Started 2 hours late. No respect for people who paid for the event. Everyone around me was complaining about the timeline and lack of attention to detail. Poorly staffed. Not worth the price. As an event planner I would be ashamed to put this on my resume.

Most amazing experience ever. Never gone ziplining before and this was easy to learn and hop right into the lines. There are 8 lines total. They start out basic and short so you get used to it. They have a couple of lines that have cameras and the later lines go past a waterfall and over rivers. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Worth every dollar spent. Thank you to Dylan, Greg, Waylan, Sarah. You all were amazing!
The best ziplining I have been on! Thanks to Emily our driving and the guide crew, Nicole, David, and Cobin! Highly recommend this adventure even if you re staying in kona like us.
Guides are are awesome!!!kali was my partner the whole time Ona saved my fingers but most of all Paulina for towing me in on the last zip when I failed to grab the rope!!!
We had an amazing experience doing the ATV and zip lining activities! The people were very knowledgeable about the island and really showed us a brand new side of Hawai i! 10/10 would recommend this activity!
We did the Ultimate National Park Explorer from Kona tour. It was a great way to experience the best of the Big Island in one day. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable in the geological and local history of Hawai i and knew what attractions were the most interesting and which could be skipped. The tour made sure we were well provided for with rain gear, snacks, and beverages throughout the trip plus two meals.
Just got finished this zip line tour! Simply amazing and the guides are super awesome! We had so much fun starting with our driver, Ray and then our FABULOUS guides- Dishman, Tiffany and Ipo who kept us laughing with their jokes but always promoted safety first! Dishman even helped us with vow renewal at zip line 8!!! What a terrific day. I highly recommend this company. Their staff is awesome and the views are breathtaking!
Me and my wife went on the Razor tour from Kapohokine Adventures and it was by far one of my favorite things about the trip, our tour guide was Eddie and he was one of the coolest guys. Plus I can t forget about our bus driver Jordan, she was the best! Definitely recommend!
Zip lining over waterfalls was an amazing adventure! Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and everything was well maintained. You can tell safety is their main priority. They do provide jackets if it rains but would likely recommend bringing your own.
Our tour guide was Carl and Carl is awesome. Wmow, what an amazing trip! He was so full of knowledge regarding Hawai'i. We really enjoyed having him as a tour guide for the day! Carl, you rock!!!!
Did the 8 line zip with Greg, Brandon and Jessie. Would definitely recommend this place for the whole family. Our driver, Courtney, was very friendly and informative. Drive up there is a little rough, but definitely worth it. Zips are beautiful and the waterfalls are crazy! Greg was great and was very helpful and patient with the younger ones. Zips are nice and long, and pretty fast. The peacocks strutting around the property give it an exotic feel. Would totally come again.
I went on the stellar explorer tour with Krystal for a guide. I loved getting to see some of the "must see" for this side of the island and some pro tips from Krystal that I can now use to feel more comfortable exploring more on my own! And of course the main event of seeing the beautiful Hawaii night sky was great. Tops it off to have a guide with an astronomy and physics degrees!
Make sure you are at least 10 pounds less than 275 with all your gear on or you may be rejected in front of your family, and if you went through Groupon it is nonrefundable. Suggest their website clarify the weight limit...
Had a blast on the ATV and zip line! I will say for outfit I would recommend closed toe sandals, swimsuit or swimming shorts and a swimming top. Trust me! You will be covered in mud - trust me! Head to toe but the best part is at the end you go into a waterfall to wash off and it s incredible! Worth every dime and do not forget to tip the staff! They work their butts off! Loved it and recommend doing this tour! Also Tiffany rocked on zip line, Kyle killed it on the grill and Zack pushed it to a whole new level on the ATVs!
My wife and I had an amazing experience doing the ziptrans option. We were shuttled by Lawrence from Kona to the zip course in Hilo. Lawrence is hands down the best tour guide I have ever met. He knew so much about the island and was extremely polite and accommodating. We had a wonderful drive, a great zipline experience, a refreshing dip in their private falls, tasty Hawaiian bbq and drinks included. I would highly recommend going with the zipline and swim option.
Would definitely recommend. We did the ziplines, which were extremely fun. They have great views including many waterfalls. Our guides, Brandon, Jessie, and Greg were helpful and attentive to safety. Our driver, Courtney, was informative and kind. While the ride up is quite bumpy, it is definitely worth it!
We loved this tour! It was a full day ride around the Big Island and a hike into the caldera of the volcano. The hike was beautiful but the tour guide Marcus is what made this day 5 stars! He was knowledgeable and friendly and very accommodating. He picked us up and offered us snacks and water, took us to a cave on the way to the volcano, stopped and made us lunch and dinner while we had some moments to ourself to sightsee. On the way back we made a special stop to see the stars and he even knew all the constellations! I would highly recommend this tour and ask is Marcus can be your tour guide. We couldn t have asked for a better memory.
This tour is a MUST! My husband, Mike, and I had an amazing time! The tour guides were great! I wish I could remember their names, because they remembered ours lol! But they were all super fun and made the experience so much better. Thank you! We will be back for sure!
First time Ziplining today. Staff was amazing from the store staff to the driver and guides. We throughly loved our day. Emily welcomed us and provided good information during our travel time. Kyle, Jessie, and Deven were all helpful, friendly, & made the experience very enjoyable. Felt safe and secure throughout experience and enjoyed gorgeous views.
Really friendly folks and super fun zipline tour!! We loved it. The overall tour took us around 4hours. Total 8 ziplines really covered the awesome rainforest views. It s so impressive to see the waterfall right in front of you. Paulina, Brandon and Kendall, thank you so much for guiding us through and always keep us safe!!
Awesome zipline adventure!! Destiny, Lono, Shelby, & Ari made our zipline experience so memorable. Amazing waterfalls, great food, and incredible zip guides!!
My husband and I had an amazing time with Lisa as our guide. Full day of ziplines, helicopter ride, volcano tour, with a meal at the end. Lisa is enthusiastic and had a great knowledge of the area.
We did a zip line and ATV combo in Hilo! It was awesome. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend it if you in Kona or Hilo. It's an hour and half from Kona. We had BBQ lunch provider with it as well as swimming in a waterfall. It was fresh water from th top of the mountain. ATV and Zipline are both recommended! It was a little disorganized in between our activities but we hiked back to the main area after swim and eating.. drive from hotel and back to check in area was informational! It is a little expensive but worth it!
Great zip code lines, staff was very professional. Awesome views and fun for the entire family, my kids 8 and 11 had a blast. Great experience over all!
We went on the evening volcano tour yesterday and it was absolutely AMAZING. Kelsey was so knowledgeable and personable she made everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Kelsey made the trip extra special. The volcano was even better than expected. Thank you so much !!
We did the ATV waterfall tour and had a blast! All the guides were super friendly. It was super muddy, so be prepared to come out drenched in mud. Mellissa was our van driver, she was so friendly and gave us great recommendations of things to do in Hilo.
We took our family (visiting from out of town) on the new Maunakea Trails ATV tour and it was fabulous with sweeping ocean vistas and a dip in a beautiful waterfall. Jenn and Greg were awesome guides and Ben (driver) offered useful info on the drive to and from the ATV site. It was one of my family s most memorable experiences while visiting the island.
Melissa was awesome! Talked with us for so long after an awesome tour ride up to the RZR ride and gave us tons of things to do. Also the RZR ride was great!! Very muddy which was fun
Roxy was a fantastic guide! As a native of the Big Island, she possesses an invaluable knowledge of Island and shared so much insider info/ anecdotes that not many others would be able to provide. She is so positive and her love of the island is contagious making the tour experience even more enjoyable. This was a perfect way to see the entire island of Hawaii while enjoying our honeymoon. We highly recommend the circle island tour for those wishing to get a full taste of the big island in one day!
We purchased their zippin lava package through Groupon and had the most amazing time. From the moment PJ our driver picked us and others up from our rooms on the other side of the island, to the moment he dropped us off in the evening, the experience was amazing. The ziplining crew was so fun and made me feel at ease for my first time ziplining. Campbell, our personal tour guide through Volcano National Park was a fountain of knowledge and so fun and full of personality, and really let us decide what we wanted to do and see and made excellent suggestions as well. The winery dinner was wonderful and tasty, and who can complain about a free tasting and discounts on bottles to ship home? And as said before, PJ our driver made the whole experienced get off on an excellent start with wonderful conversation and history on the ride over and back. I will definitely book through this company again when I bring my husband and son back to the island.
I cannot recommend the Kapohokine Star Tour highly enough! We chose this tour because we appreciated that it did not go to the Mauna Kea summit, both out of cultural respect and because it allowed our children to join us. You should note that this is the only star tour on the island that will allow children under 13. This tour was the highlight of our trip to Hilo and worth the travel for it alone. Our guide, Rich, was incredibly knowledgeable about the island, astronomy, folklore, and history. He picked up on each person's interest and had interesting things to say to everyone, from information about local animals for our 8 year old to history for our high schooler and astronomy facts for the adults. He even gave us ideas for what to do for the rest of our trip. I also appreciated how seriously they took COVID precautions, including individual hand sanitizers and water bottles and separate sanitized flashlights etc.
This was a great trip! Kent shared Hawaiian legend, history, flora, fauna, interesting facts, music, and a few Dad jokes during our adventure! He helped the group bond to make the experience even more memorable. I was glad we visited the volcano area on a guided tour. It was amazing to see the changes in the landscape brought about by the 2018 activity and walk into this volcano to see and feel the steam vents in real time. I know we would have missed some of the special spots and overlooked the significance of what was happening around us if we had ventured on our own. Other sights/stops along the way helped us gain a fuller Big Island experience during our stay. The Volcano Winery was a great bonus. A delicious dinner followed up our wine tasting. The best winery tour I ve experienced- vineyard and the vat room!
Tons of fun! Fantastic views. The river and waterfalls were stunning. The staff were funny, friendly, and very safety-conscious. I only remember David and Tiffany by name, but they were all great. Our driver was also wonderful - gave us all sorts of interesting information about the history of the island, Hilo in particular, the agriculture, the tsunamis, the people, etc. we had a great time!
What can I say this was an incredible experience, our guid had an amazing passion for what he was doing and was engaging throughout the entire experience. We were fortunate enough to see a variety of systems, binary stars and a nebular ( which would have been enough on its own) but also a most spectacular view of the moon.
One of the best experiences in my life. Steven, Nate, Cat, and Allison did the best job to make experience the best in my life. Full of safety for the family.
Did the ATV ride! SO MUCH FUN! Trail was great got to see a huge waterfall! Lots of mud! The guides where GREAT JAE and joe! HIGHLY recommend this tour!
We did the Lava Expedition - which was a great all day excursion. The driver, Makana, was excellent, he really made us feel like his extended family and gave us lots of cultural insight on the island and it's history throughout the day. We started by driving towards the park, stopping along the way to see where the lava had stopped just short of destroying one of the towns. The hike to the ocean entry was flat, and easy - most of it is on a paved path. The lava entry into the ocean is definitely something to see, though we did not see any actual lava on the hike (the steam covered it up while we were there) - this seems to be down to the time you go. I was expecting this to be a bit more of a trek, though the one unique perk of the hike is the company has a permit to park a lot closer than you could normally (cutting off about 4 miles round trip), though you can rent a bike or pay for a ride halfway.
After the park, and a picnic lunch watching the lava pour into the ocean. we visited lava tree state park, before heading to wine tasting and dinner at the Volcano Winery, which was exclusive to this company. The wine was unique and the BBQ dinner was really good. After dinner, we saw the steam vents, and the Thurston Lava Tube, which was really neat to visit at night.
From the lava tube we ended the night seeing the glow at the crater - the lava bubbling and pooling into the lava lake, it's crowded there, but definitely a must see while on the big island.
All in all, there wasn't anything on the excursion (aside from BBQ at the Volcano Winery) that we couldn't have done on our own. The benefit of the tour (aside from the parking at the hike to the lava entry into the ocean) is simply down to the excellent guides the company explores, their own insight and cultural knowledge, and the chance to see something along the way that you might have not thought to check out on your own. If any of these things are on your list of things to visit while on the Big Island, this is a great way to see them all in one day. The tour company does an amazing job, providing water, Patagonia jackets at night - and really everything you would need.
Kendal and Leigh were awesome! They were very knowledgeable and friendly . Every one at the establishment was inviting and not only guided us but taught us a lot of good information about the island. Even the shuttle driver Kent was truly amazing! Would strongly suggest this experience to all wanting an exhilarating and fun experience.
Grant picked the four of us up at our resort's main office @ 09:00. It was then some introductions and then off up the hill, to Kona coffee plantation. Had a tour of the site and was able to pick fresh fruit up, oranges, lemons, banana's, etc. We had a nice sandwich, soda, and crisps here. Was an organic farm so you had to watch where you stepped. Next a drive towards the Volcano. A history of the Island and then a stop far South, at a bakery, which was excellent. The Volcano which was letting off steam and a red glow. Dinner at a nice spot near the Volcano, then the drive home. A bit pricey, and, a long day, some 12 hours, but Grant was an excellent host, and a very good driver. If you go, it would be a very long drive to do it yourself, so highly recommend K Adventures! Britishcanadian
I did the zipline and it was amazing. The zip took us over massive waterfalls and lush jungle. The guides do a fantastic job of making it fun and professional. Safety was a top priority and I learned a lot about Hawaiian culture and the plants and animals of the forest. Thanks!
Got a good history lesson on Hilo and old Hawaiian legends from Kekai, the main man, on the way up to the line. The zipline was an awesome experience and the crew was super friendly and easy going. Good times. Bring your gopro, the views will blow your mind. Many thanks to Winner, Kekai, Weylan and Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.
Just got back from our Rzr ride - so much fun!! Lots of mud, slipping and sliding. And the waterfall is great. Cold but refreshing. Great operation and super kind staff!! A must for Hilo!
we never felt pressured when we went from one place to another in the park. Janet was vey informative about the country side and surroundings area. And in the volcanic national park
Our group of 10 consisted of four adults, two teens and 4 kids, ages 8, 8, 10, 11. Very interesting and entertaining tour by Kent. He is an amazing guide, driver and storyteller. He was able to keep the entire group entertained and educated regarding the Big Island, Volcanoes Nat'l Park, Hilo, waterfalls, and much more! A fun day had by all, worth the $$!!
My husband and I went on a volcano tour this past Sunday with Henry as our guide. I am a geologist who partially specialized in volcanology while in school. We decided to do this tour to learn more about the Hawaiian volcanoes in depth. I did expect this tour to be more catered towards people who do not have as much geology knowledge as I do but what I did not expect was that almost every geology fact that Henry told the tour was almost entirely wrong. This included everything from the basic types of volcanoes and rocks to how the islands moved (the islands move due to plate tectonics and NOT paleomagnatism). We also spent next to no time in the actual park and most of that time was in gift shops and the like. Disappointed in this tour is a large understatement for me. If you want to learn about actual geology and the volcano do not go on this tour.
Awesome experience; the time went way too fast! The guides are experienced and friendly, and let you HAVE FUN on the trail! I was afraid the ride might be 15 mph, head-to-tail poking along, but fortunately I was wrong! I have a quad ATV and dirt bike at home, so I have experience, and I had a great time. The only bummer was having to wait when other people got stuck, but not much the guides can do about that. If you have any choice of who goes with you, choose carefully!
Fantastic trip around the island and to the Waipi'o valley! Everything was so beautiful and really got to see the Big Island as a whole with amazing information about the landscape, volcanoes, vegetation, history, and so so much more. Our tour guide Lisa was super cool and kept conversation flowing and interesting the whole time. Props to her for being so knowledgeable about this Island! Would definitely recommend!
My children and I had such a great adventure day. All staff were friendly. I was especially impressed with how well trained the staff on the platforms are. The equipment and lines are well maintained!
The guides were great, Kyle, Greg, Brandon, and Alex. When I had an extended view on line 7 it was Greg that came to the rescue. Line 7 and 8 were the best. Thanks guys. Had an amazing Christmas morning zipping with yall.
We had a full day of fun and adventure. We did the ATV/Zipline Combo. ATVs were a blast with Zak and Casey. They made the time spent getting muddy definitely well worth it!! Kyle did an amazing job driving, and cooked a very delicious meal at the waterfall. Tiffany, Ethan, and Devon were our zipline guides. They helped make the day very memorable with all the Hawaiian stories and hilarious jokes. Everyone with the whole team was extremely friendly and kind. I highly recommend this group for some awesome adventures.
Took the stargazing tour with Jon. It was fun, interesting and amazing. I've never seen such a clear and crowded night sky, and Jon seemed to know something about every star and object up there. If you have any interest in astronomy this is a must do.
You wrote a review for KapohoKine Adventures One week ago 5.0 star rating 9/20/2017 Chris, our guide picked us for a wonderful day of adventure. First the black sand beach with a sunning turtle, then the bakery with wonderful sweet goodies, followed by a Kona coffee tour and tasting. We went thru a lava tube and then the winery with a great BBQ dinner. The night ended with the lava crater which created a beautiful glow and we could actually see some lava bubbling on top. The star filled sky was an added extra. Chris was so knowledgeable and his humor and great personality made our trip most enjoyable. I highly recommend this trip and make sure you ask for Chris. He was the best.
Let me start by saying I normally don't do daring fun stuff. But I have to say Sabrina Cantan from @KapohoKineAdventures assured me that I would have a great time and I did. My wife Sloane and I enjoyed the 4x4 RZR ATV Tour. We were celebrating our 6 month wedding anniversary. We had a blast. Once again thank you to Sabrina Cantan and staff @KapohoKineAdventures
ZACK AND KONOAH WAS PHENOMENAL!!!! Amazing amazing amazing!!!! Our first time ever doing this and they made the experience breathtaking!!! Eddy did our BBQ and made the experience one of a kind! Definitely booking again!!! As we say in NY FACTS!!! Great job Hilton! Keep this type of entertainment up! Polaris good job on providing good equipment!!
Terrific experience. The ziplines were long and then longer! All staff a lot of fun. Even learned a few new "What do you call..." jokes (thanks Tiffany) Quite a long wait on the platforms with maybe a few too many folks. But not an issue that detracted from the experience.
Zipline to paradise is awesome! Our guides were Paulina, Kendall and Brandon. They did really great job. Super friendly and professional! It was raining but the experience was amazing. They provide jackets and even got me a waterproof bag so my stuff kept dry. Henry was our driver and told history stories of Hawaii, which I think is amazing and interesting too.
Our Tour guide, John O. Was an incredible tour guide. He made the trip wonderful with his knowledge and his friendliness. He treated us all like Ohana and made everybody in the van feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this particular trip if you want to know the history on the island and see most of it in one day And make sure you ask for John O. We had high expectations for this trip and they exceeded them
We just went with this company, and they were terrific. Very organized, excellent gear, and the entire staff is a pleasure to be around and skilled at their work.
We booked two tours; Mauna kea Stellar and Evening volcano explorer. Both were amazing and had an awesome experience with these guys! The guides were very professional and informative. One of the guides (Crystal) was a professional astronomer and knew everything about the sky and the stars. The only down thing was, we didn't go to the summit of Mauna Kea which we are expecting and looking forward for a long period. I wish they had made this clear somehow in the description of the tour.
Went on the combo tour-ziplines, helicopter and volcano national park. Verne picked us up at 6am got back at 10pm. Massive day, expensive but really worth it. Verne gave us really interesting information. Ziplines were great fun the kids loved them. Helicopter trip was good...saw lots of steam and some lava flow. Went to Thurston lava tubes and then dinner at volcano house. At dusk the view of the caldera was amazing. Clear night so the glow was fantastic to see. Recommend this trip.
The best Zipline adventure I've been to yet! The views were spectacular and breath taking, and staff was very professional but also made sure that everyone had a blast. Loved it!
The ziplining was fantastic. Guess and Kuolay were fantastic. Highly recommend. There was a mistake with a mother activity and they made sure we were satisfied.
Great ATV tour with Kapokine. Our tour guides Greg & Jae were awesome! They definitely knew the best trails to take and made sure our group was always keeping up. We also ended the tour with waterfall swimming. 10/10!
This was the first time my husband and I braved zip lining. The staff was very conscientious about safety and they added a lot of fun. I would recommend this activity to anyone who wants adventure, stunning Hawaii views, and lots of fun. The company offers a 4 and 9 line experience. Definitely do the 9! It s only $70 more and it takes about 2.5 hours.
We took the Evening Volcano Tour and had a fabulous time. Our guide picked us up from the hotel and took us on a tour through the south part of the island ending with an evening viewing of the caldera.
Outstanding guides, panoramic views, exciting zip lines! Everything we hoped for and more. Best zip line tour on island, hands down! Mahalo for the adventure!!
Just finished our ziplining course & had so much fun. Brandon, Paulina, & Keli made the experience even more spectacular with their witty banter & upbeat personalities. The views were absolutely amazing. It's hard to describe in words just how breathtaking the vegetation, streams, & waterfalls were. Gabrielle was also a great tour van driver & was sure to keep us laughing during the ride out & back - I really appreciated her tips & suggestions for things to do in the area. Mahalo nui loa to the entire staff at KapohoKine Adventures Ziplining team! You made our trip.
This is an ABSOLUTE MUST DO! an amazingly fun and adventurous time as well as beautiful scenery! Pigs, peacocks, cows, sheep as well as waterfalls! you name it! Tour guides Zach, Jae, and Zaden killed it! Highly Recommend and will be returning for another ADVENTURE!!
On March 15th, I purchased a Groupon for $200 for two, or 50% off, for the nine hour Volcano Park Tour Hike & Glow. Before I purchased the Groupon at 3 a.m., I went to this tour operator's website to make sure they had space available for the tour we wanted the next day. Their calendar showed the tour was open available to book for the next three days.
Their website wouldn't let me book with a Groupon Voucher, and it instructed me to call them directly to redeem with 24 hours notice. The Tour Company had an office in our Hotel, at the Hilo Double Tree, so first thing in the morning I went down to book the tour for the next day with my Groupon Voucher. We waited in line for 15 minutes while another couple took forever asking questions about booking tours. There was only one rep.
When we finally got our turn, at first, their representative told me we were the only two who had booked the next day, and they needed a minimum of four people for the tour to operate. She told me we could book it, and hopefully within 24 hours at least two other people would book. She then asks if we could go another day? (We only had two days left, so our time was limited. ) We said we'd book and hope somebody else joined before morning. She then called somebody to inquire about booking us with our voucher, in the hopes they'd find another two people by the next day. When she got off the phone, the story changed. Now she told us the tour was not available the next day because they didn't have a bus to run it!
I then spent three hours of my morning wasting my vacation while trying to get a refund with Groupon that you must request within 24 hours of the purchase. (There is no number to call and talk to a human) In the meantime, my bank put a freeze on my debit card because they saw a transaction in Hawaii, although we'd been using the card for ten days here. Now Groupon is telling me I'll get a refund in ten days. So we'll see? (I admit, This tour company has no connection to Groupon, so that wasn't their fault with our refund trouble)
We then spent the next day trying to find another tour that didn't cost $400+ for two people. This tour company tried to sell me a shorter tour for $300, but I declined getting ripped off by a tour company. Because all the activities in Hawaii are way overpriced! Two people can barely do anything for less than $300 per activity. On a two week trip, this really adds up!
Well, we finally found another tour and went with them today. They only charged $100 per head for an eight hour tour. The kicker? When we got to Volcano Park, a big red van with this tour group's signage was there in the visitor lot! (I thought they weren't running the tour because there was no bus available? )
I might be wrong, but I theorize the lady was telling the truth that nobody else had booked the tour at the time we tried. I think when she called her superior and told her we had a voucher for $200 for their tour that usually costs $400, the superior must have told her to make an excuse up about not having a bus the next day instead of honoring our Groupon Voucher for $200.
I understand business is business and you've got to make a profit, but when we bought the Groupon, it said redeemable any day until July 2019.
If you're going to offer 50% Groupon deals, I really think the company should honor them. Not just decide you got too good of a deal, there's not enough people booked paying full price, so they're going to make up two different excuses as to why the tour won't be going that day. (Even though their own website showed it open and running the day we wanted to go)
I don't like being lied to! Would not recommend this company.
Had a ton of fun! A must do in the rain if you want to get muddy! Eddy and Jordan were amazing guides, very knowledgeable about the land and plants, very funny. They were also kind enough to take photos for each of the riders at scenic stops. Easy to learn if you are a beginner.
