The Lyceum could be more comfortable but it has all the nice features you expect from a traditional theatre - 3 stars.

I like my leg room and its at a premium in the Lyceum. If you get a box you will be in your element but in the stalls things are more of a squeeze.

Turn up early if you are looking for parking, disabled spaces are hard to find but there are lots of streets nearby where you should find a space.

The younger crowd might prefer the Traverse or the Festival theatres but you can't choose where the good plays are shown. The Lyceum isn't the best place to watch a show in Edinburgh but it won't ruin your experience by any means.

The LyceumTheatre production of The Arabian Nights...

The LyceumTheatre production of The Arabian Nights was so entertaining! It was lively, fast moving, good fun, brilliant costumes! The two dog puppets had great, convincing personalities - I LOVED the dog 'SMELLY'. The set design was so clever, it was so simple and effective, setting scene after scene perfectly. The most enjoyable was the clear diction of all the singing and speaking. A big THANK YOU to all the cast for their clear delivery. I left a comment when I handed back the audio help saying that I didn't need it as the cast's diction was so clear. An extra 20 for being so clear and easy to follow. Siobhan

Good theatre with traditional interior and in a great location. I saw a play here recently called The Union, the first half was good the second not so much. The seating leaves you feeling tired so I wonder if other productions leave audiences feeling so tired. There's not enough leg room and the bar area feels a little small.

A seriously beautiful theatre, with an excellent and diverse range of productions during the entire season!
Struggling to deal with the crowds at the main entrance and have tickets for the Grand Circle? There is a bar and seating area available just behind your seat.
And if you catch a matinee and the sun shining be prepared for a relaxing seat in the reflected sunlight from the tenement opposite.
PS once inside don't forget to look-up!

Have a wonderful Experience! I certainly did.

Great night out at Lyceum. Seats comfy and wide. Stunning ceilings give a grand traditional theatre experience. All the staff were knowledgeable about the show and very helpful with guiding us to our seats. I really like the array of shows they offer throughout the year.

It's a beautiful theatre, no doubt.

It's a beautiful theatre, no doubt.

The productions tend to be on the side of brilliant and the theatre's regulars do seem to appreciate good storytelling.

There are many eating and drinking establishments around, so choice shouldn't be an issue.

For wheelchair users there is a lift that takes you down to the bar area and a seperate lift to the stalls. In addition, there are a couple of easy access bathrooms.

During the festival at night Lothian Road is shut to buses as there is an open air event at the Usher Hall. Pedestrians are routed down and up steps across the road, be aware if eyesight in dim light or mobility is not good as it's very busy

One of my most favourite theatre's in Edinburgh, it's beautiful and intimate, a wonderful place to see live performance. They have a good programme of interesting productions to choose from. The bar can get busy so you might end up perching before the show and during the interval. Their 'secret seats' deals are a brilliant way to get cut price seats to their shows.

Went to see A Christmas Carol here and it was brilliant. The theatre itself was lovely, clean, bright. Staff were friendly and engaging and it meant the whole experience for our family was an enjoyable experience.

Local Hero the musical. Excellent show. Building over 100 years old, we were in the gods, good view of stage but couldn't see all of the backdrop. Long climb up the stairs, not sure there was a lift. Leg room poor as with all these old theatres. Toilets very clean, again restricted for space. Acoustics very good.
