Koentact has been a wonderful learning environment. It has been loads of fun during class; learning, laughing, fashion shows, word games, social events, field trips, etc. They challenge you in many ways to learn the language which helps cater to several different learning styles. All the teachers (Josje, Iris, Tamara, Carlos, Marije) have been super fun and knowledgeable. Koen, the founder, is such a superb guy. He truly loves watching and hearing people learn Dutch. He's encouraging and thoughtful as well. You really feel at home and in a safe place once you're in the Koentact family. I highly recommend learning Dutch with Koentact.

Koentact is a great and holistic Dutch school.
They not only provide very good Dutch lessons with very well prepared classes and teachers, but also offer (included in the price) fieldtrips with a very interesting program that allows students to put Dutch into real life situations.
In adittion, they offer (without extra costs) workshops for the Inburgering exam which are very practical and to the point on how to prepare for the exams. I prepared with their material and did great in the exams.
I 150% recommend Koentact!

Koentact has done wonders for my dutch. I can barely believe that 2 years ago I couldn't even introduce myself in Dutch and now I watch Dutch TV with my friends without a problem. The teachers are fun, attentive and always willing to go the extra mile. Not only I learned about the Dutch language, but also about the culture and current affairs in the Netherlands, so I never feel left out when having lunch with my co-workers. Would highly recommend it for anyone trying to make their way (in Dutch) in this beautiful country.

If you re looking to take a Dutch language course ...

If you re looking to take a Dutch language course I would strongly encourage you to consider doing so with Koentact.

I set out to learn Dutch for my work (it isn t a requirement) and reviewed the list of language schools that are recognized by my company as Eligible Language Institutions. Koentact was listed as one of the schools that met the requirements for Dutch and I 100% see why.

Due to Covid, the classes were held online via Zoom, which initially created some hesitation on my part. As somebody who feels they learn better in-person, I was skeptical of how effective the lessons would be for me. After seeing how much progress I made in the first course, I quickly realized that Koentact s method for teaching Dutch is extremely effective. I have learned more Dutch over 12 weeks (Dutch Experience 2/Dutch Experience 3) than I had in 4 years of learning a language in High School.

The course structure and most importantly, the instructors, were absolutely outstanding. The method for conveying the information, as well as the topics that were covered, were effective and relevant to everyday settings. Both of my instructors were extremely knowledgeable, supportive and patient towards myself and my classmates. Their open-mindedness and encouragement created an environment that removed the self-conscious feelings that I ve previously experienced in trying to learn another language.

Rather than continuing to ramble on about how fantastic my experience has been with Koentact, I d encourage you to enroll in a course and experience for yourself just how enjoyable and effective their approach to learning Dutch really is.

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers who had a private intensive course for a week (30 hours). We are very satisfied with the course. The teacher Narin made us feel secure and comfortable to speak Dutch, and she was very good at adapting the course level to our different knowledge levels. The course was really in-depth, with repeating of the moments so we learned them thoroughly. The field trips were also very good for practicing what we had learned, to speak and understand, both with the people in Amsterdam and with the teacher. Also, all communication with Koen and his team before and after the course was clear, swift and nice. Koentact is highly recommended, both for the content, the field trips and the teacher!

I started with Koentact at the level A2, where you can say "hello" but not much else. Now, after 7 courses and 1.5 years, my level of Dutch has increased significantly. When I speak Dutch on the streets, Dutch people continue in Dutch - not in English.

Like many reviewers say, it doesn't feel like a classroom, the teachers are friendly, helpful, and flexible. They usually make sure everyone understands the topic before moving further, and they will answer any questions, even off-topic ones. I enjoy the classes a lot.

I didn't have the best experience on my very first course. The teacher was very slow, made inappropriate remarks, would talk the whole time instead of letting the students practice, and the group was way too large.

All the courses afterwards, however, were very nice and better organised, the other teachers were nice and friendly, the exercise was plenty, and the groups were smaller.

Unfortunately, you never know until the very last moment which teacher would lead your next course. I hoped very much that I don't end up with the first one again.

I am finishing the highest level that they offer, and, unfortunately, they don't have courses anymore. I'm sure there is demand: to practice speaking more, to become fluent, to advance to the C1-level. If they open one or two more classes for higher levels, I would definitely attend.

If you are in the midst of comparing different language schools, don t hesitate any longer ! I have always been rubbish with languages at school, and experiencing Koentact s super refreshing coordinators, teachers and program has been super encouraging :-)

I signed up thinking I would just try out one course, and I am now doing my second with Daphne (she s awesome, ask her to be your teacher !) The other students personalities are also great, open-minded, and willing to progress.

Veerle was an incredible teacher - the experience in a (virtual!) class was overwhelmingly positive. I was concerned at first with how learning a new language would be online, but I feel like I learned just as much as I would have in class. Loved the idea of using breakout rooms also to practice. Excited to continue with Koentact!

I've followed my fair share of Dutch courses in different places and can really say that the courses at Koentact have been both my favorite and where I've learned the most.

At Koentact you'll learn about grammar and rules but it's not the main focus. The main goal is to get you to speak Dutch and enjoy your time while doing it, even when you're hesitant and full of doubts.

The field trips are a great way of getting you out of the classroom and spending half a day speaking Dutch while getting to know lesser-known areas of Amsterdam.

At Koentact, I finally felt like I could have a conversation in Dutch. I'm still far from being fluent, so I'm looking forward to my next course!

My experience with Koentact has been so overwhelmingly positive. I only wish I had found them earlier! After just a few months of group lessons I was amazed not only by how much my Dutch had improved, which people around me noticed too, but also by how much more motivated I was to learn. The teachers are wonderful and patient. And the lessons are so fun and engaging that they are always the highlight of my week. (I m almost tempted to sabotage my own progress so I would never have to stop taking courses with them!)

Even aside from the classes, Koentact is such a warm community; there are lots of activities for students outside of lessons too, and the whole Koentact team is incredibly friendly, down to the founder Koen who is so personally invested in making sure every single student has a great experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Koentact to anyone who wants to learn Dutch at any level!

My first time with Koentact and I loved every detail. Great team! Plus; the additional workshops, field trip, the review classes, the civic integration exam class. What can I ask more!

The classes are interactive and fun. The ratio of everything is well organized. One of the best parts for me is that each course for each Koentact-level continues for 5 weeks. So as I am going into a busy period in my life, I will just give a break when I finish my current level and join the next level 5 weeks later without missing anything. Great opportunity for people like me who are not sure for committing to 6 months long courses.

Nice atmosphere, small groups. However, the content of the course was so inadequate. You need to attend 4 courses just to finish beginner level. Whole 30 hours course covered 4 chapters of the book! Most Dutch courses offer two-level system. What Koentact does seems to so tricky to me.Think twice before registration. Go on, if you like to pay 1700 euros to complete the beginner level!

When I first arrived in Amsterdam I was looking for somewhere to learn Dutch in a fun way and also to make new friends. I found Koentact and I was successful with achieving both my goals!! At Koentact, I was surrounded by like-minded people. The teachers were young and enthusiastic, and taught in a fun and interactive way. The field trips and various activities that complimented the classes helped to develop my confidence in speaking Dutch. I made some of my closest friends while learning Dutch at Koentact and am still in contact with one of our teachers!! The Koentact Community helped me integrate into Amsterdam very happily. And yes, 6 years later I now speak Dutch with many people!

I had the chance to won a free dutch course at Koentact at the free trial lesson in February and it was super! THANK YOU AGAIN!

The teachers and the all team of Koentact are super nice, professionals and with a lot of energy. Appart from the dutch courses Koentact also organized Field trips, a great opportunity to practice dutch with the locals, a time to share with all the classmate and the all team of Koentact.
They organized one per month the Amsterdam language Cafe,a time to practice all languages while you are dancing, sharing a beer and the best... making new friends!

I meet super nice people during my dutch courses, we were like a little family and our teacher Josephine is adorable!

It was really gift for me to start my new life in Amsterdam! :)

I really recommend Koentact to everybody who wants to learn dutch in a fun way!

Koentact is an awesome school for learning Dutch. I've taken a few courses now with different teachers and each time it has been great and exceeded expectations. I've learned a lot, had a ton of fun, and met a bunch of new, wonderful people. The classes are also focused on providing lots of chances to practice speaking which is especially helpful! Each course has a couple of nice field trips to explore Amsterdam and the Dutch language simultaneously. Check Koentact out, you'll have fun and learn Dutch!

I had a great experience with Koentact! I live in France and was able to take online lessons in the corona context, which was very convenient for me. I also joined an offline Field Trip in Amsterdam, which was super fun as I was able to meet my teacher Veerle and the other students!

My Dutch improved so much thanks to Koentact. The classes are very interactive, my teacher was great and made us work on listening, writing, reading and speaking. She took time to explain grammar and was always very engaging and encouraging. Online classes are a great opportunity to make a lot of progress without even having to leave your house! I would definitely recommend Koentact to anyone who wants to learn/improve their Dutch at every level :)

I took lessons with Koentact already at the very beginning (approx 8 yrs ago). It already seemed back then that this is more than just a school -with teachers who go beyond "just teaching". I recently returned to take advanced lessons at Koentact and although the school has grown (i.e. also became a professional & well established institution), the core of it still remained: you get an experience here, not "just lessons". Interactive classes, loooots of practice, field trips, after lesson drinks, whatsapp groups etc ...all there to make learning a language a fun experience!

To be fair, I was hesitant if the "Koentact essence" was going to be the same during the online sessions but it really was! I have just taken a one-month Dutch language course with Koentact, the classes are being held via Zoom at the moment because of Covid and I have really enjoyed the course and learned a lot in a very short time.
The group class is great and also provides some opportunities to talk to other people in these times of isolation. Most other people in the class were attending from the Netherlands, but there was also someone else from abroad, like me (I am based in Germany). I think they also offer individual lessons if you prefer that.
Besides the regular classes, the school offers great extra activities, fun workshops, cultural insights in the country, and the opportunity to meet amongst learners in smaller groups to learn together (online) in your free time. These extra activities are for free and the whole package is great value for money.
In terms of time zones, they probably have a solution for everyone even if you are attending the classes from abroad, because there are morning and evening courses (Amsterdam time).
Oh and my teacher (Veerle) was really amazing!
I had a great time with Koentact and I will probably come back for another course when I can!

Hands-down the best language school I have attended. The way the teachers explain Dutch is both very fun and very educational. I felt like my understanding of the language grew by leaps and bounds just with one intensive course so far. And I look forward to attending more language cafes and possibly courses! Everybody I met at Koencontact, from Koen (special thanks to him for setting it up) to my teacher, Ashra, to all the lovely people I met there both running the courses and attending, have been really wonderful people. They also support a school for Moroccan children to learn Dutch and have a big heart for helping others. They do great work and I highly recommend them!

My work colleagues and I took the beginner's course with Koentact and we greatly enjoyed every lesson. Our teacher (Feykje) was fantastic and somehow made learning fun :p The format of the lessons required us to attempt to speak the language from the very beginning which increases your ability to speak the language quickly and helps gain confidence to speak the language in everyday situations.

The fact that we did it as a group of work colleagues meant we were studying on our lunch breaks together and practicing our Dutch during work hours.

I can highly recommend the small group experience of this course.

I have been with Koentact for my A2 level and the teachers have been amazing and I really feel the passion of teaching in and outside the classroom. The teacher did her best to create friendly atmosphere in the classroom. We, the students were deliberately mixed around in the classroom all the time so that we could practise Dutch with each other while we were under the attention from the teacher. They also encouraged us to attend a bingo session with the locals in the neighbourhood one afternoon and it was truly gezellig and we got a chance to get to know and taste the local Dutch hapjes with the amsterdamers. Not to mention one of the students won the bingo and also all the bingo participants sang the birthday song for one of us too. And you imagine the rest! That s an opportunity to put what you have learned in the classroom into practice in real life, which is interaction with the locals. Again, well done Koentact !

Hi, I've currently finished my 2nd course with Koe...

Hi, I've currently finished my 2nd course with Koentact, and going on to the 3rd. Koentact asked me to share my experience and opinion so far.

It's hard to stay committed to learning a new language, here are a few things about Koentact that made learning Dutch less of a burden and more fun

The classroom experience. Koentact somehow manages to make learning a new language (after a long day at work) an enjoyable and fun experience. Even if you did miss something or failed to understand something, you can always do a catchup lesson at another time. The teachers are friendly, energetic and keep things interactive during the class. They are flexible with your attendance and time capacity. And if 2 classes a week and 2 field trips a month are not enough, they have open conversation 'Language Cafes' for you to join.

The multicultural environment. You will meet a whole bunch of people with different nationalities, backgrounds, ages, personalities and time living in Netherlands. You learn of their experiences while studying Dutch and maybe even make some new friends.

Field trips. This is something which stands out. The field trips organised by Koentact gave me an opportunity to try out what I learn during class, with Dutch people (who are usually very friendly to slow down and talk to you, even if you walk up to them on the street with broken Dutch!). The field trips are also exciting because you will always learn something new about The Netherlands, the city of Amsterdam or the Dutch people. Its kind of an integration exercise in a practical sense. The most important thing about the field trips is that it forces you out of your own fear of speaking in a foreign language to a complete stranger.

Beer. Koentact seems to like beer and having a fun experience. A lot. You will find yourself in a cafe or bar more than once.

That said, I would definitely recommend Koentact to anyone wanting to learn Dutch. They teach Dutch in a social and practical environment, which is why we learn a new language, to communicate.

I've been to many language schools in my life but Koentact stands out!

Quality of the courses are quite good. Only after a few courses we were able to make sense of a lot of Dutch materials around us, from public transport to supermarkets. Koen, the founder, pays a lot of attention to keeping the quality at a high standard.

Besides, there are many entertaining activities in each course, from field trips to meet-ups which is an excellent opportunity for newcomers to make new friends.

Other staff are also super nice and helpful. Class rooms are big enough and have all the necessary equipments.

Daphne, which I believe no longer works there, was such an amazing teacher! But thanks to the field trips we got to know the other teachers as well, and they all seemed to be very enthusiastic about their job.

What a wonderful place to learn Dutch! My first experience with a formal foreign language class in many years was fantastic. I really appreciated the director (warm, welcoming, encouraging beyond measure), my teacher (fun and funny, thoughtful, thorough, knowledgeable) and the school (great location that I love visiting anytime). I was quite intimidated by the whole Dutch thing, and they put me at ease, while helping me make great progress in a week. I have passed my inburgering (all six parts) on the first try. I am SO grateful I found Koentact, and I can't recommend them enough. My boyfriend and I have been working with one of their private tutors (Anna), and she has absolutely exceeded our expectations. I originally called and talked with Kyra at Koentact and explained our eager enthusiasm to get started with a program ASAP; Kyra was super helpful in walking us through all of our options and even custom options that included having a tutor come to our house. She found us a tutor that met our preferences the same day; and her follow up via phone and email was perfect! I really appreciate her attentiveness.
As for our "docent" Anna... we are so fortunate to have connected with her. Anna is an absolute joy to work with... we are actually working with her for 1.5 hrs per day, 5 days per week. But despite the "rigorous" schedule we have committed to, Anna is so super smart and talented, she makes the time fly by! Each lesson is different, perfectly engaging our levels and our energy while challenging us to continue to learn at the pace we've said we wanted to; and she customizes our homework to make the learning process fun... she has been very understanding accommodating our preferences related to COVID-safety since she is coming into our home each day, and she even has been so sweet to our two dogs who like to bark and/or cuddle with her during our lessons :)

To the Koentact team, especially Kyra and Anna, dank u wel!! And for anyone who is considering language lessons, I can't recommend their services enough :)

I did 3 courses in a row with Koentact (Evening Class, 2 x 2.5h per week).

Their method works pretty well with me and I went from no dutch to 'i can think in dutch' in 25 lessons (~3 months).

It might sound a bit expensive, but if you really want to learn dutch in a soft way (5 hours a week) - you might give them a try.

Also they have field trips every 2 weeks:
You have the opportunity to practice dutch and know better Amsterdam's Neighbourhoods.
Despite the simplicity of the idea, I found it extremely effective learning-wise and definitely enjoyable.

Overall, advised!

I have never been good at learning languages. Sitt...

I have never been good at learning languages. Sitting hours in front of my grammar book is really not something for me. I figured we are actually many in this situation! Koentact understood this as well.
In fact, the learning culture at Koentact is very unique and based on these two principles: learning should be (1) interactive (a language is made to communicate with others) and (2) fun (we never learn better as whilst enjoying it). And it really works!

Every new grammar rule is put in practice via discussions or games, so we can practice it in an interactive manner, which makes it easier to remember. The pool of teachers is young and inspiring. Always available for extra exercises, it is often that they adapt the class to the group s specific needs and requests.

Working full time, I can only attend the evening course. Despite being obviously tired from my long day at work, I have never regretted a single class. Every single one of those was worth it!

So, if you are still hesitant, don t wait any longer, and just go for it!
Good luck!

As most of good things in life, I found out about Koentact from a friend. "The teachers are highly motivated and always keeping a fresh and hands-on approach on how they teach you Dutch", she said. "You don't feel that you are in a classroom, but together with a group of friends", she continued. "What's even better, you get to know the Dutch way of living and thinking, and you expand your horizons by getting to know fellow students from all around the world - Koentact is more than a language school, it's an experience"... So I went on and subscribed with their program. I can say with no doubt, I was never disappointed - all the right boxes were checked, once I've started learning Dutch at Koentact.
Now it is my turn to recommend Koentact to any expat, no matter what is their level of Dutch. If you want to learn Dutch the right way, you must go Koentact style!

This was only possible because of Koentact.
Koentact courses doesn't only teach you grammar, but they also give you a great insight into the dutch culture, which as an expat makes you love Netherlands all the more.
I would also like to mention something about our teacher in Koentact. Anne was not a teacher, she was like a friend, which made the course all the more interesting and fun.

Koentact would definitely be my first contact for learning Dutch :-)

And the founder (the "Koen" in the name of the school is his first name) is warm-hearted, well-organized, and a great person. I highly recommend!

During both courses completed with Koentact I noticed the results immediately. My reading improved with each lesson and previously random word orderings in DuoLingo made sense. The field trips are immersive and highly valuable for real time Dutch speaking.

I just completed a DE1 course with koentact. Our teacher was Philline. It was a good experience overall. Philline was very friendly, patient and eager to help us. The environment was interactive, fun and flexible. I am giving it 4 stars only because the course it's slightly pricier. They divide the A1 course into DE1 and DE2, so one needs to pay more than other courses to get to A1 level. But perhaps it's not possible to jam too much content given they are through and focus on development of every student.

If you want to learn Dutch quickly and efficient, Koentact is the best place to go! The teachers are very engaged and there are extra curricular activities where you can practice your Dutch with your co-students.
I had an awesome time at Koentact and am still in touch with teachers and co-students - and of course I also learned to speak Dutch, which I now use on a daily basis in my job!

I recommend Koentact to all the expats willing to learn dutch in an easy and quick way as I did during two years at this amazing school. Teachers are all friendly and knowing, and the focus at the classes is done on developping good communicational skills while integrating to the dutch culture and traditions. Thats why every course includes not only the "academic" studying in the class, but also field trips and parties ! Great atmosphere and great results!

This has to be the most fun way of learning Dutch. Koen's friendly approach along with our teacher Narin's enthusiasm made this a very interactive & enjoyable learning experience. In particular, my husband and I enjoyed the Field Trips, which was great to meet locals and other students, and really ignited his desire to speak Dutch outside classes. We highly recommend students to join these trips. Be aware, despite all the fun, YOU still have to knuckle down and put in the effort to progress and gain a basic understanding of Dutch.
Dank U wel

First I tried one small school, after I tried 1 one 1 class, and then I found Koentact. :) The fun way to learn Dutch, with really nice professors, with Koen always around with a smile, with Field trips that (besides Dutch) teach you about the culture, the history and the curiosities of Amsterdam, and with a very Dutch way to finish every course: a borrel with bitterballen.
Veel plezier!

Koentact is more than just a language school. It is a unique experience where you have fun finding out about Dutch customs and making new friends in addition to learning Dutch with total support from lively, enthusiastic teachers.
Sitting alongside the classroom lessons there are field trips which are well thought out to give you the opportunity to practice speaking Dutch with the people in the streets by asking fun and interesting questions about Amsterdam and the Dutch culture.
Koentact encourages a strong social environment. On my beginners course our class soon became good friends. This removed our inhibitions to speak Dutch together and we had some good laughs along the way, helping each other as a team mates.
I would recommend Koentact not only as a great place to learn Dutch but also an opportunity to make some good friends from around the world.

Learning Dutch with Koentact is super fun. The classes are small and very interactive. All the teachers I've had so far (Josje, Marija, and Iris) have been done an excellent job explaining the grammar, giving examples, answering questions and encouraging interaction.
The field trips are a must as well. It's a great way to meet other students and put your knowledge into practice. I would HIGHLY recommend Koentact if you are looking to learn social dutch in a fun and supportive environment.

After a couple of courses with Koentact, I needed a fast track to passing the inburgeringsexamen. Koen found a fabulous tutor for me, and after only a few intensive coaching sessions, I took all parts of the exam on the same day - and passed all of them! Many thanks to the wonderful people at Koentact!

I am currently following my 4th course within Koentact and I just love it! Their motto of "learn Dutch the fun way" is totally correct. The (online) classes are dynamic, fun and full of content. You have a lot of space to talk and improve your speaking but also learn grammar in an effective way. The teachers are super enthusiastic and well prepared. Even with a busy routine, the classes are something I really look forward to do at the end of the day. Personally, I felt a big difference in my confidence to speak Dutch after I started at Koentact. Within my first month of lessons, I felt way more independent in the usage of the language (written and spoken). All in all, a great language school, with amazing teachers and staff that genuinely care for a fun learning experience!

Textkernel has been working with Koentact since 20...

Textkernel has been working with Koentact since 2017, when we have approached them with a request to provide in-company Dutch classes for our employees. We have been working together ever since offering multiple groups on different levels three times per year -- altogether over 35 of our employees have learned Dutch, always to their greatest satisfaction.

Koentact' teachers are always methodologically superb, very well prepared and ready to infect the students with their energy and passion for Dutch language. The intake process and group division is smooth, and contains both written assignments and a personalized call from the teacher to establish the students level. The lessons are highly practical and focus on giving the students the courage to speak the language as soon as possible. Monthly field trips organised by Koentact round up the learning experience.

Koentact' office itself is extremely flexible and ultra responsive when it comes not only to planning but also changes and adaptations.

Textkernel is proud to recommend Koentact as the school for learning Dutch for companies.
