My work colleague and I had just finished a late morning demo for a physician group and needed summer lunch. Coton & Rye popped up in a search. We were going to be first-timers. We looked at the menu and said if it tastes as good as it looks, we are in good shape! Well, it did. I just found my new restaurant (and maybe hotel room) mainstay when in and around Dulles.

Not at all a luxury resort. More like a very basic hotel. Our room cost $300 per night and did not even have basic amenities. There was no mini fridge which was very annoying to me. The bathroom had literally a bar of soap. No cotton balls or q-tips or anything. If I'm staying at a "luxury" resort that charges $64 resort fees then I expect those basic necessities.
They claim to have 4 pools which is embarrassing for them because one if these is the base of a slide that you come into and then have to get out of right away-why in the world would you include that as one of your 4 pools. When we were there they blocked off use of 2 of the pools for private parties. Actually most of the resort was blocked off for events or private parties which left us with no where to go. That's another thing, if you are paying that much to stay at a resort and paying resort fees, they should not block basically everything off and leave nothing for you to do.
A member of the front desk staff was rude and condescending on multiple occasions. When we asked about a spa reservation we had he interrupted immediately and proclaims, "I DON'T have access to view that schedule". In my experience they should be able to help you with Anything. The "That's not my job" attitude is not acceptable for a hotel claiming to be a resort. That same guy when later asked if there were any outdoor spaces to just sit and enjoy the views that weren't blocked off for private events, his response was "Why would you want to go outside in this weather anyway"? I was really surprised with this response. It's not his decision to decide what weather is tolerable to us or not. Some of the staff was very nice BUT most of them acted like we were in the way.
NOT how I expect to be treated. One of the key things that makes me want to stay somewhere for a weekend away from the city is how they make me feel and feeling pampered. For the price that this weekend cost, it felt like a complete waste. I've had better stays at Hilton's, Spring Hill Suites, and even felt more pampered at Best Western!

For luxury resorts in Virginia I think I'll stick with Primland. It's worth the extra hours in traffic.

It's not what you would expect for an "in your back yard" resort. Much more of a destination experience. Food is excellent and facilities are very comfortable and relaxing. I haven't played golf here so can't comment on course quality, but they're beautiful looking!

Absolutely wonderful vacation! Staff is accommodating, knowledgeable and efficient. The food is amazing, especially at Cotton & Rye. There are so many activities on the resort and in the surrounding area that you feel like you dont have enough time to do! Family and pet friendly! Really enjoyed my stay here. We will be back!

This I will say is the worst resort to stay at. The public areas show major signs of wear, lack of maintenance, mold, and cleanliness. The staff are rude, uncharismatic, and are either unavailable, or unaware of their attentiveness to their resort guests. The servers in the restaurants are too busy out back smoking to even refill my water glass or they are just on their phone sitting at the bar. The resort and day spa hold no openings for resort guests so using the facilities seems to give priority to anyone not staying at the facility. If you really wanted to use the spa just go down the street to the holiday inn and make your spa appointments ahead of time and you will have no problems and save an incredible amount of money.

Great hotel, I just wish the bathroom showers were cleared of mold. And my end table had a bud light box case under it next to the bed you could smell the beer aroma. But other then that the food was great and the staff were too.

While at the resort things were ok but I left an item at the resort and when j called back they made great effort to pay no attention to my query about the item I left behind and forced me to use their clunky unintuitive website to ask about my lost item. They are expensive and one would expect better customer service but I guess since you have already provided revenue to them why would they feel any obligation to help. Not a place I would use again.

I was there for a charity golf event. The course was nice and fairly forgiving. The resort had decent food for lunch and dinner. I would play golf here again. If you are setting up a golf tournament, I would recommend this course.

They could not get my daughters credit card to work so she had to go to the front desk several times. My daughter was not thrilled with her very expensive massage. I opted for the male and my massage was wonderful.

The location and grounds are beautiful and the staff are very friendly but I can t give it more than 3 stars because the rooms are not the best. The decor in the rooms is a bunch of mismatched knickknacks, dirty carpets, dingy bathroom I am sorry to say. For the prices they charged the restaurant s didn t have the kind of food that you would expect from a top class resort.

The amenities are great, the rooms are pretty average, and absolutely everything comes with additional fees. Breakfast buffet for two: $90. Room service: cost of the food plus $5 in-room fee plus 24% service charge. Even the hotel room has it: pay for a $300 room and also pay a $32 per night resort fee. It's so annoying. Just include everything in your prices.

Pretty pricey, but overall nice hotel. Room was very nice. A lot of different things for you to do. Did not interact much with the staff, but the few I did were pretty helpful and attentive. One downside you would think as costly as the rooms are there would be at least free continental breakfast.

Beds and rooms are very comfortable, and the staff were very nice. That said, dining options are overpriced for the quality, and the amenities (especially in the wintertime) made me question the $32/night resort charge. We may return, but likely in large part due to lack of any other similar properties in the area.

I was only here for one night and didn't get to enjoy the resort itself as I only used my room. The grounds are beautiful. The staff were second to none in hospitality. Everywhere I went was immaculately cleaned. The rooms are slightly dated and they could use an update to there TV system. They still have the scrolling tv guide believe it or not. I have come to expect a smart TV when staying at higher end hotels or resorts. The commissary was fairly limited as well. Of the 2 beds one was leaning I assume do needing to be replaced. The other was comfortable. Once they put a little money into their rooms this could easily be 4 or 5 stars.

I stayed overnight because of the delay of the plane. The high standard of the rooms, a very exquisite restaurant, and in addition you can go to a game of golf with a colleague. I will most likely visit this resort again when visiting the USA

The reservation process was great. They sent me text messages about my reservation and asked if there was anything special I wanted. It seemed that there was a real human behind the text messages. They also asked (and granted) a few things like a high floor, away from the elevator, and early check-in. They texted me when my room was ready. Great idea for a hotel and fantastic communication. The room was nice and clean but a bit overpriced for a Saturday night at $267 (including their $32 "resort fee" and the 14% tax). We only used the room, so the "resort fee" seemed a bit excessive to me for things I never even used. The walls were thinner than I would expect from a high end hotel and we could hear the casual conversation of the people in the room next to us. Overall a great hotel and a great experience but not worth it for the price I paid. Not using any amenities at the resort, I feel like the room was more of a $150/night room instead of the price I paid. I'd stay here again, but only if the price was much lower.

We held our wedding here. The venue was great; however, the aftermath has been an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I have had to dispute multiple charges with my bank due to Lansdowne charging me for services that were not agreed upon. I attempted to contact Lansdowne multiple times due to the charges and receive no response. We had signed contracts with the resort which they have completely gone against and are now charging for random fees and services without prior consent. I have had to keep an eye on my bank statement for months to ensure they do not charge me for services that were not agreed upon. It is extremely unfortunate. All of this has left me with a negative impression of Lansdowne. I will NEVER COME BACK here and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this resort to anyone.

Nice place for sure... but logistically they are a nightmare to deal with. I blocked for my wedding. They nickle and dime you at every turn, staff is less than responsive, in the middle of disputing multiple charges that weren't agreed upon, all while paying $300 a room. I have spent 181 nights in a hotel this year with Marriott, trust me when I tell you to simply stay away. Go for the food, golf, etc, but their lodging is simply not worth it. Steer clear of this place!!

The room: the room was fine. A very nice comfortable bed. The bathroom and was also very nicely kept. The TV was having issues with volume on multiple channels. Not sure if it s the service they use or my tv.

The grounds: very beautiful. Wide open spaces. Multiple places to walk around and hangout with friends. They have fire pits outside that you can site around. We also got a s mores kit and used it at the fire pit. The pool is also nice and large. I personally wouldn t waste the money on the canopy.

Where they lost points: they over charged our room by about 25%. It was the same for the two other couples we were with. They ended up taking it off but it seemed too frequent of an issue. The other major issue was the restaurant within the hotel. Undercooked risotto, way over seasoned chicken wings, undercooked calamari. Last part is we ran into one rude employee

The grounds were beautiful. Staff is friendly. Just didn't feel "resort-y" from the musty stuffy hotel rooms to the scavenger hunts one must go on to find bathrooms in the common areas. But what really got me was the underwhelming (perhaps inexpericed) service we received while dining. The food was a notch above average but when ordering steak in a resort-type atmosphere, the last thing I expected was tater tots as a side. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of them and they were quite crispy. But come on, Lansdowne... tots... really..??

Lansdowne is a beautiful place! I rented the deluxe suite with a few friends for a mini escape, the room was spacious and gorgeous. Great location with lots of shopping and surrounding wineries. They put a rush on getting the room ready when we arrived really, we felt very well taken care of! The continental breakfast was delicious, best $13 I have ever spent!! Highly recommend!!
