Steep and deep, great place to ski for the advanced skier.
I've been to a few big ski resorts but nothing compares to Kicking Horse. Drops are so steep that I never thought I will try, but I did and I'm hooked now. The terrain is mostly for the advanced-expert skier ,not a place to learn how to ski and definitely not a family resort.. Food is average, no village, just a couple of Pubs, kids get bored easily.
One BIG MINUS is the capacity of the gondola and lack of chairlifts with only two serving the whole mountain and another one open only on the weekends and very slow.
That's where a star goes, otherwise perfect terrain
This is the best hidden gem anywhere in the world. Absolutely compares to the sheer beauty of the terrain and the availability of green to off piste runs directly from the Gondola or Stairway! More of an advanced skier mountain but decent for most ski levels. An absolutely must visit!
Wonderful place to visit! Great views
Wonderful staff.
The views from the top of the mountain is stunning!
The grizzly sanctuary was the BEST!! Boo was in fine form. Staff very friendly. COVID-19 protocols in effect
Great mountain, awesome views, small lines but is expensive.
Hands down favorite mountain. The terrain is complex and interesting. There's always new things to discover
Great resort for easily getting up to some steep stuff quickly. Very vertical mountain with riding on the east face. Amazing views, and well staffed.
It is an up and coming resort. You must visit Boo the resident bear who has 20 acres to roam
Spent a great morning with Boo and on top of the mountain after lunch. Our tour guide in the morning told us much about the Grizzly Bear program and the life of Boo. Made the day.
Incredible skiing. Expert level. Beginners - not for you!
Nice place. Clean rooms and a comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Such beautiful views. Visit their website for coupons and discounts.
Fantastic resort. Great runs, great accommodation and service.
Had a balst at kicking horse. Great mountain, had a ton of snow and made the day that much better. Tons of areas to explore, one of my favorite hills forsure!
Amazing mountian! Well set up and amazing skiing! Food and drinks available all over the mountian! Good parking and easy access! Close to golden
Insane hill, loads of fun. Very steep though and wasn't quite enough snow for us though so some sections just becomes terrifying. Definitely got to be incredible on a power day!
Rented an air bnb condo on the mountain. Super clean rooms with all the amenities.
Came here to do some hiking at the top of the mountain only to find that it was socked in with rain clouds. Ended up just going to the grizzly bear refuge instead, which was amazing. They pretty much guarantee that you'll see the bear, Boo, if you stay long enough but it's definitely not like a zoo. He has tons of space in a natural environment and you can tell he's really happy. The guides are really helpful and friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. Definitely worth the money and the views from the chairlift are fantastic, even when it's cloudy/foggy.
Hoping it will be clear next time we go so we can get some views from the top of the mountain and do some hiking up there.
Went to the ski resort to ho snowboarding and overall they had a good variety of runs.
I ve personally never had a fantastic day here but it is a very large mountain with plenty of terrain to ski. It s a cool place but I ve never had the best snow. I ve heard it is amazing when there is a lot of snow.
On a Friday with new snow there were only 3 of their 4 lifts running and one is just for beginner terrain. The other two were very busy, but resort management did not open the other lift. At $100 for a ticket, this is not customer service, and customers who travelled a long way to get there do not appreciate this penny pinching policy. If you want steeps with better lifts, snow, sun, and warmer weather head to Snowbird or Squaw.
Unbelievably amazing hill, great for snowboarding or skiing if you are advanced as there are few novice runs. Not over-groomed, tons of snow, this mountain is the perfect mix of open / tree runs. All definitely be visiting again at the first opportunity! The town of Golden has great food and the nearby chalets are very reasonably priced for the luxury you get.
One of my fav ski hills. Just make sure you don't go too late int he season.
This place was great for the mountain biking crowd.
Great place! Would recommend staying in the mountain if you can!
Went skiing with sister and her husband back in December of 2014. Best ski trip in a LONG time! Some parts were a bit icy, but the runs were diverse and offered tons of powder and shortcuts through trees and all that. I hope to return!
Went for late season skiing. Rooms were clean and very large. It was fairly quiet due to it being end of season but everyone working there was still attentive and polite. Skiing was phenomenal.
Amazing resort! Some of the best technical terrain around, I'm personally disappointed that there's not enough lifts to easily access all the terrain. One has to go to the very bottom most of the time and with so much verticle it can get kinda boring, especially in spring when there's amazing pow at the top and slush at the base.
Eh they don't let you take bags on the chair lift, it's bloody annoying if you are thinking of back country rides
Amazing!! Staff was extremely welcoming and polite. Also very knowledgeable. Environment was well kept and clean. Not to mention the scenery was just breathtaking! So worth it highly recommend
Premier ski terrain, epic inbound extreme ski runs and unreal mountain scenery.
If there's snow it's the best mountain in the Rockies
I went on the sightseeing goldola ride. The view was amazing and we got to see Boo the bear on our ride up. The view from the top was priceless. Highly recommended.
Great mountain to ski on. Super great staff, they really look out for you. Even its patrons look out for you. I do feel this is not really a hill for beginners. But during the week not many people are here so you do feel somewhat safer. They offer ski school, tubing, small ice skating ring, childrens center.. general store, an amazingly great cafe with the best coffee, and a few other drinking/pub food places. The staff here really go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and comfortable.
Overnight skiing in summer to winter? Less convenient location.
Not a beginner hill. Which is nice to not have newbies around, but tough if you like blue runs. Gorgeous views, and very friendly staff.
Skiing is amazing. Best resort in the Canadian Rockies. It has the steeps, The groomers, the powder, the LOW CROWDs.
Pros: is a hotel. Cons: everything else.
I've had better customer service from an ATM. Staff was rude, made me late for a wedding, and didn't care that my room wasn't available at my stated check-in time. Every guest in my party of 25+ had a bad experience. No AC, no pool and they hire people who don't know what customer service is. Don't stay here.
Good resort, terrain is definitely suited to advanced skiers the best (most of the terrain is steep ungroomed bowls) but intermediate and beginner skiers will find enough well groomed blues and greens to enjoy.
One downside- the resort doesn t have a free or paid shuttle from the nearby town of Golden, so you ve got to drive yourself. Similar local resorts like Revelstoke offer a shuttle and it really makes a difference.
Had a great day skiing here, cool setup for a resort. Excellent food and beverage options on the hill.
What an awful experience my family went through at the resort! After spending $350.00 on just the gondola tickets ( for my family of seven people) we were accused of cheating, some of our tickets were blocked!!! my sons we separated from the rest of us and were denied access to the hill. Ended up with only 3 rides down because of all of this. Slow process, long lines, misinformation about renting bikes resulting in not having a bike at all! the list of grievances goes on an on. Extremely bad customer service and overpriced for what the hill has to offer. Choosing to spend our money elsewhere. We will not be back for biking nor skiing.
Some of the most breathtaking views from the top. If you are not advanced skier the run down is along a narrow cat trail. Not enough easier runs from the top.
Absolutely love this resort. Beautiful accommodations. Stunning view of the mountains. Nestled away up on the slopes. Complete with several restaurants, shops, and incredible activities. Right now mountain biking (various trails according to ability), ski lift to grizzly bear habitat., Gondola lifts to mountain bike trails and top of the mountain restaurant. Close to 4 of the 5 National Parks. We are so happy we came
Sweet runs, lots and lots of powder, amazing views. The only thing I didn't like was that they closed early when I was there but other than that It was quite an enjoyable experience.
Great terrain, but difficult to escape poor viz conditions due to lack of gladed terrain. Also, could really use a couple of more upper mountain lifts so you dont always have to cycle back to the bottom elevation. Rasonably priced shuttle to/from town would be great for nightlife options in town, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, or other nights with things happening in town.
powdery snow! superb mountain for intermediate people has advanced.
Wish the weather was a bit better. Would've been a wonderful view.
The food at the Eagle was pretty good. Dessert was a bit of a disappointment but the main and drinks were very good
i skied here and it was good. by skiing i mean snowboarding. i am learning to ski. i am not as good at skiing as i am at snowboarding. i am also hoping to learn how to surf though the resort does not offer it at this time. i spoke to guest services about the issue and they assured me that they would let me know when surfing becomes available. i was joking though because i know i wont be able to surf when the time comes since i am still a novice. no park tho which is lame.
Nice mountain cut in 2 bowls and then the big boulevard lacked snow but what do you want .... We wanted to have a beer upstairs but the bar closes at 1600 so no beer the chairs are slow and obsolete he misses even one in my opinion. Lack of undergrowth. Funny mountain design. The staff is nice. See you.
Awesome mountain for advanced terrain. If you know how to ski well you won't be disappointed. Love this place.
Nice , clean, spacious suite. Comfortable fully equipped kitchen.
The view from the top of the mountain is awesome. Not crowded so I really enjoyed it
What is up with grooming and the mogules the size of volkswagons?!
Nice runs and lifts. Short lines but most runs are only serviced by the gondola.
Wonderful landscape and have the Boo bear that you can visit it in the middle of the forest.
most favorite ski resort. the Via-Faretta in the summer is a MUST DO. also BOO the Bear is nice to visit. Boarding is INTENSE and by far the most fun of all the hills i have been to. Prefer Kicking horse over Revelstoke.
After multiple trips finally came to a conclusion on Kicking Horse. Maybe not my favourite hill in normal conditions due to its ridge set-up and tendency for a heavy mix of blacks vs limited blues/greens (when it has powder it's a whole other story) but, as far as beauty goes, it's spectacular so always worth a stop on your itinerary.
