Great flavors and reasonably priced for an NYC specialty eatery. My one complaint is somewhat ironic: the traditional Mac and Cheese was boring when eaten in the sampler. You MUST eat that one first or it will get lost. As it happened I really don't know how it tastes; the other options just blew it away... Everything else was downright delicious. Even the basic salad was nice and fresh.
Dear S'MAC staff, I love you. I've never loved a food as much as I love S'MAC macaroni and cheese. It goes to the point where I eat S'MAC in my dreams. I was so sad for the longest because I wasn't able to get any S'MAC due to the fact that I live all the way in Brooklyn. When you guys decided to deliver to different boroughs, I almost cried tears of joy. I just received my order and I am so pleased. For anyone who is a macaroni and cheese connoisseur such as myself, I would 11/10 recommended this place (and if you love bacon, I would strongly recommend the alpine)
Sarita's Macaroni & Cheese, or as most of us call it s'mac, is very popular with the college crowd and families. It's also a great place for a date! Casual, affordable, fun, and kitschy.
There are many flavors of mac and cheese offered, with a build your own option as well as substitutions for a gluten free menu. I've tried a bunch and my favorite is the Napoletana because it has a pizza flavor. Alpine runs a close second as it is more refined with gruyere and bacon. Beware of some of the more low brow flavors. Cheeseburger tends to taste like Hamburger Helper and 4 Cheese can be really rich! Nonetheless, you really can't go wrong at s'mac. It's a guilty pleasure.
This place is very unprofessional. I'm here now with my wife it's May 6, 2016 at 3:30pm and the people working here are animals. Cursing left and right saying the N word A LOT!!!! NEED TO FIRE THESE YOUNG KIDS OR CLOSE FOR GOOD. VERY UNEXCEPTABLE!!!!!!

Very small very crowded. Smelled funny and the food was not great. Not sure how it won any awards at all. You could probably make more enjoyable food at home.
New location and so glad they're still around. The food is always amazing and I love the Stewart's brand soda

How can you not like a place that services so many different types of mac & cheese? Great menu options, cozy little restaurant (emphasis on little!) There are very few tables but we've been able to get a seat within minutes every time.
The "Nosh" size was more than enough and very filling. Highly recommend the Mediterranean or Parisienne.
Oh my goodnesss. When i tell you this mac and cheese is off the chain. I wish they had more locations. The pasta is cooked just rigjt and the cheeseeee. I got the buffalo chicken mac and cheese...you can opt out of the blue cheese but it fave it so much flavor

I've been to SMAC a dozen times. Great food. Prices could be better, but fine. Ambiance of the new location is good - more seeting and open windows when the weather is nice. Old one down the street was a little cozier. Good lunch date

They literally serve it to you in a cast iron skillet and there are so many different varieties. Overall it was good-very fresh and the service was good-but I'm not going out of my way to visit again. Also you order at a kiosk instead of speaking to a human, so yay for the introverts and people who are indecisive (like me).
The food was served bubbling hot and is always filled with amazingly cheesy goodness. Staff is very friendly.
Loved creating my own dish. Had a decently priced craft beer while I waited for my order. Friendly service and they have promotions and offers out frequently. I just bought another from groupon. Can't wait to use!
The mac and cheese are pretty good and the best part is that there are gluten-free options. The only downside is that it is far from the tourist areas.

Very interesting service. The idea of \ u200b \ u200bcreating your plate from a screen, without actually considering that you are eating something precarious is really good. The mac'n cheese dish is simple and raw as a taste but it does its job. Average low prices and the possibility to take home food
I love s'mac, some of the best mac and cheese in the city and not too expensive (unless you build your own, which gets crazy expensive for no reason). My favorites are the Napoletana and Cajun. The nosh size may be enough for a meal but not if you have a big appetite, go for the major munch and enjoy some leftovers or stuff yourself. Service is usually friendly enough for a counter service restaurant.
Cozy, good but limited menu centered around Mac and cheese. A bit pricey given the ingredients but the small size is ok in price and to satisfy if you get it with veggies. Don't know if there are restrooms. Have radio playing.
If you like mac and cheese, this is the place. Use a machine to put in order, take a number, and food is delivered. good flavor. Price a little high, but food is filling

I LOVE S'Mac! They have the best mac and cheese you will ever have! I usually get the "nosh" size, which is more than enough for me. They have a lot of different options - you get a pre-set menu item or create your own dish, they also have a vegan and gluten-free option, which my friend said was the best she ever had! My favorite is the cheesseburger mac and cheese!

I doubt you ll find a better selection of mac n cheese anywhere else. The Mediterranean style and the Indian ones were both delicious and unique. I love how it want just overloaded with cheese but actually tasted like a genuine meal. Definitely recommend!

Having tried both the non-vegan and vegan options, I can say that both are good and warrant 4 stars. The regular Mac and cheese is better, but, that is to be expected. The ordering process is kind of unnecessary, the prices are high, and the seating is pretty badly set up, though.
Got three macs to go. They were dumped into pizza boxes and were all cold after a trip of three blocks. Instead of roasted garlic as advertised, they used too much garlic powder making the mac inedible. The buffalo chicken had lots of buffalo but very little chicken and the plain was so plain it was barely edible.
I am allergic to dairy so I got the vegan Mac n cheese. I was so excited to try it today. The vegan base is coconut milk so it was a little too sweet. I added in slab bacon, scallions and breadcrumbs. I recommend that this place uses unsweetened oat milk as the vegan base. Overall I really liked this and if you re dairy free like me, I would give this place a try!
Mac n Cheese options are superb. Tried Mediterranean, Cajun and Masala all were good. Cajun was the best. Place could do better with some polishing.
Service was fast! You'll never be able to go back to regular Mac n cheese after this. I didn't like the broccoli combination on mine. All the other flavors were great!

After placing order and swiping Credit card the machine asked for tips. Had a hard time figuring out how much to tip since i had 0 human interaction so far. Chose 10%.
After 10 minutes the food arrived. No introduction, just a dirty paper with the names of the dishes.
As you can see on the photos the paper, the wooden plate and the safety glove for the pan are extremely dirty and this is probably dangerous and very unhygenic.
I will not recommend this place at all.
If there is some how i can get the 10% tip back i would like to have it back.

I kinda feel like the recipes have changed. Been coming here for years and it's like the mac doesnt have as much flavor as it used to.

Smac is a great place to get a variety of mac and cheese, if you're into that sort of thing. While the flavor isn't quite what it was maybe five years ago, its still a staple and favorite for mac and cheese lovers. It might still be considered a hidden gem, except with the larger space the line doesn't creep out the door as often.
With the addition of touch screen ordering to compliment takeaway by phone, it seems the place is modernizing fast. Now if only they could hit back that old chef from the 2012 to 2014 days.
Who wants to wait an hour (after ordering) for mac n cheese? Or any food for that matter?! The vegan option was delicious, but I'll likely never come here again.
Response to owner's response: Good to know, but would have been 1000 times better to know when I was actually there - like when I went up to the counter and asked what was going on with my order and was told "it will be ready in 5 minutes" (I ended up waiting 25 more minutes)
The staff are friendly and the food is comforting and flavorful. Great options and well-sized portions for a great price.

Food was alright. Service was abysmal. The gentleman at the counter stood there staring at his screen and didn't look up to take our order ubtil I prompted him. Average at best.

I am a huge fan of Mac and cheese and this place did not disappoint! This one had some hearty chunks of bacon, breadcrumbs, and cheese. It was cooked perfectly, the staff was friendly, and I m definitely coming back again!

Great Mac and cheese place, only thing they serve. Self service ordering is great and they serve in iron cast pans on wooden bases. The smallest size (called nosh) is definitely enough, but always nice to go up a size if you are feeling extra hungry.
The mac and cheese I ordered had chicken, garlic, tomatoes, and basil. Added a reduce lactose milk and breaded top crust which was cooked perfectly. I definitely recommend trying it at least once.

I want to note the owners put up a fridge on the corner with free food for those who need it and a place for neighbors to donate food for those who can during these times. Really impressed, thinking mac & cheese once a wk with a matching donation and maybe it tastes better than I thought

I recommend 100%, we were looking for typical Mac and cheese sites in NY the first day we arrived and went to this one that is in the East Village. Depending on how hungry you are, the smaller or medium plate (which is the one we ordered) is better. The classic Americans are with Cheddar that gets a little heavier, better the alpinos that are with Swiss cheese.

does one thing and does it well. great mac and cheese and that's about it. service can widely vary, but the mac is so good it is worth waiting for. don't be fooled by the fancier options, the american and cheddar one is just as good as the fancier options.
Delicious food! The employee was super helpful in helping us decide what to order. We settled on the pork and fried chick arepa with the yucca fries with green sauce. Try the sangria! It's delicious! The pricing was a bit much, but there was definitely more than enough food.

The one that comes closest to a pasta dish. Although the famous Mc & cheese is typical American. Very self service by booking alone, sitting at the table with a number and you get the dish. Not very smart to see the guy who works there eating products taken from other places in the area. Maybe because for our culture it doesn't exist but it made me strange.
