fairly clean but not anything special done with the grounds
Friendly staff, nice clean facility. Fun even in the rain
Awesome friend
Will return
Super clean campsite. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely planning a return trip.
There is absolutely nothing to do at this campsite. We rented a cabin the refrigerator was broken our food was spoiled, they say they have Internet free Wi-Fi it did not reach our cabin when I went and complained I was told it says you have a signal no one cared. There is no rec hall for the children to play, they have one tire swing 2 baby swings that's all nothing for the kids to jump on,no slides nothing. There is a broken air hockey table in the store that you can play or they have set up for you chess table with broken pieces or checkers. If you are looking for a place to take your family with activities and fun this is not the place to go it's like being in the Arizona desert
Staff is friendly and helpful, and the campground is clean. I'm rating it two stars because 1) the campground is laid out the most awkward way, clearly by someone who has never camped with an RV. 2) there is no grass to speak of for those of us with dogs. 3) there are absolutely zero lights in the campground itself so leaving you campsite in the dark is difficult.
Wonderful. Very helpful staff. Employees are fantastic. We were giving a tour of the camp grounds. Shown the inside and outside. Very polite and courteous staff. The general store has EVERYTHING. Family atmosphere, very clean. The playground is a little small but everything is neat and clean. Lots of activities to do. I will definitely be booking in the fall for next Summer.
A newer campground with great amenities that needs time for the nature to grow a bit. Fantastic when combined with a trip to Lake Compounce.
Clean, well maintained. Once trees grow it will be a great campground.
Great little campground. Very clean and well maintained. Customer service is top notch as well. Some down falls, no shade at all, should have left some trees once they cleared the land for the campground. Also, only one dump station and no sites with sewer which is a pain when it's check out time. That's my only complaint that would love to see changed. Two dump stations would be perfect. Regardless, we will return.
So many good things about this place, but sadly overshadowed by the ridiculous noise during the nighttime hours.
Pros:
*Loved the area where we set up our tent, lots of open space for our kids to play.
*Camp office/store was great, employees were very friendly and it was stocked with some essentials that we forgot about.
*Bathrooms were very clean, also offered laundry which definitely helped after a trip to the water park.
*Super easy transportation to and from the amusement park, we loved it there!
Cons:
*If you are going to present yourself as a family campground, why do you have quiets hours beginning at 11pm?! We came with three kids under the age of 8 years old and it was nearly impossible to get everyone asleep due to campers screaming, singing, and playing incredibly loud music until exactly 11pm.
*2nd night, campground sponsored dance party that began at 8pm and went until 11pm. The music and DJ were so incredibly loud you could probably hear it from miles away. This place seemed more like a cruise ship than a campground, super disappointing.
Hopefully they figure out the noise issues...want to love this place, but if you are looking for a great camping experience, stay away, especially with young kids that you want to get to bed before midnight!
Nice place
Lucky find!!!!
The picture speaks for itself....expanded city view...outstanding day or night :)
Some of these reviews make me wonder if we went to the same camp ground.
We had an amazing time at bear creek! We are locals and have 3 kids under 6 so we got a cub hut and it was adorable and perfect for us. Very small so basically only used for sleeping. There was a small tv, mini fridge and air conditioning which is all we needed. There was also a fire ring, two chairs and a table out side.
As far as for the kids. There were a TON of kids there. So if you don't have kids or are looking for a child free getaway I wouldn't go camping in general.
They had a ton of activities for them. Crafts, games dances the staff was amazing with them.
The bathrooms were very clean. Showers clean as well. You can tell they really care about the guest experience.
I agree that there could have been more at the park but most people go to lake compounce during the day anyways. I think it's fine for children to make their own fun every once in a while.
If you want/need a kitchen I would do a cabin but that's not really camping in my opinion. But would probably do that if we were staying longer than 2 days. We will definitely be back.
Always a good time here..love the ride to the park.
Great new campground. They will get the fifth star if they ever add septic hookup. Honestly doubt they will. This is a great place if you plan on visiting Lake Compounce. I personally would not consider this a week long place to stay. If you use your camper you will need to unhook, drive to the dump station and then hook up again. Campground itself is not wooded. More of an open dirt parking lot. Very clean. Very nice employees all around. Second year visiting and will continue. All sites pull through and face your neighbor. Great if you camp with friends. Kinda weird if you don't know your neighbor. They also offer Tee Pee's and cabins. Pet friendly.
This is not a camp ground! It's a party spot. Loud people nights on weekend. We had our AC on at night & you could still hear people playing music & yelling at 1:00 am. It's a big party spot on the weekend. There was Garbage on our site when we arrived. People aren't picking up after their dogs. Dog poop all over. No one seems to care about up keep other than the office area. The Play ground is very small. RV sites have stones & tall weeds. We couldn't tie down our awning. Our rug wouldn't lay flat with all the weeds & stones. There's a humming noise coming from waste plant next door near the tent area. The grass was difficult to walk on, it was in clumps & uneven. Management doesn't seem to care about what goes on here. People driving fast through the sites. The only thing nice about the place.... bathrooms "were" clean (until Saturday morning), the cabins, on the outside looked nice, tent sites looked a lot nicer then the RV sites. We will not come back to this campground!!!!
Very clean, the cleanest bathrooms I have come across at a camp ground. Free hot showers. The sites were a good size. I wish there was a pool or splash area for the children. But overall a great campground.
The camp site was clean and the price was reasonable
Great Staff, nice accommodations! Bathrooms were spotless.
Camp store should be more geared towards camping instead of a gift shop.
We had a family putting and rain. Bear Creak allowed us to gather under the shelter for our meals after their activities thank you
Quiet, clean. Good amenities. Were helpful when we woke with 2 flat tires due to bad valve stems
Campground was fine for a night, maybe a weekend. The check in in store is brand new and really nice. My main issues are that the RV site area is basically just a gravel large parking lot with no shade. Also, there is no sewer hook-up, only a dump station. This is fine for the one night we stayed there, but would be an issue for an extended stay.
Great local place to go. This is our families 4th year going to this camp ground and we plan on going next year to. We started out with 1 cabin, then 2 and next year we will be renting 3 with our extended families. It's a fun time at the camp grounds, (a lot of activities) and with just a quick golf cart ride from one of the camp staff members, across the Lake Compounce parking lot, you are having more fun at the amusement park. The camp ground staff members are friendly and very helpful. Example: Couple of my sons made friends with some of the security people and they played checkers with them in the camp ground store. The new manager at Bear Creek was very friendly and helpful (Lesa Gemmell) Who came to our needs and resolved them, when we had an issue with our cabin.
I didn't like the fact that there was no availability for cabin nd cub hut but then again there were a few that were not occupied the whole weekend.. so that makes me wonder if they are doing it on purpose so the camping area dont get full
We enjoyed our quick stay. Staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend!
We stayed in a cabin which was awesome! There was a small loft good for Littles and could sleep several. There was 2 twin beds (bunks) and 2 small rooms with queen beds. Full bath and kitchen. Kitchen has NOTHING, bring your own everything pans, dishes, silverware... Movie outside at night near the playground. Was a perfect stay.
Level, convenient, clean, no shade but its quiet, cant even hear the theame park
Overall a nice place, better than I feared considering it s attached to an Amusement park (Lake Compounce). We and a few friends did some tent camping which worked out well. The campsites were clean and maintained, the bathrooms and showers were clean, and there were activities. The above applies to the tent camping only. If I was speaking of the cub huts or the TP s they felt crowded to me and not too appealing. Another downside is there is only one place for bathrooms, at the general store. Though not too far we ended up taking car whenever had to go.
Aside from the negatives above it was a clean well kept campground with friendly and helpful staff. Would go again
This is the most upstanding campground our family has had the pleasure of staying at. We are here from Colorado on a Make-A-Wish trip for our 7yr old daughter and they have went above and beyond for her and our family! I would recommend this campground 100%!! They have the cleanest bathrooms too, which is a huge plus! I have been to many campgrounds in my life and most bathrooms are gross at best. This one was spotless the whole nearly 2 weeks we have been here. We hope to visit again next year with our family as long as our daughter is healthy enough still to travel again this way! I can't begin to say Thank You enough tp Bear Creek Staff for going above and beyond for our family! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!!!!
New campground. Great deluxe cabins > my family was very comfortable with the cabin we had. Other then the cabins, there was nothing to do on campground especially for children. The campus does have a playground buy they do need to upgrade at some point. When they have weekend events like the Halloween weekend, they need to market it more on site. No decorations were up and when I spoke with the manger on duty to give my thoughts on it, I disappointed with the manager was hearing me. It seemed that I interrupted the managers work schedule to hear ideas from the guests. The campground itself does have the potential to expend and be an excellent site but they need more activities especially for the kids when it rains because the only attraction that my family knew of was the amusement park which you can walk too.
very comfortable space for the family will be returning for more fun very soon
The place is brand new and some things are still being completed, no holding hook up yet, but there is a dump station, very nice, large pull though with lots of room, Great deals currently being offered, Take advantage of this Especially for the amusement park with the kids, up to 8 people same price, also offering one night second night free, Seriously you can not find a better deal, you can't go wrong,
Stayed here twice but only overnight each time. Very nice Campground, clean showers and nice laundromat.
We had a great time! The cabin was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. .. I hope they consider adding a pool or splash pad and bulking up the playground...
We only spend one night as we travel up north. It is quiet & everyone is very pleasant. We stop in every year on the way up & on the back. Always enjoyed our stay here.
We stayed 4 nights and it was a beautiful cabin. We stayed in a one bedroom cabin and it had a huge bathroom and shower, the kitchen had a fridge and freezer stove oven and microwave. we had air conditioning and a beautiful dining room table. the bedroom was nice with two beds and a sliding door for privacy. there was air conditioning which was really comfortable. the atmosphere was beautiful and our area was very calm and quiet while we were there. also there was a picnic table outside with a fire pit. the store was very nice with lots of offerings and the staff was very nice and helpful. the tram service was very reliable and the kids loved the ride up to and from lake compounce. we had a fun time there all week and it was easy and quick to call for the tram back at the end of our night. No complaints really that I can think of. the wifi was spotty but we were lucky just to have those luxuries when camping. and there was cable. we look forward to staying again soon and we recommend to anyone who wants to get away from it all and have a good time.
We only stayed one night. The store and laundry room was nice. Nice area to walk my dogs. Wish we stayed longer, didn't get to visit the lake.
This is a super clean family friendly campground. It could be even better with the addition of a pool, but it's a great place to stay while visiting Lake Compounce.
Too close to landfill. STUNK. Had to move my site. Staff was accommodating my move though. Was a week day in September no crowds.
Sites are very close together so no privacy, but fun, clean, lots for kids to do. We tried a tipi, to introduce our kids to camping; it was fun, though smelled strongly of mouse urine by the fridge area. Bathrooms maintained well. Other guests were friendly, also, over all a very nice location!
The worst, this isn't a campground, it's a parking lot with planted pines, and rockey, lumpy patches of ground to pitch a tent !there's absolutely no privacy!, like none! it's only OK if you're going to the amusement park for a few days and even then it's uncomfortable! A Motel be better, Did I Mention it's basically a giant parking lot with cabins, teepes, and patches of dirt if you want to pitch your own tent!, it's all out in the sun, no shade, except a few sites, there's a waste plant near bye that roars all night and day no activities for the kids , no swimming no fishing , nothing you'd expect from a real camp group, again this is basically a parking lot motel!! Period!! Sad really, Me and my family were very disappointed and felt like the web site is very misleading This isn't a camp ground. It's a DISAPPOINTMENT!
Friendly, level sites, quiet, big area for big coachs.
Good affordable camping cool addition to lake compounce park
Nice grounds, with lots of trees and grass. Great for a walk or play. The cabins are really nice too. Walking distance from Lake Compounce, which is an awesome spot to spend a full day.
I deducted my first star because they did not provide any blankets for the beds. Also, we had to take out our own garbage, but the bins were not conveniently placed near the cabins. We had to walk several yards to find them.
I deducted a second star because the Wi-Fi was not reliable. They had a note saying "first come, first serve" regarding internet access, plus instructions of "no streaming please". How is that even reasonable? I had to take my work with me because that's the only way I could take a vacation. It was slow at times trying to use the internet, plus I couldn't even stream a podcast on my phone.
Maybe the town is not properly developed to offer decent internet service to a group of people, who knows why. However, while I could handle the no blankets, and garbage removal issues, I couldn't get past the mediocre internet access.
Been camping here for 3 years and our family loves it! The only down fall is 1 employee named Lesa was not only rude but disrespectful. I personally have had problems with her since Mother's Day 2019.
A nice place to spend the night. We re traveling from a Lewes, DE to Prince Edward Island and this is a stopover along the way. This is our second time staying here and I d certainly stay again. They have nice large, flat campsites, private showers, an overall clean facility, a good price and a very friendly staff. They don t offer full hookup sites but that s ok and it s out in the open with little shade. With a few shade trees and a sewer hookup..., I d give it a five.
I went back this year, was not happy payed a lot of money for one week , with bad tv and know wifi , . This was are fourth time back. Bet we won't go back next year. We tried yo tell the people that runs bear creek all they said sorry what the hell is that, for the money they get you should get what they say you get. And you have to on hook and go dump you tank, not fun. Next you maybe we will go some place else . Sorry
Had a blast staying here. Tipie was great! And first time I ever got the very first parking spot a Lake coupounce in the AM!
This is a great spot to hang out and have some fun. It's a good place for the kids and a cool spot to party on the tent side. The staff is very professional and the grounds are well maintained. Lisa the manager is nice. The showers could be kept cleaner though.
The staff is SO nice and friendly! There are no shady spots, as it's all pretty new. The RV spots are gravel, not grass, have picnic benches, are pull-through, and have fire rings. Some fire rings have attached grill grates that swing open. The shower rooms are huge!! There's a shuttle that takes you to and from the amusement park. It's a very comfortable and convenient way to go to the park. Both last summer and this summer, we spent 2 nights, so we slept well the night before going to the park, had a relaxing breakfast, then hit the park for the day. After we were exhausted, we went back to the RV and had a relaxing night. There are also cabins and teepees you can rent. They are trying to build more, too. We're planning on going back again before the end of the summer.
Love this place. We go and camp out multiple times a summer. With the quietness of camping combined with the ease of going to lake compounce for the day it's the perfect weekend. We live 10minutes down the road so it's a great staycation.
This is the most commercialized bug infested campground I have ever been to. It was like they found every stick and rock and moved it out and then dumped a bucket of ants at every site. The entire camp is set lower than the surrounding land creating NO air flow so the area feels stagnant. They replaced regular trees with some kind of short pine tree, which offered minimal coverage to most of the camp, exposed to the sun and Super HOT!! The ground was sand, not dirt, so none of our stakes would grip . (And it wasn't like we could find any rocks to keep them in place) The weirdest and one of the worst parts was how their fire wood only caught fire if you used their fire starter. Bacon grease and lighter fluid didn't even work. And it wasn't just us who had a problem. However when we got the "worlds greastest fire started" for almost $6 the fire started up with no problem. (Almost like they seasonsed the wood with something that required their starter) on a positive note, the bathrooms and their grounds were clean, and the staff was nice. On the slim chance that we visit again it will not be to camp in a tent, we would only use their cabins, which looked nice and seemed to be the most popular. It would definitely have to be on a weekday or the off-season due to the roudiness. The tent sites NEVER even got 1/4 full, which is nice for seclusion but offers a hint as to the aweful tenting experience)
Three complaints and 1 kudo. 1. Just a couple hundred feet away, Covanta Energy Corp. burns waste material to produce energy. Their stack roars all the time including at night. Emitting God knows what. 2. Despite the fact that we were one of only two campers, we could not get any wifi access. 3. The campground is a parking lot. Camped here April 30, 2018. 4. The showers and bathrooms are the best I ve seen in two months of US camping.
What a great place! Great staff, clean and all pull through sites that are spacious. Store for small items and souvenirs on site as well as shuttles to the nearby amusement park. Teepees, cabins and tent camping space. The only reason for the 4 is the lack of sewer hook ups at sites. There is s dump station on site.
Awesome. I'm in a wheelchair and the Canon i got had ramp. VERY ACCESSIBLE. Loved it
Everyone in the family has a happy time and the kids love it. What about the fireworks this evening?
Very fun to go to with the kids they have lots of activities
Great family friendly experience. We will definitely be back.
Bed bug infestation in cabin 5! Its crazy I didn t read the reviews before booking this trip smh and it happened to us. but the company and staff was good to us they accommodated us and put us to stay in a hotel near by (double tree by Hilton ) Deeply upset but staff was very nice about everything. Wish I had a better experience. The theme park was great though.
I recommend just stay in the doubletree hotel and drive 2 minutes down to the theme park it s literally that close.
Stayed a weekend in the cabins..they are beautiful and cozy
What a fun place to camp during the summer. Located within the Lake Compounce park. It is located behind the big parking lot of lake compounce, just before you approach the parking booth. Rates are also very reasonable. They have many selections to offer, from a tent site all the way to RV Site. They also have many cabins to rent out. They have 1 and 2 bedroom cabins with aome of them ADA ( handicapp ) accessible. They also have what they called a Tipi ( imagine a tent built by indian tribe ) they also have a small unit with 2 beds and a tv, they called it a Cub. What I like about here is how clean their restroom and shower units are. They have about 6 individual shower units, plus the one inside the restroom too. They maintained it very well. All the grounds also well-kept. They offer a shuttle ride to Lake Compounce which only take about 3 minutes away. In the summer weekends they offer an activity for kids in their pavilion and every summer nights they also have a coordinated activity. Their camp store is huge and well stocked. Great family getaway.
Bear creek campground is a great place for families. There are so many activities and attractions. The campsites are clean and spacious and the tents, teepees and cabins are so cool. Right next to big theme park with roller coasters nestled in nature. My kids loved it. I would recommend making this campground a destination rather than a pitstop. We didn t have as much time to explore as we would have liked. We came in at dark and left in the morning but we did use the basketball court, the showers and the store. We had a campfire and hooked up our motorhome do the utilities. The price was fair and you get a lot more this campground than most places for the price.
Been here a couple times already, great campground, clean and friendly staff. Showers and bathrooms are well maintained. Playground is great and they added new games.
Great campsites, cable TV, immaculate bathrooms. Very friendly staff-just a terrific campground. Amusement park close by with lots to do
Loved the clean bathrooms. The lodge store had all items you may need or forgotten. The cub hut was great for a family of four. The ac was a definitive plus on the 95 degree days that we were there.
Great place to stay in the cabins if you are under 6'5"
One of the best campgrounds we did stop in our month road trip vacation all over the USA.
Customer services very friendly, clean location, and something realy important for us were that this place it is a true kids friendly.
Thank you very much.
Great and clean campsite. Facilities are super clean. Playgrounds and other entertainments are available for kids. The store has all items for full time. Small Campground but the best one. Closer to Lake Compounce is a plus.
My wife and 4 kids stayed in our RV for 6 nights. We loved it. Bathrooms were clean. Kids had so much fun going back and forth to the amusement park. The trolley picked them up at camp and dropped them off when they were ready to come home. For the little kids the camp had activities and dance party. It was a blast!
Just not my idea of camping. Expensive and generic.
