I used to live in the marina, but was re-located to Austin. My job has me traveling to LA and The Los Angeles Athletic is on our "approved" list of places to stay. I love this hotel! So centrally located in the financial district. The lobby is beautiful, the staff are extremely friendly & accommodating, & the rooms are so relaxing. There is some street noise, but ask for an interior room. I needed a sweet treat & ordered room service - it came super fast and was delicious . Looking forward to my next trip!

I went to one of The Wine Cellar rooms there it was really nice and cozy 2 have a meal or some appetizers with some friends. It's a good place to have a small gathering of about 10 to 15 people for business or pleasure. Good thing about this place is that you have the club going to have events parking is adjacent to the building and so you don't have to get wet in the rain when you go from the parking lot to the building.

I went to a conference hosted by Microsoft. The rooms and chairs were really nice. The air conditioning was on point. The restrooms were super clean. The decor was pleasing to look. Overall, this was great event.

Very good atmosphere and retro decor, the floors of the building dedicated to sports activities (a large swimming pool, gym, aerobics, squash). Towels are changed every day. The large amount of fruit cut at the breakfast buffet.
But the inaccurate cleaning, the shower curtain was old and stained, the bathroom was dated, the shower taps were complicated to operate and impractical. Breakfast did not offer many sweet alternatives, and there was no bread. Very bad quality / price ratio.

Note: I didn't actually use the gym at all here. I attended a small banquet for Elementary School creative writing. But this place is bougie as it comes, and I mean that in a good way. If you can afford this place, you're either delusional or doing something right in your life...so kudos to you. The parking probably never runs out and is only either $2 or $3 for members which isn't bad for downtown LA. The facilities have this beautiful old school feel, which looks incredibly luxurious. It's straight out of a 1930's flapper convention, I felt classy by association. That's all I can really talk about it, but what I saw I was really impressed.

Nice club, expensive food. Very old school feel with great architecture. Felt like I was in one of the grand old buildings back at the East Coast with the wood paneling and detailed architectural features.

This hotel is amazing! So much character as well as activities. I ended up spending most of my short weekend in LA at the hotel. The pool/gym is great, offering classes like Zumba and kick boxing. On Friday night the secret bar on the 4th floor was a perfect place to relax from the craziness outside. I ll definitely book this place again on my next visit!

As an Athletic Club member, I can only say that this is
the finest of the fine. It is elegant without being stuffy
and has a staff that are generally more than just
friendly-though on occasion the front door staff does
seem a bit 'taken aback' by my garb. I suppose it's
the proximity to the street life which make LA so
'interesting.' And unlike Memphis, for example, I HAVE
NEVER had a moment of fear or trepidation about
traversing the streets of downtown LA and heading
to the Club for a workout, social event or fabulous
food. A is for ATHLETIC CLUB!

I can only talk about the conference room and bar when I attended an event here. It is definitely the fancier of the gyms with its multiple conference/ball rooms, actual hotel rooms, and fully stocked bar. Parking can be tough/expensive in this area but that's anywhere in downtown. I loved the interior of the ballroom with its wooden panels everywhere. It felt like old school class.

The LAAC was where my bride and I first met, and it was the most iconic location for our wedding. We worked with the Director of Catering, Roxy, and she put together the most beautiful event.

Early: Roxy will give you an all star team for the wedding. Just trust that she is giving you the best of the best. Roxy has a lot of knowledge about hosting weddings at the venue. Just talk to her about your dreams, and have some trust with her suggestions because she had some things that she protected us from that we would have never thought of.

3 Weeks Before: Final details get ironed out during a 2-4 hour meeting where you confirm final layouts, number of people, meals, etc. Everything that you can think of gets covered here. This front loads the effort and makes sure that the final days leading up to the wedding are less stressful. She sorts out a 90% final timeline and confirms all vendor arrivals so that she can work with the day of planner to make sure there is nothing that you need to think about on your wedding day.

Day of: Roxy is working with the wedding planner/coordinator to make sure that everything goes without fault. She was on top of it tasting food, making sure that the vendors could unload, ensuring her staff is quick and invisible to deliver the most amazing day of our entire lives!

Food: We received tons of compliments on the food. It is a fully custom menu, and you work with Roxy on all the ingredients and the recipes. We did a southern menu, and we did multiple tastings to make sure that we nailed everything. The chef met with us, and he made sure that he exceeded all expectations. He went 100% out of the box for a cheesy shrimp and grits recipe that he had never made before, and he crushed it! Well done! Only small note would be for the jalapeno poppers that they make them a little less spicy haha!

Venue for photos: One of the most diverse buildings in Los Angeles. This provides the best venue for photos. Just check out ours...

This last Thanksgiving, I booked 7 of the 8 suites for my family. The rooms are beautiful, quiet and spacious. It was so nice to grab a drink with the family in the bar or meet one of them in the Yoga class in the morning while 2 others swam in the pool and the rest went to Botegga Louis for breakfast. The advantage of this hotel is that it comes with a true athletic club attached! A huge indoor pool, a basketball court, a roof for sunning or just viewing the city, a staff of remarkable trainers and a rich Hollywood history. The classes you can take are state of the art with instructors that are informed on the subject they are teaching. Most are included in the hotel stay. My personal favorite is the Hip Hop class. The hotel is located in the middle of the "new" DTLA. The area has fantastic restaurants, you can walk to anytime of the day or night. If you aren't familiar with the exciting restaurant scene that surrounds the club, ask the concierges at the front desk. They took the best care of my family while I prepared and cooked the Thanksgiving dinner.

My family tagged this as one of the "Best Thanksgivings Ever". They range in age from 82 to 16 and everyone of them (12 in all) loved their stay at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

I'm so impressed with this hotel! The staff is one of the biggest assets they have. The rooms are large and nicely designed, roomy desk and clean and large bathroom with large counter space. The dining room is excellent, with a variety of different themes for dinner. Overall, it's a nice experience staying at this hotel.

superb hotel! We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed every moment of it.
we stayed in the room alot since the room was so nice. We enjoyed a morning swim and a sweat in the gym and a great breakfast after. Certainly recommend it. Will go there again every time I visit LA.
use the parking next to the hotel and not the one across the street.

My review for a 3 night stay if I could give this ...

My review for a 3 night stay if I could give this place 0 stars I would, never staying here again.
Opon going to bed at night , finding a power outlet was hard to charge my phone, had to move the nightstand which is heavy by the way, noticed there was a plastic food container figured the cleaning personel had missed it , I thought nothing until, my roomkey fell between my bedside and nightstand , I found a food container with meat & bones , it looked old like it had been there for days, I was amazed how someone would have missed this and was disgusted wondering if the sheets where even cleaned also the restroom smelled awful , I can describe the smell as body odor ,sweat (Hotel Manager Later Explained this is the smell of the Cleaner they use and regretfully that is the smell it gives off , in her own words.) Note :Restroom is very run down even toilet seat.
I spoke to the front desk about what I found in the room they seemed ,very grossed out themselves and they were nice even offered some free bathrobes which I did not accept. I never asked for anything and all I wanted was my room to be cleaned and sheets changed. Since I felt I had been given a room that was not properly cleaned.
I was advised the room would be cleaned and later in the evening upon entering the hotel,
( Gretchen) the hotel Manager greeted me at the front and told me how sorry and embarassed she was and many sorrys I told her thank you and I just wanted it it cleaned.
While going to sleep , I again notcied all the food contaniers still in the same place I had found them and the bones still there , I could not believe it , for 2 days this has been in my room I was very amazed. In the morning Gretchen came with her Cleaning staff and they looked at the dirty things still in the room, by this time around , Gretchen the Manager just left the room and never heard from her again , no apologies whatsover on why it had not been cleaned up , I mean i did tell them exactly what I had found even showed them pictures.
I found out upon checking out that Gretchen had just left that day for her vacations no wonder , I never heard from her again. While they did comp the first night for the troubles , I just dont understand why the room was dirty for 2 nights in a row since we checked in. Will never return to this property in dtla.
This hotel is very rundown and needs alot of workdone, womens lockers look like from the 80s
I think they are remodeling, also the staff is not very well trained, we had asked if the hotel had any shows or events and were told no ,come to find out at check out , they had a Jazz night that we could have easily went to as we were still in the hotel that day. This info was told to us by a front desk young man he was very well trained only staff memeber who knew what he was doing shame they put him on the midnight shift.

Great stay at a historic hotel with great decor and amenities at a good price. What could be better? Rooms were adequate, bed was comfortable, complimentary breakfast was top notch. Wish I could have visited the gym and the pool which both looked awesome. Would definitely book again.
