Lovely tranquil place to walk around. The castle is lovely and picturesque and the grounds are beautiful.
Great wheelchair accessible, lovely to wonder round
Fun and easy. Booked my trip through premium tours. We spent about two hours there. Wish I had a bit more time to take more photos
Beautiful castle I think it is the most beautiful castle in England that I have seen. If you come to England, it is definitely worth going to
Excellent. History at many levels. Magnificent setting. Good luck to the people who were getting married there.
Fantastic history and grounds to explore and enjoy across all seasons. Much more than you think. Good for couples and families.
A truly fantastic and immense place. Really worth a nice guided tour, park and castle kept very well, well cleaned and tidy. Very quiet and relaxing.
I highly recommend going to visit !!!
Easy to book online. Easy to find. A very enjoyable day out. We will be returning later on in the year.
Beautiful setting with tons of history. Worth a visit.
Leeds Castle is English Castle is located just 5 miles southeast of Maidstone, in Kent County, England, and dating back to 1119. [1] [2] [3] In 1278, King Edward I took the King of England at the castle, including the headquarters, preferring to stay. Imran current castle dates back to the nineteenth century, which is built on an island in the lake being Lin River east of the village of Leeds.
Tour guides were excellent and gardens were beautiful, however not enough places to replenish. (Drinks snacks toilets)
Visited here for the first time and we had a brilliant time , we didnt visit the castle but the grounds instead and it was a beautiful place ,we cant wait to return x
Brilliant as always. Glad they also invite some event, like a classic car show which I have visited.
very enjoyable and mostly a well organised event. more variety for food vendors next time and faster service for food and drink especially water for the children on such a hot day.
Outstanding castle, well worth a visit. You get free entry for 12 months after you purchase your ticket and there is always something going I here that you'll be back again and again, theres so much to do in Kent that this place will always be in the list for a weekend away as well as exploring. something new
A bit expensive, but a year long pass does get well used
Excellent day out, the punt ride was a great treat.
Fun day out for children, lovely castle and grounds. Annual ticket makes it good value for money.
Grounds are great, playground is really good and first raiders all around which was great when my child fell over- perfect for a family day out
Beautiful views with plenty to do for the younger ones
Charming castle that retains a lot of its history although very obvious when your in its been converted to a modern dwelling. Great tour around castle/house with some fascinating interiors both old and new.
Grounds truly stunning and well kept. Kids will love the maze and play ground and I'm sure the adults too. A great day out for all the family. I also stayed in the onsite hotel which was very nice although the room was quite pokey. Other than that recommend
Great place to walk 'take the kids . Boat rides very nice
Leeds Castle - steeped in history - art work a plenty, beautiful architecture, beautiful furniture the grounds are stunning. Your entry price is valid for the year. Go see the birds of prey, the Maze and the grotto.
One of my best experiences in UK. The castle is amazing as well as the landscape.
Really beautiful. It is worth taking a day to meet him and enjoy all his majesty
Pleasant day out in the grounds. Nice to experience with fewer people around due to covid but castle and other facilities closed.
Lovely castle and park. Easily spend a day here with children.
Just a beautiful place. Something for all ages. The staff are very helpful, nothing is to much trouble.
Absolutely beautiful destination, great gardens and many attractions for children. A star deduction is available for the extremely high price.
Great place to go and once you've got a ticket you can reuse it time again and the disabled bus was a great help I went to the vintage motor car show last Saturday a nice day the weather could have been better but a good time was had by all. . . . 9th September 2017
Hi all went to the food and drink festival today so glad I didn't have to pay again as I would have been truly disappointed, I can honestly say that the choice was not what I expected where was the charcuterie and the local butchers apart from sausages which I've had better. Oh well never mind.
Lovely day out , walk around the grounds ,then local pub for a drink and meal
Many call it the most beautiful castle in England, others the most beautiful in the world, one thing is certain .... they are right! An hour's drive from London (there are tours organized by coach) the castle has a huge parking, the cost of the ticket is about 25 pounds, once you enter you start walking along a lake until you get to the castle. Inside the castle a guide will take you inside the rooms explaining the use of the various rooms that are still used for conferences. After the castle you get to the royal gardens, where there is a refreshment corner, and continuing you get to a beautiful labyrinth, and an area where at 14 there is an exhibition of falconers. If you are in London, take half a day to spend in this enchanted place
Great walks plenty of open space great coffee shop (also helps)
Leeds Castle is a wonderful peice of land puntuated by streams and lakes and surrounded by thick forestry. As soon as you arrive you can smell the clean air and it makes you feel good and you will definitely sleep later!
Time
Depending on what time of year you go, we went just before autumn and again in November, you will be treated to either lush green forests, beautiful flowers. Or a fiery mix of oranges yellows and browns. Truly if you love nature its a wonderful place to be.
Wildlife
In addition to this there is plenty of avian wildlife, Geese, ducks, black swans, swans, more ducks. Best of all they all take feed from the hand, be wary, you can buy feed from the little shop on the way in, but only do so if you dont mind being followed and swamped by about 100 birds! I dont mind but be careful if you have kids some of the geese can be a bit over zealous.
Food
There are little booths for coffees and at the old stables there is a nice fish and chip shop or a place that does panini, as well as a little coffee and cake shop, very nice food. Or if you would prefer you can walk a bit further on and there is a pizza restaurant towards the end of the grounds. At the time we had fresh panini, very tasty!
Things to do
Aside from the walk itself (the grounds are huge) which for us was what the visit was all about, there are gardens, adventure golf, a mini maze with a grotto which is good for the kids and a falconry area which does shows from time to time, usually around 1500 but double check this. Then ofcourse there is the castle a wonderful peice of history dating back 900 years which sits in the middle of a moat!
Events
There are events all year around I should imagine, but we went on bonfire night on 03/11/2019. It was amazing, it's the biggest display in the southeast and it was incredible. There were plenty of food booths and a few rides for the children, lots of different types of food, a live music tent and a bar.
The missus had a really nice mulled wine but there was mulled cider elsewhere and beer and cider at the bar. I had a sausage and chorizo kebab and the missus had some pad thai. Towards the end at around 1730 we were treated to an incredible 30 minute firework display, literally the best I've seen in Kent.
After a hot chocolate we returned to the car and still got back in time to have a nice sunday evening, so 1430 to 1730 is a perfect time.
If I could add anything it would be some stalls to buy things like little souvenirs or toys and items. There is a little shop but it was impossible to get inside to buy anything. All in all a great event, just requires a few more interesting things other than food stalls for it to be perfect. The food was all locally sourced so it would be good to get some handcrafted item stalls or similar. Less a criticism, more a suggestion.
Overall a highly recommended location.
Fab castle not as big as I imagined but in good condition
Perfect for a family day out. Lots of space for the kids (and adults) to run wild. The Birds of Prey display is excellent.
Blew me away, the staff were so informative. Absolutely loved it. Learning the history and being able to see so much.
Lovely day out. Went for the Xmas markets - was not disappointed. The castle itself is beautiful too
Lovely old castle with so much history. Not only is the castle nice, the nature around this castle is amazing too. If you have the money you can even rent the place and have your wedding ect there.
Lovely day out! We bought our ticket last year and then went again the day before it expired (lasts 365 days) for the Xmas markets again! We did have to queue for 30 minutes to get into the actual castle but once inside it wasn't rammed which made it worth the wait! Lovely grounds for a walk too!
Really like visiting Leeds castle, beautiful grounds and facilities. However very disappointed with the Chelsea fringe less of a fringe more of a tassle!!! I expected to see a lot more than one shed (albeit a very nice shed). Usually enjoy the food as well but again disappointed in the Costa where there was a limited selection of dry, stale sandwiches. I will visit again as I have my years ticket and had a pleasant day out but was disappointing today
Went to the fireworks weekend, very very good, the fireworks and display exceeded our expectations, the rest of the event could have had more content and effort but what you went to see was great.
Excellent day trip from London. We were in dormant season, but the gardens would have been spectacular had we not been in the dead of winter.
Expensive but worth a visit. Once you have paid your ticket allows entry for 12 months.
A nice place for a visit , all tough most of the castle is not that old ! Beautiful park and a bit of history!
Monster Mash and Monster Academie for the kids. Just spooctacular!
Pleasant place! Enjoyed the castle, the gardens were very pretty
Fabulously relaxing place. We did a overnight stay and watched the Bohemian Rhapsody film in the grounds. Highly recommended
Went to the classical concert with friends, featuring the royal marines band, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a number of soloists singers. It was the 900th anniversary of the castle and not long after the 80th anniversary since D-Day, so there was a video sequence featuring the various aspects of D-Day which had a live orchestral accompaniment. There was also the acrobatic fly past by a Spitfire which is an annual event, but always raises the hairs on your neck with the beautiful sound and motion of the aircraft. It is topped off with a rendition of the 1812 overture featuring the firing of cannon by the armoured regiment and a spectacular firework display. A great day out with friends and family.
Beautiful, fully restored, medieval castle.
The price is too expensive for tourists since they rationalize by saying it is good for a year.
Absolutely gorgeous castle. A bit pricey for entry, but the view was splendid. The castle is beautifully maintained with a range of historical and more recent interiors. Beautiful garden walks from entrance to castle and then to park, maze and cafe. With a ticket lasting for a year, will 100% return ASAP
Great during lockdown. Really limited availability to castle. Only reason it lost a star is the price seems a bit steep with no castle visist. Apart from that excellent
Friendly staff, and very safe and covid friendly
1 way system clear and excellent.
Beautiful place to visit, interesting history, including more recent history. Lovely grounds. We didn't have time to check out the maze but our guide says it is fun, if a little difficult. We did purchase some of the spiced Mead, it was delicious!
I remember going to this castle as a kid years ago and it's still good even now. Plenty to see inside and around the castle. It's a great family day out but be aware that you can't bring prams into the castle. The outside is fantastic with the maze and falconry. Leeds castle is well worth a visit.
Had a really good time there, visited December 2013.
Nice Christmas market too
A combination of Stately home, gardens and activities, tour of castle is worthwhile, many interesting exhibits, outside, the moat is impressive.
There are many ducks and swans on another lake, where you can also have boat trips.
The falconry display was great, and you can visit the Aviary as well.
Your ticket allows you to make a return visit .
Bit pricey on the gate but Very beautiful castle and gardens !
