Stayed at L'auberge on two different occasions, while I found the room to be satisfactory...I take umbrage with accounts of the staff being courteous. My wife has difficulty speaking English and both the front desk and housekeeping staff were very curt and short with my wife..We also had a meal at the Jack Daniels grill where both the food and service left quite a bit to be desired...The waitress was rude and the food was almost inedible. I paid for a massage for my wife and due to an oversight on my part she was only minutes late...Her appointment was then moved back, understandable of course, but due to the masseuse being overbooked her massage lasted a grand total of twenty minutes when I paid for an hour. When taken all together, while enjoy playing in the casino...That will almost certainly be only experience we will continue
To partake in the future. Go to the Golden Nugget to stay and play at L'auberge.

For the money, you could spend that money at a better kept hotel. We pulled in to the parking garage and noticed the smell of one of the restaurants that makes everything so tempting from the start. Grilled meats filled the air. I immediately noticed walking in that it's very dark inside, giving the feeling of an old lodge in the mountains, perhaps hence the name and also an idea of that inn being near or on a lake in the mountains. The smell of roses or magnolias takes over because the casino is full of smokers. It takes me back to my childhood where that's all you breathe. Many of the slots are very old and left alone. Most people were on the digital slots with several lines to hit and win. I waited for newer ones like the Walking Dead but there were only three. Any new ones were taken for hours. If you're a penny or dollar gambler, there's plenty. We headed to the room after checking in. The Persian rugs are ripped and shredded in some areas, the few stores they have are nice, the restaurants pricey of course. The rooms are also dark and gloomy but somewhat typical of some older hotels. Dried spills of cleaner was left on the wall by the toilet but the bathroom setup is nice even with the door getting stuck. The room looks dated with avocado green headboards. We checked out the arcade and it's very small and expensive. Every game is a dollar. No coins can be used. One of the claw machines was easy to win. The pool area is the best part of the hotel. It's clean and you don't pay to rent the inner tubes. My kids had a blast. There's top 40 dance music playing which wasn't completely appropriate for kids but they didn't notice. The food at the Ember restaurant was decent. I had the pan roasted fish which tasted like I was given a plate of melted butter boiled in more butter. It began to make me sick. The mash tasted like butter and the fish had no other flavor than butter. The only flavor change were the asparagus. The steaks were okay but the dipping sauce was extremely salty and just too much. My son loved the crispy chicken though. For $19, you'd think you'd get more than a handful of large shrimp and a lemon as an app but no. Severely overpriced. The lamp lollipops were good but I'll hardly remember them when thinking of Lake Charles. Southern Kitchen was just okay too. Another overpriced restaurant with only decent flavors. Unfortunately the power went out and everything began running on generators. My seafood omelette couldn't be made so I was given a choice of gumbo or sandwiches. I chose gumbo. It was chicken and andouille. Small spice and salty. Also, I'd like to mention that our rooms did not come with info on the stores in the hotel and only one menu for room service for Southern Kitchen and the Asian restaurant. I wish they had menus for all but mentioned which ones have room service. This would help guests determine where to go before walking around and looking at menus. Also, info on surrounding stores, downtown stores and restaurants, museums, tours, etc would help. None of that was available in the room like it is for other hotels. The tiny beach they have is a nice spot where you can play in the water some and look at the sunset. Kids can bring beach toys and parents can sit at the nearby tables or bring your own chairs. There's also a walking path to Golden Nugget.
I'm glad there's a late night store open for quick eats and coffees. Unfortunately, you will have no microwave to eat in your room if you're in a rush. No fridge in your room either for leftovers. This makes it difficult for families with kids when they don't eat all their food or need their bottles cooled. If you eat at one of the restaurants, stuff it all in because you can't take it to go.

We went for lunch at the buffet on a Monday. All of the staff at L'Auberge were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was very good and there was a nice selection. It was a very enjoyable visit.

We have been coming here for years, and this will always be our home away from home. We have a casino host that we deal with, and this time they made it even more special. We were upgraded to a Palais Suite with a view of the pool. The room was drop dead gorgeous! Plush bed, Remote lighting, seating throughout and a tub that has only been in my dreams. Since we come here often, we have gotten to know a lot of the craps dealers and pit bosses and they are all very friendly. They do not put up with riff raff and if you treat them nice, they will be nice back!

If i could give it less than one star. No customer service. My friend explained to them he lost his wallet that's why all he had was his old ID. They turned him away and even escorted him to the door like a criminal. Never ever recommend this hell hole.

Great casino. On the tight side, if you're a slot player. Pretty good food and drink service. The room was showing it's age 4 sure.
The biggest letdown was the unknown stains on the bedding and the skidmarks left in the toilet. I'll spare you the pictures.

I stayed at the hotel the weekend of my wedding in June. The a/c DID NOT WORK AT ALL. I called down to the front desk someone came and checked on the a/c. He stated that they were having trouble throughout the entire hotel. When then he assured the a/c would be fixed. WHICH IT WASN'T. Not to mention the room was sticky and I paid money to stay in the suite which was not worth the money at all.

I had booked at the spa service for me and my husband for the Sunday. I called down to spa to let them know I wouldn't make it for the simple fact I didn't enjoy my time staying and didn't want to spend anymore money with the hotel. I was on hold for so long that I finally hung up.

Now my credit card is charged not only ONCE but TWICE for a service that never took place and a service that was awful. When I noticed that my card was charged for over 600 dollars I've called numerous times over a 2 week time period with no phone call back. Left voice mail after voicemail still nothing. Even left my name and number with numerous people still with nothing. So today makes two month later that still no call back. I called today to still not able to get in touch with anyone but stayed on hold for over 20 mins.

Nice hotel atmosphere. The pool is a very cool area to relax- bonus: there s an adult only pool area that is very calm and quiet. Looks like the pool area is set up to have parties etc with cabanas and nice pool seats. The general areas of the hotel are very nice- nice eateries and nice shopping areas. I don t gamble so I appreciated the areas to hang out while family gambled- nice bar and cozy sections by a fireplace. Very good impression overall.
