I initially gave this 1 star - it was a terrible experience, but I complained (for the first time in my life for a hotel), and they compensated me, so because of their customer service I have increased this to a 3 out of 5.
As far as the hotel stay, it was filled with a host of problems, definitely the most memorable experience of the 200+ hotels I've stayed in in my life, here were just some of the problems:
1) Gave me room next to the hospital with ambulances making noise frequently
2) Lied about no other rooms available since a number of my colleagues checked-in after me and all got rooms away from the hospital
3) No heat! Amazing, usually not an issue except it was 30 degrees out and the room smelled really bad so I had to open the windows
4) Overcharged me - some random charges on my cc for water I didn't drink
5) Elevators broken, no elevator going to 7th floor - nice -although I don't mind walking some people might
6) 4-5 min for water to heat up for some reason - I can't imagine how far it had to be coming from to take that long
7) Alarm going off in room next door to me at 1 am (maybe this wouldn't be their fault - except the room was unoccupied - so going to have to say that's the hotels fault as well)
8) Fire alarm evacuated building at 7am (again not sure if you can blame this on the hotel, but who knows it's pretty old and a lot of stuff doesn't seem to work right).
Anyway I could go on, but let me also comment that the customer service was good and all the people I encountered were very helpful and responsive (outside of the one guy who lied to me about no other rooms being available).
Anyway, my colleagues all enjoyed the hotel and it is right on the river walk and the hotel did apologize for all the troubles and were kind enough to compensate me, so those are all pluses, but I had to at least write the review with all of these events so others are not completely blindsided as I was.
