L'AND Vineyards Review

For the second time I have visited this extraordinary location, not the hotel, but only the gastronomy, because I can charge my Tesla there as I pass through. But also to check the possibility of taking a few days vacation there. The food, which I was served there both times, was great both times, so very good, delicious, a small, but always fine selection of delicious dishes. What only works mediocre in both cases, however, is the service, and that applies to both resort guests and visitors like me. As soon as you enter the house, you have that unmistakable feeling that nobody is talking to each other and that nothing else is regulated with regard to business processes apart from the hierarchy. Until you have found someone who can tell you where to go, 3 scared people have walked past you without asking how you can help. When you sit in the restaurant or bar area, it takes a long time before someone comes to take an order. On average, after 1 hour, the food finally comes, which you should pay for immediately so that you don't have to wait another 30 minutes after eating. All in all a service disaster that went the same way both times. So I will definitely not come here to stay the night.

Stayed at this amazing hotel for our honeymoon. We were in a sky view suite and it was beyond words. The room featured private fireplace which the staff made, large soaker tub on private balcony and a retractable roof in the bedroom. 5 star experience!!

Space with great refinement very well framed with the environment. With excellent services and in general with best collaborators.

When trying to get into your site, I just can not. A squarespace page always appears. I need to get in touch with the hotel and it is not possible. Unfortunate.

My son s wedding was held here and there was not one thing that went wrong. The entire to night event was absolutely spectacular! The food was an experience of a lifetime. We had a ten course meal and it was exquisite! Every detail was paid attention to. The wine was delicious! I can not say enough about the accommodations the skylight suite is a must! The stars are amazing! The only item I m dissatisfied with is that we didn t stay longer.

I'd like to complain about the service but we didn't get any! If you enjoy being treated like royalty book somewhere else. Beautiful architecture and great surroundings but the service details are lacking. Needs a change of management. Oh and you're in the country so kinda prone to animal intrusions, however being woken up by a rat staring at me from the headboard of my bed? Not coming back in a hurry. Oh, and considering its a vineyard I didn't expect such underwhelming wine. Avoid the home brand red 2011. Never enjoyed a wine less than this one.

Rented the sky Suite package with massage and tasting menu at their Michelin stat restaurant.

Room is indeed spectacular and spacious although yes there is an abundance of cracks , television is very small (EU standard), and you can tell this complex is 6 years old.

The guest services were very attentive to us. So that wasnt a problem. The real problem was more the fact that they often run out of chairs near the pool, which is also infested by flies, always 2-3 on you at all times, grrrr

As for the restaurant, 8.1/10, good service beautiful venue, but food was frankly a little underwhelming, wine portions minimal, had to keep asking for a decent glass and not half glasses. Only one wine hit the right notes, and no, they did not offer us any tastings of their home brand.

The grass on the venue is also always wet, and. Not that many rock paths to follow.

All in all, id give it a 4.5/5. Cool venue, few more things could be done better, but you choose whether the 1050$ canadian a night is worthy.

For us the perfect place for the beginning of the honeymoon

It's a piece of paradise at one hour distance from Lisbon. The suites are magnificent, the surroundings are blissful, and the restaurant is worth the Michelin star. Loved the private terrace with the fireplace.
The staff is also very helpful and we felt pampered throughout the weekend.

A place to relax and enjoy life and nature at its best.

It is a great location and the structure is good, though the bathroom sink had no where to put products.
They are not maintaing the property well.
The bushes at the room are overgrown, you actually have to move them aside. The wooden floor is scratched.and dirty. There were lights not working at the room and the lights to the hotel were not working the first night, so we had to drive to dinner!
We ordered ice to the room that never came.
The food in the restaurant was very good, but not to Mich standard.
Staff in restaurant were very good in the evening.
Breakfast was understaffed, though food was good.

The hotel is beautiful! The architecture and decor. The service also very good. The room was very comfortable. The restaurant is good however I do not think it's worth going there if you have not stayed, because the menu I found basic compared to other restaurants of that level and price.

We had a wine tasting. It was very good. We were very well received. Very good explanations about the wines and the tasting process. The place is modern and design. It made us want to come back to stay at the hotel. I recommend.

AND Vineyards is a very interesting concept. The resort is made up of different living areas around a central node comprising the reception, restaurant, swimming pools and suites. It is possible to stay in suites, rent villas or invest in these new villa projects (this is a parameter to take into account).

We stayed 3 nights in a SkyView suite. That's a good average time there. The suite is very beautiful, the site architecture and the design (interior / exterior) are a real success. Each living area has its own style because of different architects but always with a lot of modernism.

We liked:
- The place because we like this concept,
- The suite with king size skylight allowing you to sleep while watching the stars, interior fittings and choice of materials,
- The swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) with deckchairs, parasols, towels,
- The calm allowing to rest,
- The starred restaurant which, in half board, is quite affordable and of good quality (choice of dishes, wine list, excellent sommelier),
- The hearty breakfast with smiling people,
- The presence of Tesla super chargers,


We didn't like:
- Vines present but poorly maintained and hardly any allusion to wine (although it is wine tourism),
- The flowers are like vines, that is to say dry,
- Presence of rodent excrement on the paths leading from the suites to the restaurant,
- The upkeep and degradation of certain rooms / spaces (eg: traces on the ceilings, finishes in the restaurant, stained armchairs at the bar),
- Details that break luxury like the vulgar box of cardboard tissues torn then hidden by a wooden box to hide the misery,
- The service, the quality of which is very uncertain. Not the observed slowness but when you ask for a drink from the menu to the person who replaces the barman in the evening and he asks you what it is ... the barman should be present during the day and evening in an establishment the same,
- The restaurant menu is too simple (if you stay on half board, more than 2 evenings, you will have to be imaginative not to eat the same thing as the day before),
- Some waiters who are sorely lacking in smile (come on gentlemen please!) Or others who may look down on you,
- No gym.

Overall the price / quality ratio is not fair. The establishment aims to be 5 * but there are too many points to correct.

The restaurant ... Without a doubt they have given him the star. Tasting menu leeeennntooo ... inconsistent .... Not even well executed. The chef, sitting at the next table ... Indifferent to what was happening in the dining room. I never dined so badly at a Michelin star.

The hotel was wonderful..it was.
Now they have started to build villas to make it a tourist complex ... They have gone wrong ... And there are the unfinished works ... The abandoned concrete structures between the facilities. Very sad.

Excellent site but lack of maintenance inside and outside. Good service, excellent food and great place to relax.

We stayed for one night during a less crowded weekday out of season. Service and especially the food were marvelous. For sure not the cheapest place to go to in Portugal, but worth every cent.

Amazing location, friendly and professional staff, our room is so nice it's ridiculous, the spa is excellent, and the restaurant made our entire trip. But don't come here; I want it all for myself.

Mismatched price-quality ratio! the suites need maintenance, have some degraded details, we were there 1 year ago and nothing has improved! Room service was careless! breakfast was taken to the room, the dirty dishes from the previous day were touched but not lifted!
When we requested a late check-out we were denied the possibility of it, we were told to be full and need the rooms at 3 pm, so we would have to leave at 12 noon! As if all the guests came in at 3 pm, in fact we just wish we had another 1 or 2 hours!
We are not homesick for returning it must have been the last time, it is better for less!

I really enjoyed the site. Excellent service, good restaurant and spa with great tranquility. It is true that some maintenance was needed even more so the experience is optimal.

This place is overrated . Vineyards seemed abandoned with all the grapes left to dry on the vines.It is quite expensive for what it offers

The hotel has excellent service, red and white wine, the room has perfect equipment, the restaurant must try, you must not miss it.

This place must have been gorgeous when new, but unfortunately has not been maintained over the years: landscaping is unkept (might be due to Covid19), but plants throughout are dying due to the lack of water (including the very hardy rosemary at the main entrance - how hard is it to add some water every now and then), broken glass lanterns around the property, mildew on floormats, rattraps in plain sight - there does not seem to be a lot of managment attention.

It's magic! The suites are real apartments ... But beware it's a concept open to families ... (tranquility)

Absolutely amazing from start to finish. We only stayed one night and I wish it could have been a week! The staff were very professional and friendly. We ate in their restaurant and it was magnificent, each course was spectacular. The spa was amazing and the pool and sauna were wonderful. We were upgraded to a Sky view suite which I would highly recommend as the Alentejo night sky is not to be missed. If youre thinking about booking, stop thinking and just book it :)

Rooms a little run down, lack of lighting, impossible to read, we asked for a candle, but nothing solved, the wire was so short that it was almost against the wall ... The same lack of light, in the room, with a gas fireplace ... Reasonable breakfast, but with difficulties in replacing what was missing, anyway, it does not seem like a five star, even more with the price they practice.

We had dinner there last night. The food was mostly good but our main courses were lukewarm.
I don't think I need to order dessert at the same time as my starter!!

Go ahead that we are talking about haute cuisine, and with that it should be compared. It is likely that in comparison to other normal premises, we are talking about a five-point Trip, but, as I say, it is not their field of comparison. Nice place, modern and with good views. I tried the long menu (105 euros without pairing) and although improvable, not bad. From the beginning an exquisite oyster and scallop, and in terms of the menu items, lights and leftovers, sometimes trying with little success a so fashionable acid game lately. From a few promising "roots" that were surprisingly good, to a rice with squid passed from Parmesan, through dishes that left you warm like pork pie. The closing with the beef tenderloin and the dessert chocolate did seem really spectacular to me. Good coffee, as the Portuguese are supposed to. Own wine by glasses at 8 euros excessive price for its quality.

We have come several times,
The service is still so slow, the rooms can be made at 4 p.m. or later (luckily we are not in summer!), The rooms lack of work
(joints, paints etc ...)

And above all never forget anything ... because You will never find it again !! (iPad once and the 2nd visit a swimsuit!) And when you call the reception to warn them of your forgetting .. they answer you that they will call you back ... but ultimately you have to call them back!
Just a cool place to rest ... you won't be bothered by her ghost staff! Except by the birds!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at L'AND for a night and dine in their Michelin-starred restaurant. From the moment a gentleman name Diego greeted us, we knew we were going to have an amazing luxurious stay. The unique architecture combined with the natural surrounding environment creates an amazing sense of tranquility. We did find the restaurant experience a bit on the expensive side, but then again.. it's a Michelin-starred restaurant experience. If you're in the Alentejo area, definitely consider L'AND.

A place in the middle of Alentejo with a modern design and absolute tranquility. The food in the restaurant is incredible, the prices are high but the quality and flavors are indisputable. The attention of the staff inside the restaurant is also impeccable. The pool area is the best. I consider that they have details to improve regarding the maintenance of the infrastructure and the attention in the bar near the pool, as well as the welcome tour.

Not as cool as marketed. Comfortable rooms and relaxing large pool. Location is okay but cornered by two busy and noisy streets.
Cheap materials (concrete as natural stone?) and slow service. Large terrace but only two chairs. Lounge chairs/beds not provided to guests only for owners. Dark bathroom.
Restaurant is overpriced and except for the nice trendy setting not worth to be visited. Breakfast okay but not to the advertised level, limited selection, tasteless juices and also very slow. Tables didn t get cleaned for 45 min

Everything, especially the atmosphere of calm and tranquility, the friendliness of all employees and the architecture of the entire space.

To improve: Pool bar service and availability of towels. In room 7, maintenance of the exterior doors, exterior deck of the ploung pool, absence of chairs in that area, the pool drain was damaged but it was possible to use it, the water was coming out but without much problem. Some cobwebs in the corners of the whole room, as well as the sky view window. Details that I only write them to improve and be even more perfect.

Amazing place, with a fantastic restaurant, staff are excellent, great pool, great suites, all set in the beautiful settings of a vineyard.

I went to a wine tasting here with 5 friends. We discovered the wines we were served at the supermarket for 12 Euros or less. A deceiving and low class establishment.

Some details of the facilities are in need of maintenance but the overall experience was very good. High quality of service of staff, SPA and Restaurant. Excellent architecture. Definitely worth repeating.

We stayed the first night in a very nice room, with good reception by the staff, wine in the room made by them, honey too, we had a small problem with the heating and the other day we were transferred and had a sensational upgrade. Good experience, very clean rooms.

4 stars and not 5 because even though the place is remarkable, a few small finishing flaws here and there mean that everything is not perfect. Be careful, this does not spoil the pleasure and the tranquility of the place, because it is really beautiful, but a bathroom door that does not close, or no staff present at the pool bar for example, keep my bill. to 4. For villas a little further from the swimming pool, a little guidance would also be welcome.
I nevertheless recommend a stay in this atypical and truly exotic place, perhaps out of season to have a slightly more competitive price which would pass it to 5 stars without any problem.

The hotel is set in the middle of a vineyard and is just a design masterpiece. All the concept is unique and we loved the dinner at sunset with a lot of local delicacies curated by the chef. The suites with the open sky was such a lovely and unique experience and the pool was the right spot to relax after exploring the surroundings. We loved it
