Kanata Optometry Center Review

I would recommend Kanata Optometry Centre to all. They have excellent Doctors and Opticians. Dr. Roberts took time to explain my eye health to me and arrange testing to monitor my eye health. This was all part of my eye exam that also included a new prescription for my glasses and contact lenses. I was also impressed with the selection of glasses and convenience of having all of this under one roof. Thanks to all the staff that made my experience so pleasant.

I always have a pleasant experience with Kanata Optometry centre. The staff are kind and helpful. They always have great selection for glasses and are knowledgeable about their products. I now live out of town, but I always make a yearly trip to Ottawa just to have my eyes examined. My grandparents have also come here for eye emergencies and have always been given great care. I definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic service. In addition to very professional care, they have quickly and graciously performed minor repairs on my glasses, for no charge. It's the little things that make a big difference sometimes!

Despite my initial bad experience I must be honest as I was in my first review. The optometrists here are professional in how the approach their customers and how they operate as a business. However I can t deny the fact that they made a mistake and there was some real miscommunication. This is normal, everyone makes mistakes sometimes and I forgive Kanata Optometry for what happened. It is unfortunate but in the end the issue was rectified and they did honour what was said to me. They also were able to provide me a new set of glasses within the day which made up for things as I live 5 hours away.

I have been a patient of Dr. Roberts for years and have always found him to be exceptionally professional every time I have been to Kanata Optometry.

Additionally, every staff member serving me has always been polite, attentive and helpful.

My experiences at Kanata Optometry have always been excellent from the time I walk in the door to the time I leave.

Our entire family have been patients of Dr. Dick for over 20 years. During this time he has provided us with outstanding eye care. He is a compassionate and well informed professional. He was able to guide our aging family member to a good surgeon for cataract and macular degeneration issues within a timely manner. He never pushes product on his patients. We consider ourselves in good hands with Dr. Dick.

I have been coming to Kanata optometry since I was a kid. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Prices are good. Would highly recommend.

I wanted to book an appointment for redness in the eye. They say they won't take new patients and that I should go to ER or General hospital.

I had really great service here for years with various optometrists (mine would occasionally retire or be unavailable and I'd be switched to a new one). However I really cannot say the same about the front desk staff.

Even years after moving out on my own and updating my phone numbers to reflect this they still released my information to my parents without my consent - which then resulted in my never being notified my contacts were in. When I tried to follow up and pick them up, they had no record to show where they were or what happened. It was a huge pain - and furthermore if it hadn't happened I never would have realized that they were still providing my parents access to my file 11 years after it became illegal for them to do so without my consent. Luckily I'm on good terms with my parents and this only caused inconvenience rather than an actual risk to my safety.

When I contacted them to follow up on this and raise my concerns over their privacy policy my concerns were utterly dismissed by their staff - including the office manager whom it was escalated to who was downright rude. I understand that only inconvenience not harm occurred, but what if it had been a violent ex, or estranged parent? They need to update their privacy policies and verify before they loosely release private information. Their total lack of concern with this has caused me to change offices.

I have been coming here since I was a kid and Dr. Dick has always been amazing. He is so calm and relaxed. Today though I definitely needed to leave a review because while I always get a babysitter, I found myself without one and had to bring my 13 month old son with me. He immediately started crying and I hate disturbing other people with a crying child, but Dr. Dick was very relaxed about it and some of the staff walked my son around the office while I had my check up. Dr. Dick made sure to be quick yet efficient as always and despite my son crying for most of the appointment, all the staff had smiles on their faces. Everyone went above and beyond today and I couldn't be more thankful!

All I wanted was my PD measurement without the obligation to also purchase a set of glasses. I was in and out in under 10 minutes with no appointment and only had to shell out $26.

I've since returned since I was interested in trying contact lenses for the first time and the experience was just as painless as when I wanted the PD measurement. Both the optometrist and contact lens fitter were very knowledgable and thorough, while also being very friendly and patient. Surprisingly it looks like purchasing contacts directly from the clinic will be cheaper than getting them online which is a nice bonus as that means they are also able to check the fit while I have them in, and answer any specific questions about my actual lenses.

Visiting this centre for over 10 years now, I am pleased to see constant progress toward the best customer experience, expert care and higher standards of quality. Doctors, optometrists, lab technicians and front desk staff are always available and accommodating. Latest addition of on-site lens cutting machines, made possible prescription glasses lens replacement in just one hour. The variety of brand name frames, the quality of available lenses together with the expert care and polite personnel, makes this centre to stand out of the crowd.

The whole family started going to that clinic. At first all is well the optometrist we were seeing. When he got busy we had to see Dr. LeClair. She is horrible. The 1st incident it was for my mother in-law. My wife called in saying she would be a few min late. They said that's fine just come. After getting there, my wife was told they can't be seen because they were late.

2nd incident is for my 8 year old son. After an unsuccessful eye-drop attempt in one his eyes, the ones that burn. He's 8, in pain and crying. He was willing to try again as it the eye drop worked in one eye and not the other. He figured let it burn on more time in one eye .... guess what, good old Dr. LeClair said, well it is getting too late now and that we'd need to make another appointment. She refused to continue the exam. My wife and I were furious. We called the clinic afterwards and complained to the office manager. I doubt that does anything. In any case now they've lost 6 patients. What a joke of a clinic.

My son eyes hurt him for the remainder of the evening. It was very hard to explain to him what happened. It is going to be even harder for him to do this test again and have these eye-burning drops administered again in both eyes when we see a different optometrist.

If you are considering contacts, I recommend seeing Bernice at Kanata Optometry Centre.

She is fun, patient, and knowledgeable. She cheerily explained to me several methods of inserting and removing my lenses. She helped me insert and remove the lenses three times in less than an hour (at another centre, it took me over six long hours without success).

Not only was Bernice relaxed, but the entire centre was. The training room door stayed open as I was trained. Touching my eyes was therefore less scary, since I was not in a tiny, quiet, serious room.

I had a lot of fun there, although I have always been scared of touching my eyes. I recommend this place, especially to those with children or who are nervous about this kind of thing.

Tremendous, amazing, so professional and experienced; these are only a few words that try to reflect how impressed I am with Kanata Optometry Centre , 105-99 Kakulu Road, Kanata. Individuals like Dr. Law and Maithrey are truly exceptional in their individual roles; Dr. Law identified an early problem with my retina, which was repaired the next day (a separate review will be given for the Retina Centre, Carling Avenue). Maithrey, expertly found frames that perfectly matched my request/preferences. Truly remarkable experience; truly incredible service and expertise!! Thank you

My kids and I went to see Dr. Spielman at Kanata Optometry Centre. She was very patient and very informative. I pre-booked our next follow up and feel confident in our new optometrist's care and am looking foward to our next visit in January. Thank you Dr. Spielman for such a great experience.

I've been going to Kanata Optometry Centre for the past couple of years. Very nice staff. Dr. LeClair is very friendly and takes the time to explain what she is doing, what she is looking for, what is going on with my eyes, etc. I have also bought my glasses there and when there was a problem with the frames after having had them for well over a year they handled it no questions asked. Highly recommend.

My wife and I have both been going here for several years. In all that time, we have never been kept waiting beyond our appointment time.
Both my wife and I are patients of Mike Roberts, one of the optometrists in this clinic. Mike is very professional and thorough, but quite laid back and informal. This is a very big deal for my wife. She has some issues with her eyes that require a very thorough exam more frequently than the norm. As she is quite nervous in situations involving the men in white coats - to the point of needing to take sedatives before even routine exams - the fact that Mike keeps things low key and relaxed is a huge relief and change from my wife's previous experiences.
Recently, my wife had something of an urgent need to see an optometrist and Mike was not in the office that day. Dr Lorenda Smith was able to squeeze my wife in between appointments. Even though my wife was quite nervous, both because of the problem and because she was not seeing Mike, the exam went smoothly owing in no small part to Dr Smith's "bed side manner".
I don't want to wax too poetic about this clinic, but over the years, we have interacted with many of the staff. We have never been anything but completely satisfied with our treatment. They are uniformly friendly and professional.
We are very lucky to have this resource in Kanata.

Doctor was great but admin staff booked my followup appt on top of someone else's appt and then argued with me instead of trying to resolve the issue to my schedule. "Training" session for contact lens care was pointless and not worth the $70 on top of the $100+ exam fee; putting contacts in while sitting in a poorly lit booth while someone else washed their hands behind me ... Ugh. Complete waste of my time. Won't be returning.

Got me in right away when I had an issue with a non stop watering eye, made sure everything was ok and let me know how to resolve it on my own. I was a little put off by the cost of the service when I was only in there for less than ten minutes. ($75 bucks!) He gave me a quick eye test since I hadn't been in a long time but did not give me my results so that, again, seemed a little off. Reception was friendly but since they were the last people to see me they could have mentioned I had a large ring of yellow around my eye from the exam dye so I could have cleaned up a bit before heading out into the general public looking like that.

I've been a client at Kanata Optometry Centre for decades. Their service is always excellent and they have done an outstanding job pivoting their protocols due to COVID.

I recently saw Dr. Annie Micucci for a very overdue eye exam. She was simply AMAZING! The most thorough eye exam and she explained her findings in a way I could easily understand. A very passionate and caring healthcare provider, who I won't hesitiate to refer family and friends too. I honestly don't think you can do better than Kanata Optometry Centre!

Dr Spielman took care of both myself and my son and I have to say that it was by far the best experience I have had with an optometrist. She is friendly, professional and very informative. I was particularily impressed in the way she engaged my son and kept him interested in the process. I certainly would recommend Dr Spielman to anyone who is looking for an optometrist!

My wife and I and our 3 kids have gone to Kanata Optometry for years. 2 of our kids wear glasses from there and one is just starting contacts and we have never had any problem. They have great doctors there, my wife and I see one and our kids see another doctor, all are very professional, and the staff have always been very friendly and helpful. Will recommend to anyone.

Always a pleasure to deal with the staff there. Problems are always solved with exceeding the expectations rating.
The front desk people are a little tough (assertive, less friendly) but at the end we receive an excellent treatment by the opticians and the optometrists.

I purchased a pair of high end Nikon progressive lenses over two years from here....excellent lenses. I noticed recently that the lenses had some smudging. Met with Chris and he determined the lenses were damaged probably due to heat and needed to be replaced and were over the 2 year warranty period. Chris requested the replacements anyways and they were approved...saving me big dollars! Great customer service...thanks Chris!

I went to Kanata Optometry for a routine eye exam. Dr. Franzmann did a very thorough exam and gave me a prescription for eyeglasses that are perfect. She also referred me to an Ophthalmologist for an abnormality that she noticed during the exam. Very grateful for her excellent care!

My mother takes eye exam here every year. However, I just had my personal experience with them recently. Compared with any optometrists I had before, they really did much better checks on all parts of my eyes; should come here years ago.

We as a family have been dealing with Kanata Optometry for over 25 years and have received nothing but excellent, honest personal customer service from the front desk through the whole office including the final purchase of glasses. Great company to deal with. Definitely a 5+ star rating.

My experience at Kanata Optometry was fantastic! Everyone were so nice and welcoming. During these tough, stressful times, they made me feel important and took great care of not only me, but everyone else around me. Everything was well cleaned and safe. I would 100% recommend going to see the people there!

I brought my 2 boys (aged 9 and 11) for eye exams in September and the entire experience was great! My sons had absolutely NO interest in going and were dragging their heels (one fearful, one totally disinterested). On our arrival, the front desk staff were incredibly nice and efficient. We were seen at our appointment time and Dr. Amanda Spielman had a wonderful way with my guys. They were treated so patiently and age appropriate explanations were given to their questions. They both really got into the testing process and, in the end, actually said it was FUN! We'll definitely be returning here for all future eye exams.

Dr. Spielman was fantastic with my son! She explained everything clearly and had my son come back a month later to see if any adjustments were needed. Great service.

Today was the day i found out i had a hole in the retina of my right eye. I highly recommend Dr. Amy Law, shes very understanding and willing to answer any question you have.

My experience purchasing variable focus eyeglasses was exceptionally good.
I can't imagine how the optician and staff could have been better in anyway.
I'll certainly return for future purchases.

I love this centre! It's friendly staff, it's assistance to your needs and general service to you as their patient. They offer free glasses adjusting and for a few dollars can refill your glasses cleaner with your old bottle! They have a great selection of frames to choose from for the whole family too!

My whole family has been going to Kanata Optometry for many years and we've always had incredible service. Right from always being pleasantly greeted when walking in, to the optometrists and the retail service. One stop shop and great value. I'm even able to order my replacement contact lenses through there website!! Can't imagine going anywhere else :)

The Kanata Optometry Centre has the best quality and service I have experienced. I am a patient of Dr. Roberts, I have a very difficult prescription and they have made for me the best glasses I ever wore. Highly recommend them.

The service was great, very nice staff but how nice is the experience after finding out you have been screwed over. I am originally from Montreal and I made appointments for my hubby and me, we weren't able to get same day appointments but that's ok. I thought eye exams were all standard price as it is in Quebec, but found out the expensive way that it is different in Ontario. They charged hubby $120 for a regular eye exam and because I wear contacts, my eye exam was $160. We got quotes on glasses with the cheapest frames being $79, hubby was quoted $500 and I was quoted $550. Then came my contact lens order. I was advised to purchase for one year rather than six months so I would save money. Apparently six months would be $140 and one year would be $240 so I chose one year. Once the contacts were in I went to pick them up and all of a sudden, they say $295 please, there is an extra disbursement fee and they toss in cleansing solution for extra $ too. I argued that I was told $240 so they removed the cleansing solution and said it is now $260 and then they handed me a $40 mail in rebate so at least I will save some. I decided to call Costco Optical...found out eye exams are $75, there is an extra charge for contact lens fitting, but if you purchase contact lenses, they include it in the $75. So basically, we paid an extra $130 just for the eye exams, I don't know how much the contacts would be, but no doubt cheaper, no wonder they were booking our next appointment 2 years in the future. I feel like a sucker. I recommend that you all try Costco, that's where I will be going from this day forward, going to check out quotes on glasses soon too.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience of ordering 2 pairs of glasses. It takes many days to get the glasses when they have been ordered. On top of that, they created a pair with the wrong prescription and the 2nd pair that I specifically asked for no RX prescription, they put a RX on them. I wanted them for Christmas. I'll be surprised if I get them before 2017 the way things are going.
