Fabulous. My girly pal and I dropped in here and had the long island iced tea then discovered the strawberry dream! These are better than SEX.
Ive been dreaming of these things for over a week and we are heading back next day off.
Every night 6-7.30 is fantastic for 2 for the price of one.
The barman is fast and professional I just wish he was a masseuse as well.

I'm sorry to say that I personally think this place has gone downhill, decent in terms of the cleanliness and look of the place .
I used to enjoy friday night cocktail specials back in the early 2000's and before, but the clientele has changed too - it's become substandard cocktails with nothing really unique. As for average patrons yuppie/emo is the word mainly 20 -28yr olds with emo haircuts (if you need clarification look for an image of the band A.F.I) but hey there IS a lot of them around nowadays I miss the 90's/pre90's Newtown :(

Was here the other night. was the best time i ve had in a while. Grace looked after me and it was a great experience. 100000% would recommend.

Terrible music, rude service, zero interest in providing mocktails/ non alcoholic options - that bit on the menu is a total lie

Delicious cocktails and great value specials on all the time. Manager is really lovely and always goes above and beyond - once gave us free drinks when our food was late and another time gave us free fries completely unprompted.

Quite possibly the worst margarita and old fashioned I ve ever had. Plus the place smells like a deep fryer upstairs. Hard pass.

For a cocktail bar I wouldn't say this place is particularly innovative with their cocktails, nor are they consistent. While two-for-one cocktail happy hour/s are attractive, it's really a hit and miss depending on who you get to make the cocktails. Sometimes they can be perfect and satisfying to drink (and exactly what they say on the menu), other times you'll get a disappointing watered down slushie. Staff also aren't there to chat or make you feel inclusive as they're so busy with making happy hour cocktails.

Decor is probably in need of an upgrade, and the mood isn't particularly attractive as you mostly get massive groups in there. Probably a spot to drop by early in the night then move on to funkier places.

One of the worst experiences I've had. Booked tables here for my birthday, and they had double booked everything... So we had other customers fighting with us, threatening us. We couldn't get the staff to look after us at all. It took us 50 minutes to get our first drink. I asked for a couple of Bloody Marys and I have to say... pretty much the worst I've ever had.. anywhere. It was just horrid. We could barely drink this stuff. This place pretty much ruined my birthday and that's all there is to it. Very bad!!! Will not be back.

I find myself always going into Kuleto's whenever I'm in Newtown, without fail . So cozy, workers are very friendly and great alcohol. Favourite is the Thai Iced Tea.

Because of Artdeco interior and roof top bar and reasonable cocktail menu but lack of beer and being very pricy is 4 stars.

Cocktails are fairly cheap, and have a daily 2 for 1 special, which definitely helps. Spread out over three levels with a bar on each, there's usually enough room to drop by and find a table with friends. The rooftop level is pretty hard to beat when you're having drinks in summer.
Unfortunately the venue.. and menu are getting a little dated. Well overdue for a revamp... hopefully one day.

Come here for the 2-1 cocktails 5-7pm weekdays and the rooftop bar. Otherwise everything else from the service to the drinks is overwhelmingly average.

Happy hour is the only reason to come here. Had food on top of happy hour the other day and no. All the frozen no.
Mozzarella sticks...frozen.
Fries...frozen
Supreme pizza...frozen.
Margherita pizza...not frozen, but it wasn't margherita. It was a cheese pizza ordered from the falafel place next door.
Get drinks, don't get food. FML

Nice bar, for late morning hrs ( after 2 o'clock), good hospitality, friendly staff, good prices.

Great service and atmosphere. Drinks are delicious! It s a relatively private area upstairs with a bit more privacy. King street bars are usually overrun with drunks, but this one seems to have a little less of the riffraff.

Head to the roof top! One of the best unknown views in the inner west!

Amazing place, here you can really find a good meal and have a good time with friends. Good food, especially sandwiches that have incredible flavor, always a good place to try new flavors. Very good service, the garcons are always ready to help you find the best snack for you.

This is a frequently visited spot for my friends and I. Staff are friendly, and during happy hour, cocktails are cheap and delicious. Only downside is how long you have to wait to get a drink

I have had far too many variable experiences at Kuleto's to rate it highly. Though the happy hour two for one seems like a pretty decent deal the service can become slow and the quality of the cocktails falls significantly. For example, I went here with a group of friends at around 6pm on a Friday night, waited 40 min for a Dark and Stormy which tasted 100% like lemon juice...Though to be fair, this was from the bar on the upper level, generally speaking the bar on the ground floor does tend to fare a little better.

My advice is to get here early and order all your drinks from the beginning, you may not get a second chance (if you were planning on having more than 1...or 2).

Cocktails are great value during happy hour (2 for the price of 1). The red corvette & the toblerone shake are my favourites! Staff have always been lovely to me also.

One of the great establishments in newtown. Although the ambiance may not be world-class the cocktails are. If you like sweet stuff, try the toblerone. Happy hour is (i think) until 7 on weekdays - 2 for 1 cocktails.

Paul was unprofessional and displayed a lack of integrity when we formed an agreement with him.

Solid cocktails, not amazing but you really can't complain especially during happy hour. Get yourself up on the rooftop if you can!

Happy hour is usually a bit crazy here-but also totally worth it. 2 for 1 on some fantastic cocktails. It's worth sticking around after happy hour though, as the rest of the cocktail selection is great too. Also a nice atmosphere to just hang out in.

This place used to be great but it has declined recently.

After waiting 20 minutes for service in an empty bar I ordered 2 Espresso Martinis which were disgusting! No coffee in them at all however they did contain Baileys which is unusual and when asked the bar tender he said it was to create the foam on top but I was assured we wouldn't taste it...

The drinks tasted like watered down Baileys with 3 stale coffee beans on top. A total waste of $36.

Don't waste your time here waiting to be served there are plenty of better bars nearby

I've had some good times here but to be honest the cocktails are thrown together (my espresso martini was muddy, coffee-flavoured water with a handful of raw beans thrown on top), the vibe is lacklustre and the staff showed no pride in their work

Kuleto's has been around for yonks and is still going strong. Their cocktails are by far their biggest draw card. Happy hour is a must as they aren't cheap!

Do not book any event through Kuletos, they are the most incompetently run bar I've dealt with.

I had the misfortune of dealing with Paul who took weeks to respond to basic enquiries and provided false and misleading information (in my case Paul initially advised that bucks party entertainment was allowed, only to change his mind less than a week out after deposits for entertainment had been paid).

We went for cocktails on the rooftop bar. It was a bit windy however that meant we were able to have the place to ourselves! Lovely cocktail made by a very flexible barman who even agreed to make a cocktail that wasn t on the menu!
Rooftop is smallish but very pleasant. We were lucky enough to have the sun shining and got there early and snagged a great table.
Had such a great time forgot to take photos. Will do next time!

A few people have posted about slow service, but that's definitely an understatement - went to the ground floor bar for a drink, stood in line for ~10 minutes. Friends ended moving the party to the middle floor, so we go up to the middle bar hoping we'd fare better there. Girlfriend jokes I should time it to see if it's a little faster - check my phone, wait in line for what feels like eternity - eventually get our drinks (the bartender had also snapped rudely at the guy in front of us for getting impatient, as the bartender was serving people who had come way after him). Drinks weren't overly expensive, which was good. Check my phone again - been waiting in line 26 minutes! Here's the thing - if you've been in a venue and gone straight to the bar, and it's been over half an hour until you've gotten your first drink? There's something severely wrong with the staffing levels at the bar. Very no bueno.

Edit: Follow-up review about ~two years later (10/2018) - got convinced to come here again (by the same friend - go figure!). Pretty much the same - 20/25 minutes for a drink. Barstaff is hit and miss, some friendly, some REALLY rude as indicated by other reviews.

Absolutely love Kuletos. Always make the best cocktails, the staff are lovely, and the rooftop bar is an awesome place to chill. Would definetly recommend

Cocktails are definitely worth it during happy hour. Check my photos as these drinks tasted great! While the downstairs decor and carpet is a bit dated, the rooftop deck is great and has glimpses over the CBD. Recommended.

The girl at the bar tries to justify the bad service.i paid for cocktails and i got juices twice.when complained, she left me with three options before she ran to her meal

2 no refund so take it as it is

This place has changed a lot since my uni days when I used to frequent there. It was dirty and understaffed. Waited ages for cocktails to be made. They didn't have a lot of the ingredients for their signature cocktails. The shot glasses were dirty. One cocktail came in a driking cup as they had run out of cocktails glasses. The carpet had fleas in it. The guy clearing the empty glasses from our table was clearly under the influence

Nice venue. Visited on a Friday evening with friends. Good cocktails.

Good cocktails that are reasonably priced. Crowd tends to be quite good as well

A decent assortment of classic cocktails made well, spacious seating and a nice little outdoor courtyard area on the roof make Kuleto's a consistently popular place for a few drinks. On busy nights it can take a while to get your order in so bring someone you are happy to chat with to the bar while you wait for the bartender to get around to you.

If you love a classic cocktail, this is definitely the place for you. Due to the amount of cocktails they make here, there can be a wait before you get your drinks, but they are tasty enough to wait for!

Nice enough place, staff are lovely, but the drinks are way overpriced for what they are and it feels like a bit of a messy pub when what they're trying to go for is 'cocktail bar'

Ordered two pies that took an hour and a half to appear. They were ice cold so we asked for them to be heated. The manager decided to wash every dish in the place before addressing this and an hour later and plenty of reminders the pies appeared. The bar staff were gracious enough to refund us plus two free drinks which was very lovely of them. Whilst eating said pies the manager reappeared again to very aggressively harrass us about the whole ordeal and was very rude. Very poorly run business, avoid ordering food if possible.

Really enjoyed Kuletos, upstairs has an open top with a view of the city skyline. 2 for 1 cocktails during happy hour. Bar staff are always super friendly.

Happy hour here is one of the happiest places on earth! Great selection of cocktails! Outside of happy hour, the drinks are a little pricey but worth the money. The roof top is a great place to spend a summer evening.

Kuletos is a fantastic bar in Newtown! Paul is a lovely guy, makes brilliant cocktails and really gives you memorable experience. I could not recommend this venue any higher!
