I have always loved walking around the zoo. I am glad there is still no cost to enter! I have brought students there on field trips. Zoo Lights is amazing (in December). Giraffes are my favorites! The gift shop is reasonably priced; I often shop and save items for birthdays! Everyone should visit, support, and love Lincoln Park Zoo!!!

In the winter its supper relaxing and peaceful even though there arent a lot of animals, you can still enjoy the atmosphere while listening to some music. The monkeys, apes and lions are my favorite part

I was born and raised in the Lincoln Park area in 1958. So Lincoln Park Zoo means and represents alot to the fabric of my life. Always has and will always be one of the "best" and "free" attractions in the united states and unique only to Chicago. Plus I've some a couple of very unique experiences that are relayed to the zoo so i will always hsve a special place in my heart for our zoo!

ZOO LIGHTS is a MUST!!!

Its free and cute and definitely can put you in the Holiday mood, despite the temperature outside. HAHA

Lots of lights and shows that just make you go ahhhhhhhwhwhwhwhwhwwwww.

They also have hot chocolate, spiced wine, and apple cider.

Obviously you can pay for parking there OR you can park on Cannon for free and walk there to really save on cash.

With the park being in the middle of city, it really made for a unique scenic experience. The grounds were immaculate as were the animals that were on display. Park employees were very helpful with knowledgeable. One of the best free zoos I have ever been too.

Zoolights were fantastic. My family had a great time. But bring your own water. All of the drinking fountain are off in winter, and it's impossible to find free water. It may be free to get in, but everything else had a cost. Water isn't worth that cost, but everything else at the zoo is.

Yay for free zoos! I love going to zoos and seeing animals. went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was tons of fun. Most of the animals were out and about (other than the seals but it's cool) Definately a great place to go with a family.

Love the zoo! We get the parking pass (donate the right amount of money that comes with the perk of a free parking pass) so we can park for free. Today we spent a while at the Lilly Pool enjoying the peace of nature in the middle of the city then went to the zoo to check out the polar bear and other animals.

It gets 2 stars because I feel horrible giving 1 to anyone. That said, I went to the Zoo to see the Polar Bears. I thought it was a bonus to get to see a Seal and Otters. There are no animals in the exhibits. No signs stating that the exhibit is closed or animals are inside due to weather. Nothing on the site letting you know not to waste the trip on a very hot afternoon when you could do something else. In general I was underinpressed with the facilities. I felt bad for the skinny wolf and the rhino in the smallest enclosure.
There are lots to do in Chicago. Go somewhere else.

Amazing, love the fact that you can just walk right in without bothering with any check points or ticket. We were walking along in Lincoln Park and next thing we knew were in the middle of the zoo. It is a nice walk in the park filled with things to look at. All the exhibits are well maintained and there is a lot to see.

Lovely lake front zoo. Wow what a treat, in Chicago and on the lake front! Free admission, you have to pay for parking so that's to be expected (street parking if you can find it). Bring your walking shoes! We saw most of the animals and the fall setting was beautiful. Reserve ahead because the spots fill up quickly. Ample parking as well. Overall a great outing and great family fun for all.

Not the biggest zoo, and enclosures feel a bit small. Everything is very clean and well kept. Free entry, with free street parking (if you're lucky) or cheap parking if you don't mind a small walk. Over all a good experience. Kids loved it.

Free and friendly? Yes please. Good place to walk around and see animals. Seems like a lot of people go, but it doesn't feel that crowded at the individual animal cages.

They are definitely not in Olympian shape. I mean the lions have sagging skin and hanging fat deposits, but this doesn't mean you won't enjoy the sights of penguins, exotic birds, and the occasional rhino.

The facilities are in tip-top shape. Bathrooms clean. Children well-kept. Ice cream and drink stands around. I haven't encountered a free facility in such good conditions.

I love that you can be strolling throught the park and then just happen upon wild animals in the middle of the city! I've only been here a few times and always see different animals. The small mamal/reptile house is a strange combo - sandcats are my favorite.

I really liked this zoo fort many reasons. One, it is free. Two, it is very well shaded so it is not too hot. Three, a decent selection of animals that you can get pretty close to. A perfect activity that you can do in under two hours. Additionally, it is in a great location just off the lake shore in Chicago.

Always a nice place to drop by on a sunny day, both summer and winter (it s free!). Indoor exhibits include a large bird house, the reptiles and small mammals house, and several others. Just outside the zoo and on the same area you can find the nature boardwalk with a restaurant, the Conservatory, and a little Farm exhibit for kids. Parking is free on Stockton Dr but spots can be hard to find.

No felines! D:
But a fun time none the less.
Water fountains don't work though, highly suggest bringing water bottles so you don't spend more than you need to see animals.
Best times to go is late morning early afternoon, noon can be too hot for some animals and can lead to sleepy ones.
Don't bring your pets to the zoo (unless an authentic service dog) because this is a place to see exotic animals not a risk for your pooch or other wildlife.

Stroll through the zoo, if you get tired of it after an hour or two, it's OKAY because it was free. Spend some money on a ride, a pretzel, a toy, etc, because that's what keeps this magical place going. The zookeepers love their animals here and more importantly conservation science in the backrooms of almost every building are making critical strides for a lot of endangered species or habitats that are struggling. Everyone here is passionate about wildlife and aware of the complexities of captive animals, but the space itself is a quiet oasis amidst a busy city.

Welll it s a nice zoo for free well that s if you can find parking otherwise you ll spend 20 bucks on a nearby parking. I would recommend Brookfield zoo it s cooler and you can even touch the animals like snakes and monkeys.

Amazing experience and IT IS FREE! If you want to experience nature and have a good walk this place is for you. If you re from the city and have never seen farm animals, check out the barns!

Last of the free zoos. We spent a very enjoyable day here, this place is a bigger than I thought it would be with plenty of places to sit down. Lots of staff around if you have any questions or need any help. Fantastic work that the staff do here, they are credit to the zoo.
