Great for learning about the history of South Texas ranching.
Great for learning about the history of South Texas ranching.
Tour was amazing. It's a must do if your down this way.
Was an awesome to learn about the history of the king ranch and go on a tour through the ranch and see all the old equipment the used.
Hope it will be hold held onto for many years as one of our Texas treasures
Wonderful place of Texas cattleman's history. Gigantic size ranch.
Great tour and history. Don't miss the reporting times, though, or you'll miss the tour.
We took the Ranch tour, which included a 30-minute video about its history. It was all very interesting and informative. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful!! We enjoyed it a great deal.
Ladies personable. Didn't act as tho they were doing you favor. Good selection of gift/souviner items. Books also available
The tour is very nice & informative. The triple crown winner, Assault, is buried there and you can see his headstone along with the other headstones of their special horses.
Great fun to visit and learn about this historical place.
Place steeped in history, the tour is quite informative.
A lot of history is there a very friendly and professional experience in the area. Place for animals bird's and wildlife
Much more interesting than I thought it would be. Make sure to watch the video
The trip did not meet our expectations. We thought in advance that we could watch the cowboys at work, or at least show such a show. We were driven by an air-conditioned bus through the ranch, ter tour guide stopped everywhere where there was nothing to see. Where there was something to see (Texas Langhorn, herds of cattle, herds of horses, ranch house, etc.) was not stopped, there we just drove by.
The trip was good to see it all, but you do not necessarily need it.
OK but nothing special. Admission is a little pricey for what you see ($20)
Great history of South Texas. Tour bus was good. Need some older guides with first hand experience of the ranch. Make sure you visit the saddle shop and museum while you are there.
Amazing the tour guide was really nice and i saw alot of wild life
BEWARE..Even though the Google WEBSITE and BROCHURES say they're open 7 days a week THEY ARE NOT. (closed Sunday - Tuesday). In our case we drove 50+ mile out of our way. The people we spoke with at tbe ranch were to rude to boot.
Loved seeing the animals on bus tour. Somewhat difficult for us to understand the Texas accent when air conditioner was on in back. I'd suggest sitting towards front of bus because when the sun hit our side of the bus, we really appreciated the air. Also, when people up front answered the drivers questions, we couldn't hear them. Perhaps the driver could repeat the answers when he hears them. That would be helpful to those in back. Great guy and great tour. Missed video and did not pay extra to see museum:(
Amazing and interesting! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Well worth the tour.
The ranch itself was great but the tour guide/bus driver was awful. People were sleeping on the bus and she kept repeating herself. Dull dull dull.
Expensive and only about 10 minutes worth of stuff to look at.
Was there 15 years ago and the tour was great. This time the driver / narrator wasn't informative enough. Too much talking about fences trees and trivial stuff.
King Ranch employees that drive pickups around the Austin area are very bad drivers. They putz in the passing lane (10-20 *under* the speed limit). And when you try to pass them they died up really fast and try pushing you off the road. I will never give them my business.
A great Texas experience. History cowboys, nature and lots to see.
My expectations for the price were high. Now I'm pretty disappointed. 20 USD + tax for a bus trip ... Only get out briefly. Too bad it's organized like this. The museum costs extra.
Well worth the time. Tour was great, driver well informed, and very bubbly. Learned a lot about King ranch, if we come back this way again, will do the tour again.
We were invited by our friends to the tour. But we imagined something more underneath. For example, that you can see many more animals or that you can watch the cowboys at work, but unfortunately that was not the case. Pity...
Great place to visit, the tour is worth it and our guide was very informative. Definitely worth it
Very disappointed in the ranch and the bus tour. Not worth the money for tour.
Amazing history, wish we could have gotten of the bus and explored more but it was still a good stop.
We visited as part of a bird tour. We saw a green jay and other birds of South Texas. The King Ranch is a working cattle ranch of over 800,000 acres. The ranch also receives income from quarter horses, eco-tours, and hunting. Worth a bucket list trip!
Have family does was born & raised
In king ranch....
& work....worked....
RETIRED from the ranch....
We loved our King Ranch tour. Our tour guide Lois was very informative. Great place to visit especially for families.
Interesting bus tour of original ranch, our tour driver was knowledgeable and interesting.
Great place to enjoy history of this place and how Texas is about ranching, farming and a way of life in the ol' days..
Interesting tour of main area. Saw lots of horses, cattle, deer, turkeys & a couple coyotes. Guide was knowledgeable & informative. Tour does not go into ranch house.
Tour was 1 and 1/2 hours and all I heard about was fences and watering holes. When we finally got to the facilities (barns, houses, shop) it was in the last 10 minutes and we couldn t get out or even STOP. The tour is way overpriced and we heard the same information multiple times. You could get more information from the pre tour video than you could the actual tour. Don t waste your money or time. Also the bus A/C was terrible and it was hot
Very disappointed with the tour and experience...
I booked the tour for 5 family members visiting from across the country seeing that the reviews for it were good. I thought it would be a good way to show off Texas and it's old heritage but I was sadly mistaken.
The tour guide we had I believe her name was Jane, super sweet old lady but this is not the job for her. She completely put us all to sleep with her voice, then proceeded to wake us up with her brick for a foot on the brake pedal everytime she touched it. I'm not trying to be rude by any means but she repeated the information numerous times just going in a circle and I dont think she knew she was...
I would have liked to be more entertained for paying over 100 dollars for a tour, especially for it being as long as it was. I do hope in the future you do change up the tour and its guide because I will not be stopping by again nor recommending it to other until then.
One final statement as well, with all the money this ranch does make they should put better a/c in the bus because it was over 80 degrees in there...
And that gift shop still looks like its stuck in the 1990's... Updates needed for that whole experience.
Save your money and watch a YouTube video on the ranch people.
Use to be free, now its 40.00 for the tour for two. We looked at a post card. A lot cheaper.
Bit boring tour. No access to the main house and not even a small photo stop. Pity!
Jim's knowledge was integral to the success and enjoyment of our tour through the Norias area. And that little parrot is adorable.
A perfect example of a working ranch. Friendly people who personify the spirit of the founders. What a magnificent legacy!
The history, quarterhorses, cows and long horn amazing
Great place to hear about history of Texas and the King ranch.
Last fall (2013) I purchased an expensive saddle rack, had it shipped to CA for christmas for my brother in law and he opened it and it was wrecked from shipping, someone obviously dropped it. I called King Ranch and they said they would take care of it. I have now called three times, emailed several more times and still have not gotten a response other than 'were checking on it sir'. Their customer service is down right a lie and fabrication, ineffectual, and no one should purchase products from them as they cannot provide even the most resolution action.
The President of the organization should be fired for not providing adequate resources, management systems, qualified staff to resolve issues clearly created by those they hired and used for shipping, customer service and quality control.
I do not often choose such a course of action but they have left me no choice but to shame them into action. This is the first of several other social media posts that will reflect their lack of senior management capability. Certainly not a Texas business worth considering, King Ranch.
Interesting history and impressive ongoing business
Disappointed in what little we saw. Sure could use more open areas to view. One thing pops to mind is the mansion itself. That would have been nice to tour. And why was the original home torn down? That was part of the ranch's history and should have been preserved. And having heard so much about the King Ranch horses/cattle it would have been great to get to meet at least one creature face to face. Guide had a great story to tell just a shame we couldn't see more of it instead of having to visualize.
I've been showing horses and cattle for the Ft. Worth stock show and rodeo for nearly 10 years. I love King ranch animals and leather goods. However, the tour of the ranch was extremely underwhelming. We were not allowed to exit the tour vehicle for pictures or see any of the quarter horses. We were only allowed to the the main house from a very far distance. The tour guide mispronounced almost everything, she was very uneducated. She wouldn't shut up about birds, I'm sorry but I don't care about birds. I drove 7 hours to see cattle, horses and big game. We also had a small couple from Germany with our tour that wanted to see longhorn, they don't care about birds either. There are too many tour packages, I just wanted to see the horses and Santa Gertrudis! I didn't get to see any of them :( this whole trip and tour was a bust! I would've paid more money for a better tour that was more inclusive of everything. I am so disappointed by King Ranch and their employees. ~Kyle
Super overpriced for what the tour is, an hour and a half sitting in a bus, listening to a man speaking nonstop in a monotonous voice and with any interaction with the cows, horses, cowboys...you can't get out of bus to see the animals or take closer pictures. Dont waste your time and money.
I have always wanted to see the famous King Ranch and I was not disappointed!! Awesome tour!! Will be back!!
Wonderful place for cattle and horse lovers. Nice people working there.
I'm a history buff, so as long as there is something that is old, score.
When you add some historical relevance, big score.
But if you add in rattlesnake signs, well that's just awesome
This is and interesting place i just didn't have enough time. This ranch is over 825,000 plus acres largest in the world. Cattle ranching deer hunting and more it is a place you would like to visit
Very pleasant visit. Took the 1.5 bus tour the driver was very knowledgeable. Stopped in places to allow photographs.
A truly unique and exciting place. Not to be missed if you are interested in Texas history.
We took the 1.5 hour tour, but it went on for over two hours. The bus driver was the tour guide and for those of us sitting the second half of the bus, it was not possible to hear her or figure out what she was talking about. There was so much side talking towards the end that we were just looking out the clock to get off the bus.
Great place to learn about Texas history. I've been there once, that's enough.
Disappointing. Was closed the day we stopped but no advance notice in any of their literature.
Almost feel asleep on the tour. Guide was pleasant enough, alittle on the monotone. Was expecting more cattle/ horse action such as rounding up the cattle. Great history lesson. Wished we seen more animals but maybe wrong time of day. Overall it was nice to understand the operations of a ranch.
This was really neat to see and do. I wish thedriver would've stopped so we could take good pics but otherwise very interesting
Awesome ranch in Kingsville,TX
5 Stars
In honor of this ranch is named one of the complete sets of P ikapov Ford F series
The bus driver....Tour guide did an amazingly awesome job!! She definitely knew her job....Knows the family history. Stopped for us to take pictures of animals. Well worth the time & money to go on the tour!
