We went around lunch time and they had a pretty long line. Decided to come back around dinner time and didn't have an issue. I had the pastrami sandwitch. I can honestly say it's the best sandwitch I've ever had.

OMG - where do I even start. The sandwich is to die for over here. It is by far the best sandwich I have ever had in the world.
You cannot go wrong with anything you order over there. Make sure to go there at odd times otherwise you would need to wait for a long time.
We usually get a coffee and wait in like

Sandwiches as big as your face! Love the no-frills decor of the place and the traditional, grumpy waiting service (even though I'm sure they're putting on an act!). Prices are a little high, but you do get a load of food and they're happy to wrap it up and allow you to take your sandwich to go. There is even a small gift shop offering tees and sweatshirts! Had a great meal there, highly recommended.

The food here is decent, but it s pretty overpriced. I would recommend getting the pastrami rye sandwich, it s pretty good. However the staff here is a little sketchy, make sure you don t lose your ticket they give you when you walk in the door, this is what they use to keep track of what you order. If you lose it, they will charge you $50.

Epitome of 'tourist trap' so avoid the obvious holiday and weekend times that bring the bridge and tunnel crowd.
Delicious pastrami and corned beef but they won't grill your sandwich, which is how a reuben should be prepared.
Super over-priced, so recommend splitting a sandwich if you're not too hungry.
The counter ordering scene is a real hassle when busy and the overhead ventilation system drips condensation on about 20% of the tables...yep, right onto your food and drink...

Hate to write this review but I feel like I should warn people. I went with a friend so the bouncer gives us both just 1 ticket and on the way out after we paid the other bouncer says no he didn't you lost your ticket and was making an embarrassing situation I used to like the place but now wish I never went or recommended it. Im disgusted

I didn't figure out how to order immediately but when I did, I just waited for the Philadelphia cheese steak and it was good. Not too salty, grilled with caramelization, and the gooey melted cheese married the bun and the meat. If any, it could be a little bit more moist... Just because thatsy how I prefer my meat.

OMG Amazing! The other half of your sandwich will make it into your fridge and still taste delicious cold the next day. I wish I could eat here every day. If you happen to be close to this heavenly mecca, do not pass this place. You'll thank me later.

Yummy. Great huge juicy corned beef and brisket sandwiches. Love the knishes. The matzo ball soup. All delicious. You can either order the food at the counter and self serve. Or you can sit at the tables and have waiter service. Either way the food is great. They ship throughout the United States.

the Pastrami sandwich is delicious but very pricey, if you are on a budget or don't eat too much in one sitting order one sandwich to split between 2 people. My boyfriend and I ordered two whole sandwiches and we ended up eating half then and half for dinner.

Honestly the best pastrami sandwich you'll ever eat. I was surprised when the staff let me try the meat before they made my sandwich. Makes it feels more tailored to my tastes. The potato salad was also exquisite and sweet- provided a nice contrast to the warm, salty meat. The place was clean and ordering was smooth. Overall a really great sandwich spot

This place is famous for when Harry met Sally they even have a sign saying where the famous shot was taken. I had a roll with beef, they cut the inside out to get more meat in !!!! I couldn't eat it all !!

This place has so much history and you can feel that from the first time you see the sign from far away and it grows when you step your foot in here.
Then they have a old fashioned way of order food with different waiting lines.

It's an only cash place, so remember to bring cash. And if you ain't to hungry don't order to much because it is a lot of food. Its great, a must visit!

This deli was on my NYC bucket list and it didn't fail me. Would def. go there again. The prices are high but reasonable taking in account that a single sandwich will be enough for two hungry people.

Food was delicious...its a bit on the pricey side but hubby wants to go back for more. This place was jammed pack but I believe it always is. They use a ticketing system to enter and exit, so make sure you hang on to that.

So we came in, and we understand it is a tourist trap. We understand it's an almost 20 dollar sandwich. But the pastrami tasted so damn good. We ordered, and the guy making our sandwich sliced a couple pieces off and placed it on a plate for us while we waited. That bite alone was worth 6 stars. Fantastic. I am having dreams about it. The rest of the sandwich was good, not great, and as it sat for a couple minutes it was not as good as when we first started. So, my advice is get the slices at the counter, and eat fast. Get over the tourist trap part of it and just enjoy it. We went early in the morning while waiting for our brunch table to be ready (no we're not large.......) so it was not packed.

Im sorry i dont care how family this place is. We spent over a 100 bucks on a meal and the counter attendant was so rude. He told me it would take 15 min for the omelette. I said fine. I waited the 15 min he told me they were busy and that it would be 15 min. I timed it..and then he called me sweetheart in a nasty tone. I said it's been 15 min and im from florida we don't disrespect people by calling them sweetheart. Very bad experience. Waste of money. Sandwich was not worth the 21.45 it was a waste of over 100.

Must Eat in NYC. For the love, this was the best pastrami I've ever had. The atmosphere is chaotic, but worth it for the sandwich. Just go during an "off" time so your wait isn't quite as long.

A classic must-see deli. My meal (a beef brisket sandwich this time) was delicious! I really enjoyed the pickles that came with our sandwiches too! The standing wait for the meal was a bit disorganized and long, and the seating too tight, but the staff was friendly and helpful.

Katz is a classic joint like no other restaurant in the neighborhood. It has history in every nook and cranny as soon as you walk in. It almost felt like an assembly line when i first walked in and lined up behind 20 other people. The guys behind the counter that prepare your food are super cool. When i ordered my classic pastrami sandwich they cut a couple slices for me to taste before hand. It just made my mouth water ever more. The sandwich is kind of expensive, around $18, but trust me when i tell you it is well worth it. It is big enough for 3 people to share if you ask for extra bread. The overall experience was a delight and i can't wait to visit again soon.

Worth going to if you want a classic pastrami sandwich but the place is in the middle of nowhere so only go if you're willing to walk (in the blazing heat; that was when I was there which wasn't pleasant) all the way to SoHo after or get back on the train to somewhere else.

Amazing!! So the process was a tad confusing: you are handed a ticket when you walk in, go up to the counter that you want food from (I.e. sandwich, bagel, coffee are at different sections of the counter), place the order (the pastrami sandwich is a must!! OMG so yummy!), then hand them your ticket so they can write the price on it. There were a few guys that were busy and didnt write the price on our ticket, we were able to wave one down and get it updated, but when I went to pay (if paying by credit card, you have to pay near the coffee section then give ticket to the person at the counter on the way out), I mentioned I had an iced coffee that wasnt on the ticket. They uodated, called out the guy who missed it, and explained that they get in trouble for missing stuff. So if they miss something, be an honest person and ask them to add it to the ticket. There are tables labeled for waiter service, dont sit there unless you are getting service. There is a water station where you can fill/refill glass of water. Bagel with Lox and cream cheese was fantastic as well.
Highly recommend checking out Katz! Wish I had the stomach to try more items than what we did, because I hear so many things are great.

One of my favorite institutions for good potato pancakes, knishes and anything kosher! It's big open space famous for the iconic scene from the movie when Harry Met Sally. This cash only restaurant is a must have when you are downtown!

The best place the get Pastrami in NYC period. Lines are long and the restaurant is over crowded 85% of the time but, the wait is worth it. I enjoy going here when I lived in the city and even when I moved away I would make the 6 hour drive for a sandwich. I personally recommend the pastrami on rye with two sour pickles. Late nights is the best time to go and don t forget to tip the boys cutting up the meat.

Best sandwiches in the world. When I moved to Michigan I missed the pastrami so much that I drove the 10 hours to get one. That is a 100% true story and I have no regrets. The pastrami and corned beef are that good
