After passing by this restaurant weekly, we decided to finally give it a try. If you're looking for diner and deli food, this is your place! We had a combination of matzo ball soup, veggie chili and a hamburger. The quality and portion was great. I only wish I had room in my stomach to order the M & M pancakes. They looked absolutely delicious! I guess we'll have to go back soon! Our waiter....unfortunately, I can't remember his name, looked liked a high school student. He was excellent and had a great attitude.

I stopped in to Johnny's on a holiday they pretty busy for it being a 11am on Monday. We were placed on a wait, the host quickly moved the wait down, and we were sat in about 10 minutes

I ordered the Buffalo Mac & Cheese. It was very good, not overly spicy but had a lot of blue cheese crumbles in it, good for my tastes. The dish itself wasn't very big.

My wife had the "Gone Bananas" dish which was basically banana bread French toast with a chocolate drizzle, sliced bananas, and whipped cream. It was very rich in taste, but delicious.

Our Server was a young woman by the name of Liza. I was very impressed with her attentiveness and courtesy, and I would recommend that if she's available ask for her.

Overall: I would recommend this diner based on price, service and taste of food.

Cons, there is no parking, bring quarters to feed the meter.

Keep up the good work :)

Food was delicious! I like salsa with my omelette and I know it was freshly made with onions, peppers and cilantro seriously tasted garden fresh!
Servers were accommodating and friendly. Place is
Clean and pleasantly appealing. It was crowded and I sat at the counter to avoid the wait. Please go you will not be disappointed

It was good... Homemade potato chips are delicious. 'white' fish sandwich was ok, fish had no flavor, so have no idea what kind of fish it was.. my son wasn't impressed with the smoked salmon blt. Regular blts were huge and I was told good.

Classic diner food at reasonable prices. Love the atmosphere here, too as it's casual and comfortable. All day brunch and breakfast items and an inexpensive kids menu, too. Not too many healthy/light options but the salads are nice.

Fell in love with Johnny's when we lived in Newton Center in the 90's. We live a couple of hours away now, but it's still the best and we go out of our way to eat there whenever we go to, or anywhere near, Boston. New owners have done a great job of adding new menu items. We do miss the lady hanging from the ceiling and the turkey dinner. I'm sure the lady is gone for good, but maybe the turkey dinner could return?

This place is amazing! Great food and great atmosphere! Everyone is very friendly and the service is fast. The mini milshakes are too die for and the burgers with fries taste like heaven. They also have really good corn beefed hash that is home made. It is in heaven in my mouth. I will definitely be going back there very soon.

Johnny's is a Newton institution, started by Johnny Furst in the 1980s. The menu is upscale diner, at very reasonable prices. Our favorites include lime rickeys, huevos rancheros, frappes, and black bean burgers.

Pretty good lunch spot. Never went here in the 10+ years I lived in Newton, but am glad that I did. I went for the omelette, which you should not do if you come here. From everything else we tried, the chicken + waffles are delicious. The salmon + egg was also absolutely great as well, but the best item according to the table is probably The Semi.

The eggs are cooked extremely well here. The coffee was OK (as expected). The wait was 30 minutes, which was a lot longer than I thought.

TIP: Make sure to call ahead - I did, but still had to wait 30 minutes.

Pretty popular place but quick service so not much of a wait time but try to get in early. Do not miss the mini milkshake. Decent portion size, if you are used to eating big portions you might need two entrees.

The food here is great, and fits in very well with their retro 20th century atmosphere. Good prices and a great menu selection make this place one of my go-to locations anytime I'm too lazy to make breakfast myself.

I had to go to Newton center as one of my doctor's nearby. I've been to Newton only a few times and I liked the atmosphere there. After my appointment, I decided to go exploring. I picked Langly Road. I stopped at Johnny's Luncheonette. I went in and the waitress directed me to a table. For my lunch, I chose breakfast food, my favorite. Don't judge me, but I ordered the 18 wheeler. I didn't think much about that because at another place, I get the the
Tri-state. So I'm not exactly svelt! I knew I could diet the next day, right? Well, let me tell you the plate was huge! I knew I'd end up taking a lot of it home, ya, right. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, cooked the way I liked it, and home fries. It was delicious, let me tell you. Of course I had to look at the dessert menu. I ordered a hot fudge sundae; I wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere made me feel as though I were back in time and I loved that. The service was spectacular. The waitress was so attentive, I couldn't believe it. She had a huge smile on her face, and came to my table a number of times. You could tell she was very genuine, not phoney to get a big tip. She was one of the best waitresses I've ever known. She was the real deal. So that's it. I'll go back for sure. I really enjoyed my time in Newton; I'm looking forward to going back again.

Johnny's Luncheonette is a reimagined diner that serves leveled-up traditional diner fare. The menu is full of creative ideas, plates are tasty, and customers should expect to pay a premium for the menu upgrades over a traditional greasy spoon diner. I would suggest getting the coffee milkshake.

I ordered their food online once. The quality was excellent so I decided to go there and eat. A waitress took my order wrong and tried to blame me of not knowing all types of the dishes. Excuse me? She just assumed what I ordered and didn't even bother to double check. No manner at all. Thanks for ruining my weekend. If I crave any dishes here in the future, I would order online.

Just hadbrwafast there at 12:30. Fantastic that they serve breakfast alk day. Counter server, nice young lady was attentive and polite. Service was quick. Problem, i ordered eggs Benedict. Eggs were undercooked, the white portion was clear and runny. The hollandaise sauce was so thin that the ham had a stronger flavor. I might try it again fir a regular breakfast someday, just not now.

Super nice staff, sat at the counter and the waitress gave us a little oreo shake taste. The place had a real old school diner feel. The food was awesome. Split two dishes with my friend because we couldn't decide on what to get individually. The buratta avacado toast and Waverly were both equally delicious. Clean plate club for us. Definitely will be going back.

Awesome place with great diner-style food but with a creative twist. Been here many times and always bring friends here who always love it. Everything is amazing from the milkshakes to the omelettes to the deli sandwiches and more unique meals like a bacon and egg sandwich on a latke!

I get breakfast here all the time and it never disappoints (with the semi-exception of the Huevos Rancheros, but I am originally from the SW so I am a snob). I particularly recommend the Waverly and the Green Eggs and Ham. Also they carry amazing lemonade.

Classic American diner. Breakfast lunch or dinner, you can t go wrong. Yummy sweet potato fries, French toast, omlettes, burgers of all sorts, fish and chips, salmon dinner, lots of kids choices. Consistent and like home-made...did I mention the coleslaw?

Let me start with saying the service is quick to seat you with a smile and the setting had its charm for a downtown diner restaurant. I am not able to rate the food as within 5 minutes of sitting down at our table a rodent walked over our feet. The waiter apologized, but I was very surprised since it was the middle of the day. As I looked around I even noticed rodent grease stains on the corner of walls and floors. I might assume this wasn't the first time. Giving it one star as they were nice enough to know I was leaving and not paying for anything that was ordered.

What a nice place! Staff very pleasant and food served quickly. Staying at a local hotel and not offering breakfast due to covid, we were looking for a place to eat. Googled breakfast and Johnny's popped up. They have outside seating and now just restarted inside seating. Enjoyed two days of breakfast and one lunch so far during our stay.

First of all my wife and I have been eating at Johnny s for years and it is an amazing place. But I am writing this review because when you go to a place that you will always love and you have a wonderful, energetic and happy server like Maya it just completes the overall experience!

Johnny's holds a special place in my heart. I grew up around the area and used to come to Johnny's all the time as a kid. I hadn't been for years up until recently, and the fries are just as good as I remembered. The service is timely and the food quality is definitely higher than what you might expect. This establishment defines my Newton Center dining experiences, and I would recommend Johnny's to anybody looking for a good breakfast or lunch joint.

Don't bother with this place as there are far better delis in the area. Still at the table, but so bad I had to post. Coffee had spinach in the cup, orders came out wrong and the food was just skimpy, bad and expensive. Even Panera is far better! Avoid this place if you can.

First time here, we came on a busy Saturday at noon- short wait (5-10 minutes). Our waitress was very friendly and informative, we chatted about their locally sourced produce and eco-friendly owners. Food was amazing!!! Best corned beef hash we ve ever had (and my partner is something of a connoisseur), everything was fresh and got to us very quickly. We will be back!

I used to eat here for lunch almost every day when I worked around here. Love the sandwiches (especially the tuna melt) and the french fries are amazing. Perfect little diner experience, but be prepared to be around a lot of kids.
