About Restless Development Uganda
Restless Development Uganda is a non-governmental organization that focuses on empowering young people to become leaders and change-makers in their communities. The organization was founded in 1985 and has since then been working tirelessly to create a world where young people are at the forefront of development.
Restless Development Uganda believes that young people have the potential to drive positive change in their communities, but they often lack the resources and support needed to do so. Therefore, the organization provides training, mentorship, and opportunities for young people to develop their leadership skills and become agents of change.
One of Restless Development Uganda's core programs is the Youth-led Accountability Program (Y-LAP), which aims to promote transparency and accountability in local governance. Through Y-LAP, young people are trained on how to monitor public services such as health care, education, water supply, sanitation facilities among others. They also engage with local authorities through dialogue meetings where they discuss issues affecting them as well as propose solutions.
Another program offered by Restless Development Uganda is Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) program which aims at promoting access to information about sexual reproductive health rights among adolescents. The program provides comprehensive sexuality education through peer-to-peer learning sessions conducted by trained youth facilitators who use interactive methods such as role-plays and games.
Restless Development Uganda also runs an entrepreneurship program aimed at equipping young people with skills necessary for starting businesses or improving existing ones. The program offers training on business planning, financial management among other areas critical for running successful enterprises.
In addition to these programs, Restless Development Uganda also engages in advocacy work aimed at influencing policies that affect young people's lives positively. For instance; they advocate for increased investment in youth-led initiatives as well as policies that promote gender equality.
The impact of Restless Development Uganda's work can be seen through its success stories over the years. For example; one of its alumni named Esther Kalenzi started a charity organization called 40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation which supports vulnerable children across different parts of Uganda.
In conclusion, Restless Development Uganda plays a crucial role in empowering young people towards becoming leaders who can drive positive change within their communities. Its various programs provide opportunities for personal growth while equipping them with skills necessary for creating sustainable solutions towards social-economic challenges facing them today."
