Fantastic, it's free, how could you not rate it 5 stars? Gorillas, bears, otters, reptile exhibit and the natural outdoor flowers and birds give you a relaxing day at the park experience. As a bonus you run into animal habitats. Lots of child play areas, very kid friendly. It's a wonderful way to burn a few hours outdoors.

Frankly speaking, it does not seem like this Zoo cares about it's animals. They always look tired, bored or depressed. The best place to be here if you must visit is at the Barnyard since the cows and such look very happy and content. I also enjoy the staff at the Barnyard more. They are all very friendly and welcoming. Also, check out their Greenery outside the zoo it's beautiful.

This is a beautiful park with free entrance to the zoo. Love the architecture, each habitat is very well maintain and animals have good food and water. I adore the polar bear who has a show where he eats and plays in his pool. Lots of kind staff willing to chat and share their experience and animal's life. The conservatory is gorgeous and the landscaping in front of it too. We could not see some animals but we had a great time. Parking is free, it took us a couple of minutes to find a spot. 100% recommended.

As far as zoo's are concerned, this one is very bare bone. I thought it was good for a free zoo. Furthermore, many of the popular animals make their apparition such as lions, giraffe, rhino, tigers, camel, zebras & apes.
The facilities were very good with food & restroom at the center of the site and every thing was clean.
As for the service, I saw very few service people on site to answer questions if any. Again, given that the zoo is free I am not surprised and thought the level of service was acceptable.

A really cool zoo. They've got all your typical zoo animals but what really sets it apart are the zoo grounds. Tons of beautiful trees and the landscaping is really beautiful. Their gorillas were a highlight!

Staff was great. The train and carousel was good fun. Lots of animals and a great avian center. Birds flew rite up to us in a live rain forest area. Sea lion show was way cool too. A great place.

Really great zoo, can't believe it was free! We went on a warmish winter day, you could still see plenty of animals and they were being very active. The primate house is great, cool lions and other big cats too. Friendly staff, and good food options in neighbourhood nearby. Very impressed, a good activity to do in Chicago!

I'm so impressed with how there is this natural oasis in the middle of the city. Beautiful flowers during the summer. Signs were very clear as well. Great place to take a photo of the city.

Enjoyed the lights they put up for the winter. I think the lights can be updated at some point but for a free place, can't complain! Animals aren't out obviously in the winter, I think only 2 or 3 exhibits are open (indoor).

This is a great free Chicago activity when the weather is nice in the city! If you can find street parking in the nearby neighborhoods or if you can walk there, this is a great place to bring kids or out of town guests.

Our favorite exhibits are the small mammal house, there is an adorable sloth who is always fun to look for (it always seems to be hiding) in the second part of the house, and the snow monkeys who always seem to be out.

If you walk out of the zoo, just south of Cafe Brauer is a great bridge that has the best/my favorite view of the city.

I need to give this place a better shot. I was there early spring, when most animals weren't out. We went back for the holiday lights. That was busy, but kind of cool. My biggest thought was that they tried to do too much. If they took what they had done, but only put it on half the park, it would have been amazing!

Plenty of photo ops for the 'gram minded friends that we had with us, though. Our 2 year old also loved it.

I heart the LP Zoo. I have been here endless times during my time living in Chicago and every time I am beyond impressed. The fact that it is free makes it amazing! You don't have to feel badly if you go see one or two things or if you just make it a power walk as a workout. I would recommend viewing the organic garden in the petting zoo area. On my most recent visit there, the let me try some of the rasberries growing in the garden.

Oh hi, zoo! The Lincoln Park Zoo is a great way to spend an afternoon with family or friends. It's free admission and has all the animals and attractions as the other zoos.

Lincoln Park Zoo has lot of great events throughout the year too. From Zoo Lights to Yoga classes in the summer, there's something for everything.

Nicely designed with everything connected, walkable, surrounding parks, conservatory, zoo. If you can find a place to park, it's all free. If you do pay for parking, park at the zoo parking lot. From here everything else is walkable: the trails, beach, zoo, parks, conservatory. Zoo parking 30 minutes is free, daily range from $20-$35. If you find street parking, it's free. Nice zoo, lovely, scenic area of city skyline, water, sculptures.

This place is good for a small free zoo. You get what you pay for, but don't miss out on something both fun and educational, and free. The grounds are beautiful and there are enough animals to enjoy. They Lions and tigers were missing, but the rest was pretty good.

I am astonished by this city zoo...so beautiful, clean, and spacious! The animal exhibits are plentiful...there is so much to explore and enjoy...and it is FREE and open 365 days a year! I am so impressed at the quality of this zoo for being free of charge. There are seals, beavers, primates, reptiles, bears, rhinos, big cats, wolves, ostriches, kangaroos, zebras, bats, swan and duck lake, cavys, etc. Polar bears and penguins will be added to the zoo in fall of 2016, too! There are air conditioned animal and bird exhibits, too, in beautifully clean and well-maintained facilities to catch a break from the outdoor exhibits during very hot and humid weather. Even the drinking fountains are beautiful at this zoo...beautiful brass sculptural drinking fountains whimsically adorned with animals of course! There is a lovely patio for dining and refreshments near an enclosed baboon exhibit, which makes for great entertainment while eating lunch. My little girl loved the gorgeous carousel outfitted with every zoo animal imaginable....she chose to ride the leopard on the carousel because it matched her leopard shoes she wore the day we were there (too much cuteness, I swear). A small train is available for children to ride as well. The carousel and train are a few bucks to ride...and worth the smiles it brings to kids' faces....especially mine! Love this place!

The Lincoln Park Zoo is awesome! It is a wonderful little free zoo that you get to see exotic animals while looking at downtown Chicago! Also, almost all animals have an indoor exhibit for going in when it storms or it is cold. I really like the Reptile and Mammal House where it displays primates, fish, invertebrates, snakes, lizards, turtles, otters, crocs, small mammals and much more! I also love the African Journey House where you can see monkeys and birds in one habitat. You can also see Pygmy Hippos and Dwarf Crocodiles. Klipspringers also share there exhibit with lovebirds. What was really cool is the indoor giraffe exhibit with an open topped Aardvark/Meerkat exhibit in front of it and that was cool! The Lincoln Park Zoo is a must-see!

Did Run for the Zoo for the 1st time and very much enjoyed it! There was a pretty good crowd but they managed us all very well. The grounds were beautiful to run through and everything was very clean. Workers were all friendly and efficient. I plan to do it again next year! Wish I took more photos but I was too busy breathing :)

I fell in love with Lincoln Park zoo the first time we went. As someone in from Canada, the concept of a zoo being open and free is a wild concept.

The first thing I noticed was the size of the exhibits for the animals. It really never seemed like any of the creatures were overstressed or in a state of distress.

The staff and volunteers are always so kind and welcoming, and being there for the Christmas lights event was a great way to be introduced to this wonderful spot.

My girlfriend lives walking distance from the zoo, and it has become a rather fantastic Sunday morning tradition of ours when I am in town now, to walk over, and spend the morning with our favourite animals. The big cats will be missed during the renovations, but we're very excited to see the development of their enclosure!

Anybody visiting the city of Chicago, is doing themselves a disservice by not spending an afternoon in Lincoln Park Zoo.
