I had a great experience here as a solo diner, but the size of the plates is not very friendly is you are rolling solo. I went with what I guess is a common recommendation of the squid and the pork belly, which was a great suggestion. The squid was perfectly cooked, nicely firm to bite without being rubbery, and the sauce had a nice vinegar to it (but could have used a bit more spice) which balanced out the absurd richness of the caramelized pork belly. The only problem was that it was way too much food. The pork belly was four large pieces, which I could only eat two of, and the squid was a very large bowl, as well. Definitely go with a party of 4 so you can share and try a few things. The bartenders were also really friendly and recommended PCH and Trick Dog to me for cocktails, both of which were awesome. It was not too bad getting a seat at the bar for just me, and I met a really nice couple sitting next to me, but definitely get some reservations if you go with others.

Suggested spot by two local friends, who joined us for dinner. Checked in, ordered a bottle of nice sparkling wine, and waited out front. Seated in the time frame suggested by friendly host(s). Popular spot, and no surprise.
Staff were great. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was well presented, and delicious. I'll look forward to returning again next time I'm in San Francisco.

Came for lunch and had a blast! The hostess up front was super nice and the food and drinks was delicious. Service was quick and efficient. We sat at the communal table. My only complaint was that the papaya salad was super mushy.

The place might be a little over hyped. The food is delicious, but there aren't many vegetarian options without garlic. They customized an order with beans and Bak choy, but that's about it. If you like garlic and love meat, you'll probably like it.

This is the best Thai food I ve had in the US. Flavors are explosive. Creative and innovative yet traditional flavors. Amazing drink selection. Friendly staff. Always a quality dining experience.

Generous portions and delicious entrees. Great service. Family style is the way to go. I loved pretty much everything that came out. Celebrated a birthday here! Great ambiance, company, and conversation.

I am honestly not sure what the big buzz of this place was. After a few tries, finally made it in, however, the fusion style of cuisine is far from a typical Thai, which does lose the authenticity and flavorful tastes of Thai food. Pretty disappointing for the amount of reservations and waitlist they have on a daily basis.

I found this place to be clean, friendly, fast, and the food was super fantastic. I don't agree with the one star reviews, not sure what might have ruined their experience here but I found it quite nice and tasty.

I ate at Kin Khao while visiting San Francisco. I arrived right at 5:30pm when they opened (without a reservation) and got a seat at the counter right away. Within an hour there was a wait. The Lamb curry was spicy but amazing. Brown rice (ordered separately) comes in a big metal pot. The cucumber salad was delicious, full of fresh herbs, and refreshing.

I ate here on Friday, April 11th. I ordered the Khao Soi as my main meal. I had very bad food poisoning the same night. This is the worst food poisoning I had in my life. I noticed yesterday that someone else reported food poisoning from the same exact dish the day before I ate here.

Sometimes you don't have time to fly to Thailand, I get it, you are busy. Lucky for you, Kin Khao delivers authentic, spicy, delicious thai food right here in SF. Try the Pretty Hot Wings, these jewels of chicken are glossy and tasty in a fish sauce, garlic marinade and pretty spicy tamarind and Sriracha glaze. All of the curries are said to be great. I recommend the duck. This bone-in duck curry is spicy and sweet thanks to the addition of pineapple.

Also a Tom Yum cocktail!

Right. Probably the tastiest Thai food I have ever tasted. The Black Cod curry with sticky rice was pretty amazing. Everything tasted phenomenal. Very understated and relaxed environment. Highly recommend.

Fantastic Thai food, closest to the real deal than most restaurants. Spicy, tangy, fruity, and so on-y. A rainbow of flavors. Lower your expectations around decoration and ambiance though, they call themselves an eatery. Fast service and super friendly waiters.

Wow. Best Thai food I've ever had! We were driving through the area on a road trip and got lucky that this place was open on a Monday (it looks like it is normally closed). The chicken satay appetizer was phenomenal and the Pad Thai was INCREDIBLE. My husband got the green curry and he also enjoyed it! Fantastic food at an unbeatable price - so glad we stopped!

Just for the TROUT alone this is 5 star! I was raised in Montana. I love trout. Simple always seems best...until this creative approach. This is the best I have ever tasted. Smothered in some unknown lemony. tomato sauce it was juicy and still firm. Everyone loved my dish. The others enjoyed noodles which they also raved about. I avoid the carbs. Service was just adequate ...it was late lunch. I would go back..but I am afraid this review will sell out the trout.

If you like to drink coffee you are warned that it is strong/was strong here! From drinking the coffee here my husband went to ER, his associate had to go home and of course I had to see for myself... and felt an uncomfortable rush with my heart racing.

The menu changes... Having been here several times I can say the food here is always consistently fresh and flavorful even though the portions aren't large.

This was an amazing Thai experience. Their curry was delicious and wholesome and the pudding is the best dessert I ve had at any Michelin restaurant. Also extremely modestly priced for a Michelin restaurant. Highly recommend.

terrible place! i usually say you can't go wrong with thai... seems it's possible... 1) they welcome you telling you laptops are not allowed at table... Clarke confused on what a restaurant is and how it is used as a business meeting 2) the yaowaraj noodles are so so... a piece of chicken was just clearly reject from chicken... notr south a Michelin star 3) then they were uniquely pushy once they thought you should be done eating. again not really understanding what a business meal is! you can't mis the not do double data that they try to get you to pay and leave... 4) and you pay $33 for chicken noodle worth at best $13! i do not recommend at all and i have spent heaps of time in Thailand. this place sucks, food wise and service behavior wise. avoid!

Very good Thai food! The flavors were fantastic - we ordered the curry mushroom spread with rice crackers that was super favorful (a little spicy but the kind of spice that you keep going back for more), we also had the octopus dish that was SUPER spicy for me and maybe my spice loving husband (but he ate it all!) and the vegetarian version of Yaowaraj Noodle (which was perfect for my mild palate). The workers were all super friendly and th place was hopping with customers the whole time!!

[Service]: We did order other drinks, but the lady was dying from spicyness and still wanted water. We got water after four dishes in, thanks to team work from the waitstaff.

[Food]: I hear you like spicy, so I put spicy in your spicy. Know what you're getting into. Also know that it is not a traditional take on thai. Ordered the prix fixe, plenty of food for two if one of you are not bodybuilding. The pork belly was delicious. Blue flower limeade was okay, as was the thai arnold palmer.

[Decor]: Table was an average size. Don't try to order too much at once.

[Atmosphere]: A little on the louder side. Good to come here with friends for drinks.

WORST. I'm not kidding. Finally got water after waiting for 10 minutes. No privacy since different tables are extremely close to each other. We had to share a table with another couple THIS WAS A DATE. SMH. Ridiculously overpriced and not delicious. Seemingly tiny portion and unfriendly atmosphere. After another table left, we left as well. No more reason to stay.

I m Thai. I think the restaurant is rather fusion-styled than authentic. I tried Khao Yum San Fran which turned out not quite my taste. Small portion of seasoned rice with some veggies and pickles at side which costed me $21. I tried this one as other dishes seemed more expensive. Would love to try other dishes next time. Good service and friendly staff. Good cocktails.

The food was ok. Really left you wanting more. After we received the first few dishes, we decided we wanted to go somewhere that actually served Thai food. So we asked for our check. The waitress said no problem and was very nice but then the manager came and asked why were leaving and what was wrong. I politely said we are just ready to go and he would not accept that. Kept asking and made us all feel very uncomfortable. Would not suggest. The place across the street, old Siam , was so much better. I d you love authentic Thai please try!!

This place was amazing. My husband and I went for dinner and got the friends and family menu so we could try everything. The dishes seemed small at first but we soon realized it was more than enough food. Our favorite was the mushroom curry mousse, the pork belly, and the rabbit green curry. The food was inventive while keeping rich and authentic flavors. Everything was cooked so well and paired wonderfully with our drinks as well. The Thai tea ice cream at the end was the perfect finish.

I love it here!!! The people are so nice and the food is so good! Plus it's right down the street from my work so I can call and they have my order ready for me. I also haven't been in there ever when it's been supper busy. Quick service, great people and tasty food! Spicy noodles at a six is my favorite. Pad Thai at a 7 was really good as well!

The food at this place was great. Too bad the service was awful. When we showed up, they asked us if we could finish with an hour an half. Seems perfectly reasonable, if the kitchen doesn t take an hour to put out main dishes. An hour an fifteen minutes later, we re told that they want to be sensitive to our time as they drop the last two dishes on the table along with the check.

This place is proof that Michelan stars mean nothing. Go somewhere else.

This place is great! Every dish is different, a lot more authentic that everage SF level, and darn delicious! I enjouyed every dish and every drink. We had a party of 4 and had 4 different dishes: one appetizes, some sort of mishroom carry paste, superb super bright spice squid, very savory caramelized port belly and a beef curry from the last section. Food was impressive! Loved it! Gonna go there again. Will try to have at least 3 people to try at least 3 things.

First of all we aren't used to eat Thai so we did not recognize all the dishes so we needed some explanation. We got some advice and were able to choose three lovely dishes. I finished our lovely dinner with some fine Arkansas Applejack brandy. I recommend everybody to eat @ Kin Khao

Kin Khao was very disappointing, with overseasoned and uninspired food. Some dishes came close to being good, but nothing really hit the spot.

The main issues for me were the following:
1) The flavors were very strong, but did not come together very well. Instead, everything was just oversalted.
2) The charred beans and the charred calamari had an artificial smoky flavor to them. I couldn't tell if they used a smoke gun or not - but they both had a distinctly bad flavor. No, it wasn't one of the spices or the fish sauce - I like those and enjoy them.
3) The tasting menu was noncoherent, just like the flavors of each of the individual dishes.

I would highly recommend NOT coming here.

Mixed feelings. The venue is awesome and the staff is attentive, but the food is rather Thai-inspired and the selection is limited. Nevertheless, my overall experience was great and I want to come back and try some more.

One of my go-tos for visiting foodies. Everything on the menu is creative, complex and delicious. Your waitstaff can help you pick. Drinks are fabulous and creative (I think their bartender has won awards recently) and the prices are very fair. Love KK!

Heavy rain today, take the cable car into the city in the morning and go to eat Colibri's spicy chicken wings, go shopping to hide from the rain, take the tram to Coco to drink milk tea, then go back to the city to eat Michelin one star restaurant Kin Khao, it is difficult to eat, all the dishes are Salty, only cocktails are good, we are constantly washing our tongues, not like most restaurants in Vietnam, Thailand, Thailand (you know that every time we go to Southeast Asia, we are doing a good job of high praise. Restaurant), the last time I felt like this horrible cry, I still eat Song Qi in Monaco. The Chinese people who know this are ugly, and foreigners say that they are delicious Chinese restaurants. I just want to say that I really can t listen to the opinions of foreigners. Asian food [ ][ ][ ][ ]

The food was unique and tasty but a bit expensive for the quality when compared to Lers Ros. Really enjoyed the chilli jam clams, mushroom hor mok and "pretty hot wings", which tasted like Thai buffalo wings. The rabbit curry was good but not sure what the hype was about. It was comparable to a very good Thai chicken curry.

My main issue is that starter dishes started around $10 and mains were $15-$25. However I think you get equal quality from Lers Ros for 2/3 the price.

It's a good place for a different take on Thai food. Worth trying if you are in the area.

I was pretty impressed with Kin Khao overall.

I was pretty impressed with Kin Khao overall.

Everything I tried here so far was pretty good, including all the cocktails, but no dish stood out so far. I was pretty disappointed at the portion of Plah Pla Muek as you can see in the picture.

I can't wait to come back to try more items, specifically the pork belly and Khao Soi.

Giving 4stars for now, might bump to 5 after trying more menu items.
