The food is delicious and they give you so much; it's worth the price
Didnt go in was just passing. Sandwiches expensive at 15 dollars min
Very delicious pastrami, especially fresh off the counter. Slightly confusing system for the unitiated, but that's part of the fun. Do not loose the yellow ticket!
The pastrami is great and atmosphere is unique, but as New Yorker I only need that about once every 3 years. $22 per sandwich, no thanks.
Best of the best. History is showing up to enjoy the best Pastrami Sandwich in the city
The man that made us our sandwich was extremely nice even though he was busy, there was a long line but the food is worth the wait!
We went around lunch time and they had a pretty long line. Decided to come back around dinner time and didn't have an issue. I had the pastrami sandwitch. I can honestly say it's the best sandwitch I've ever had.
Theres a true reason the line never dies here!!! Amazing sandwich! Chocolate egg cream, yes please!
SIMPLY THE BEST. BETTER THAN ALL THE REST. 4 generations of my family have been coming to KATZ'S DELI. Not just a NYC INSTITUTION. but and AMERICAN INSTITUTION .
OMG - where do I even start. The sandwich is to die for over here. It is by far the best sandwich I have ever had in the world.
You cannot go wrong with anything you order over there. Make sure to go there at odd times otherwise you would need to wait for a long time.
We usually get a coffee and wait in like
My preferred place for delicious American food. Do yourself a favor and try this place. Looking forward to going back again. The place has a nice atmosphere.
Best Deli in town. A must if you have never been here. Go for the pastrami sandwich
The pastrami sandwich was the best I've ever Had! Definitely big enough for two to share.
Best pastrami I've ever had. Amazing lively atmosphere.
Best Pastrami on Rye in NYC. Period. End of story. Brains on the walls - your mind will be blown!
Nice real food. You cant get sandwiches like these any where else
Best deli in NYC. Get a pastrami, share it with a friend. The pickles are great too.
Sandwiches as big as your face! Love the no-frills decor of the place and the traditional, grumpy waiting service (even though I'm sure they're putting on an act!). Prices are a little high, but you do get a load of food and they're happy to wrap it up and allow you to take your sandwich to go. There is even a small gift shop offering tees and sweatshirts! Had a great meal there, highly recommended.
The food here is decent, but it s pretty overpriced. I would recommend getting the pastrami rye sandwich, it s pretty good. However the staff here is a little sketchy, make sure you don t lose your ticket they give you when you walk in the door, this is what they use to keep track of what you order. If you lose it, they will charge you $50.
Combo Ruben with pastrami sandwich was delicious but huge! Had to take 1/2 sandwich home. Very crowded though! I don't like crowded places. But food was great!
Hands down best pastrami in NY, possibly the universe.
Fluffy matzo ball in a complex chicken broth; soft corned beef on fresh rye with crunchy pickles; and insane crowds.
And don't forget your ticket, seriously, don't be that guy...
Man i love this place. I just try it once but then i realize "pastrami is life".
Amazing eclectic sandwich restaurant.Great customer service and friendly staff.Once of the best hot pastrami sandwiches you will have.Food is excellent. Just what we looked for.
The atmosphere really hit the spot and the sandwich is top with a generous mustard on top will make your day for sure.
Epitome of 'tourist trap' so avoid the obvious holiday and weekend times that bring the bridge and tunnel crowd.
Delicious pastrami and corned beef but they won't grill your sandwich, which is how a reuben should be prepared.
Super over-priced, so recommend splitting a sandwich if you're not too hungry.
The counter ordering scene is a real hassle when busy and the overhead ventilation system drips condensation on about 20% of the tables...yep, right onto your food and drink...
Hate to write this review but I feel like I should warn people. I went with a friend so the bouncer gives us both just 1 ticket and on the way out after we paid the other bouncer says no he didn't you lost your ticket and was making an embarrassing situation I used to like the place but now wish I never went or recommended it. Im disgusted
I didn't figure out how to order immediately but when I did, I just waited for the Philadelphia cheese steak and it was good. Not too salty, grilled with caramelization, and the gooey melted cheese married the bun and the meat. If any, it could be a little bit more moist... Just because thatsy how I prefer my meat.
great jewish deli, get here for pastrami as fast as you can.. try and get your head around the ordering/paying system too
OMG Amazing! The other half of your sandwich will make it into your fridge and still taste delicious cold the next day. I wish I could eat here every day. If you happen to be close to this heavenly mecca, do not pass this place. You'll thank me later.
The food wasn't bad but it was overpriced and took forever. There are so many delis in New York this one is nothing special.
Yummy. Great huge juicy corned beef and brisket sandwiches. Love the knishes. The matzo ball soup. All delicious. You can either order the food at the counter and self serve. Or you can sit at the tables and have waiter service. Either way the food is great. They ship throughout the United States.
the Pastrami sandwich is delicious but very pricey, if you are on a budget or don't eat too much in one sitting order one sandwich to split between 2 people. My boyfriend and I ordered two whole sandwiches and we ended up eating half then and half for dinner.
This is where they filmed where Harry met Sally!!! Omg this place is awesome so propa
Good catering and service for my 9 year old. Most popular deli in NYC and it's popular for a reason.
8/10, Local Reviewer
Worth the wait. Great vibes. Great food. Their remoulade sauce is amazing. Pictures on the walls tell a great story.
Best Pastrami Sandwich in the world. Very friendly and very helpful people work at Katz's. Always make time to stop at Katz's every time we are in New York!
I almost choked on the Pastrami sandwich. But hey, that would've been a good way to die
A fun tourist experience. I wasn't a huge fan of the food though. It was ok.
Great food and atmosphere. Our family enjoyed it very much.
Honestly the best pastrami sandwich you'll ever eat. I was surprised when the staff let me try the meat before they made my sandwich. Makes it feels more tailored to my tastes. The potato salad was also exquisite and sweet- provided a nice contrast to the warm, salty meat. The place was clean and ordering was smooth. Overall a really great sandwich spot
Reubens pastrami was great. Salami sandwich was a fiasco.
This place is famous for when Harry met Sally they even have a sign saying where the famous shot was taken. I had a roll with beef, they cut the inside out to get more meat in !!!! I couldn't eat it all !!
Best Pastrami in America. Beef Brisket is amazing too
I love it!! God I would so recommend this pls e too anyone as a one stop and go. The best sandwich and knitsues I ve ever had. The place was jam packed, but it was amazing. Definitely worth going!
Very tasty but realy realy bad service, long wait and very rude cutter. Overall not recommend!
The pastrami is absolutely delicious, but the matzo ball soup was too salty, and the tea was very bitter from being brewed too long
This place has so much history and you can feel that from the first time you see the sign from far away and it grows when you step your foot in here.
Then they have a old fashioned way of order food with different waiting lines.
It's an only cash place, so remember to bring cash. And if you ain't to hungry don't order to much because it is a lot of food. Its great, a must visit!
This deli was on my NYC bucket list and it didn't fail me. Would def. go there again. The prices are high but reasonable taking in account that a single sandwich will be enough for two hungry people.
Food was delicious...its a bit on the pricey side but hubby wants to go back for more. This place was jammed pack but I believe it always is. They use a ticketing system to enter and exit, so make sure you hang on to that.
Awesome. You must have the pastrami sandwich. Just pastrami and bread. Truly melts in your mouth
Love their pastrami sandwiches, too expensive, but the food is delicious. Servers are excellent!
Legendary place. I had to go with white bread, not a big fan of rye. Not disappointed and definitely didn't leave hungry.
So we came in, and we understand it is a tourist trap. We understand it's an almost 20 dollar sandwich. But the pastrami tasted so damn good. We ordered, and the guy making our sandwich sliced a couple pieces off and placed it on a plate for us while we waited. That bite alone was worth 6 stars. Fantastic. I am having dreams about it. The rest of the sandwich was good, not great, and as it sat for a couple minutes it was not as good as when we first started. So, my advice is get the slices at the counter, and eat fast. Get over the tourist trap part of it and just enjoy it. We went early in the morning while waiting for our brunch table to be ready (no we're not large.......) so it was not packed.
Pastrami is good. I'm not an expert. Always get great reviews on the turkey. When I take to friends or treat but at $22 per...... You really have to like pastrami
Awesome food...you just need to be patient and not in a rush--- always crowded
Im sorry i dont care how family this place is. We spent over a 100 bucks on a meal and the counter attendant was so rude. He told me it would take 15 min for the omelette. I said fine. I waited the 15 min he told me they were busy and that it would be 15 min. I timed it..and then he called me sweetheart in a nasty tone. I said it's been 15 min and im from florida we don't disrespect people by calling them sweetheart. Very bad experience. Waste of money. Sandwich was not worth the 21.45 it was a waste of over 100.
Must Eat in NYC. For the love, this was the best pastrami I've ever had. The atmosphere is chaotic, but worth it for the sandwich. Just go during an "off" time so your wait isn't quite as long.
A classic must-see deli. My meal (a beef brisket sandwich this time) was delicious! I really enjoyed the pickles that came with our sandwiches too! The standing wait for the meal was a bit disorganized and long, and the seating too tight, but the staff was friendly and helpful.
Like most others, we came here because of Seinfeld
Nice staff. Good hot chocolate!
I had the western omelette while my girlfriend had the sausage omelette. Both were very tasty.
The best pastrami sandwich in the world. The Turkey sandwich was ok. Couple from P.R.
Amazing authentic NY deli, best pastrami I have ever eaten!! Great atmosphere and fantastic food.
Katz is a classic joint like no other restaurant in the neighborhood. It has history in every nook and cranny as soon as you walk in. It almost felt like an assembly line when i first walked in and lined up behind 20 other people. The guys behind the counter that prepare your food are super cool. When i ordered my classic pastrami sandwich they cut a couple slices for me to taste before hand. It just made my mouth water ever more. The sandwich is kind of expensive, around $18, but trust me when i tell you it is well worth it. It is big enough for 3 people to share if you ask for extra bread. The overall experience was a delight and i can't wait to visit again soon.
It's an amazing sandwich, but there is often a line and it is quite pricey.
Good atmosphere.. nostalgic.. feel like you're apart of the past! Good food.. long lines though... gotta be quick to find a seat!
Cuts to thick very expensive have been at Katz deli periodically for last 30 years and have found 2 nd ave deli, Carnegie and sapienza deli in queens better
Definitely worth stopping by for a quick hot dog or a pastrami sandwich.
Yum! Thick cut corned beef and pastrami! I prefer super thin! But I m from Chicago and it s different! Delicious! No matter how you cut it! Love pickled tomatoes, like Kaufman s!!
Great food lines a little disoriented other than that all is goos
Great place to eat. New York history can be felt in this deli. Amazing food and huge portions. My only criticism is that for a Jewish diner/deli the food is not kosher.
Had the pastrami sandwich. It was amazing and quite filling
Worth going to if you want a classic pastrami sandwich but the place is in the middle of nowhere so only go if you're willing to walk (in the blazing heat; that was when I was there which wasn't pleasant) all the way to SoHo after or get back on the train to somewhere else.
Amazing!! So the process was a tad confusing: you are handed a ticket when you walk in, go up to the counter that you want food from (I.e. sandwich, bagel, coffee are at different sections of the counter), place the order (the pastrami sandwich is a must!! OMG so yummy!), then hand them your ticket so they can write the price on it. There were a few guys that were busy and didnt write the price on our ticket, we were able to wave one down and get it updated, but when I went to pay (if paying by credit card, you have to pay near the coffee section then give ticket to the person at the counter on the way out), I mentioned I had an iced coffee that wasnt on the ticket. They uodated, called out the guy who missed it, and explained that they get in trouble for missing stuff. So if they miss something, be an honest person and ask them to add it to the ticket. There are tables labeled for waiter service, dont sit there unless you are getting service. There is a water station where you can fill/refill glass of water. Bagel with Lox and cream cheese was fantastic as well.
Highly recommend checking out Katz! Wish I had the stomach to try more items than what we did, because I hear so many things are great.
One of my favorite institutions for good potato pancakes, knishes and anything kosher! It's big open space famous for the iconic scene from the movie when Harry Met Sally. This cash only restaurant is a must have when you are downtown!
The best place the get Pastrami in NYC period. Lines are long and the restaurant is over crowded 85% of the time but, the wait is worth it. I enjoy going here when I lived in the city and even when I moved away I would make the 6 hour drive for a sandwich. I personally recommend the pastrami on rye with two sour pickles. Late nights is the best time to go and don t forget to tip the boys cutting up the meat.
Best sandwiches in the world. When I moved to Michigan I missed the pastrami so much that I drove the 10 hours to get one. That is a 100% true story and I have no regrets. The pastrami and corned beef are that good
A must-have if you are in the city. Straight to the point service- Pastrami will melt in your mouth, sandwiches are stacked high but magically stay intact. Pickles are perfect as well.
A must to visit! Although their pastron sandwiches are their star, the hamburgers are great!
While being a total tourist ripoff, I have to admit the food was really good.
Great food and a nice place. Must go place if you are in NYC.
Pastrami for sure! But only half, the sanwich is tooooooo big
Great sandwiches! I tried the pastrami and corned beef, I recommend the pastrami.
