I purchased the Knoll Bertoia Asymmetric Lounge Chair chair after years of sitting in a relative's vintage Bertoia chair. We purchased it at the New York store sale in 2007 and were surprised when it started rusting only a few years later. It wasn't a little rust but so bad it stained the cloth covering the chair--and won't let the children get near it. We live in a brownstone with steam heat and find it hard to understand how a $6k chair can be made from something that can rust so quickly. We brought this to Knoll's attention and was told because we bought it "on sale" they would not stand behind the warranty. I wondered how does buying something for a few hundred dollars less change the fact it was made so poorly--where was it made China? Moreover why would a company with a reputation like Knoll void a warranty for something that clearly is so poorly made? So buyer be warned...Knoll furniture looks good but the quality is worse than pottery barn...more like Ikea. Very disappointed.
