I love this place! The only restaurant my 5, 8, and 12 yr old kiddos agree on. There is something that everyone likes. We have been here 4 times. This is definitely going to become a regular place for us. The wait staff is outstanding and fast. The food is delicious everytime. If you like lamb, do yourself a favor and order the lamb chops!! Always delicious, always cooked to perfection. My kiddos usually get the steak, and my husband has gotten that also, the prime rib, and the rabbit..... ALWAYS GOOD!!

Great place, one of a kind. Coming from Ca was surprised by how much food they give you. Limited vegan menu, but they had vegan soup, salad, french fries.. prob other stuff too I'm not vegan didn't make a note.
The menu is family style, when you get soup salad, side, coffee, ice cream and half a bottle of wine with your main order.
Everything was good, even kids ate there
The whole place is rather interesting starting with decor. Had dollar bills on the ceiling, bright Xmas decorations, very authentic look overall

Food is excellent! Cod was the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked. Friends had steak, it was delicious and also cooked perfectly. I agree with the other reviewer about the beans. They were lacking flavor (specifically, they needed fat--bacon grease or butter). Waitress was a little surly...we tried to warm her up by joking and being grateful but no luck. If it weren't for her, would be 5 stars.

My family has been going here for years and will continue to do so for as long as we can. Great food, great drinks and even better people that run the joint.if you have a chance to grab the rabbit, take advantage

Curious place that locals love! Eclectic menu with pigs feet and sweetbreads offered. Lunch offers steak sandwich that's out of this world. It's a STEAK sandwich! If you get it with garlic...it comes with lots of GARLIC! But it is possible to enjoy sandwich without eating all the garlic served with sandwich. Best if you both order same thing! Reasonable prices. Next time will try Basque family style meal.

Just driving through and my wife has celiac disease and can't eat gluten or wheat. This makes going out to eat nearly impossible. J T Basque does a family style dinner that will knock your socks off. Most everything is gluten free outside of the bread (of course) and the soup. However, give them a 24 hr heads up and they can accommodate you. The owner is very active around the restaurant and the atmosphere is family oriented. I cannot express how happy I was when my wife could sit down and enjoy herself without worry.

This was our first experience eating Basque period. We didn't know what to expect when we first entered and had no menu to go off of. The waitress came around and confirmed we wanted wine. We said yes, of course. Next we told her we have no clue what we got into. She explained what dished were being served for the night, but being two kids on a budget, we wanted prices. There was no menu and she never quoted prices. It was also a birthday dinner for my boyfriend so I made a decision to roll with it, for a Nevada experience. To add to our ghost tab, we added on some cocktails of a Picon Punch. More to add to the Nevada experience. They were a bit smaller than what we have seen on the internet, but very enjoyable. The food was outstanding and in the end, each meal was around $26! We shared steak and lamb dishes with all the sides to add up to this. At the end, our waitress also came by to sing him happy birthday solo. We had an amazing first visit and we will be back!

TJ Basque is a family style ethnic-ish restaurant....

TJ Basque is a family style ethnic-ish restaurant. Food is brought to the table and everyone digs in.

The good: Friendly staff. The bar area looks like fun. Appetizer soup, beans, family stew, and desert.

The bad: my steak, ordered as medium rare, came out raw, cool in the center, and leather tough. Despite the friendliness of the staff, we ran out of water half way through and did not see a refill.

Overall, not really my deal. Maybe we caught them on a bad night.

Old school, nothing fancy but the food was awesome! Great soup, salad, beans and stew to start with. I had the pigs feet and tripe that was delicious! ( they offer steak, lamb and fish too). Meal also came with a bottle of wine ice cream and coffee all for less than $30. Definitely worth the trip!

Great home-town cooking! Family style in every way, and absolutely worth the visit. Come over from Tahoe, or make a day of it in Carson City and include the J T Basque Bar & Dining Room in your schedule. Plan to eat what they bring to the table and plan to enjoy it!
