La Margarita restaurant and Oyster Bar Review

We thought La Margarita was perfect. My wife and I split a liter of the House Margarita & a fajita. You can tell that everything is fresh and good quality. Great atmosphere and friendly staff as well.

Another San Antonio tourist trap, overpriced but a must stop and see. Just have a margarita and some nachos and your pocket book won't get broken!

Excellent spot for quality mexican food. Everyone at our table was glad to be there. The staff was very friendly and kind.

Service was amazing but the food was not good at all. It's more for tourists that dont know real mexican food.

We sat in the outdoor section and just had drinks. Very friendly and attentive waiter. Drinks were made well. Great atmosphere.

The tamale was the diameter of a cigar. The enchilada wasn t even baked in enchiladas sauce so the tortilla was dry, and it was filled and drenched with queso cheese, which is not authentic. Half the crunchy taco was soggy. An overpriced tourist plate. Terrible Tex-Mex. The kind waitress is the only saving grace.

Great spot in the Mexican Market area. We first stopped at MI Tierra, but at 11:30 it was a 20 minute wait. LA Margarita had immediate seating. Great friendly wait staff, large menu and fast service. Try the Fiesta San Antonio platter for a bit of everything. Patio seating is fun, if it isn't too hot.

Good replacement for Mi Tierra! Excellent service and management.

The service is subpar, along with their house margarita. I ordered a special, Chile Relleno Matzlan, and the seafood stuffing tasted like the fish was spoiled. There are far better restaurants in this area to than this one.

Mariachi music and margaritas... No way you can go wrong!!

Terrible! The manager is TERRIBLE and the service is BAD! Worse experience ever!

Nice outside sitting for enjoying the atmosphere of the tourist shopping the vendors in the area.

Gross and slow
We unfortunately waited about 45 minutes for A table and then another half an hour at least for the food It was so gross we didn t even eat it. When we brought this to our waitresses attention she very hurried Lee said fine let me get this out of your way with no offers to fix anything or to see if there something else we might like instead. Thankfully we didn t at that point but it would ve been nice to at least have her offer. I tried adding hot sauce to it to take away the taste but the chicken was dry and gamey. Rice was dry n crunchy and tasted like it had been sitting out all day.
In all it was definitely a waste of two hours not to mention the money. I would never eat here again. The very least I would ve packed up the food to give to a homeless person on the way down the street

Sidenote, the mariachis were fantastic and super talented. Were more than happy to pay $20 for them to sing a song.

If you're in San Antonio for the 1st time you need to come to the market square and come and eat at LA Margarita. The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome the food is excellent with traditional Mexican plates and even some excellent selection of seafood. Great bar that serves up some great Margarita as and cold beer. A must stop if you're ever in San Antonio.

Definitely over priced for Mexican food. I mean food is ok but not delicious!! $12 - $13 for a breakfast chilaquiles plate, no thank you

Great location for Feista people watching. Standard Mexican fair plus oysters several ways. Need to make a reservation during Feista!

The restaurant gets really busy so prepare yourself for a small wait before being seated but the Mango and Raspberry Margaritas make the wait a bit more manageable. The outdoor seating was perfect in the winter weather and the food was excellent. Our server was amazing; even with multiple tables he never missed a beat and refilled our drinks in a timely manner.

Meh. Mediocre at best. Another San Antonio tourist trap. Always full due to the foot traffic in the area and no incentive to make a great meal. I would go elsewhere.

We sat at the bar with drinks and food and service and food was great!

Turning customers away 30 minutes before close on a Saturday night is crap when you're one of the last restaurants open in the area, what's worse is still having to pay for parking after you've been turned away .

Great service and good food. The chicken and beef fajitas are very tastey. Pina-colada were very good.

Very poor experience. I understand that there is an epidemic going on, but if you are open for business, you better be open for business. We should have been told from the beginning, if the menu was limited, not wait 1.25 hrs, to hear excuses. I'm very very disappointed. I'm a native to the area and brought in family after I bragged on the restaurant. As a small business owner, I would have not charged for such poor service and poor quality food. Probably not coming back.

Drinks were great food was cold i brought my co-workers there to experience a autentic Mexican meal it's was a very bad experience it use to be my favorite not anymore it was a lot of money I spent for cold dinners it use to be the place to go now I have to think about if go get drinks there and go eat somewhere else it wasn't even a busy day I have to say it wasn't worth the bragging I did before we got there ..

Food is good, the waiters n waitress have very nice personality

My wife and I were extremely disappointed with this restaurant. After being sat down it was a while before anyone took our drink order. Andres took our order, but once our food arrived he was never to be seen until we asked for the check. My wife's plate was fine but mine was cold and I ended up eating less that a fourth of the plate. When we brought it to his attention he didn't apologize or try to make things right. The only thing he said was here's your check. Need less to say, I won't ever be coming back to this place.

Food was good but not great. Had driven 5 hours mostly to eat here as I have in the past. Had to ask over and over for chips and salsa. I finally had to go ask other workers for silverware. Had to ask for water and was obviously being ignored compared to others near us. I wouldn t recommend going, surely wasn t worth the nearly $70 we spent for three people. Really disappointed.

The frozen margaritas (prickly pear was great) were great. Beef fajitas had good flavor despite the fact they were a lower quality meat. I would come back.

Salsa was excellent, friendly staff, reasonable prices.

This is in the market area of San Antonio we had lunch there on a Monday.There was a good crowd but not real crowded. We ate on the patio because we had a dog with us. There was live entertainment just across from the patio area where we ate.The food was good but not great.

Celebrated friends Birthday and were in back room. Service was surprisingly good considering the large party and time of day on Saturday. Food is always good and pricey.

Don't go anywhere else in San Antonio. Absolutely the best

La Margarita
Lunch was not good.
Very disappointed in the taste and quality of food. Didn't want to make a fuss. Just will not go back.

We sat on the patio for lunch with the cool air and distant music. The food was amazing and it is definetly a place to eat with your family or friends. If your looking to get some work done alone this is not your place. You'll get kicked out pretty quickly.

We came and had the fajitas for two. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, amazing food and we got a lot for our money!! Would definitely recommend and come again!

In my recent visits to Texas, my family and I like take a trip to San Antonio and this is always our first stop! I've had a great dining experience the two times I went. The staff are impressive and attentive, they can memorize your order even if you're in a large group. I thought that was cool. I love how the first time I went there, we had a Mariachi band play to our group and they sang/played so well! The food was delicious, filling, and came in fairly large portions. I can't wait to go back when I visit Texas.

Atmosphere pleasant. Chips were stale. Chicken enchiladas awful. Could not even swallow. Very disappointing. Service good

They have a very cozy atmosphere and the attention is excellent first level

Romero provided great service. Campechana cocktail was loaded with shrimp and oysters. Draft beer was ice cold. Only issue is they have too many tables crammed in there making it hard to get around.

When we got there we didn't attend after 15mins later waiter was good but food not to great need to work on attending customers faster even sitting out in patio im a waiter myself and try my best to keep customers 100% satisfy even if i make a mistake!

I am from Savannah, GA and these are the best margaritas I have ever had

Food and service were on par, I thought. I got the Seafood Platter which cost $18 and came with 2 shrimp, 2 oysters and 2 planks of fish -all fried - as well as some fries and a "salad." Considering I can go to Red Lobster, spend as much and get more, better food, I'm giving this place a 3/5 based on value alone.

Margarita at Market square is great inside is airconditioned the patio is cool and you can hear the music on saturdays and sundays Margaritas are great come and enjoy.

Mediocre food and service - definitely felt like a big chain restaurant that pumps tourists through...

Fresh seafood and unique sauce makes the food unique

Mexican food, mmm, super satisfying. cool place to meet and catch up with coworkers. the service was very helpful and welcoming. bring your appetite because portions are large.

Nice atmosphere/ Friendly Staff and Management/ truly a gem of San Antonio. Highly recommend you visit this establishment.
