No cover charge amusement park! Buy tickets as you go. And they don't expire so you can use them again next year if you don't finish the book. A mom and dad can take a kid for a full day of fun and only pay a third of what you would pay at Hershey park (if adults arn't getting on rides) We went on a rainy day, and lines were not bad at all. Food was ok, not cheap but better priced than a normal amusement park. There was an arcade, we didn't check out, and a place where you can "pan for gold"
We bought the biggest bag of dirt (about 30$ but there are smaller cheaper ones) kid spent about 15 min sifting the dirt through a strainer, with the help of a kindly old prospector (who was manning the water way outside their museum deducated to coal and mining) 30$ well spent! 11 year olds, even ones adicited to tech and Netflix, like getting there hands dirty to sift dirt through running water. And wow did we get some cool stuff out of the prepackaged bag of dirt. Chunks of purple crystal, fossilized clams, tube worms, a hand full of birthstones, and a really amazing obsidian arrowhead were all in the bag.
