I've been to Kin Khao twice now and both times have been fantastic experiences. For one Michelin star, the food is reasonably priced given Michelin's bump. The waiters were also fantastic and descriptive in cocktail and food suggestions.
Westerners cook Thai food, called 3 dishes wild 2 dishes, boiled and hard to eat, vomiting a single 100 dollars, it is so amazing, why this restaurant can survive, than the haha laugh and so on Wild lazy to translate, reviews are more than Chinese
The food tasted OK, but way too greasy and salty. Service was good and the place had interesting photos and postcards adding to the nice atmosphere, but the food could be better.
A very good thai restaurant at park 55 hilton. Casual but quality of food and service are very good.
Kin Khao is GREAT. First time coming here and the entire experience was wonderful! Great people, great service, great food! I will definitely be spreading the word!
I don't recommend the mushroom ho mok terrine mousse appetizer, it is too runny for me. The chicken rice is very good and the sauce is unique and precisely on point.
All the dishes we shared were all so delicious. Although we didn't notice any typical Thai dishes (pad Thai, Tom yum soup, etc), we still enjoyed the creativity in the recipes. Only downer was that they wouldn't seat us until our whole party was present, which I understand for large groups, but we were a four top, waiting for the 4th to arrive. Would've like to enjoy some cocktails and appetizers at our table while we waited.
Taste of foods and presentation were great. Nice ambient too.
Service was good. If you go there one person you can sit at the bar table or shared table without waiting. Food was delicious and the waiter brought me my order in a few mins. Portion was decent but price was on the high side. I spent 60 dollars including tips for an entree and a soft drink. It is a Michelin one star restaurant.
This may be one of the best deals in San Fransisco! A $65 prix fixe dinner at a Michelin starred restaurant gets you 9 delicious courses of some of the best Thai food in the Bay. I'm also happy to say that unlike many other Michelin restaurants, you will definitely not leave Kin Khao hungry.
Each dish is wonderfully spiced and packed with flavor. The highlight of our menu was the pork belly. Stewed to perfection, the meat can be cut with a fork and positively melts in your mouth.
Definitely a gem in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
Wow. The food here is excellent. It's attached to the hotel so make sure that you enter either from the hotel lobby or from the side door facing the street
The seasonal tasting menu was stunning. This is the type of Thai food J want to eat all the time. The Nam Tok and stone fruit salad are two of the best dishes I have ever had.
The most outstanding Thai in the City. The concierge at Four Seasons sent us and we don't regret it.
Good food but definitely not unique or tastier than other Thai restaurants, so I wouldn't call it Michelin star worthy. Options are limited, but cover a good range of foods.
I was torn about whether to do 5 stars because most of the dishes were off the charts delicious, especially the vegetarian items and the dessert. We got the tasting menu w 8 courses and the only weak spot was the bland, heavy beef dish near the end. The vibe of the place is more bustling and informal than other Michelin star places I ve been (kind of refreshing), but folks w mobility issues might not love that the restroom is out in hotel lobby, a trek.
Great overall experience; drinks were great and some dishes were stellar!
The one Michelin star is well deserved; we were very well taken care of, even as walk-in customers. We got the bar seating and it was great. Bartenders were experts, helpful and nice. Some of the dishes like the ceviche made us OOhhh and Ahh with delight - when you respond that way to food and flavors you can't wait to eat more. The only dish we didn't think was that great was the mackerel curry; would still rate it 7 out of 10; excellent fish, but the flavor of the red thin curry was not hitting the spot for us. The sticky rice was sooo good, could have eaten that just alone. Staff was cordial, informed and very helpful in advising on wine, dishes and so on. Not the place to go if you are looking for cheaper Thai food in large quantities. If you are in that mood, SF has plenty of other options for you. This cozy eatery is there to delight and challenge your palate. Can't wait to eat there again!
This could have been really good...but it was SO spicy!! I know this is a very subjective sense, but my boyfriend and i have a pretty high spice tolerance and we were sweating through the calamari and curry. Not enjoyable. The noodles were fantastic and so were the asparagus, but I would not come back! Ler Ros and Krua Thai are much better and less $$. However the mezcal cocktail I had here was delicious. Would return for that. Try this place at your own risk -- maybe we just caught the chef on a spice-aggressive night. Who knows
It is unlike other Thai restaurants with different and more authentic options. The food was delicious and the flavors were splendid. They had a lot of vegetarian options as well. The service was great and our server gave great suggestions and also explained the dishes really well. The vibe of this place was fairly modern and open. This place is a little distance away from Powell BART station.
