First of all: I am describing our stay from December 28th to December 29th, 2018.
Check-in: The lobby was small and crowded. There was chaos and you didn't know exactly when it was your turn. Unfortunately, only two of three counters were occupied, which made the waiting time even longer. When it was our turn, we were faced with an insecure lady who did not speak German properly and mumbled. No friendly reception, no "Did you have a pleasant journey", nothing.
Room: We had a Skyline Suite on the 17th floor. The room was nice, but on closer inspection, there were unfortunately some hygienic deficiencies, such as a totally dirty shower head.
The view was great, as was the size of the room. Another big minus point, however, goes to the bed. In my opinion, the mattress was so worn out that it was almost inclined towards the middle. Improvements urgently need to be made here.
Service: The guys at the entrance did their job well. They were kind and attentive. Our breakfast service only spoke broken German, which I personally also consider a NoGo (simple questions were not understood).
After checking out and leaving, we thought we had left our key in the room. So I called the hotel again and after several attempts reached a lady to whom I described the situation. Your sloppy answer: "What should I do for you now?" I then told them to please write down my details and notify me as soon as house keeping was in the room. The recall did not take place.
Service all in all bad.
Breakfast: A wide selection of international dishes is available. The quality of the food (apart from the baked goods) was good.
Conclusion:
I can't say the hotel is bad per se. The rooms are beautiful in themselves and the location right on the Zeil is simply unbeatable.
But I think the hotel is simply designed for a very special customer base (Russians and Arabs) and if you can't count yourself, you are simply wrong here.
In addition, you have to be able to feel comfortable at breakfast surrounded by botox and fur jackets. As a normal, average German couple, you are out of place here.
