What an awesome concept for Downers Grove. City me...
What an awesome concept for Downers Grove. City meets suburbs with out being expensive. The sushi was so good! Finally a sushi place close by. Couple of glasses of wine later and I'm in love.

We have ate there several times in the past. Ate there again on Friday 4/3/15 after hearing about the Restaurant Impossible show. It is the only day they serve sushi. The improvements in the restaurant was very nice, service was excellent and the sushi was top notch. I mean really good! Price was fair as well.
It would be nice if they expanded beyond sushi rolls but they did have a nice selection. I think we are going back 1 week later.
Lemon Tree Grocer is unique to our town. You can pick up groceries and eat a delicious meal at Lemon Tree. My favorites are the short rib nachos and a Moscow Mule at Zest Bistro, the restaurant inside Lemon Tree. . This past Thanksgiving I ordered two 20 lb. turkeys cooked and a few of our sides for our family of 26. We are still talking about how we have never had such delicious turkey! Fresh herbs and lemon baked inside the turkey. Everyone at Lemon Tree Grocer works hard to make sure you have a great and memorable experience. I also love they carry Gluten Free items.
Here's the paradox of Zest (the restaurant affiliated with Lemon Tree). The food is spectacular. The service is atrocious. I've undergone selective amnesia up to this point with Zest: I kept going back hoping the service would eventually shape up. Unfortunately it never has.
Zest has some identity problems. It can't figure out if it wants to be a fun little eatery (location, atmosphere) or an upscale/hip restaurant (menu, prices). Based on higher prices (you can get similar menu items elsewhere in downtown Downers Grove that's as good or better, for a lower price) and crappier service, I've finally given up and determined that I won't go back. It's a shame. The food is very good.
The service, however, is ridiculously terrible. It doesn't matter what day it is or how busy it is. It's universally bad, between taking forever to get drinks or an order in, to never being able to get waitstaff back to your table after you get your food.
f you have extra money to blow, this is your place. It's chock full of a few items you may need and tons of stuff you never needed but just discovered you cant live without! OH what a trap! I love the selection of micro brew beers and wine. You can pick up a fresh, fully cooked meal to go from the deli counter or dine in at the cafe. While you're waiting for your meal check out the selection of wonderful cheeses at the cheese counter or check out all the gluten free products.
There is so much going on in this small space it's unreal.
Amazing food, however the service seems to keep slipping more and more each time we go back...They are either short staffed or out of several menu selections. You constantly have to ask for little things like a refill on coffee, napkins even silverware. As fabulous as the food is, if the service doesn't improve, you will lose our business and many others.
Lemon Tree and Zest are incredible. Great wine selection, phenomenal food, friendly staff - all at reasonable prices! I would recommend to anyone and everyone.
I came here to check out their selection on organic produce. I was blown away! They had amazing produce all at incredible prices! I ended up staying for dinner with my 2 year old daughter and I was even happier with how kid friendly they were. We will definitley be going back soon!!!
From the outside it looks like just another upscale market but enjoy a dinner on the patio and you will think you are dining at a fine establishment in the city. My 10 year old son said the skirt steak was the best he has ever had. On many nights one of the owners will check on your table and may even buy you a drink.
Very solid beer selection, various fancy groceries, a restaurant and small bar on site, this multi-faceted small grocer is convenient to downtown Downers Grove and the train station, and worth a stop if you need beer for the train, to make a small grocery run, or are just looking for a good place to grab a bite to eat or a drink or two.
