Of course it is never pleasant to be in a hospital, because if you have to be there yourself or if you come for someone else, it is always a bummer.

It is of course also possible that you work at the LUMC or come as a student and then it is a completely different story, I can imagine that it is a beautiful hospital where a lot can be learned and you encounter small miracles.

But if we do have to be there, it is nice that the basic commercial facilities are available.

There is a very good and pleasant hair salon (Kapsalon Centraal), which is nice if you have to stay a little longer at the LUMC and you want to relax and go out with a new haircut.

For a book or the latest news you go to the AKO Bookstore and for a nice breath to the Body Shop.

We get the flower or balloon for the patient from Bloemenshop Megaflower.

The coffee shop and restaurant are managed by the LUMC itself, and are basically fine. In the corridors you can hear people complaining about the minimal choice of dishes in the evening in the restaurant, and that it tastes rather monotonous whatever dish you order.

Conclusion: it is not a shopping center, but all in all fine there on the Leidscheplein in the LUMC.

University Clinic from the top shelf, professional service, friendly atmosphere, treat people here in most cases humanly, I was admitted with a child without insurance (so misleadingly thought about the hospital service) and did not ask to pay the bill. A clean, well-kept hospital with a fairly high standard of accommodation and buckling, a large parking space at the hospital, payable. The parking lot and the building allow people with disabilities to move around. The hospital has a restaurant and shops. Everywhere you will get elevators or escalators. The hospital also has a special place where you can leave your child.

A very big hospital, caring and knowledgeable people have saved the lives of many people here. The can be long wait times in the emergency care but that isnt surprising considering how understaffed hospitals are nowadays.

Everything looks clean, modern and neatly decorated.
The in-room food is fair to moderate.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
The restaurant is reasonable but few sweets are available.
Fresh flowers, magazines and body care items galore.
The location of the hospital is ideal, right next to Leiden Central Station.
Adequate public transport nearby.

Theorically, you can sign on at LUMC from 8 to 17h from Monday to Friday. Fortunately, you also can sign on Monday from 17.30 to 21.15. But, the thing is that, for instance, today, Monday, the man or the woman who has to be on this desk doing his or her job, from 17.30 to 21.15, has gone. So, thank you so much to this man or woman to tease me with your absence in your work. Due to you miss your responsibility with your work, I could not register. It was very important. I hope that your absence from your work is for a great reason. Yeah, you, the man or the woman of the 3rd floor, from the front desk of the gynecology dpt, where were you?

Due to shaky health in combination with "wandering" spirit, I have already arrived in many hospitals in various countries. So this time L.U.M.C. From the first to the last person, efficient, friendly, thoughtful and even much more than that (someone held my hand free indefinitely) thanks!

Limited availability by phone, when I then call to ask something about my father who is in the LUMC, I get an acician answer and an arrogant response and hang up. When I then call again and they hear that it is me, they hang up without mercy. Arrogant and conniving person in that hospital, no more recordings there, and a complaint in their pocket.

Good hospital, very nice staff in the children's department. They ensure that everyone has as positive an experience as possible with the operation. The hospital is easy to reach and is within walking distance from the central station. Sufficient information is provided for the procedure and are always open to all questions.

Even after the operation they are ready for you! Had a very nice experience!

Cardiology department and doctors are difficult to reach. When a patient is concerned about his situation or health, this is not listened to. Very little information is provided. Every time it is said that you will be called back, but that is not the case. They mainly want to have contact through their encrypted mail application, which is very cumbersome and is absolutely not customer-friendly. For the older generation, it is hardly understandable if at all. Didn't hospitals want people with cardiovascular disease to avoid hospitals? But if you want to talk about your situation and have information, that is made super difficult. This cannot be of benefit to the condition and health of the patient.

Today an appointment for an operation and will be ...

Today an appointment for an operation and will be called to the LUMC on the way. The doctor in training indicated that there are too many colleagues "LEKKER" on vacation and that the operation / admission could not take place! Indicated that I had to call myself yesterday to confirm the appointment and that I found it strange that this was not known yesterday. "I" MUST "just" interfere, since I have "NO" "REASON" of the planning. I also indicated to have very much pain, I had to go to the doctor, that was "NOT" his problem. He also had no message that I was ill reported to my employer and that it will all take longer now. He had no message to the fact that my mother took a day off from work. This doctor brought everything so arrogant and unprofessional that I have serious doubts about his skills. If a doctor in training can not make a decent / professional phone call, how can he be competent in carrying out his other duties? This seems to me a very worrying situation for a hospital.

The fact remains that if one lets the appointment itself as a patient, then costs are charged. On the other hand, should it also be the case that if the doctor fails to comply with the agreement by not being available at the agreed time, he will let the patient know in time (same term?). After all, the same applies to the patient as to the doctor. He has reserved time for the doctor.

Let's hope that I am called today by a knowledgeable and friendly person to make a new appointment. It is already quite exciting to be operated on and if you are called at the last minute, then that is ACID! Although I am worried now!

Short story; Big but nice looking hospital. Very friendly and caring employees. Would choose to be operated here again.

Long story: I have kidney issues, had 3 operations in this hospital under complete anesthesia (. My first operation was scary as hell but overal they made the not so good experience, apart from the pain etc ofcouse, as pleasant as possible. They were very caring and helpfull towards me.
Second operation actually felt very confidend already that everything would turn out fine.
Third operations same as above, went into the operation with a good feeling that everything would turn out just fine.

The choice for what you wanted to eat could be made of a wide selection of items.
They started a good research
All 3 operations were indeed a success,

Good guidance, good support, correct answers to your questions,
upon arrival there is coffee, and tea in a homely atmosphere.
We then have to come from far away from Drenthe, and sometimes due to circumstances being late it is not difficult to do so.

A university hospital where people are lying and where cleaning is very poor in the departments. And if you say something then they come with a lot of tame they clean very well and then the days that come, no one comes, think that this should be viewed nationally. Then we are talking about costs in health care, just look at what all commissioners and other figures receive monthly ...... and a cleaning lady who is also important the lowest minimum.

So big and yet a shorter waiting time than at the local Bravis hospital. There they just let you walk until you hit the table with your fist. We were able to visit the LUMC within a few weeks. But how great that is.

My mother was here for a bypass operation. Very nice and good hospital friendly staff and also enough parking places also stop several buses in front of the door so certainly easily accessible there is also a reception and registration desk to be found on arrival There is also a restaurant and a coffee corner where nowadays a good caterer is in There is also a hairdresser and a flower shop and a shop where you can buy all sorts of gifts, but also small things for when you are included a newspaper, magazines or drugstore articles. Also, at the entrance of this hospital, large revolving doors have been taken into account. in the middle a large door that you can go through if you are sitting in a wheelchair or behind a walker like my mother, I have been coming here for quite a few years and I am very satisfied with this hospital, even if an appointment cannot go ahead you will get a call of the schedule that it does not go ahead and I also always receive a text message a few days before my appointment which I always really like.

It would be wise for the hospital to have a Google maps map made of the map inside the building. Because it is a huge maze and you get lost there if you are not familiar there. Every time new visitors came to visit my mother it was drama again.

Almost only good experiences here. Only minus point was that I had to take a break from the staff, but at the same time someone came in every 5 minutes with questions or things that had to happen. Some of which were not even aware of what was going on. But apart from that, everything was completely fine and I / we were helped extremely well. I would choose this hospital again without hesitation.

Terrible hospital, been here for my grandpa a few times. Never go here yourself. Islets politics is the norm here for 3 appointments to receive 12 letters. Agreements are not honored, have never been called back when promised, etc. Etc. Reorganization is badly needed in this FACTORY. Can go on for a while. But think that says enough about this place.

Fine, big hospital. Helped smoothly. Friendly people at the entrance, information desk and registration desk. Pleasant doctor who really takes the time. That way you do not feel like a number, as is unfortunately the case with many healthcare institutions. The outside looks a bit older, but inside they do their best to make something beautiful out of it.

Reachable by phone. Operators are very unfriendly on the phone. Will be transferred 3 times to the department that is not available (even when I indicated that "we'll try it anyway"). Then of course disconnected. So again call general, line broken again by LUMC. I'm only calling for a time of recording and am literally half an hour further and haven't spoken to anyone. Frustrating! TIP: ask for patient support! At least they help you well :)

So far contact at the scientific level, i.e. that I too have been allowed to play a role in studies (double blind-self-evident) in the field of liver diseases.
I am very pleased with that, especially because I listened carefully to my feedback and the requested input on my part and I was properly informed .. !!!!

A salient detail was the fact that my former MD doctor in Doetinchem (Slingeland hospital) even in his own rather rude peasant way
this human contact with the renowned specialists in Leiden was highly condemned and even resentful to every question that I dared to ask HIM.
I, a liver patient, a lesser form of life - probably a nasty ex-junk in the face of his personal WHITE GOD.
That the mind-set of the doctors there, in Doetinchem, was really like that, later came to light
when a completely unnecessary surgical operation took place, which, as a former doctor called it, was simply a murder attempt.
Soit ...

Conclusion:
LUMC, highly recommendable.

But what truly sets LUMC apart is its commitment to collaboration and knowledge-sharing. The center works closely with other academic institutions both within the Netherlands and abroad to advance medical knowledge on a global scale. Additionally, it actively engages with patients and their families through initiatives such as patient advisory councils that help ensure that patient needs remain at the forefront of all decision-making processes.

Overall, if you're looking for an institution that combines cutting-edge science with compassionate care in order to revolutionize healthcare as we know it today - look no further than Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum (LUMC).
