Don t lose your ticket! It s your way out! Def a must visit! Ruben sandwich with meatloaf, the pastrami! And brisket not to be missed! Def a come back!
Can t go wrong.
The pastrami is heavenly good melts in your mouth.
A must stop whenever visiting NY.
Its Katz's - get the pastrami. It is THE best pastrami on earth. The matzo ball soup is killer too!
We stayed at Hotel Indigo and was surprised to find this spot by the corner. It was busy and crowded. No wonder the traffic was mad. The Pastrami was delish!
Exactly how it was described by a friend and the food was superb
The pickles, potato knishes and the sandwiches are awesome
Whenever in New York, I always try to make my stop here. Crowded but worth it. Possibly a tourist like atmosphere but the food here is worth the visit.
Excellent place to feel the real taste of NYC. But looking queues!
A must if you're in NYC - The famous deli does the most amazing sandwiches, you may even get to sit in the same seat as Meg Ryan and 'Have what she had' - Food and service amazing, expect to wait around half an hour for a table (if you wish to have table service). - The wait is worth it.
Overrated overpriced disgusting tourist trap with a name.
Monday is the day to go! Hubby enjoyed this pastrami on rye. I had a grilled cheese w/ tomatoes, haha. Both were delicious!
$24 Ruben (and I love me a Ruben) Bread it was not rye not toasted, the cheese was not melted, the Sour Krout was not crunchy. The thousand Island was watered down not thick, and to make up for the outrageous price the put a pound of beef on the sandwich witch ruins the perfect balance of all ingredients. This was a waste of money and effort. My wife had an $19 cheese steak it was a fine sandwich, just not a $19 sandwich! This place is a dump.
This place sells a famous pastrami sandwich. I didn't like the sandwich much, but the atmosphere of the restaurant and the service over the counter was cool.
meh overpriced. can go to qny deli and get the same thing
The best!!! Nobody else compares. Everything is delicious. I especially like the corn beef sandwich, square knish, potato pancakes (although they are a little dense), and pickles. And who doesn t love that they give you samples of the meats you order?!?! It s the best!
Came here at about 3 am on a Saturday night last month and it was everything I wanted it to be. You walk in, grab a ticket, head straight to the counter, and decide what sandwich to pick from. The guys let me try all the meats, all unique and delicious, but in the end I stuck with the pastrami. The sandwiches are simple and made to order, coming with pickles on the side. The only downside is the price, but that's something you have to decide is worth it before you get there. If I head back, I would definitely order a half sandwich next time as the portions are huge. Would definitely recommend checking this place out at an odd hour as we did because there was no wait, but at peak times, like Saturday afternoons, the line spans around the block. Last point to mention, do not lose the ticket you get when you walk in, you need it to get out! Go forth and enjoy good food!
A NY icon for good reason. Great food, cool atmosphere.
This place has the best pastrami on rye sandwiches. The pastrami is flavorful and almost melts in your mouth!
This is my holy grail!! This by far, the best Jewish deli, on the planet!! Combination, corned beef and pastrami on rye bread with Russian dressing and Cole slaw, with a few half sour pickles on the side, is what I want my last meal to be!
Best pastrami sandwich, a must visit for me every time I am in town
This has got to be the best Deli in the world, I know that is a BIG statement, but the food is just about how you would dream of the perfect deli sandwich. The corned beef was the best I have ever had in the United States.
It is a New York landmark. However, it's also overhyped and going to cost you more than just $15 for the pastrami sammie you'll order because "you'll have what she's having." Expect lines 90% of the time. Expect a good sandwich. Don't lose your ticket, that's how you pay at the end. Go once to say you've done it and cross it off the list for good.
Costly, but i guess a must for tourists. Waiter was great. Decor and setting very cool. Had the cheesesteak and was just ok but not great. All the positive reviews though cant be wrong i suppose....just wasnt for me.
Every time I go I wonder if the wait is worth it. And every time I taste the pastrami Reuben I remember that it is!
Over rated at best. The sides are horrible and the soda fountain doesn't work. The only redemption was the Reuben. I would have walked out of this place if it would have been as good as their sides. Don't come here for anything but the sandwiches. The macaroni salad tastes like cardboard that had been frozen and mixed with mayo that was expired and left out in the sun for a day or two. The sandwich was the best part and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who was looking for an amazing sandwich. I'll be making mine at home from now on and saving myself the trouble.
Great food... Very expensive, but always a crowd and always worth the wait.
Beautiful old timey diner with friendly staff but the food was extremely mediocre. My Reuben had WAY too much cheese on it, the bread was not beautifully toasted, it was yoo thin, it was soft and soggy.
This place deserves 10 stars. Food is simply to die for. I will be back
New York's original Underground Gourmets, described some 50 years ago as a living, breathing Brueghel painting is still a great, odoriferous, slightly harrowing thrill. An ecstasy of chaos and clinking plates. No serious student of deli has not been to Katz's. Nothing else like it in the world. Yes, the #pastrami and corned beef are hand-sliced and usually terrific. A little over priced!
Super cheap dumplings (something like $4 for 5 dumplings, or even cheaper depending on what kind you get). Different choices of meats and ways of cooking (fried or boiled/steamed), and great options of sides such as kimchi or spicy vegetables. Great place for a quick/cheap bite to eat.
Katz's is a must-try for anyone in New York. This humble deli is constantly packed with hungry patrons looking to experience over a hundred years of tradition. When you take the first bite into the expertly prepared sandwiches, everything begins to make sense as the few simple, but flavorful ingredients begin to sing their choir in your mouth. The meat is so tender, it will literally crumble if you're too rough with it. Unless you have a large appetite, one sandwich is probably good enough for two people. The sandwiches are packed so densely with meat, you'll be shocked at how quick you begin to experience the defeat of food coma. 10/10!
Actually last year I was there and I ordered the pastrami sandwich. The taste is not wow at all it s normal. And the price was so expensive. Not deserved at all.
Absolutely the best pastrami ever. Hand-cut, thick, juicy slices. Tried Carnegie as well, and while Carnegie's is good, there's a clear winner. Katz's is tops.
Highly recommend!!!! The pastrami sandwich is huge!!! I'm talking giant the Matzo ball soup is delicious. Very busy buy worth it.. our waiter was extremely rude, which I was shocked at because I'm from Colorado, but he did bring us our food and gave us our bill so he did his job. The staff behind the counter were amazing, and so was the man at the door. Definitely have to try.
Amazing brisket & pastrami sandwich, best sandwiches I had and years.. keep it up.
Lives up to the hype and definitely worth the wait in line and the price. You can either get table service or just go up to the cutters individually (faster option!) get your food, and then find a seat yourself and enjoy! You can even purchase meat to ship back home if you're just visiting Manhattan! Highly recommend the pastrami sandwich, definitely the main item, it's 22 bucks but it's the best thing we ate in New York!
Great food! But overall this place is shabby, old and dirty. The waiters are not friendly and their uniforms look old and dirty.
Nice experience that I believe anyone visiting NYC should have. However, a bit pricey.
Come with a tent, worth every dollar spent for that sweet corned beef. It was like 40 bucks for a sandwich tho...
A True Blue NYC experience. The Sandwhich meat portions are MASSIVE, the prices are decent, but definitely wort a visit... try the corned beef or the pastrami!
Great pastrami and other meats.. Very crowded. Do not like how others' dirty dishes are wheeled right next to you as you eat. But that's me. Very popular place with tourists and locals. Not cheap.
Pastrami was Awesome! So was everything I ate here! A must go
Can't go wrong with a pastrami sandwich. Corned beef is top notch too.
Classic, legendary and a place where flavor pays off for the patience required to get served when it's busy. Enjoy
The sendweeches are so good but take in to consideration that they are enormous, so don't do the same mistake we did and take a whole sendweeche. Perfect place to share food
"We arrived while it was raining so it was a welcome respite to the inclement weather. For a first-timer, the whole process is a little intimidating because they have a particular way of ordering and paying for your meal that everyone seems to know except yourself. So, trying to figure out where to go and what to eat while impatient New Yorkers are making comments behind you is somewhat unsettling. However, once you figure it out, you wont find a better place for traditional deli staples like corned beef, Reuben sandwiches, freshly made pickles, and matzo ball soup. The food was dished out at record speed and was absolutely delicious. The only qualms my wife and I had were the unclear manner in which one is supposed to order, the prices ($20+ for a sandwich is a little outrageous), and the fact they do not accept anything but cash.
But, all in all, that type of environment is to be expected and really did not impact our thoughts on the food or the history. Would 100% recommend to others and would absolutely return."
It,s really crowed cause the Pastrami sandwiches are soo good. I mean GOOD!!
Kind of rude but it is NYC so maybe that's the norm.food was ok. Like any other deli but rude and seating is a pain in the butt
Was able to grab a bite here for lunch. Nostolgic feel when stepping into the establishment. There is still a ticket system when entering, tip the guy before he's making your sandwich for the juicy meat sample. Definitely an experience not to pass up when in the lower east side for some protein.
Food was great, very authentic, service by the person preparing the food was very good , but door staff were rude and had no idea about customer service ; the place need to move with times from a service perspective and requires an urgent update to bring up to the 21st century
When visiting NYC you have to try it at least once. There is the option to buy half a sandwich because the full sandwich is too big for me. The pastrami is good but a little too salty for me.
My husband is obsessed with Kayz!! The thoroughly enjoyed their Ruben Sandwich. One thing I didnt like was that you ordered at one place at the back.. then for fries and coffee you go to the back then to the front to pay.. it seemed a bit confusing to me
Probably the best Pastrami restaurant in town. As soon as you step in you feel like you are in a Movie about to have a great Pastrami...And thats what you ve got to expect.
Amazing moist and tender Pastrami, the extra lean pastrami is also worth mentioning, very tasty. Do not miss out their Brisket, which are a real delight.
As for the veggies, they include some fresh cucumber and picks with every order, as well as some bread (I did not see and gluten free option)
I would like to mention that their staff, the meat cutters are rude, that was a big downside.
Aside from their rude cutters, this has became one must stop places at Manhattan...
Really good. Expect to wait a little, but hey youre getting a massive sandwich for $23 bucks, what do you expect.
First time here at Kat s. I wanted to come here to see what the hype is all about and with over 10k reviews, there had to be something special about it. It was delicious, but at $25 for the sandwich and soda - it wasn t worth that price (deducted a star for that), but it was good for the experience and tastiness. I had the pastrami and chocolate egg cream soda.
Absolutely yummy! Have tried pastrami on rye with mustard, asked for both styles of pickles. This is 10/10!
came here as it is recommended by many.
- Each person was passed a yellow tix. Thats need when check out/pay. Don't throw!
- you can choose either to be served or self service.
We chose self service as no need to wait. Its easy, just go up to 1 of the cutter station, order and sit yrself.
- good atmosphere. service was nice.
- I ordered a Pastrami sandwich (highly recommended online) US$21.45.
at first i was taken aback by the $. its seen a bit high for a sandwich.
- After we placed our orders. The cutter cut a few slices to try.
Once i put that meat in my mouth.... the $ is worth it. Omg it melted in my mouth!
- I was only able to finish half of the sandwich. It was THAT much meat.
If u r not super hungry....share it.
I will guess that will let u hanging there wanting more. LOL
I packed my the other half sandwich. Still very good the next day. Just microwave 45s... you dont want to dry up that meat.
Its worth having if u in NY!
Got harassed at the door by a bouncer who was rude. Also, the water faucets are rigged so that way you cant get water unless you're constantly pressing down on the faucet. Can't properly wash you hands. This place is garbage.
The best Reuben I've ever eaten! Not only delicious but big portions and friendly, efficient service.
"The service, menu, staff, and food was just absolutely incredible."
Overrated and not worth 25 dollars that I paid for my pastrami sandwich it could've been better
This place has one of the best tasteful meat out there!! Really loved this place, because the food is unique and how the bill you is also unique.
Don t bother. Vastly overpriced, horribly cramped. The pastrami is very good.
Seems to be one of those famous, I have been around for a while resturaunts. The pastrami is excellent actually!
Super whatever, would not pay $24!! For this sandwich, good deal at like half the price. It's a lot of meat but noone needs this much meat. Also very rude service
Incredibly long lines, but surprisingly efficient service. Brisket sandwich was delicious.
It s a fun experience for visitors or special occasions, but there is no way you could eat here all the time. The experience is similar to an amusement park queue or something; you get a ticket when you walk in, you take your ticket to various places along the counter, you eat (make sure you are aware of which seating is waiter-service only), then you redeem your ticket at the door where you pay your bill.
It s a wonderful NYC institution that is hopefully around for many years to come. I mean, look at that pastrami!
Pastrami sandwich was the most DELICIOUS sandwich ever!!! Meat was warm and tender. Keep in mind the portions are huge so you might want to share. Matzo ball soup was a bit too salty for my taste. A must try in NYC!!
We made the trip over to Katz to experience the famous New York deli. The atmosphere was great, a throwback to old school deli. However, we found the meats to be too salty and the sandwiches were expensive! $21+ for the pastrami or corned beef on rye. They are big and probably enough to share.
Wait time and prices are a bit ridiculous for what you're getting. There's no sides yet you're buying an arm and a leg for a sandwich. Have fun finding seating as well.
Morty provided excellent service. The pastrami was amazing along with the soup and pickles.
It's good, but not great. Would be 4/5 but it's overpriced.
Katz's Delicatessen had saw dust all over the floor, it got suck in my shoes. They came to clean half of it up after we started eating. The food was pretty good but the waiter was rude.
Best Pastrami on Rye ever!
I dont think I have eaten here before. I had the Matza ball soup, Ireally liked it. It was a short walk from the metro. It was rral crowded. The waiters and people who work there were friendly. They have been in business a long time the food is excellent. This has to be the very best deli I have ever eaten at. I know I will be going back on my next Manhatten trip.
Two thumbs up. Recommended!
This place is successful because of it's history. Pastrami sandwich was good but way overpriced. Very crowded !!! uninviting atmosphere. Confusing system with pay system "tickets". Pictures with all the politician and super stars all over. Make you feel like you are stupid and don't understand . I guess I did not get it.
This is the pastrami sandwich that I will judge all others. Amazing.
Cultural and delectable dining experience. Best pastrami in the world. Must visit if in NYC
Pricey but must try Pastramis so good but melts in your mouth. Do not lose your ticket. Line goes by quickly.
Classic New York Destination. I have been coming here all my life. Certainly not just for tourists.
Cool place where you can get a real pastrami sandwich
