Long time area resident, if you gave up on Johnny's years ago because the food and service was hit or miss.... Go back and you will re-find what used to bring you there. Food is delicious, well presented (yes, even for a diner) and service is good.

Eggs for classic Benny were hard cooked. Asked for extra hollandaise and didn't get it. Ordered a side of hash for $4.95 and got less than 1/2c. Doughnuts were soaked in grease. Really disappointing.

Love this place!! The atmosphere is so retro and the food is great. There's a ton to choose from and we will conquer the lunch and dinner menus when we've conquered breakfast! Wait is usually reasonable, even on Saturday morning

Friendly diner in Newton Center with a large menu. This place is very family friendly. Lots of good sandwiches and breakfast served all day. The walls are lined with old class pictures. You can walk here easily from the green D line, and there is parking around the square and a large pay lot in the center.

Best diner coffee around! I have been to a lot of diners and this one keeps me coming back. It is a nice neighborhood spot with familiar faces and consistently good service. The food is great and they have a number of menu items to choose from. The best deal is the breakfast sandwich that I could eat every day! Hands down though, the coffee is what keeps me coming back!

A classics for anyone in newton. Eating at johnny's is like being in your mother's kitchen except nothing is burnt. It's the perfect spot for a causal meal or coffee date. The matzoh ball soup is spectacular.

OUTDOOR HEATED DINING! Johnny's is a great diner - completely packed in the Before Times, and now in the pandemic the carefully spaced outdoor tables are still filled. Waiters wear masks and provide sanitizer wipes (appreciated - it lets me be as scrupulous with cleaning as I like). Good standing heater between tables - I had on a dress on a cold day so grabbed a blanket from my car.

They have standard diner food (omelettes, burgers, donuts, salads) with some nice hipster touches (homemade donuts, nitro cold brew coffee, craft beer), and Jewish inflected items that fit the neighborhood (fried potato latkes, Israeli salad).

Very good for breakfast and lunch meetings. Good variety on menu. Sometimes there is a wait to get a booth as opposed to a table.

I particularly like their soups. When served in their very large bowls, it can be a lunch by itself.
