Thank you Joel.
You keep reminding us that God is for us. It helps to hear that, and was a huge encouragement for me this last Sunday.

Now that I've been at Lakewood awhile I thought I'd write and hopefully provide feedback that might help others, esp. if you're considering moving here to worship here, as I did. This church is helping me mature in my walk with Christ in many unexpected ways. The constant affirmation that God loves us supports me in remaining steadfast in faith and hope. This in turn keeps me on the path, doing the basics, following the Life of God and seeking fresh relationship with God daily through prayer and His Word.

What's unique to Lakewood is how this church promotes my going deeper with Christ while reminding me to enjoy the good things in life in a healthy way. Because there is such a cornucopia of events and fellowship opp's, you can get really anchored in Christ. That's when you start thinking about how nice it is to be alive, in a wholesome way. Truly at Lakewood I'm getting the foundation to discover how good life can be.

Learning how to connect at Lakewood is an art. I have come to develop loving, meaningful, supportive relationships with other committed Christians by serving and attending classes. If I am under attack, I have people who I can ask to pray for me. The results have been astounding, and I feel I've only just begun! There are classes every day, something for everyone. Serving and going to small groups was the key to connecting. If you just go to services, you won't have the same chance to meet like-hearted people. Plus there is a constant stream of visitors who are all in different places in their walk. Once I understood this, I stopped expecting to get things in the service that are available in hundreds of ways outside of it. Another thing to remember is that Lakewood Church serves the world. It's more than a local congregation. When you serve and get to know your local friends here, that's when you get the support and fellowship you need.

Unlike a smaller church, though, you can do as much or as little as you desire. There is such freedom and joy in this! If you are not comfortable with the people in a particular section where you have been sitting, just sit somewhere else. There's room for everybody here. I have a couple friends here who one might say are a little "odd", who have expressed to me how they never felt they fit in in other places, how they always had to worry about gossip and people turning on them. Here, there is a niche for them, whether in greeting or helping in other ways. We all need to belong, we all need to find our kind at the level we are at. This church beautifully and graciously serves that need, embracing everyone to the degree they wish to be embraced.

My boyfriend & I wanted to check out all the hype about Lakewood. It was completely worth the drive of 4 1/2 hours! Joel and Victoria did not disappoint us. And Lakewood, the church was fantastic. And the people were amazingly friendly & helpful... I was relieved to see such a group of believers together instead of a bunch of crazies. Jesus is Lord @ Lakewood!

While visiting friends in Houston, I found myself ...

While visiting friends in Houston, I found myself feeling "lost" and "confused" so they pointed me to Joel Osteen's highly esteemed Temple of Mammon, known as "Lakewood Church" officially and colloquially. While I can frankly state that Rabbi Joel Osteen is a very charismatic speaker, he did not remind me of any priest or pastor I ever met. Joel taught us about the One True God, Mammon. Per his sermon I learned that the bottom line of Christianity was something about mansions, Learjets, sports cars, and trophy wives... He was more like a motivational speaker.

After the service, I got a chance to speak with the good rabbi. We had a lovely conversation, partially in Yiddish. I did find his message baffling. I asked him, "is it not easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven?" I also brought up the Sermon on the Mount, and that time when Jesus Christ chased the moneylenders out of the Temple. He told me that those passages were entirely metaphorical, that the Christian churches lost and corrupted the original message of the Gospel. I might not be the foremost expert on Christianity, but I definitely had prior familiarity. (Dad's a Jew, mom's a shiksa, and I was raised Christian.) I asked him if his life and/or ministry were exemplary of Christian charity, and if he were concerned about accusations that he is a false preacher teaching a false gospel. He provided a solid rebuttal of sorts along the lines of "if it makes people happy." (Well, hearing about how Jesus wants me to have a mansion, prime transportation (i.e. renting a limousine to the executive airport where my Learjet awaits), and a hot trophy wife sure made ME feel happy!) Osteen justified his writings and ministry on quasi-utilitarian grounds. ("Hey, if it gives goyim hope and makes them happy...") Well then, Joel? All I have to say is, I hope you are able to sleep well... with your hot trophy wife in your mansion.

Great place for worship system or worship service

Great place for worship system or worship service
Good church
Just because Pastor Austin greeted him in the lobby
Feeling like a celebrity is bitter

Of course, there may be difficulties as a super church

Worship should give glory to God
It feels like a person is in focus ...

Hi Joel and Victoria Osteen will be here in Sunrise FL. on February 6 at Bank Atlantic Center, and what a shame that my daughter and I cannot enjoy her wonderful talk because we don't have the money to buy even the cheapest tickets that are $ 25.00. How much sadness this causes us, hopefully one day we can see it in a place where tickets are cheaper, we will continue to settle for watching it through Television. May God pour many blessings on you all. Blanca Zarran
