Joey's Supperclub Review

I've been to Joey Gerard's in Mequon twice. Both experiences bad. The food was marginal, the decor average and the service was poor. The last time we visited for dinner on a Sunday with a guest from Germany - at 9:15 during desert they were turning the lights off around us. Not the caliber of other Bartolotta Restaurants - Should step up the food and service or remove the Bartolotta name.

The service was amazing went there for my birthday. Would definitely go there again

Great service, great drinks - came here for our anniversary, steaks and sides were great. Treated us to a free schaum torte, which was lovely.

Nice upscale atmosphere. Great food, excellent service. They have the best coffee I have ever had. Located in the heart of Greendale.

Not impressed. Our drinks were good... Our order was messed up. Then they forgot my lobster. Our server didn't return until I was finished eating, so i got my lobster 15 minutes after we were done.Did not finish my steak, it tasted like charcoal lighter fluid. Some guy in a tux kept walking around starring at everyone eating with a angry face. Weird! Will not be returning.

Always love going to Joey's. Great food, good drinks, awesome atmosphere.

You can't have a bad meal here. Always impressed with the quality of both the food and staff.

New Year's Eve
Dining on New Year's Eve can sometimes be a disaster, but we were treated like royalty on our recent visit to our favorite restaurant. We were lucky enough to secure two bar stools right away and enjoyed our before-dinner cocktail while visiting with a jocular, tall, bearded bartender while waiting for our reservation time. The hostess called us by name and escorted us to an intimate booth for two in the beautiful dining room. A well-trained assistant waiter delivered a bread and veggie tray and introduced us to our waiter, Jason. Our order was taken after being briefed on the specials of the day by Jason, who was very eloquent and professional in every way. My New York Strip and my wife's scallops were prepared perfectly as were our side dishes. Refills on our beverages were delivered with perfect timing which always has been very important to my dining experience. We were approached by the dining room manager at least three times to insure that we were in need of nothing and enjoying our dining experience. I even mentioned to her that we are world travelers and the service at Joey Gerard's in my opinion was truly world-class. We look forward to our next opportunity to dine in class with the whole staff once again.

Omg, the BEST dinner I've ever had. The BEST steak ever made! The best drinks and desert also! Staff was professional and amazing. Dining room and rest rooms were clean and beautiful.

Very good food and service that you expect from Mr.B but definitely not a throwback to the iconic WI supper club. Booth seating in dining room is awkward.

It was an amazing experience from start to finish. From the people at the door to our server to our food. Highly recommend!

Breakfast menu was overpriced and horrible On Fathers Day! Prime rib, potatoes, peppers and egg was burnt baked potato, tiny pieces of meat, non existant peppers probably from last night. I only hoped not from the customers plate! My daughters chopped salad wasn't chopped, had very little chicken, cheese or garbanzo beans just a lot of lettuce. No bread or muffins or fruit for any of us for $12. My husbands breakfast popover was very dark but ok. His potato pancakes were the size of sausage patties and mushy not crisp. Not what I would expect from Bartolottas and very disappointing.

Great atmosphere. Worth while fish fry. Reasonably priced for the value. My wife enjoyed the baked cod. We skipped desert. (Its lent).

Steak was cooked perfectly, great service, custom made cocktail.

As far as an "old-time supper club" is concerned, I suppose. But the REAL supper clubs that dot Wisconsin are not even half as expensive as this place. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent restaurant. But the supper club vibe is meant to be repeated over and over. Growing up, I went to one in my hometown almost once a week, sometimes twice. Joey's is a destination restaurant. Our family cannot afford to eat here more than a few times per year. Love the atmosphere, the bar selection and the wait staff. I just don't think it's a pure supper club. I know, it's nit-picky, but when I think supper club, I think NOT having to pay $22 for a Lazy Susan, $8 for a salad and $40 for a Filet.

I don't even know why I have to give this place one star the food was terrible the assistant manager was a complete jerk I would recommend it to anybody and the food was really subpar and it's way overpriced

Very good old style restourant.i suggest this place as for romantic dinner as for work dinner.

Steak is always an excellent choice here. We've been here twice in the past month. Joey Gerard's was a common recommendation from family, friends, and work colleagues and I'm glad we listened. It's already a top 3 date place for my wife and I. If you get Matthew or Alex for servers, you'll definitely be taken care of.

A scene from beautiful downtown Greendale, looking over the shoulder of Norman Rockwell (the wonderful, lifelike, statue at the corner of Broad and North way... note his Brewers cap) who is salivating over his anticipation of dining at Joey Gerard's Supper Club (a Bartolotta's restaurant). If you want a wonderful dining experience, this Wisconsin Supper Club is the place for you. The fish fry was superb as was the service and the atmosphere. They specialize in steaks... next time.

Nice atmosphere. Creative and retro drinks. The prices are on the high side but the food is really good. I wish they would bring brunch back. Try their carr valley popovers as an appetizer.

We ve gone here in the past and it was outstanding. Last 2 times not so much.
From the cocktails to the dinner not the standard we have become accustomed to.
I had to return my gimlet because soda was added to it. The food was just ok.
It was disappointing . I hope it returns to the restaurant it was.

I love this place. Great food, service and atmosphere.

We went to Joey Gerard's last night to celebrate my dad's retirement, and I was so amazingly happy with everything! The atmosphere is lovely and the employees are super friendly. Our server, Matt, was especially great - will definitely ask for him again when we go back! The food is sooo good and was very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Had the king cut prime rib. Medium rare. Not much flavor, stringy / chewy texture with a gravy boat of equally bland au jus. A Bartolotta restaurant can be excellent. They can also be long on style and short on substance. A Wisconsin type "supper club" that can't get a staple like prime rib right should rethink its menu or find a better chef. Sorry but I'm a meat and potatoes kind of man and I don't have $38 to waste on a poorly done prime rib.

Very disappointed on this visit. My wedge salad was extremely small and made with wilted and partially brown lettuce. The bacon wrapped shrimp was a small slice of shrimp with an equally small piece of bacon wrapped in wonton and deepfried. Not good. My husband's filet looked and tasted like a small frozen steak patty. Atmosphere was pleasant, but not sure we will go back.

From the time you walk in the door till your final good night... You are the star at Joey's!
A menu that is diverse from apps to dessert.. try the homemade raw beef .. mouth watering delicious.
The staff .. friendly, attentive and professional.. they make you feel right at home! Once you go .. you WILL return.

This was our third try at this restaurant. The first two we had ok meals but thought it was overpriced a bit. This was a special occasion for our friends 71st birthday, and he chose Joey Gerards. We are in our 50's and have a lot of dinning experiences.
Party of 6 for a nice dinner outside on a beautiful night. We had a drink and ordered appetizer, which was ok. We ordered 6 entrees. One trout, two shiskabob specials, two chopped steaks and a ($32) filet.
The entrees came out. I cut into the filet that I had ordered MEDIUM RARE and it was WELL done. I showed it to the server and she imediately took it back and said she would correct the problem. Everyone else was uncomfortable eating while I sat there, so I snacked on carrots, celery and bread and told them to eat because their food would get cold. My second filet came out after they were finished eating. All except my husband because he did not want to eat until I did, so he was eating very slow. She put it infront of me and ask how this one was. I cut into it and it was MEDUIM WELL, not even close to MEDIUM RARE. Ok once, but I could not believe a place like this that this happened twice. wow.
I said to the waitress I still was not satisfied but I would eat it anyway. I took a few bites, and took the over cooked piece of meat home with me. If I had not been with the party of 6 I would have not accepted the second one and would have ask for it to be taken off the bill, since I was somewhat full from all the carrots and celery, but I was with a group and did not want to cause problems or make the birthday guy feel bad since he picked the place.
So she packed up my steak and brought it back along with a piece of pie. she said here is some desert since the steak was not done correct. I DONOT eat desert. LOL
what a joke. I passed it around the table for others to enjoy. They liked it. So for $106 bill before tip for my husband and myself. I got to watch others dine and then dine alone after they were all done. I do that at home enough when I am the chef. I tried to contact them when we got home on their website but had an error on the page when I tried to send it. I did send a message to them through their fb account.
For me this place was like a 1 or 2 star restaurant at 5 star prices. Not acceptable.

Amazing anniversary dinner! Jody went above and beyond with my food allergies to make sure my meal was safe. Steaks were perfect!! Honestly the best experience I ve had ever. Highly recommend requesting him when you eat here. Customer for life!

The food was amazing as always but their safety protocols are over the top which ruined the experience. Waitress will stop about 10 feet away from the table and ask everyone to put masks on before she gets closer to the table. This is true even to drop off a drink or a pepper shaker. This turns into quite the hassle with a party of 6. Also, they charge a $4 fee per person for the safety protocols they have implemented, you can ask to have this waived if you would like.

What an excellent experience! The service was pristine. All of the wait staff and managers were friendly, helpful, and kind. I believe our waiters name was Jody and he was great at explaining the menu and prompt with our orders and food. The food was outstanding! I had the filet with Brussels sprouts and mashed Potatoes and it was Delicious. I left the restaurant full and happy .

Excellent service with a broad menu. The meal was excellent.

We were a bit disappointed this time. My filet was very tender and good flavor but a tad dry. My husband's prime rib was very good but our mashed potatoes were at best, luke warm. We order cheddar popovers and were not impressed. They had no cheddar flavor so all in all for the price you pay for your meal it should have blown us away. It did not!

The food is a little pricey service is awesome drinks are great. Ask for Jodi to be your server you will not be disappointed

Amazing food, great service, fun atmosphere. It's a Bartolotta's so it has to be good! It is better than good. The fish fry is excellent - I wouldn't expect anything less.

My favorite restaurant for family gatherings. Wonderful food, well prepared, festive atmosphere, great drinks and bar...all with exquisite service. Love it! My granddaughters love the steak, brisket and cheese curds. They think bartender and people who work here are very nice! The food in general is just fantastic. The area around the retraunt is very nice as well. We love this place!

I've been here a number of times, but always sat in the same dining room in one of their comfy booths . Most recently, my husband and I brought our parents here for a nice dinner. Since we had a larger group of six, we were seated in another dining room, filled with two large parties and smaller, two-seat booths. I understand the restaurant can't be responsible for the other guests dining, but the tables around us were so loud, that we couldn't really hear each other. Maybe there is an opportunity to add some decor that helps with acoustics? Service was acceptable, and food delicious.

Last nights dinner was underwhelming. First off you should tell your patrons when they make reservations, that there is no bar seating prior to dinner. We had to get in the car and go elsewhere for an hour. The filet was something I would expect from Outback. Which is fine if I was only paying $20. The steak was dry and had a smoked flavor. Not the quality have had in the past from a Bartolotta restaurant. The salted potato was good but luke warm. The mushrooms were excellent. Don't even get me started in the optional $4 per person sanitation charge!

Great place for casual happy hour. Old school apps. Reminds me of how my parents gathered with neighbors & cocktailed.

A perfect martini at the beautiful bar, a little chatter with the locals, a greeting by my favorite server, Jordy, followed by a wonderful lamb ribeye with a glass of cab. There is just no better way to finish off a day.

Great service, great old fashions and a schaum torte that is out of this world. Restaurant manager stopped by all the tables and chatted which to me says a lot! Really cool old Hollywood supper club vibe. They even have a map of all of the old Hollywood photos and who they are of! Had the house red wine was fabulous. Unfortunately my steak was over cooked. Not the end of the world by any means, but the reason I m giving 4 instead of 5 stars. We will be back.

Fish Fry was excellent. Potato pancakes were authentic and delicious. The brandy Old Fashioned I had was great. Food was hot and fresh.

We received exceptional service this last Saturday when we called in the afternoon. We wanted to treat someone for their birthday that evening and spoke to Judy who helped arrange for a special table and allowed me to take care of the bill. Judy even took the time to pick out a card and allowed us to customize the message for her. The next day I was promptly emailed the receipt as promised. The service that we received was above and beyond and we are so grateful that she made the evening so amazing - our friend shared that the food and service were wonderful too! All around a very great experience!

Delicious food, good service, atmosphere was very very nice. I enjoyed my time at this place. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a place to eat in the Greendale community.
