We enjoyed the opera family day event. Children enjoyed all crafts. Face paintings by the professionals who do opera actors makeup are amazing. 20 mins a session for each group demonstration is great. The pieces demoed in the performance are so fun and interesting for the introduction and get the feeling how operas are. It is well though and organized.

Attended Renee Fleming 25th Anniversary concert. Concert itself was amazing but so was the friendliness and helpfulness of the people who work at the Lyric. People who have never been to an opera here sometimes mistakenly imagine an elitist and "stuck up" atmosphere, catering only to the wealthy. As regards the people who work here, nothing could be further from the truth. If you're in the Chicago area, you owe it to yourself to come here.

Overall, we enjoyed our visit. The Lyric is really lovely inside. We saw Jesus Christ Superstar, but my only complaint is that the sound was not good. One actor's microphone didn't work at all!

I went to see Das Rheingold on opening night. This was my first opera. The building is incredibly beautiful. It had a red carpet feeling like you would see at a Hollywood awards show. The Lyric Opera building is similar to a lot of those classic theaters you may have been in but on a grander scale. Only downside for me is my height. Seats in older buildings like this were built for shorter people. I was mildly uncomfortable in my seat being a taller than average person. The show was worth the discomfort though.

First time Lyric Opera of Chicago visit. From the valet parking customer service, to the fabulous Grand Foyer, to the pleasant individuals serving drinks etc, and then to the outstanding costumes and the dynamic acoustics. All the performers were captivating. A pure joy. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous and impressive building. I love that it's situated right near the river because it allows for some great views walking to the venue. I was here for La clemenza di Tito and had an amazing time. The sound quality was great and the seats I had were amazing. I was also there for the costume sale/fund raiser and had a blast trying on all the dresses and intricate outfits.

I went here for their special showing of "Oklahoma!", and the performance was fantastic. The staff were very hepful with directing people, and helping us find the closest bathrooms to where we were seated. I do recommend eating before you go because the snacks they offer are minimal, and the prices are astronomical. Still, you're there for the performance, not for the food (and since you can't leave once you get in, they have a captive audience). What's nice is the offer of merchandise for the show too, even if those are pricier than you can probably find online, but if you want merch right away, it's conventiently located.

It is hard to know what the bigger spectacle is at the Lyric - the many fine productions on the stage or the building itself. The auditorium is vast and exquisite in the detailed Egyptian style art work.

I ve seen several productions here and the standard of music and stage craft is always high. There is a spot down centre you can always see the singers creep towards for the big not and when it comes it sounds great in this auditorium.

One of the reasons that Chicago is the best place to live. While I was very happy to go to the opera in Portland, Oregon, Chicago is such a whole different world. Definitely addictive.

Saw the Sound of Music here last year, and it was a wonderful experience all around. Spacious enough for all of the people, great acoustics, and the building is a piece of art on it's own.

As we came in the staff was very helpful to let us know where our seats were. The refreshments were also there to enjoy and I got Makers Mark whiskey and wine. Also chocolates and cups. The seats were on the 4th floor on this visit and I think the 3rd floor is probably the best seat for me since I get to watch from above and its not too far. The seats are vintage as well as the theater but it is a very nice place. Will keep coming back.
