This is an awesome place to go as a Canadian. There are different tours for each block of parliment. I would recommend showing up early to pick up the tour ticket at the building across from parliment hill. They let you go into the house of Commons and the senate to listen to the politicians debate. They do have a strict coat and cell phone policy which restricts you from bringing it in. This is one of the most icon places in Canada.
A must place in Ottawa!!! A suggestion would be get a line early. Me and my friend went there 9 am and wait for almost one and half a hour to get a ticket for 1:20 pm tour which is the earliest option we can get. But definitely worth the time.
Very touristy place but dur to high level of squarity make thing easier and comfortable, you can easily enjoy this place for an hour, its beautiful and architect is once of kind. Apart from parliament there are lot of other places around that you can enjoy and some very beautiful churches. Due to this is major attraction this place most busy. Hope u enjoy Ottawa #ottawa #parliament
The Canadian flag maple leaf flag displayed in the Houses of Parliament is replaced every day. Once used, it will be sent to the applicant for free. The waiting order is 31 years for the flags of the East and West buildings, and 42 years for the flag of the central Peace Tower. If you still want the national flag, please send your name, address, telephone number, email address, and the desired flag (East, West, Peace Tower) by email to the Ministry of Public Works and Government Services. The destination is only in Canada. Don't forget to change your address when you move.
Very beautiful building. Note that since the attacks of the past few years, security has been greatly strengthened. There are several guard stations and a metal detector to pass through. To take into account during the visit.
I got to visit the entire thing because on of my friends works there. No guards following nothing. I got to sit in a minister chair. Pretty cool experience.
A must see while in Ottawa. You can get tours across the street at the Capital Information Kiosk. Tours are free, funded for by the government, and very immersing.
The tour of Canada's parliament is fascinating and was well worth doing on a wet summer day. The building is beautiful and, because parliament was not in session, we were able to enter the chambers.
The evening son et lumiere show on the parliament building is also worth attending when it is running - the one I saw was quite spectacular.
Amazing inside and out. The free tour was awesome, and our guide was excellent. Made me proud(er) to be a Canadian. The Peace Tower is available without a tour, but to enter you need a "ticket" from the building across the street. Leave lots of time to go through security. We left 30 minutes and ended up 15 minutes late for our tour. They will be closing up the main building for a 10 year renovation - so I'm glad we got in before that started. We were able to go to the galleries after the tour and watch the house in session, which was so cool. I wish we would have gone sooner. We also reached out to our MP, and were able to meet up with his assistant (and him after) for a private tour - which was even better. Really felt like we learned a lot about how parliament runs and what our MPs do when they are there. Highly highly recommend for all Canadians.
A visit of this stunning building is mandatory if you live in or visit Canada. The architecture is gorgeous and the visits of the Peace Tower as well as of the Library of Parliament are unforgettable highlights. The only negative element is that wait times can be excessively long during the summer. I would suggest a visit during the autumn or the winter.
Great place to visit, especially since the tour is completely free. The guides are knowledgeable and the sights are interesting. Note that that as of March 2019, the Centre Block is closed indefinitely for renovations.
Beautiful place of the Canadian government, a lot of history and beautiful place you have to visit it personally !! They can make a free appointment at number 90 on the opposite street .... they have to arrive at 9:30 am to get a place, for tours they must also leave their luggage there, to be able to enter the parliament route, we were there longer after the tour ended !! It is very fast but if you can hopefully you can climb the tower of peace as we did and admire the beautiful views of the river and the city as well as the canal. all photos are mine and are copyrighted.
Great free tour of the Parliament! Be in line before 9am as tickets run out quickly. Renovation will begin in 2018, hurry up to see this amazing place, as it will be closed for 10 yrs!
The building that was lit up in a very large and clean place was very impressive. In winter, it will freeze if you don't take measures against the cold.
Without a doubt the best place to see in Ottawa. There is something so awe-inspiring to be somewhere where so much history has taken place. The architecture, the history, the art - it's so worth the visit. Everyone should be sure to take advantage of the free tours before Centre Block closes for restoration soon.
Terrible experience. The tour started almost an hour late - nobody knew anything - and then the tour lasted for 11 minutes instead of 30-45 minutes. Information content - e.g. about the political system in Canada - exactly zero. Unfortunately, a waste of time
A must see when in Ottawa. Tour is free, knowledgeable friendly guides, fascinating history. Go early morning to ensure a spot, Sunday is the best day.
Great place to check out while visiting Ottawa. Even as a local I find myself here every other weekend. It's a central point for downtown Ottawa. My kids love the wide open space.
They do offer tours of the Parliament Buildings. It's very worthwhile! I recommend going early in the mornings (summertime) to beat the crowds.
I went to Christmas last year and the Christmas light (laser show) was fantastic. I came here to see the reason for my trip to Ottawa but did not disappoint. I really hope to see you once.
Canada's parliament buildings are a wonderful thing to see especially if you are Canadian. Must-see if you are in Ottawa. Love the library - just a splendid place to spend time. Get a guided tour if you can and try to see parliament in session if you get the chance. Lots of great historical mini-sights to see as well
The guided tours were sold out, but this place is larger than life. Getting there in real life is an experience in itself. Let's say it's a must-see when you visit the city, a must if you are coming for the first time!
Very positive and upbeat guides give an interesting tour in the Parliament, even with some interaction with the audience. The building itself is a remarkable example of historic architecture. The tour is free and can be offered in English or French, but it is necessary to sign up for the tour in a building some 500 meters away from the Parliament
Really disappointed with my experience, we drove several hours, and on our last day when we want to visit the parliament, it is about noon, it is too late for the visits .... Plan to arrive very early, as it takes a ticket to visit the parliament. Also, it is not guaranteed that you can visit it ... It all depends on the government and what is going on
A beautiful place, but the tours or ride up the Peace Tower require tickets. These are free, but must be picked up in advance across he street and often sell out in the morning.
Really awesome place to go and visit and a must if you are canadian lol. The only downside is the wait time go inside the parliament and visit it, but you cant complain since it's free. You can also buy a souvenir inside since they have a Parliamentary boutique located on the second floor near these doors you can't miss lol. What is a must do is go inside in order to get a bird's eye view of the city from the Peace tower. Make sure to go on the website to check their opening hours since it changes a bit throughout the year.
Although the premises have been moved to the old train station and the east and west buildings for many years to come. The guides are great, it helps to understand the Canadian political system and all the symbols present, visits are not too long so we do not get bored. Really to do
The tour was fantastic. Unbelievable architecture, and a unique view of Ottawa and surrounding area from the top of the peace tower. Highly recommended tour full of interesting facts about Canada. A long wait time in the morning to secure tickets was the only part of the experience that was less than ideal. The ticket office opens at 9 am and there was a line up around the block by 8:30 am that morning (and most other mornings), so get there early folks!
I saw the show they do in the evening, they explain the history of Canada by projecting everything on the facade of the Parliament. It is really interesting and spectacular.
Home of Parliament of Canada which has architectural elements of national symbolic importance and beautiful views above the Ottawa River. Walking tour around this site is worthwhile with lots of history references. Best time to visit is in spring with the beautiful tulips season, in summer on Canada Day celebration or in fall during the Remembrance Day Ceremony on Parliament Hill and then skating on the Canal in winter.
I came here for the Northern Lights show. It was great to see Canadian history come to life through this sound and light show. It's really well done. they do make updates to the show each year so be sure to check it out every year.
Nice place to visit, the tour is great, we had a good time here with my family. I always take a walk around the gardens when I am in town for work. There are a number of Statues to see, and it feels like a significant part of Canada!
Definitely a must visit if you're coming to Ottawa. They do offer tours but the time slots fill up very quickly so I recommend getting tickets early in the day and go see other things before your tour starts. The building is gorgeous and the tour was informative but my tour guide was a bit annoying and painful to listen to for the entirety of the tour.
Excellent tour with lots to see and very helpful, knowlegable and friendly tour guides. Lots of security measures and rules so make sure that you go early for the tour. You also need to get your ticket from the information center across the street. The tour is free and a necessity for the Ottawa experience.
Best place in Canada to protest illogical gun bans that have no real technical basis but are being pushed for votes from a misinformed (lied to) public.
