words. Also have few taps for beer. It does get crowded on weekends so expect some waiting
American barbecue in Korea is like a fool! The barbecue is delicious, but personally the side menu is more delicious!
Amazing! I've enjoyed mind blowing BBQ in Austin TX and Manimal was on par! We devoured the three meat plate after a long day exploring the city. Super great value and fabulous quality.
The food is absolutely delicious. Good old American BBQ. The price is a bit steep though.
it's delicious. I think it's okay for this price in Itaewon.
I visited twice, and it's regrettable that both menus were out of stock.
Rather expensive for not a lot of food. It's tasty though.
Absolutely fantastic. The raspberry ribs are to die for
Having moved to Korea after three years in Texas this is as close to Texas BBQ as I think you will find here. It was extremely good. The Ribs were amazing. Pulled pork was great and the green chili Mac and Cheese is amazing.
This is simply the best restaurant in Korea in terms of food, service, cleanliness, and food. Yes I said food twice. It's that good.
A fantastic combination of American style barbeque and homemade beer !!
Been here multiple times and it has been consistantly good. Pulled pork or chicken are worth trying
it took us a really long time to get our food even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. I ordered the chicken and the mac and cheese. the chicken was well seasoned but I was a fan of the macaroni dish.
The food was great but they ran out of certain types of meat such as briskets. The price seems a bit pricey but the food is great. Was a bit disappointed with the fact that some of the meat ran out.
The interior is small and the lighting is nice and the vintage atmosphere is so good
The staff are very friendly and the food is really good ~
The sides and sauces elevate the main dishes. We left no morsels on the plate.
Update, revisited after about a year. Going to have to drop a star as this time the brisket was kind of dry. The highlight of the meal was actually the grilled vegetables and grits side dish. I kind of just wanted a big bowl of that and dive in...so good!

This place is well worth the price! It just might be the best western barbecue place I have ever been to as of yet...Did not expect to find something this good in Seoul. The meats are cooked perfectly, they are juicy and flavorful. The sides are good too, but I would suggest to the owner to change the green chili mac to maybe bacon and cheese mac, as all the food have a sweet flavor, the bitterness of the green chili makes it taste extra bitter.
Oh by the way this place is on the second floor and you have to walk down a narrow alley and up a skinny meal stairway to reach the entrance...I was really skeptical that this was the entrance at first as it seemed really sketchy but once your inside it has a nice atmosphere but it is a relatively small restaurant with limited seating.
Straight up the best American BBQ in Seoul. The prices might be a little on the high side from what you're used to back home, but it definitely hits the spot if you're missing classic American BBQ. If this place had a more extensive cocktail menu, you wouldn't be able to keep me away!!
What I'm about about to say might be shocking, but I say that with full responsibility: That's the place where I've eaten the best meal of my life. Period.
Like the local restaurants in the United States, pork chops and cowls are all delicious.
Friendly and generally young atmosphere.
It's a disappointment because there are always sold outs in the main and side dishes every time I visit. But on this visit, I saw Tusk, who works in the kitchen. I ate quietly, but my intention to revisit disappears
Great place to eat! The food was outstanding. The bbq sauce was very flavorful. Eating the food you would think you're eating at a bbq joint in America. The staff were real nice too. Try the Itaewon Pale Ale. It was delicious. Great place to eat!
The meat is delicious and it's a completely American barbecue. Chicken was the best and beer was delicious.
This place was recommended for the bananamal dessert (banana pudding/banana ice cream/banana slices), but they changed the menu. They have NO DESSERT! With that said, the bbq potion was amazing. The Pit-master platter was just enough for our group. I would also recommend the Kickin Mule. If they had dessert, I would have given 5.
Food was amazing. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Price was a little on the high side but worth it
Above all, it was delicious. The price is also good
Definitive Southern barbecue in Seoul. All the other smokehouses went off Manimal's example but none can compare. Pricey but worth it because the chef has a passion for smoked meats.
great experience. a very small place, so plan in some waiting time. but it`s worth it. all the meats were great - chicken, pork, pulled beef ... everything was very delicious. juicy and melting in your mouth. great choice
The meat just melts in your mouth. If you want the ribs, specifically the baby back ribs then get there early. They usually run out of the ribs. And there is always a long wait usually at night. Gotta have patience to eat here but the food is worth the wait.
I feel like Manimal is overrated. There is this big smoker taking up quite a bit of space behind the glass, but the meat barely has any smoke flavor at all. The smoked chicken is tasty, as is the mac n cheese, but if you are looking for authentic bbq, go elsewhere. Both sauces are terrible, and the rest of the food leaves much to be desired. It's good food, overpriced, and not at all authentic.
Delicious food and service.Go early so you dont miss out, at least at 5pm to get the best cuts.
American barbecue restaurant
The brisket, the smoked chicken and the lip are excellent. Taste from Texas
Excellent flavored BBQ. Restaurant smelled great as well and staff were friendly. Recommend sharing a BBQ platter if there are 2 of you, plenty of food. Only downside was limited seating and some of the meats/sides were not as warm as I would have liked.
Smoke food
So Yummy
Delicious BBQ! Best I've had outside of the States.
Full! It doesn't seem like a barbecue party!!! The price is relatively small, but the store atmosphere is not bad and the barbecue taste is not bad. There are many people waiting in line in the store, but the staff were relatively friendly.
Good spot if you are craving for American style bbq meat
The food was absolutely amazing and the people were very nice! I will definitely come back to this place and recommend it to anyone who is in or around seoul. A nice dinning area tucked and hidden away.
It is the historic smoke house Manimal smoke house which leads the fame more and more recently.
Texas-style brisket pulled fork,
Various side menus can be provided with good quality
The burning fumes ;; I don't understand why it's famous. The meat is mixed with the burnt powder.
I know that the recipe is very demanding and the result is good but the meat itself is not a special taste, but it is often a hogbalt. The sauce was special and all was delicious
Six people went to the boat and enjoyed it delicious. American style barbecue house with good meat
Excellent American style barbeque. The platters are pretty insane, definitely something to share (or a great place to overeat!). Everyone on our group ordered something different and there were no complaints. The space is pretty small though so get there early or during the week to have a better shot to sit down quickly
I did not expect to find authentic BBQ house in Korea, and there is no better fitting place than Itaewon. From the BBQ itself to the different sides, it was all amazing.Definitely try the coffee rubbed one if you have the chance. They also have a nice selection of imported beer that are not available in most places. The waitress/waiter can speak fluent English. The food portions are on the smaller side and take a while to arrive, but it is well worth the wait. I will definately be back when I visit soon.
Best quality meats I've eaten in Korea. Beef, pork, chicken seasoned just right.
Small bbq place with good food. Chicken is a must try menu. But i thought it was quite expensive with small portion.
Great place for main meal. It's a bit uncomfortable to go up on the second floor, but it's nice to eat in the fall. Check out what draft beer is and eat it. Sometimes beer is given in bottles or cans. A must-see if you like BBQ.
Brisket and pulled pork are so delicious.
Really best
This place is small, but solid Barbecue place in Itaewon. I would like to recommend to try here if you feel special and want to enjoy some quality barbecues. The price might be bit pricey but it is not that bad for you to give a try.
I have been eating satisfactorily. The price was on the side but it was worth a try. It was better not to be crowded than Linus, Lokos.
This is my favorite place to dine in Seoul. Period. It never disappoints. If you are a meat lover, this is it!!!
It is generally delicious, but it is difficult to eat the desired menu because the meat is salty and the ingredients are consumed soon.
The menu name is English. It is inconvenient because it does not come to mind well what meat area and side menu mean.
Authentic American Steakhouse That I Want Others to Know
Outstanding! Best American style barbeque in Seoul. The sides are superb too and well worth it.
It was pretty good but not amazing, staff were friendly and thier mash and gravy is really good
The taste and style of the buffalo ribs I had in Canada was great. I went before lunch on weekdays, but I didn't have any basic side menu ingredients. The ingredients aren't ready.
The restaurant is small and there is too much space between the tables. There was a lot of chat between the staff and the voices were so big that I could eat .. Friendly but staff training was not good.
The price is high while the food is normal
American fried barbecue shop that is not easy to taste in Korea! I want to eat meat properly, I want to eat on a day when I think I want to eat properly. There are a lot of different kinds of meat in a variety of sauces, and a variety of garnished dishes.
Fantastic restaurant and friendly staff. One of the best doing BBQ in Korea (rip Beale St). Pulled pork sandwiches are legit and their spicy Mac n cheese is one of my favorites in Korea. Definitely give them a try (as well as their new venture - motor city pizza, also in itaewon)
I literally found this place with my nose haha! The initial burger joint we were looking for was closed and it so happened Manimals were smoking some meat. I just followed. Great food, greater service.
I first attended Manimal during their soft open with a few friends, and tried all the available meats and some desserts, and we were really impressed by the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and of course, the unbeatable tasty food! This was over a year ago, and I have been longing to visit again ever since, following them on Instagram and trying to convince new friends to try it out. Finally, last night I got to revisit, although this time with a rather large group of 18 friends. I can say that it is probably not the best place to go with a huge group, but the food is better than ever and they managed to accommodate most of us on four different tables. We really respected their gender neutral bathroom, the work they have done with the best buddies program, and, as always, the meat is the best non Korean BBQ meat in all of Korea! I will be satisfied for days.
Overall, I see professionalism, but I think it will be difficult.
The ambiance, food and service were very good, chicken and brisket were excellent, and although the ribs were really still quite good, they were not quite "fall off the bone" ribs. Overall, I very much so still recommend this place for anyone looking for some American BBQ in Seoul.
Food is excellent, and portions generous. Price is high for BBQ in the context of America, but to find this quality in downtown Seoul, I'll give the price a pass. Three item plate was more than I could possibly eat and I was hungry! Brisket was flavorful and moist (fat/meat ratio slightly high on fat but not bad), coffee-rubbed ribs were slightly dry but otherwise excellent, pulled pork was great, sauce was a touch spicy but tasted great. As for the sides, the green chili mac and cheese stood out. What could be better? A smaller-portion three-item plate for less money. That's about it.
When I went in the day, Beef bricket didn't do it.
I think it's better if the sauce tastes slightly weaker
There's a mop cleaner outside the entrance to the restaurant.
