Liberty Heights Fresh Review

Horrible service.

I was planning on using Liberty Heights Fresh as a cater for my wedding. I had a conversation with Steven over the phone about 3 weeks ago and he was very pleasant over the phone. However, he never followed through with a word he said.

On our first conversation, I asked him if we can schedule a food testing, he said he'd check with his staff and contact me within a few days. 2 weeks passed and he never contacted me. I decided to email him and he responded immediately and told me he'd contact me the following day. Needles to say, that didn't happened. I feel like we're having to jump through hoops for him to get anything done

Don't hire these guys as your caters!.

Excellent produce, meats and cheeses. The hot soups are great and I love that it is always clearly indicated whether a soup is vegetarian or gluten-free.

Duck procuttio, best dates and figs hands down in the city, delectable cheeses and other fine cured meats. Need I say more? Freshly squeezed OJ and goat cheese brownies. You've got to check this place out, even if you just want fresh baked breads from local bakeries.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this store!! Steven was so nice and we had a really good conversation. My Vegan Veggie Panini was AMAZING!!! I'm definitely going back as often as I can :)

The carrot cake here is great, but it gets smaller with every passing day, which is strange given that it costs $6 a slice. We'll keep coming back for the Garwood's Ginger Beer, which is awesome, but we'll skip the carrot cake and probably come a lot less frequently going forward.

This place has such a great vibe. The staff here are among the most friendly and helpful of any establishment I've visited. Selection is amazing, especially considering how small the store space is. Always well stocked, always fresh. They live up to their name! Prices tend to be a little higher than organic produce sections of other stores, but they ALWAYS have what I'm looking for every time (unlike other stores) and the freshness is top-notch. It's such a joy to come here. It seems funny to say that about a grocery store but it's true.

They have an awesome assortment of fresh and weird ingredients, especially for the size of the place. The bread is probably the best in the area to say the least. HOWEVER, holy hell the prices are high. If you have a grocery list be sure to bring an extra arm, leg, and first born, because even if they aren't upselling you the same things as everywhere else (which they mostly do), you can rely on them stocking only the cream of the crop expensive options. The sale rack is cute, nothing compared to the one at Caputo's.

Go check these guys out absolutely amazing produce absolutely amazing selection of everything that they have from Brandy to cherries to orange marmalade you name it they probably have it and that is such a great experience you won't be disappointed and you will definitely find something you didn't know you needed well be back 100% recommend

This place is your key to local sustainable foods. I've never bought something here that is anything less than excellent. Their bbq beef brisket Friday special is next level. The cheese and produce also speak for themselves. If your willing to spend a few extra dollars to support both the local and sustainable movements, check this place out!

Favorite little market. Some of the best foods I've ever had from pre-made foods to shelf products. Stocked with most everything you'd need and high quality! Love supporting this local and conscious company. Friendly staff. Go shop and support this wonderful place!

I went to see what local, humanely processed meats they had. Nice selection.

Very cool place. The chocolates I bought there were godly. But the most impressive thing was the roast beef sandwich wrapped up near the cashier... I can't get it out of my mind... all organic and grass fed and exceedingly yummy.

Stellar cheese selection! LHF always has what I'm looking for and can't find anywhere else. It's a SLC treasure.

Everything in the the store is special and curated. If only Utah law allowed them to sell wine, this would be foodie heaven.

This is the best place to get local and imported foods. The variety is crazy cool and the food is always of the highest quality. I definitely recommend this place to shop for groceries or just to pick up something fun to snack on or for an impromptu picnic. Keep this local gem going by shopping here instead of a big box store!

This place is great as far as local grocery stores go! The produce here is super fresh and always tasty. Their cheese monger is of particular quality. They do everything in their power to get a large variety of cheeses and this guy knows his stuff.

This place is amazing and had been consistently great for many years. Great selection of vegetables and fruits and seasonal specialties. Hard to find items are usually available here, like porcini and crimini mushrooms and fresh figs (when in season). The staff are very knowledgeable and incredibly friendly and helpful. Been shopping here for years and wont ever stop.

We are soooo happy to have signed up for their Sustainably Farmed Food program/ CSA . This week s bag was such a delight!Their produce is unbelievably fresh and I m so impressed by their customer service and level of care. All their employees wear masks and they ll bring your share out to you car. Thank you Liberty Heights Fresh!

Love this place for a few items mainly: milk, eggs, Eva's bread and the occasional produce item, particularly the carrots. I would go bankrupt if I did all grocery shopping here, though.

I also love to get lunch here, since it's close to my house... delicious and actually somewhat fairly priced. I paid $9 for a container of chicken curry and a container of roasted veggies - not bad, and so delicious!

We are lucky to have a place like this in the neighborhood. Long live Liberty Fresh Market.

A central feature in the foodie world, this unique shop carries items you just won't find elsewhere. Very knowledgeable staff. Fun selections of gourmet and unique foods including fruits, meats and chocolates. Some great baby options as well. If you like farmers markets you'll love Liberty Heights.

Love this little store. Friendly and helpful employees. You can find seasonal fruits and veggies. Check out the cheese selection. It's huge. Pricier than a regular grocery store but as expected for a small, organic food shop. We love to stop in and get some ice cream or freshly made sandwiches.

This is an amazing little grocery store! Very clean offering lovely local fruits and vegetables humanly raised and processed meats. Wonderful cheeses and olives bar.

My husband and i started shopping at LHF the day it opened. The quality of nearly everything that is sold there is excellent. We backed out of shopping there for a time when our finances went flat, but we had a serious and ongoing conversation about what we were and what we should be eating, and decided that the quality of what we eat is very important to our health. For those reasons we went back to LHF and have been there ever since.
Since my husband's death i stopped shopping there for a long period of time due to the emotions the store engendered in me, but i shop there again, now that I'm not grieving so deeply.
The owner Steve, and his employees have always been very informative and kind to me, and i deeply appreciate the wonderful food, the excellent service, and the thoughtfulness of the entire staff.

Rudely Asked me to leave for not using a mask when I clearly stated I have a heart problem that impairs my breathing. On top of it this place has outrageous prices and expired saffron (which is useless) for the same items that Caputos has up the street for less.
Spare your time this business doesn't care about your health and wants to rob you blind on top of it.

Local grocery with an incredible selection of high end products. Amazing cheese selection!

Liberty Heights has been a long-standing oasis in the Salt Lake City. Promoting local eats as well as exotic flavors, this store had it all. The prices are high but you aren't just buying delicious olive oil, tomatoes and honey. Toy are paying for some of the most knowledgeable cheesemongers in the valley, for the opportunity to learn about heirloom carrots, for a food community that is priceless. This business deserves our gratitude for being one of the first to bring food diversity and the buy local movement to our dinner parties.

Nothing here is cheap, but everything is of good quality. Great corner shop

OK, good selection.... I just don't ever walk out of here thinking about when I will be back next.

Expensive but it has a great selection of local items. The cheese selection alone is worth the visit.

Charges for packaging on items they prepackage. I had them weigh the cheese, and the chicken from Mary' Chicken and both items were priced with the weight of the packaging.
The cheese was .25 per pound, and the chicken was .75 per pound. I was paying an extra $20 per month on packaging alone.
The cheese was mislabeled. I started a Raw diet years prior, and the label said the Euphoria cheese was raw. I called the supplier on the label, and they said it was not a raw cheese, and wasn't sure why they would label it that way.
I was kicked out of the store for bringing this information up, and have posted a video on Youtube of the charge for packaging and when I went back in and got kicked out in a grand fashion.
I have voice recordings between me and the owner where he admits to charging for packaging and wanted to know what he should do about it. He wanted to know my home address, and that raised a huge red flag. Especially the way he tried to trick me into giving him my address. Saying he wanted to send me an invitation to come talk to him, even though we were already talking on the phone with each other. He wanted to come to my house and talk about what happened. I know what you were trying to do.
For this I have not been back, and I will never trust this man. The prices were already sky high, I don't know why you have/had to charge people for packaging which according to Marry' Chicken they don't even charge you for.

Fresh fruit and delicious bread. Unusual bottled sodas. This place is sweet.

High quality organic/local produce, meat, cheese market. Liberty Heights Fresh reminds me of top notch neighborhood grocery's in Germany. They are really good at using the space they have, although it is a small place.
If you live in the neighborhood you owe it to yourself to stop by, and if you live elsewhere but want to treat yourself it's also a good place to visit.
They're the perfect place to stop if you want a super nice picknick in liberty park.

A true local gourmet farmers market! All of the unique food items that you could want! An incredible way to explore the culinary diversity that Salt Lake has to offer with locally-produced items and imported specialty foods. Highlights: bread, cheese, spreads, meat and bitters/cocktail supplies.

Best cheese, chocolate, oranges, olive oil, and service in SLC.

We had a disappointing experience with the Liberty Heights Fresh CSA.

We signed up for a six week subscription and were excited to support local farmers and enjoy fresh produce. We learned Liberty Heights did not source locally, nor was the produce fresh.

Labels on the produce indicated it came from California or Mexico; rarely was it from Utah or an adjacent state. The meat was consistently sourced from New Jersey. Many of the labels were familiar to us as being brands we could buy at Whole Foods or in the organic section at Smiths for a cheaper price.

We were very dissatisfied with the freshness of the produce. Carrots became flaccid after a few days in the fridge. We returned a yellow squash that arrived already rotting. We bended celery into knots without breaking it. On two separate weeks the meat packaging had broken and arrived wrapped in a second plastic bag. We emailed Liberty Heights to complain and were advised to keep produce in a water bath in the fridge.

We were very happy to reach the end of our six week subscription. Then we received an email from a Liberty Heights employee (not automated) that they had charged our credit card for another six weeks for the auto renewal. The auto-renew checkbox was unchecked in our online account. We were again disappointed.

I've been long overdue writing a review. I've been coming here for many years. I'd come more often except that I can't walk out without spending too much money. They have the finest selection of fresh product and specialty items in the State. For a long time they had the best selection of Chocolate in the State. Caputo's has moved to the forefront there. Although there is chocolate here you won't see elsewhere. There are other places with more cheese, but nobody with a better selection of exotic small batch cheeses. The selection of olive oils is great. Steven Rosenberg has done a magnificent job here.

Best grocery store in SLC!! Always the freshest produce. It's a small little store, but they have a great variety of products. We've never bought anything that wasn't delicious and fresh. And they have so many local products you couldn't find elsewhere. They're such a staple to our city. They're always soooo nice too, and will randomly just give us things. It's also very enchanting and cute in the summer when they open up the side. Support local, pls!

Excited to go here but disappointed. Feel like you could accomplish similar with better prices. Less selection of interesting food than I expected.

This rating is for the frozen bagels alone - shipped in from NYC - Excellent.

The rest of the stuff is rather pricey.

This place is such a cool place to visit for fresh produce and local products. They also have imported specialty products which makes this place interesting and unique. I highly recommend stopping by and paying a visit.

The service at Liberty Heights is past excellent , but 3 is the highest option.

If you re looking for employment or care about how businesses treat their employees, skip this store. I got hired in the summer and told them once school started (I m a college student) I would have a more limited availability, but that I would be willing to work in any area of the store. Everything was fine for a while, but then they started hiring more people while simultaneously telling me they were spending too much on employment, so they had to cut my hours. They put on a show of acting like they cared about me getting the hours I needed, but weren t really doing anything about it. Fast forward and I got a call not to worry about coming in for my next shift because they had everything covered, but they would send me the upcoming weeks schedule. I never received the schedule, so I messaged the general manager to see if I had a shift the next day but didn t get a response. So I went into the store to look at a physical copy of the schedule only to find that I had been completely taken off. I received no explanation for my termination other than the general manager saying, I don t know what happened, but you ve been taken off the schedule . This company is so concerned with carrying obscure, expensive products that they don t care about the wellbeing of the people they employ. I wouldn t have even known I had been let go if I hadn t physically gone into the store to look at the schedule. Plus, I m the only income in my household so it s already somewhat difficult when I m in school. Now I don t know if we ll be able to pay rent this month, not to mention some recent medical bills.

Not as many products available as have been in the past. It was a little disappointing.

This store has excellent meats and cheeses, as well as local and organic produce. They do good deli items (pasta salad, wraps, etc). This is a good store to buy coffee concentrate from. I am also particularly fond of their fun soda collections - you can get Fentman's rose soda, Fentman's dandelion and burdock soda, and many other fun bottled soda varieties.

I love Liberty Heights! The owner is very friendly and so are the employees. I LOVE their selection of salami, cheese, milk, bread, and cage-free eggs. Such a cute shop!

Amazing local neighborhood grocery with an emphasis on local. Their lunch soups and sandwiches are amazing.

They have an amazing selection for such a tiny place. The people that work there are very knowledgeable and friendly. The prices are high but it's because you're getting very high quality food.

Got to admit, do not shop here as often as I would like (a little out of my way & not always in my price range) but staff is knowledgeable about their former cheeses & and other variety is pretty good too.

A hidden gem for the Sugarhouse / 9th & 9th location. Liberty Heights is a chic corner store that offers locally sourced and high quality ingredients. Selection is surprisingly large, and the staff is always really helpful! One thing that is important to note is that the parking is extremely limited. Small detractor for an otherwise great place.

A great market! I have the SFF subscription (like a CSA) and the organic produce is always fresh and priced very well.

Everything about this place is superb! ^_^ Love coming here on special occasions (for me that means maybe a special outing or birthday shopping, etc), or just as a little treat. Service has always been outstanding.

I love this store. Has really interesting products and great gift ideas or stocking stuffers. Some things can be a bit pricy so just a warning in advance but good quality and friendly staff.

Delighted to have a local shop dedicated to Hugh quality, fresh food. I enjoy regular walks to this place for a drink and a little snack with my kids.
