Offers bad beds and a revolting breakfast in a remote location. Do not cheap out on your accomodation in Dublin or there will be a good chance that you will end up in this shack. "Sojourned" in February

Looks a bit old and run down from outside but nice and clean inside, although a little bit dated.
The room was clean and exactly what you'd expect. The bathroom was modern with a shower cubicle.
The staff were friendly and helpful always said 'Hi' when you walked past. They were more than happy to help with everything including booking taxis.
The bar was ok and served a selection of beers, ales and ciders.
I had the full Irish breakfast in the morning, which was very nice. There was fruit juices, yoghurt and pastries available as well.
I only stayed for 1 night but would stay again. During the day a taxi cost about 15 to get to the centre of Dublin and about 40 to get to the airport. There is a bus stop directly outside which goes into the centre but I didn't use it so can't say how frequent they arrive.

Sometimes go in here at about 5 o clock when its not too busy. Love the view from the large windows facing the Liffey Valley. Nice relaxed atmosphere for a family Sunday dinner . Lots of snug areas and different seating styles to choose from . Big screens forvthe footie fans but plenty of quieter areas for us non sporty types.
Bar food and restaurant fare depending on choice all at very good prices leaving loads of leeway to tip the normally friendly staff.
Thats probably Ive been going to the West County for as long as I can remember.

There's a mile-wide chasm between Vintage and Dated.

The West County Hotel is what I would call vintage. Sure, the decor is somewhat from yesteryear, but the fixtures and fittings are in excellent condition. the hotel is also scrupulously clean, and beds are comfortable. Prices are more than fair for Dublin, and the staff are unfailingly friendly.

I did like this place a lot, and I suspect I'll be staying here next time I'm in Dublin.

I'm so disappointed in the West County Hotel by their Service for the afters of my nephews funeral on Monday afternoon. As upsetting the day was we were greeted by Noreen on Reception who, in my opinion, has no business being in Customer Service as she had a face on her like a wet weekend. We had pre organised sandwiches and tea for 50 people at a certain amount per head. On settleing the bill it was a good 200 more than what was agreed. When this was queried Noreen said she put on more sandwiches which wasn't requested by the family. She just took it upon herself to do so. When other members of the funeral party ordered hot food later on, I overheard Noreen giving two young lounge girls a dressing down for not taking payment for this food immediately. Did Noreen think we were going to rob you blind? She was unprofessional, rude and most unhelpful. If there was an option to leave no stars I would.

Dated, far from town, but the free breakfast and cleanliness is nice. Walked down to the for a drink on a Saturday night expecting traditional music and instead experienced a hokey seventies throwback display.

Fillet steak was fatty, (poor quality meat) garlic mushrooms very greasey,
Taking advantage of covid 19 charging 3 for table service.

Rooms were OK, room door was damaged, curtains didn't close properly, beds were comfortable,

Carpet very dated on the stairs and hallways.

Outside of the building looks run down. Needs to be painted! "West Country Hotel" sign doesn't light up properly.

Good local.

Pleasant. Good value for money.

Pleasant. Good value for money.
The room overall is fine.
Very friendly and pleasant bar even if it lacks expertise and a choice of Irish Whiskey.
However, problems with showers and hot water.

-DECEPTIVE PRACTICES / hidden fees

-DECEPTIVE PRACTICES / hidden fees

-clean rooms

-good WiFi

-nice bathroom and shower

-loud music late at night during the weekend

Normally I cover the features within a hotel and then give my overall review. However, this is going to be diferent due to the:

Deceptive practices - This hotel is registeree online as a budget hotel which offers great value for money, for those on a budget. However, right off the bat, I was promoted to pay 30 per day anytime I was to have anyone else other than me enter my room. This was an outrageous demand and a true definition of daylight robbery as it marred any positive features this hotel may have to offer. This was really shocking because nothing was mentioned about these hidden fees I was slapped with when I was booking the hotel.

I say this because for the price I ended up paying for the hotel and for having anyone enter my room, I could have gotten a much better hotel that was off a higher quality and that doesn't employ unethical practices in order to scam money out of people.

I would highly recommend you find another hotel and if its a cheap one, make sure to call in and check if you're allowed to bring people into your room - lest you fall victim to this scam like I did.

EDIT: The hotel owner is now attempting to slander my review by lying and claiming that I tried to use the room for two people instead of 1. Let me make this clear for anyone thinking about booking a room here, YOU CAN'T EVEN have a friend escort your bags upstairs without incurring a charge for an "extra person" in this "hotel". NOT ONCE did I ever have another person sleep in the same room overnight with me during my 3 days there where I was forced to pay an extra 90 just so my friend can hangout with me for a few hours before going back home. This is the only hotel I've ever seen charge anyone for such an instance.

Having said that, I still ended up paying the hotel an extra 90 for a single room which I never shared because I didn't intend to in the first place.

I would HONESTLY urge anyone looking to book this hotel to AVOID IT if you can, I've honestly never seen or experienced such shady and dishonest practices and I wasn't even going to go into the details until the owner started trying to lie in order to save face for their dishonesty.
