The kruger national park offers the best experiences for anyone that loves wildlife and looking for birds. There is a big variation of different animal and bird species. There is a lot of camps and lodges around and in the Kruger National Park like Lower Sabie, Crocidle Bridge camp, Sukuza and, or you can stay at the Kruger Hotel. There is also places outside the park that is still near the gates where you can stay. (Marloth Park).

Kruger Park offers the best selection of wild life...

Kruger Park offers the best selection of wild life and birding in South Africa.
On the down side you are unlikely to see as much as in some of the private reserves and when you do spot something worth watching there will soon be a crowd building around you as more and more cars arrive.
On the plus side it is still affordable and offers a wonderful way to experience the bush even if you do not own or rent a 4x4 bush vehicle.
When planning a visit, be aware that the authorities have recently introduced "free week" - you do NOT want to be there at that time.
Whilst the concept is great in that it offers underprivileged people the opportunity to view the game, the authorities do not control the numbers and it is thoroughly unpleasant queuing for 2 hours to enter the park when you have a reservation and to queue outside Skukuza rest camp for 20 minutes before you get through the entrance gate.
To have traffic officers controlling traffic at the river crossing outside Skukuza and having to reverse to allow large articulated buses to negotiate the turn is an instant damper on any bush experience.
That said, the birding never disappoints and for the 'twitchers' you can look forward to spotting around 60 species in the first day.

All you could expect and more. Never leave your car in the park but there are lots of rest areas, camp grounds, and pit stops. Sunset is phenomenal. Just make sure to enter the camp grounds before dark. They close them after sunset. Camping is more like glamping. Tents with wood floors, electricity, and cots. It's a great time.

Sad to see a place I love so dearly go backwards ... 95% of the sand roads are closed ... am guessing due to lack of maintenance ... staff are grumpy ... only camps that are well maintained are Lower Sabie and Skukuza ...

The park is well maintained. I was lucky enough to see rhino, giraffes, wild dogs, zebras, elephants and many other animals. I saw lion and two lioness from a very close range. If you are traveling by your own vehicle, then be behind the organised Safari. These drivers co-ordinate with each other to know about the animals.

We did a self drive of approximately 4 hours, entrance at the Orpen gate and exit at the Paul Kruger gate, exceeded our expectations! Reserve more time for this route because the park has good structures which we could not take advantage of due to the closing time (18h). We bought a very good map and it will already be used as souvenir. (I.e.

Kruger National Park in northeastern South Africa ...

Kruger National Park in northeastern South Africa is one of Africa's largest natural game reserves. Among the large number of wild animals it hosts, it is possible to name the "Big 5": lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffaloes. Hundreds of other mammals have made this place their natural habitat, as have various bird species (vultures, eagles and storks). Mountains, bush plains and tropical forests are all part of the scenery.

You really get close to nature.. And God, it far from civilization.. The Berg en Taal camp site is a friendly family oriented site. If u cannot afford a cottage there is an informal camp site for tents as well, so u don't have to break it bank balance.

Superb! Elephants by fifty giraffes want some here, some paintings are incredible. We have seen everything and sometimes at the same time, sometimes in the distance, sometimes at hand. I did not imagine seeing so many animals so ready. At the meeting also lions leopard herbivores and birds all kind. We had the chance to watch rhinos just before going out after 3 days.
The panorama evolves a lot according to the zone. Roads in good condition ok with a classic car. We slept at olifant (very good) and skukuza (not bad).
Must.

The park is huge and animals are plentiful but not necessarily easy to spot. We were lucky to spot big herds of buffalo, elephant and giraffe. Endangered animals like the Rhino was also plentiful. At night you here the sounds of animals while sitting around the camp fire. It is very special moments.

We had two great days in the Kruger National Park. One day with a guide in the popular Safari Pickup Trucks and a day with your own rental car. We saw a lot of animals and never felt that they were disturbed. The park offers so much space and only animals that do not feel threatened come near the streets. Above all, we saw elephants up close. Also, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes, empalas, warthogs, wild dogs, etc. We drove into the park via the Crocodile Bridge and can spend the night in nearby Marloth Park, for example. Muvradona Lodge, recommend. We can recommend lunch or break at Sabie River Camp. Very good food and great view from the terrace.

Wonderful experience to admire the animals in their own habitat, to admire them in their everyday life and in their movements. I recommend searching the pools of water, turn off the car and wait ... Although there is no animal, you will see that slowly come out ... Do not be discouraged!

The park began to use annual contraception in 1995, but had to leave this program due to problems in the delivery of contraceptives and the inconvenience they caused to the herds.

The Kruger National Park stores more than 48 tons of ivory. According to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES, for its acronym in English), the sale of 30 tons is allowed.

Stayed at Lion Sands and Sabi Sabi, both 12,500 acre lodges in the 2.2 million acres at Kruger. I actually was a little skeptical about how many creatures we would see and how close we would get. The eight passenger Land Rovers didn't seem to frighten anything, and we were right next to them. Saw four of the big five in the first of eight safaris; saw all of them in the days to come. A can't miss trip.

I went there for the first time with my mom on a self drive. It was such a great experience. The entrance fee isn't too steep and you really get value for your money, especially when you go there in the morning. Your chances of several sightings are increased the earlier you go actually. I highly recommend it and we would go back again. :)

Amazing

First visit for 20 years! Reception staff helpful. Due to a changed booking I didn't realize no fridge in Pretoriuskop rondavel. Went back to reception & though quite late they arranged a freezer for the meat & butter.
Saw quite a lot of game from Malelane gate to Pretoriuskop, including 3 rhino sightings, elephants, buffalo, hippo & the usual antelope. Highlight was seeing 4 wild dogs on the road outside Pretoriuskop. A first. Another highlight was seeing elephant swim across a dam & over a hundred buffalo come down the Lebombo mountains to drink in the river. Saw elephant, spotted hyena, kudu, impala & hippo everyday. No lion or leopard this time but saw dwarf mongoose for the first time. There were times though when we travelled & saw little.
We had a puncture & went to Skukuza where it was quickly repaired.
We also stayed at Letaba. Beautiful camp.
Thoroughly enjoyed our break.

The Kruger National Park is one of South Africa's best attractions. If you are lucky, you will be able to see the Big 5. You need to be patient and be careful when in the park. Remember that you are in the space of wild animals. Only stop at the designated rest points.

Always a great variety of animals to be seen. Quite difficult to get into the park in December unless you pre book and even then it takes 45mins to an hour to register and get in. Had a great time though.
