I had high hopes, walking into Little Shop of Magi...

I had high hopes, walking into Little Shop of Magic. The space, compared to other local shops across town such as Battlezone Comics, was massive. They have, in plain and easy view, tables for Magic and tables with full terrain for Warhammer/Warmachine. The walls to the back left (from walking in) are painted with miniatures and miniature interest items, while the back walls are dedicated to board games (for those of you unfamiliar with the genre, think less Monopoly, and more Settlers of Catan/Cargo Noir/Smallworld/King of Tokyo/etc).

I'm not a Magic player, so I can't speak with any proficiency on the stock in this area.

The miniatures section is stocked well enough, though the items are more for starter armies. If you're looking for a specific named 'jack for your Cygnar army, there's a good chance it's not there. I've been disappointed with this several times over. Battlezone has a physically larger selection, though frequently their stock is only one deep. Little Shop of Magic has the numbers, but lacks the spectrum.

The board games section was very well embellished, and I've picked up quite a few. The general staff, from what I've found, are actually rather knowledgeable about the products. I can say games I like, and they'll offer a recommendation. Please note: this is specifically the general staff. More on this. Lastly, the main disappointing thing about their board games section is that they never seem to have originals. Expansions, alternate versions (think: Zombie Fluxx), but not a lot of the base versions of games, which can be really frustrating. They always offer to order whatever you'd like, but that's never been a hassle I bother looking into.

In regards to above statement about staff...I do not blame the underlings for any customer service-related issues you read on here. They do the best they can under John's iron fist. John is the owner/operator of the establishment, and I avoid going to the shop unless it's an item I'm nearly positive they'll have, for fear of existing in the same space as him. He is outwardly brief, even when you've got green money in your hand. He's tyrannical to his staff and seems to regard his players (read: customer base) with an air of disillusioned self-posturing.

One personal experience, I was in the midst of checking out. I was being actively helped by the young lady behind the counter, literally mid-sentence of an order over $150 in board games, thanks to the great recommendations of the staff. The dollar amount shouldn't matter, but just to emphasize, that's a decent purchase if you ask me. But really, in the grand scheme of things, I could have been buying a candy bar. The principle remains the same. Mid-sentence with the employee, John oozes out of his office, and REMOVES HER. My debit card is on the counter. My transaction half-rung on the screen. He negates any form of "excuse me" or "I'm sorry sir, this will just take a moment". He gives me little as eye contact, and addresses her as "Hey. Come here." She is visibly torn, and says "Um, now?" and he flippantly offers back "Yes. NOW. Just come here."

He pulls her to the side for literally four seconds of what appeared to be nothing at all. I didn't get the sense of "We need to talk, your register was $20 short.", I got the sense of "Don't forget to straighten the dice before you go." Seriously, nothing urgent here. But my patronage, my business, and my level of service were nothing to sacrifice for his machete-swinging style of management.

TL;DR
Shop's great. Don't give John your money.

The only downside was being fooled by the tricky entrance. It's upstairs.

Impressively massive place with an apparently great selection. The owner himself helped me and answered my neophyte questions while his adorable dog guarded us from the nefarious mailman.

Folks, please support local businesses, especially ones that make an effort.

The place was well-stocked however, there were almost no prices visible on any of the items. You have to ask the associates for pricing with just about every item you are interested in. This made shopping inconvenient so, I chose to purchase elsewhere.

They cater to the customer!

Professional and friendly service.

Clean and sanitized environment.

Very trustable seller, I go nowhere else for my cards. I would like to keep it a Secret and not tell anyone and it would be more for me, but I would really like to help this mom and pop shop get more customers and support.

This place is my favorite game store in Vegas. Great staff. Great atmosphere, great patrons. Just good all around. It also shares a shopping center with one of my favorite sushi joints and and a Jack in The Box. The private rooms are perfect for game nights or D&D. Seriously. I cannot recommend them enough. I love this place.

FLGS (friendly local game store) with a surprising variety of stock: everything from board games to miniatures tabletop games. Of course has the popular stuff but also some fun lesser known games as well. Magic, pokemon, fantasy flight games (x-wing, armada, etc), dust 1947, flames of war, bones reaper paintable minis. Decent number of tables to play at, local play groups often reserve a couple for regular play times of different games. I like that they sell packaged snacks and bottled/canned drinks so you don't have to leave if you get snacky or need something to drink. Nice store.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of board games, miniatures and other tabletop accessories, but their Magic:The Gathering tournaments and singles selection are not the greatest.

If you're a gamer, this is a great shop to find what you want in all sorts of categories, be it products or board game and table top RPG sessions, but if M:TG is your thing, I recommend you try another shop in town first.

Their community of players are standoffish, but they have a decent stock of MTG cards and RPG supplies. I would suggest newbies outside of this gaming circle to check out their merchandise, but not try to join the community. I sat there for 4 hours and people were pretty rude.

I've been at this shop a few times and was a little put off by the atmosphere in the shop, but as the young lady working behind the counter was friendly and knowledgable I pushed my misgivings aside. However, each time I came to this establishment after my first visit I was further disappointed by the brusqueness of the rest of the staff members and by the ease with which my Magic the Gathering business was pushed aside in favor of gamers with more expensive interests such as Warhammer. The final straw was when I went in for a recent trade of my Magic the Gathering cards, including Detention Spheres, Vraska the Unseen, and Jace, Architect of Thought. As the transaction was completed, I was not informed of the drastic change in value for my cards and what was originally posted on their buy list. When I called the shop with regards to the discrepancy, I was rather rudely informed that I should pay attention to the daily pricing values of my cards as they constantly change the pricing of their buy list. When I pointed out that this should have been pointed out on the purchase order I was informed that I should reference their website. Overall, EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! This shop is not friendly to Magic or cardgamers in general. I would definitely not recommend it.

I recently purchased a Squishable Plague Doctor (super cute) from their online store and was exceedingly pleased with their customer service. The site was easy to navigate, informative and not extra in any way. I absolutely plan to shop there again.

They bot only jipped me out of promo cards they were advertising came with boxes. They also give out already used promo codes...

This place used to be awesome. It seems now that they are an Official Wizards of the Coast dealer they have seemed to moved in a more corporate direction. It's like walmart, the customers are more friendly than the people working, and nobody really wants to help.

To be fair. They do have one of the largest selections in town, again, like Walmart. They also have a large seating area for the friendly customers to hang out at.

If you want an Old School CCG shop, this is not it. <3

My favorite place to buy all our boardgames. Very large selection of games in stock. Prices are a bit higher than online which is to be expected. I prefer LSoM though for the "instant gratification" and open an account (free) and earn ~10% back towards future purchases from them.

A large open space for gamers to gather. The shop is clean and well stocked with a fair assortment of titles. It would be nice so see more indie representation, but their main focus seems to be CCG, and miniatures gaming. With, of course, a big slice dedicated to Magic the gathering.

Overall it's a great space.

Hello poorly run store,

Hello poorly run store,

You should be sorry to be such a disappointment and the only confusion appears to be between store ownership and it's employees.

My records indicate that after I finished with your PPTQ, I in fact, wanted to spend more time in your store and participate in another event, the Magic Open House, that was concurrently running alongside the event I just finished participating in. When I asked "What can I do to get a promo" the staff responded with "ONLY brand new players get the promo" and basically laughed at me when I wanted to play games or whatever I had to do to earn the promo. I would have been happy to teach new players and in fact did assist with some rules questions that the people playing casually had.

If you would like to not be a horribly run store I encourage you to actually give out the promotional cards for the events that people attend at your store. Or at least educate/inform your staff of how you intend to distribute promotional cards because the treatment I received was abysmal.

Loads of products, I'm in love with the unique artist paints...a bit on the expensive side though (4/5 for price). Wonderful staff and clean shop.
Update: I enjoyed game night, however there were some things I didn't enjoy: the game room was cramped (people were gassy ;_; yuk), bathrooms required a key (so gross), bathroom soap ran out, and bathroom paper towels ran out, and unlike Natural Twenty Games there's no free drinks or snack. LSoM seems like a good beginner place and Nat20 seems like a good advanced place (for DnD).

Super rude employees. There kiosk wasn't working to look up signals. I informed an employee. Employee couldn't get the kiosk to work, but he was able to search on his phone. So I sit down and search for what I want on my phone. Find what I want and go back. Another employee rudely told me I need to use the kiosk. I point out that it didn't work and to please give me the cards . She rolls her eyes and stomps to the kiosk. I leave. Guess FB was right about them not selling singles.

Great atmosphere and community for playing just about any tabletop game you'd like. High retail pricing is offset by their XP's program, allowing for an approximately 10% discount over time for loyal customers.

I'm admittedly not a gamer, and this place is not my demographic. However, I found this place dynamite.

It was well stocked, diversly supplied and organized. Proper COVID protocols seemed in order.

Staff (including owner) was engaging and friendly. Sufficiently answering all inquiries with a call to action...for my nephew who recently moved to town.

There were unique board games and puzzles too.

Well done!!!

This store & the staff are great! I sent them an message hours before they opened & John texted me back in a matter of minutes. After explaining that my wife & I were coming from Utah for the day he checked the stock on a certain item I was looking for & agreed to set one aside for me. The store itself is wonderful. I could have spent hours there. All the staff were friendly & helpful. They even helped my wife with suggestions on where she might look locally for some of the things she was shopping for. We will be back! Frequently, I hope!

Do not run in the store! that was about the knowledge of boardgames all of the employees had of boardgames I was interested in. Perhaps they know more of the mainstream hobby board games, but if you have a game in your store, I would think someone would have a clue about it.

I usually never write a review and this is my first. I don't think I have met the owner but I've only had a positive experience so far with the staff. I come in with a lot of patience and I get even more back. The staff is "against my knowledge" very knowledgeable. From pokemon cards, to D&D, and even to miniature making they enthusiastically seem to "go out of their way" to help me. Each time I visit I am always double checking their shelves and asking questions and they answer with just again positive attitude, did I mention that they were patient and never hinted any irritation? I don't know how things are like but I definitely recommend this place. As a tip, the pokemon booster boxes are cheaper here than wii play games. however if you want singles you will be disappointed. I will be a regular customer here so please keep up the great service. It's a bad habit but I don't return to a shop, regardless of their employees and pricing" if my shopping experience is ruined like many of the other reviews here, especially if it is the owner who ruins it. I may be one person but I've spent at least 3 figures every visit thanks to the staff with no regrets. In a business every penny counts. Offer a smile and know what you sell and you are also, in a way, selling that knowledge and experience to your customers and making more profit and investing. Thanks for everything so far.

Really Nice Place.

Really Nice Place.

Prices are a bit high IMHO. But, its clean, neat, well lit, and well organized.

The staff has a decent grasp on certain games they sell, and I imagine this differs from employee to employee. Given the vast offering of table tops games now available, it is likely difficult to keep employees versed in every game you sell.

So far, this is the nicest game store I've visited in Las Vegas.

It's a local shop. The people are friendly. I've been there three times looking for things, twice I called ahead, all three times I didn't find what I was looking for. The calls both made me feel like they'd be there. First was a game, second was something for Star Trek, third was something for D&D. The people are nice enough and they do have a decent facility.
It also feels somehow better than it did the last time I was there (maybe carpet color changed?) so I won't rate 1 star but I won't be going back so I won't rate 5 stars either. Their prices are a bit high and they don't price match, their comment is that they're local so they offer something you can't get otherwise. Due to the lack of them having what I want having a local inventory doesn't personally benefit me; however, for those who need the few things they do stock I'd recommend patroning them since these types of stores (family/friend face-to-face time oriented games, aka tabletop) are fewer and farther between than they should be.
