Casual, decently priced, good service, and dat tempura though. 10/10
Dope food. Service is slower because it's a small sushi bistro. Expect that. The quality of the fish is excellent. The chefs know what they are doing.
Amazing food, decent sizes and price! One of the best izakayas on the island!
Small sushi restaurant that I recommend! Great selection of items from dons, sashimi, and Japanese traditional food.
Love their food. Quality is very good. Services sometimes lack of attention.
Great quality at decent price points! Their menu needs to be updated though, smells of sweat.
Great food! Service for the most part is good but too slow
Get there early, it s too small and fills up fast
If food would come out faster, I am sure they ll be able to take more covers
Thanks
White Dragon roll was unique and delicious. All fish was great quality and prepared well. The 10pm to closing happy hour is a fantastic deal. Plus you get a rad late 90s / early 2000s rock playlist.
The sushi is the only reason to come here. The decor and ambience is pretty terrible and i think the head chef loves 90 s post-grunge music because that s all they play, loudly.
Wonderful place! Very friendly service. And the food tastes amazing!
5 stars when you come for happy hour, which is from 10 till closing. This is a very popular spot during the night and parking can get pretty tight. There is a small parking lot right in front that will fill up quickly. We waited for about an hour for a party of 5. The hamachi carpacio, ahi tataki, bara chirashi, and the spicy ahi rolls are definite winners. You can get full from an order of the chirashi and a hamachi carpacio. At happy hour prices, the price and quality can't be beat.
Simply wonderful.Almost worth coming back to Hawaii for this place alone.Stellar!!!!:)
This place is great must try the onsen tamago. Great pupus and sushi.
The food, ambience, and service were all excellent!
Love their Happy hour awesome deals. Sefood shooters $5
Great food and drink. This place gets very busy so it's best to make reservations.
Excellent, delicious sushi and high quality Japanese dishes. A must try is the oyster shot.
Absolutely the best sushi on the island. Must stop here.
Food selection is small... hard to get a table.. I even had to wait for 50 minutes when I had reservation..
Wonderful food, but either get there right when they open or make reservations!
We came in during a busy time, but were seated fairly quickly because we were willing to be accommodating with our seating arrangement. Food was on point! I had my heart set on uni so we got the negi otoro ikura don and I opted for it with uni. They only had Japanese uni, so if you're not wanting to spend a lot, keep in mind the price hike with that Japanese uni! To add to the meal, we had hamachi carpaccio, vegetable tempura, and the crunchy tuna roll. All of which were really on point! I'll be back for sure!
Freshest, most delicious fish. I can never get enough of the hamachi carpaccio and the Otoro nigiri. I always recommend coming here to anyone who truly loves sushi.
Excellent sashimi and appetizers. First time going, so I couldn't try everything. But what I did have was high grade. Make reservations!
I love this place. Recommended by a fellow foodie and was pleasently surprised at just how delicious everything was. And 3 dollar Asahi on draft, perfect!
The food was amazing!!! Literally, one of the best places to get sushi in Honolulu. We were the first ones there and a line was already starting up before they were opened. Everything was great, especially the pork belly and uni. Even the wasabi tasted fantastic.
0ishi desu ne...the white peach torae special was refreshing
The gluttony bowl is sublime! It's sushi rice topped with toro, uni, ikura, grated yamaimo, and a poached egg. Totally decadent, totally worth coming back for.
The best Izakaya on Oahu! Every time I go there it s an experience. Great service, great vibe, and great food. Keep sending love and $$ their way during this shut down if able!
This has been on my list to try for years and I really don't know why I didn't make an effort to come sooner. Of all the izakayas I've ever been, the food here is one of my favorites.
Parking here was difficult because there are roughly only 12 spots and way more patrons. People ended up making their own parking spots
We did not have reservations but were seated right away at the bar. We really enjoyed watching him work and he was a great conversationalist.
We ordered the yuzu ichiko, the red dragon roll, the hamachi collar, and the ahi tartar. Everything was good but that hamachi collar was incredible. We had intended to start with these and order more but the hamachi was enough for both of us. It was rich and the spicy grated daikon helped to cut some of that fat.
I get very hangry when I have to wait for a while for food but I didn't mind here because the conversation and libations were phenomenal
Excellent selection of sashimi and unique sushi selection. Our favorite is sweet shrimp with fish eggs. Their donburi's are reasonably priced and our favorite is smoked pork. They are always busy so recommend reservations or be prepared to wait.
Very comfortable and fresh sushi for reasonable price.
I love this place!!!
Food is on point, prices are reasonable, and service is excellent! What more can you want right?!
Lots of value for the price you pay & the quality is amazing!
Quick tip: CALL AHEAD TO MAKE RESERVATIONS! This place is really THAT good where they might be fully booked for the night so don't get your hopes up too high if you try to walk in!
Their uni ikura don is the best in my opinion. Tried other places but can't compare to this one.
Fresh fish, yummy pupus, you can tell the chef takes great pride in his work, perfection
Everything is good here! Heard that there s a late night happy hour that starts at 10pm, which is one of the best deals and the most popular in Waikiki.
Great Food!!! Spot on, thats comming from a chef. Service polite but very SLOW. Eat here only if you have no where else to be.
If $$$ is not an issue, den dis place is da bomb because I like to order about 8 different things each time I go cause almost everything is mind blowin and everything is good.
Best small plate food to eat while drinking I've had so far. Staff and service was awesome. Parkings a little rough but not bad if you go at the right time. Central Pacific bank across the street should have parking
this place is amazing. Denifitely order otoro sashimi and negitoro don. So fresh and it just melt in your mouth. The tamago salad is the best sald I ever had. Btw don't recommend kimchi poke and pita buka???(spelling) the grilled pork slice too oily
Great sushi and fresh fish for a great price. Small space so make reservations or come expecting to wait. Normally they will have a few extra tables for two people open but don't expect it. Especially on weekends. Everything I've tried so far is really good with no disappointments. The sashimi here is normally really fresh and fatty for a super reasonable price. They're not fancy by any means but a great little sushi restaurant. I love coming here if I want good rolls, bowls, and fish and even deep fried stuff
This place is dynamite. Serving izakaya style Japanese food, which are basically tapas, there is a small plate to please any palate. Just a great dining experience, I got lucky and walked in and found a seat at the sushi bar. I would recommend a reservation and visiting often.
One of the best Japanese restaurant in Honolulu! The food is delicious and fresh, reasonable prices, served on time, and good service.
Been here several times and we've never been disappointed. Sashimi is always great! We've tried a lot of dishes over several visits and all them have been good. We've always ordered the Omakase Sashimi for two and their fish choices are good, especially with O'toro and Fatty Hamachi! But then again everything on the platter is awesome. With several wait staff on hand, service has been excellent. If you plan on dining here, bring an appetite and make reservations!
Food was good. But the service was bad. They never came to us even they saw that I was waving. We were sitting at the counter so a chef definitely knew that servers were rude but he never tried to help us.
Thank you Yelp for reminding me that I frequent this spot more than a few times and it deserves a review while I keep going back!
Reason is simple: It's a welcoming place with fresh sashimi, diverse variety of menu items (from fry to grill to roll to nigari to sashimi to ochazuke to dessert), good customer service, and most importantly (drum roll) i don't have to wait 3 months for a reservation! On a weekday, I can easily walk in and grab a seat. On a weekend, I can make a reservation hours ahead and get lucky 95% of the time. The rest of the 5%? Probably everyone wants to eat there the same time as me. The restaurant is small, but they do what they can to accommodate their guests. Most of the time the owner/ chef/ master (Hideyoshi) is behind the counter orchestrating the kitchen. As for the menu selections, I have yet to have a bad dish there. I usually end up trying something different depends on my mood. Thanks Yelp again for the reminder coz I will go back for more than a few times for sho!
Another one of my favorite spots for ono Japanese food, sushi and sashimi. Quality and creativity here.
Service can get slow when it gets busy but awesome food and staff
Service has always been solid. The sashimi is good, and they have a nice variety of cooked dishes.
Good food, sometimes a long wait. Make reservations if possible
Parking: The parking lot has enough spots and I usually never had trouble finding a spot. (I come at odd hours though). Come early just in case!
Interior: Really brings me back to the time I spent in Tokyo. The walls have many gorgeous paintings as well. They have an open kitchen where you can watch all the action if you so choose to sit at the sushi counter.
*I suggest calling ahead for a reservation or to check how busy it is as it can get really crowded! Or come early because during happy hour the place is packed!
I arrived Wednesday night around 9:15 and was seated quickly.
*Happy hour starts at 10p.m
I wanted to take advantage of the happy hour prices so we chose some starter items/drinks while we waited. For the drinks CHU-HAI one of my favorite things to drink in Japan. A yummy sweet cocktail with many different fruit flavors.
Food: I started off with the mini ramen which had a nice flavor to it. And of course the soft boiled egg which is a must have! The Asari miso soup has a nice clam taste throughout. As for the sushi rolls the hideyoshi roll was yummy. I think the highlights were the ahi tataki and the pork belly don! Ahi was nice and fresh and the sauce completed it the don was huge for its HH price. Big pieces of pork a yummy soft egg and a piece of daikon which brings it together. I liked mixing the egg with the rice and putting a piece of daikon with pork and taking a nice big mouthful.
Great shareable: The truffle edamame! Omg I could eat this forever. I literally ordered 4 servings for myself.
Service: Top notch helped me choose my order very knowledgable on the menu and overall great. Bri definitely helped make the night am enjoyable one.
Overall: Excellent place from the food down to the service! Hide makes excellent food and I highly recommend you yelpers to experience it yourself.
Nice, comfortable open dining area, good for small groups. Specialty sushi roll, chicken karaage, and sashimi dish were all very good. Limited parking so be prepared. Go on an off peak hour.
This number has been disconnected. After placing an order on their website and waiting over an hour until after their closing time they had still not delivered. I don't know if they are still in business, but if they are, they need to update their information and get on top of processing orders.
Love it! The sushi is always delicious and fresh! They have a nice selection of alcoholic as well. They are most famous for their late night happy hour starting at 10:30pm I believe. There is a good amount of parking as well which is nice.
My absolute favorite dish is their Hamachi Carpaccio. It alone is worth the trip into town. The hint of truffle in the sauce...delicious!
Highly suggest booking in advance. Honestly not as great as what we expected... not bad, of course. Especially the hamachi Kama (fried yellowfin chin?). Uni with salmon roe was also not bad
Food was great, but we had reservations for 7:30 and didn't get seated until after 8. Also, service was slow. They could use another server.
I went there and the guy told me to go away because it is busy. I don t mind waiting and do not need to have happy hour but the instructions is confusing. I don t understand why there is no other people waiting but he told me it will be full house at happy hour and we are 45 mins before happy hour. There is no clear instructions and poor communication. We are trying to eat there but we re told to go away and not even allowed to wait.
Great late night menu and excellent value. Service is sometimes slow but still worth it for the food!
Came for happy hour. Everything was tasty. Everything came out at a decent time except for 1 of our dishes came out when we we completely done.
Tasty happy hour
Late night food, can't have expectation on the quality
Incredible food, friendly service, and comfortable environment.
Food was very good, delicious. But I do not want go back there. I did not feel welcome, I do not know if the place is just for japonese people... I asked help to the waitress, asking about the rolls, but she was rude, she did not help at all, the MENU does not have pictures, what did not help. The food took long time to get done. Also the decoration of the place is not beatiful, it does not bring a oriental atmosphere that I was especting.
Delicious late Happy Hour options. Cheaply priced, but very well made. Hamachi carpaccio is a must!
First time here and I'll be back. Food was great and service was on point. My family had little bit of everything.....steak, sashimi, tempura, sushi rolls and more. Good time to go is happy hour 10p till closing.
My favorite place to get tekamaki (handroll). Their Negi Toro Tekamaki is sooooo worth the wait. The excitement from hearing the chef knife chopping the Toro makes your mouth water. My second favorite is the Glutony Don, slimy by texture, but full of finest fresh ingredients. Pricey but worth it.
The atmosphere is casual and noisy.
Beware...the parking is horrible and you may get parking in front of the restaurant if your lucky. And don't forget to call and make reservations, they get full at rush hour.
Sushi orders take a while at this place but worth the wait. Hot plates come out quick.
Good atmosphere, friendly service.
Top of the line quality of fish.
Reservation's recommend.
Awesome food, good prices, friendly staff... Only issue is with parking
