Great Location, walk from the city, Iloved the spa and the massage I booked for. Staff very nice. Being a five stars hotel it could improve with the breakfast service and a better menu for the dinner which is too much sophisticated but not inviting.

Lovely hotel, all staff extremely helpful and happy, the only downside is that the king bed was sagging on one side and the other side was propped up with a wooden board. The hotel needs to renew their bedding. Apart from that it was a great stay.

Brilliant food; brilliant setting. I may not have stayed in the hotel itself, but my did I enjoy it. The restaurants are the perfect place for a formal or celebratory evening, as the setting and mood is relaxed and the food is sublime.

Great hotel, really nice. Not the best room view though especially after waiting so long to check in, because the computers crashed. Cleanliness really good, great central location and lovely grounds.

Poor experience

Poor experience

I was invited here for afternoon tea to celebrate my niece's 21st birthday. Service was slow, but polite and helpful.

The bread on the sandwiches was verging on stale - they had clearly been sitting around for some considerable time since being made.

The scones and cakes looked good, but tasted very ordinary and unexciting.

The Champagne was very pleasant, although very light in style, more like a Prosecco than Champagne (which was fine for me).

As an invited guest, I did not pay the bill, and did not feel it appropriate to complain at the time, but the overall experience was poor.

Upon entering the room (I believe room 430) with its high ceilings, I was impressed that there seemed to be a coffee stain on the wall coming down from the ceiling. Not quite sure how a stain managed to get up that high. Already sour from More

Hotel was okay but very expensive. Room was nice and bad comfortable. Tap in bathroom made some horrendous noises. We reported this but they apparently have no maintenance staff at the weekend. Long delays at breakfast though. They had a cold buffet but you had to order hot food. It took over 40 minutes to arrive on two of the mornings.
No charging points for electric vehicles, despite charging for parking.
It is quite convenient for the centre though, about a 15 minute walk. But it is uphill on the way back and the lighting along their driveway is quite poor.

The spa pool and swimming pool were nice but steam room and one sauna were out of order for the duration of our stay.

If this had been cheaper would had given it a higher rating but disappointed for the price.

Hotel is lovelly in really nice spot although seriously needs updating and repairs , our room was really nice although the four poster bed was broken before we even got into it. The bathroom needed updating and was really dirty on the walls of the bath/shower including someone's hair extension left in the sink. The spa is really nice but again needs updating and some repairs. The breakfast was really nice and staff were very helpful and polite, we would certainly stay here again.

This place was lovely and the staff were super helpful however it looked rather run down in the corridors leading to your rooms. The outdoor heated pool was fantastic but we were made to leave before our time was up the evening food was outstanding which made me excited for breakfast, which ended in disappointment as it was tasteless, Morrisons breakfast is better than their fry up and cheaper too .
The bedroom was a great size, the bed was to die for and the bathroom was great with their overhead and powerful shower.
I would visit again and I think the price needs to drop slightly, especially when they are having work done to the hotel.
Thank you staff bar the young men who kicked us out and started packing up before our time was over.

The staff are friendly and accommodating however the food is poor quality vs the value and the overall look of the hotel is dated. My experience at the hotel did not meet expectations given the star rating.

Went for a spa day and massage. Treatment was great, and spa facilities decent. Certainly had a relaxing time. No staff on desk when we arrived, seemed surprised to see us when someone eventually came. Strange start. Same thing happened to other groups we saw arriving later. Outdoor pool was nice and hot. Cream tea was good.

Amazing spa and great staff, we spent the day in the spa it was really nice and relaxed and chilled. The pool was lovely and warm. My wife had a facial and full body rub and came back saying how great it was and wanted to go again but was no more slots for the day. We had a 3 course meal that was great we paid extra for the beef which I think is worth every penny it was cooked perfect and pudding hit the spot. The breakfast is also amazing perfect way to wake up and start a day and lots to pick from. We got to are room and it was perfect could not ask for anything more in there and the bath/shower room was perfect. The staff make it tho did not find one unhelpful member all would bend over backwards to help you. It seems very popular with bridle party's and I can see why so close to the city centre and the race course is close and rugby ground. I would give this place 10 stars if I could and would come back again and again, already looking for when we can come back.

Beautiful building in a lovely location, rooms are large and with a good range of amenities. Staff are discreet and helpful. Negatives would be breakfast service is slow, this could be fine if there for leisure but as we were there for a conference it was difficult, also bars, lounges and communal areas were cool to the point of being cold which I felt affected the atmosphere. Spa facilities were excellent.

My wife and I stayed in the Bath Spa for a week-end of absolute luxury. Fantastic room with great views over the city. We also tried a couple of the treatments and again we were both quietly surprised at how relaxing they were. Felt 10 years younger. Definitely a Spa that I'd recommend to all of my friends.

The Good: Location, historic spacious building
The Bad: Hotel needs refurb, there was sand in the outdoor pool after the plaster had come off one of the walls nearby and was eroding into the pool, window frames in the rooms have paint flaking and coming off

A five star setting with two to three star service and amenities. One trainee at check in on a busy Saturday. Food (both preparation and selection) was pub fare at best. Not at all of fitting for higher rated hotel. Many of the staff seemed consistently muddled and confused if not downright rude. New owners or management are desperately needed to bring is hotel up to snuff.

Big villa, SPA included. Fantastic hot water pool, all usual facilities are there. Good restaurant, Nice garden, complete and big gym (by inside the SPA, so you can access only when the SPA is open). the SPA is accessible also by non-guests. good restaurant. Good trained staff. it is a 5 star hotel and you would expect 5 star: the one missing is for few details, but perhaps only missing luck during the visit: it was early January and the room was cold and the central heating was pushing cold air (problem partially solved with an additional oil electrical heater provided quickly by the night staff); no bathrobe an slippers in the room (provided the day after); bathtube drain pipe not properly working (not solved in the 2-night stays, but anyway you can get the shower at the SPA); Only one set of toiletries for a 2 guests room (at least odd, but minor problem again). Anyway, the stay is great, and considering Bath does not necessarily occupy fully your day, you have plenty of time to appreciate the hotel, his gym and particularly his staff. thanks. Ask for the hystorical info on the villa.

Lovely hotel and good spa facilities. The big let down was the food. Send our stake back as it was not cooked as required, the sauces were left on table and have gone cold and the chips were kept warm in the kitchen and brought back to the table with the twice cooked steak. It is not what you would expect from hotel of this standard and on top of it we sent sandwiches back from our afternoon tea as the bread was dry.
Stay in hotel but eat out on town to get better food.

This was our 2nd visit and nothing like the first. Most of the facilities in the spa were not working and the staff in the spa were unapologetic to the point of ignorance.

The staff in the dining room were extremely rude to the point where we left without eating before tempers flared.

Although the reception manager was extremely disappointed and apologetic it was too late and the offer of a bottle of wine was somewhat of an insult.

This as far from a 5* venue as you could get and extremely disappointing as our first visit a couple of years ago was fantastic.

Not recommendable. At 16 o'clock the housekeeping service was not there yet and had to be requested four times. Service works only after three times order. SPA facilities on the cleanliness partly to be desired.

Room was great, great staff and friendly. My big gripe with this place is. That i booked and paid a month in advance for my Wife's 40th. First evening made to wait 5 minutes at entrance of restaurant while they tried to find my reservation.(not a great start) strike 1. Next morning wife booked into SPA, i checked in advance to make sure they had the booking. Again they could not find it even though u gave them.the persons name and all reference numbers. I then escorted my qife to the SPA for her treatment and i was asked to pay, even though this was booked and paid a month in advance. Spoke to reception and they said they would.mention it to the manager. Strike 2. Invoice dropped through our bedroom door at aome ungodly hour, woke the wife. And checking the invoice i find i have been charged again for everything i pre paid over a month ago.strike 3. I can't beleive that this happend. Supposed to be a lovely relaxing weekend for my wife and i and it did not work our this way.

Would go again but would never bother to pre book anything as it does not get booked. Waiting for General Manager to call and see what he has to say.

Very nice rooms and overall a pleasant state. However I had concerns over COVID compliance. Hand gel at key touch points were empty and not refilled during our two day stay despite mentioning to staff. Disappointed and concerning that this did not appear a priority.

For the most part it's a great place that's very relaxing with lots of facilities. They just need to fix a few things as they are a pain. The disabled shower curtain would cost less then 5 quid but a disabled woman has apparently been complaining for months. The lock on family room sometimes doesn't actually lock so anyone can just pull it open mid changing (it's electro magnetic). We love it despite the issues. Would be 5 stars if they were fixed. Staff are amazing and atmosphere is great with people being very social even if you don't know who someone is.

The travel company that set up my UK trip booked me for this luxury hotel upgrade on the heels of a hiking trip. I was game. When I was checking out, though, the clerk said that payment was due. I was sure that the amount I had paid the company included all accommodations on the trip, but all he could do was tell me that the computer indicated that payment was due upon checkout. People were waiting behind me so I went ahead and let my credit card be charged again, figuring I could deal with it later. When I called the travel company, they assured me that the hotel had been paid in advance. They contacted the hotel which apologized, said they'd reimburse me. It took a few days and when they reimbursed me, the amount was sixty dollars less than what I'd paid. Again I contacted the travel company, again they contacted the hotel, again the hotel apologized, said they'd take care of it. Said they were upgrading their computers, they would get to it the next day. This was twelve days ago, I still haven't been reimbursed for the sixty dollars.

For a hotel that charges four hundred dollars a night, you think they'd have their act together.

Lovely hotel, although pretty expensive. A fair walk to bath city centre but would be pleasant on a nice day - yiu also have to pay for parking which is a joke, hence why they lose a star here. Breakfast and the whole place is stunning though and staff were excellent!

Pros: fabulous rooms, very comfy bed, lovely building and garden setting, nice cot for baby, great location to walk into Bath, relaxing and atmospheric, nice decor

Cons: the spa is a bit 'shabby' compared to the Thermae bath spa in town and could do with a refresh (some of the steam rooms were out of service when we stayed), evening food menu could do with modernising (Nourish is a short drive away and offers much better vegan alternatives), the parking lines need to be re-drawn (there was insufficient space for Chelsea tractors which meant people parked over 2 spaces really awkwardly)

Overall: great stay and some minor improvements will make this 5*!

We had a great stay. The staff were very helpful. The covid arrangements were well thought out and we felt well looked after. We used the spa after a superb afternoon tea, but somehow hadn't realised that the robes and slippers were provided in the bedroom.
The gardens look beautiful in the autumn sunshine. We enjoyed the breakfast. If you like walking it's an excellent base for walking around the city.

Very upmarket hotel but there are a few things that let it down. Our arrival was relatively painless, I wasn't completely happy about the parking charge but did know about it up front. The room was comfortable, though later we found uncomfortably hot in the night, which was difficult to adjust. We went straight down to the pool, steam rooms had been opened so we made the most of those. I'd recommend the outside pool over the indoor if your a couple looking for a quiet retreat. We'd booked dinner in the restaurant so headed there next. Unfortunately it was a new chef in the kitchen. When my wife's salmon arrived it was undercooked. The meal was taken away and another prepared. I'd finished mine by this time. The next salmon was also raw inside, we gave up. The restaurant did remove the meal and a drink from the bill. We retired to the drawing room for a drink, which was lovely. Breakfast was good, though on the second morning we got forgotten for 30mins before someone came to take our order for the second time. Again the hotel made it right and took that off the bill. We wondered from the hotel into town a lovely 15 minute walk through a park. Bath is a beautiful city! We came back for some afternoon tea in the drawing room, which was really good. All in all a good visit but as I said it was let down by a couple of simple things.

Beautiful grounds and great venue. Clearly popular for spas. Could better separate spa guests and business guests in main areas. Felt they were a bit too keen to overfill glasses and up their drinks revenue. Apart from that, v good and would use again

We came away for one night to get away from the stresses of life and I must say we were looked after super well by all the wonderful staff who took great care of us and our little chihuhua. The room was absolutely stunning, the setting ideal, and the staff went above and beyond for us. We would definitely recommend and will certainly be back. Thank you for looking after us and putting all the necessary precautions in place post the covid 19 lockdown to make us feel relaxed and safe.
